Now we understand why Larry Johnson was re-signed

Larry Johnson is signed and on the practice field today. And he is taking some repetitions as the club's No. 2 running back -- at least in the portion of practice open to the media.

Why?

Well, because rookie Daniel Thomas is injured. And he is not practicing. The Herald's Jeff Darlington is reporting Thomas yesterday tweaked a hamstring injury he had earlier this preseason and so the club felt the need to buy insurance for Monday night's regular-season opener against the Patriots.

I have to tell you, Thomas has not had a great month. He's been tentative on some runs in training camp. He was told to stop "tippy toeing" by coaches at one point. And he got hurt. And now he's hurt again.

I've heard of better starts to an NFL career.

Now, let's think outside the box for a moment. Is this terrible news?

Given Thomas's obvious need to get better acclimated to the NFL game and the large stage on which the Miami season begins -- national TV -- would you rather hand the ball to the rookie or to Johnson?

I believe the moment won't be bigger than Larry Johnson. Monday night football?

Been there. Done that.

That does not mean it is certain Thomas will be out of Monday night's game. The Johnson signing is supposed to be for insurance. If it turns out that Johnson is thrust into a contributing role behind Reggie Bush, so be it.

In my opinion, at least.

Daniel Thomas = Yatil Green

And guess what? Another draft bust of a pick by the infamous J. Ireland. Wow, what a surprise. Can anyone please go and kick this idiot as hard as you can in the groin for me.....PLEASE!!! Oh and by the way, they sure are talking pretty tough around here in Fins world. Lets see if they can really back that talk on monday night.

Now we see why Tony says Reggie is going to be the #1 back, the other two backs both have hamstring injuries.

Meanwhile, Ricky and Ronnie set to play game one of the season for likely contenders.

... I realize some may think it's too early to declare Thomas a bust,

This wasnt amusing the first time you posted it.

Let's see:

Once, twice, how about going for 3 times ans idiot! LOL.......................................

So los lobos your saying Ricky is in his prime now wow! if thats the case we should of signed tiki barber to why not sign all 34+ backs. some of yall are real idiots now, let the dude play
Go phins

List of things that have me worried:

1. FP4FGs is REALLY the WAD ALoco

FP4FGs,

worry more about our RBs' hammies than climate change! Perry, a politician from Texas and a modern day Galileo (but not quite as heretical) has made it very clear that the scientists are wrong. So relax and enjoy the season!

Cheers!

I would like Mando to answer this question instead of hiding behind his drive by postings.

WHAT ARE THIS TEAMS STRENGTHS?

Write an article outlining how our strengths outweigh our weaknesses. Then compare and contrast that to OUR DIVISION.

That article would be something I would like to read.

Great tradegy of all is that when our beloved fins finally win a SB many of these same idiots will be calling themselves tru fans.

Except they'll still be in the cowardly business of creating fake screen names! LOL......................................

yeah buddy like i said just watch and see! henne will not last through the fisrt half of the season. do you even watch the games, or does the d not have to carry the team?

**News Flash**

Daniel Thomas has a Ham Sammich; Dolphins Season OVER!

With the patsies O-line struggling I'm hoping Wake, Taylor, Dansby and Burnett playing behind the best D-Line in the NFL can make up the slack.

Naw, it'll never work! Woooooooooooe is me!

Wowsy Wowsy Woo Woo!!!!

So bangee...You're saying this garbage we currently have is better than the garbage we had?

You and Ireland doing the wide stance dance again?

DB, In 30 minutes you'll think its funny if you stay true to fourme.or at least if the rest of the posters say about you.., We'll see.

John Jerry is our new goal line secret threat. He'll be our new refrigerator Perry minus the mayo on a ham sandwhich!

John Jerry = Refrigerator Perry!

LOL........................................

A politician from the Oil Rich State of Texas says not to worry about enviromental concerns?

OK then, Duh!

YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaW!!!!

Making fun of other fans for whining & crying? They're tired of being a sucker. You should be too.

What are you doing? Sitting there, putting on your smiley faces. Letting Sparano & Ireland stick it in your sore a** week after week while you stuff your face with nachos.

No wonder why our stadium is overrun every Sunday. With fans like you, why have home games? If you don't demand a winner, you don't deserve one.

You guys are hilarious, the slightest shred of bad news sends everyone into a frenzy. It's not that bad, the guy has gotten off to a slow start and we bring in a vet for insurance. Doesn't mean he's not or won't be a good player for us. I personally am glad we got younger and faster in the backfield.

I like Ireland because he failed miserably in Texas.

Los lobos sorry man but you should stop it... you're making yourself sound dumb. I know it's your opinion and all but just saying...

Odin, I'am hurt. I stuck with you this morning and now you say I'Am Aloco, We Are Dumb?, Please Child.BTW,Is it true you bit Your Dog?LOL

We keep ignoring the O-line. They either know something we dont or are waiting to sign some veteran when the season starts. Columbo really doesnt look like he has much left in the tank.

Here is what irriates me the most. We got Henne, Moore and whatever else is on the depth chart.

What is so wrong with bringing in Garrard as insurance?

This organization is so hell bent on believing the garbage on this team is better than the cast off's from other teams.

TO is out there. Kerry Collins was out there. Moss is out there. A whole host of players are out there but this organization BELIEVES the garbage they currently have is better than the cast off of other teams.

You whiney b1tches only root for new regimes only to have something new to whine about.

The heavens hasnt created, nor it ever will, a regime you pink cookies crushed by a tall building b1tcha*ss pusses wont whine over!

LOL...............................................

Sure id rather handoff to a RB with some giddy-up.
Sparano/Ireland could have signed Ricky Williams or Ronnie, or Marion Barber or Chester Taylor, but no lets get the woman beater, he's more dependable. And people wonder why there will be more Pats fans then Dolphin fans come Monday night. There have got to be better free agent RB's out there. And just think, Ireland/Sparano traded back into the 2nd rd to get Daniel Thomas. Sparano/Ireland can not evaluate talent.

yeah buddy like i said just watch and see! henne will not last through the fisrt half of the season. do you even watch the games, or does the d not have to carry the team?

Posted by: dolphin 77 | September 08, 2011 at 02:49 PM

Like you said? That's not what you-LOL. What you said was: WRONG ;)

However, I like your NEW updated "fallback" position. Half a season? Your making progress!

BTW, whats wrong with having a defense good enough to carry your team? It worked a few times for my hometown Bear Be-atch, Ah Ha ha!

"ONLY YOU" could make having a top 5 defense a negative thing-ROTFLMAO, looser!!!!

;)

I knew the positive difference I've seen in Henne this year was his footwork and active movement in the pocket. Daboll just said that's the biggest improvement.

So lo-blow got jokes now ? , we are way better than them jokes they have on the eastern corridor you prick. we dont need Garrard y'all idiots don't get look at the team we aren't run first anymore. we have a spread offense now

Is it me or is DB drunk?, Not for nothing breed but it sounds like your POed at something, What that something is is not clear, Can you Clearify it?

@Mark in Toronto: I expect them to be in the play-off mix. Too many variables to go further on a limb than that.

Kingsmith, sorry man but your words would carry more weight if you debate what I said instead of trying to insult me on what I didn't say.

You're a typical "Jim Jones" koolaid drinker hell bent on following orders instead of thinking rationally.

Watch the game the tape don't lie
jokey fans some of yall should go jerk off rex's belly of bellichicks neck
go phins !!

Here is a box of tissues for you Dusy....

What are you doing? Sitting there, putting on your smiley faces. Letting Sparano & Ireland stick it in your sore a** week after week while you stuff your face with nachos.

Not EXACTLY! I do make house calls, maybe you just need me to come over and shove some Nachos up YO A S S!

Wowsy Wowsy Woo Woo ;)

PS: Did ya see the smiley face?

We need a War to unite us all. Or a Depression. You can't hate if you're hungry and out of work.

Good. I am glad they did something. I don't know diddly squat about Daniel Thomas and wish him well. Anyone think he might have been injured from the start. Anyone here ever have a torn muscle in the chest or stomach. Tough to do any running.

I watched Detroit run by Haynesworth. Right past him. He fell over and touched some feet but the guy still went over 5 yards.

4-3 defenses are easier to beat with screens, draw plays and the front 4 wear down by the 4th quarter.

After witnessing the pussified whining of this toddler nursery. It makes me so happy internet didnt exist in the early 70's.

You f*ags would have whined about going 17-0. You would have had a field day when Griese went down in game 5 and was replaced by Earl Morral!

LOL..........................

Seems odd to write a post involving jerking *ff and rex ryan in the same sentence.

I'm going to drop acid in my eyes after reading that.

Ronnie & Ricky > Clay & Thomas

Pretty bad that the wheels are falling off the running game before we've even played a meaningful snap. I knew it would happen, I just didn't figure it would be this soon. Guys don't like it to be said but another veteran back should have been signed at some point. LJ is fine but there were other guys that would have been better. The good teams, like the Saints would have drafted a back but not expected the rookie to carry the load. The Dolphins can paint it whatever way they want with Bush but he's not a lead back (he will breakdown too easily) and he's more of a change of pace, swing pass back. If they had really been expecting Bush to carry the ball 20-25 times (which they don't) then they would have killed him at some point. A back like McGahee with Bush, and Thomas working in, would have been the way to go. Dummies!!....

Had we internet in the early 70's, both Shula and Joe Robbie would have been run out of town for letting Czonka, Kiick and Warfield walk.

Thus we never would have had Marino to compare future Dolphin qb's to. Remember, you would have run Shula out of town and he's the one that drafted Marino.

LOL...................................................

Odin, I'am hurt. I stuck with you this morning and now you say I'Am Aloco, We Are Dumb?, Please Child.BTW,Is it true you bit Your Dog?LOL

I'm sorry man, but enough starting all this crap about my dog biting me. You know I hate it when people twist my words! My dog wouldn't bite me, he's a GOOD dog!

Besides, I CLEARLY STATED That "I" bit the "DOG"!

Get it? Got it? Huh?

Back to football looking forward to spanking alot of people in fantasy from b marshall and rbush. and the Defense strip sack anyone

Reggie Bush is a legit feature back in DaBoll's offensive system. Feature is only relegated to how you plan to use him.

No one would have ever thought Roger Craig could be a feature back either. Not until they saw the effective way Bill Walsh came up with to use him.

Bush can be effectively used in a Roger Craig like manner, dumbass ninnies!

LOL........................................................

WHAT IS THIS TEAMS STRENGTHS? And how do those strengths outweigh their weaknesses? And how do those strengths stack up against our division.

Anyone please answer. I know Mando will never answer it because he is a homer.

Pick out a good spot on the Jones Town landscape. You guys are willing to drink his koolaid without questioning orders.

Getting the ball in Bush's hands 17-20 times a game can be more effective than getting the ball into a traditional rb's hand 25-30 times you dumbass ninnies!

LOL.....................................................

I got aqua and orange koolaid for those who need it. Don't worry about the smell.

JUST DRINK IT!

LOL Odin, Bodog.com had you kicking your dog at 3-1 last night and the dog biting the Sh !t outta you at even money(Even A Michael Vick fan) Would take those odds..

Prime example of the nacho stuffing, worthless fan.

All you do is spam, rant & rave about people pointing out what a knob you are. You add all these LOL & ROTFLMAO etc. to your posts. Are you trying to convince us or yourself that you're actually funny?

You seem to be the most picked on poster on this site. I guess the masses are wrong about you? NOT!

GET LOST YOU LOSER!!!!!

Mark in Toronto, better watch out, look what I just read:

"Canadian officials say the number of Americans applying for temporary work visas doubled between 2008 and 2010."

Sorry dude. Time to lock your doors.

Los lobos, sorry for the insult just really disagreed with some things. One being "the garbage we have now is better than the garbage we had?" Well what we had was a offense that was too slow and lethargic. We had to be perfect on nearly every drive to pick up every first down on the way to the endzone because we were athletically unable to make explosive plays when the opportunity was there. This year we added more speed to be able to do those things. It may or may not work but they got it done. Also you say what are this teams strengths... well we have a deep and talented young front 7, good corners who shouldn't be overmatched in any game, a top ten wideout with nice complementary pieces, and a runningback who has very good speed and is dangerous in the open field.

thus proving my point ive been saying all along, this owner and gm have NO clue about talent and how to draft. i mean come 1st round traded up for a average Rb from where... kansas state come on man. please once agian can "SOME RICH PERSON THAT KNOWS FOOTBALL PLEASE BUY OUR TEAM AND MAKE US CONTENDERS AGAIN....PLEASE!!!!!!"

Los Lobos,

ME! ME! PICK ME, PICK ME!

Oh, OH, Lobos! Over here, PICK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

In today's nfl you need a very efficient passing attack and a rb who's good enough to keep defenses honest.

With the abundance of very good recievers and Reggie Bush on the roster I see a very huge check mark in both areas.

Will you be dumbass ninnies all of your life? I see a huge check mark in the "YES" box for you dumbass ninnies too!

LOL......................................................

TRICKY, wasn't Josh Freeman from Kansas State? Wasn't Ladanian Tomlinson from TCU? What are trying to say about small schools? Steve McNair came from like Acorn St. Doesn't mean anything where you went to school. If you made it to the NFL, you have to have LOTS of talent.

I still say the back to have grabbed this year were Ryan Williams and Leshoure. Yes, they are both out for the year but those were freak accidents and there's nothing to suggest that the same thing would have happened in Miami. There was never anything outstanding abot Thomas (maybe his hands) but the guy we saw in the preseason is pretty much the guy we epxected. Can he become better? Hope so. I've heard the Sammie Smith comparisons and that's probably who he reminds me of the most when I look at him. I hope he proves me wrong.

Odin, I love my kids, Honey Puppy and Mr. B, Both Black Labs, Loyal and loving.wITH wET kISSES WHEN i GET HOME(THOUGH IT SOUNDS GAY, iT'S NOT GUYS.) My Dogs are my Kids.

Shucks no, I just like to laugh a lot............at dumba sses!

Bhwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaa Haaa!

ROTFLMAO and an "LOL" to boot!

Oh yeah and a pretty little smiley face just for you sweetie ;)

Strengths
Receivers,
corners and linebackers , defensive line , special team specialists. Left sides of the ol.

offensive and defensive schemes

Weakness
running backs and QB based on past experience )
right guard and tackle
Starting TE

Division
beside the jets who corners can keep step or take out receivers out the game

the only pass rushers in the division are playing for the dolphins. not out of schemes like what the jets do. you really thing the pats and jets and buffalo will run on us this year?

just to name a few
all division opponents will be tough because of the familiarity but if we play to our strengths we could beat them and game plan for them

Go phins
