Now we understand why Larry Johnson was re-signed

Larry Johnson is signed and on the practice field today. And he is taking some repetitions as the club's No. 2 running back -- at least in the portion of practice open to the media.

Why?

Well, because rookie Daniel Thomas is injured. And he is not practicing. The Herald's Jeff Darlington is reporting Thomas yesterday tweaked a hamstring injury he had earlier this preseason and so the club felt the need to buy insurance for Monday night's regular-season opener against the Patriots.

I have to tell you, Thomas has not had a great month. He's been tentative on some runs in training camp. He was told to stop "tippy toeing" by coaches at one point. And he got hurt. And now he's hurt again.

I've heard of better starts to an NFL career.

Now, let's think outside the box for a moment. Is this terrible news?

Given Thomas's obvious need to get better acclimated to the NFL game and the large stage on which the Miami season begins -- national TV -- would you rather hand the ball to the rookie or to Johnson?

I believe the moment won't be bigger than Larry Johnson. Monday night football?

Been there. Done that.

That does not mean it is certain Thomas will be out of Monday night's game. The Johnson signing is supposed to be for insurance. If it turns out that Johnson is thrust into a contributing role behind Reggie Bush, so be it.

In my opinion, at least.

Craig, bobbyd12 got a little abrasive at the end of last season, but he's gotten back to his normal self. He's definitely on the list.

I bet we'll have a lot of 4 wide receiver sets on monday night. giving the pats a taste of their own medicine

Thanks Craig. You're right and you know now that I look at the list we do have a decent amount of good posters in here. It's amazing that this place gets taken over by a couple of bad apples.

Guys you gotta give some love to the trolls too. Without them Armando would be unemployed.

Hmmm.............. on 2nd thoughts...............

LOL............................................................

There is still nothing to write home about.

LouD, kris is cool too. He stopped coming lately because of this reason (and he got hacked). I'd add him.

Four wides sets say it is so "Cant wait" (thats bart scott... he's an idiot) keep the debate alive and the opinions coming learning alot
go phins.

Well, Fidel Castro appeared on TV and Peyton Manning is out 2-3 months following surgery.

if I remember the last couple of years everytime we were in 4 wide outs and henne in shot gun we moved the ball. I just couldn't beleive henning would stop using it as soon as we get to 35 yard line. I actually think henne is a better QB at shotgun. I wonder what his rating is the last couple of years when he was in shotgun with 4 wideouts. I bet its pretty high.

Now don't get me wrong, I have some criticisms of the team now and then. This isn't a list for homers at all. glass half full or half empty people are all good. It's a matter of content and mutual respect that I'm talking about. Gotta go guys, I'll come back when I actually have something about the Dolphins to talk about ;)

But my original point stands, give D. Thomas a year to get acclimated before calling him a bust!

LouD,

Add Boulder too. Level-headed and sincere.

Probably the end of his career for Peyton. Absolute HOF.

DC,

The thing about Odrick for me personally is the fact that Parcells took Merling with what you can call a late 1st Rd.pick (1st pick Rd.2)leaving UM DE Phenom Calais Campbell on the board. If you follow Canes ball you know he was stuck at the end of the Cocker era but might just have been the best physical specimen to ever wear the orange and green which is saying something regarding the position at the U.

At 6`8" and 320 Pds. running a phenom 4.88/40 you really wonder and had we taken him opposite K.Langford we would today have the best 3/4 DE in the game. Campbell has gone on to put up 15.5 sacks his 1st. 3 years in the NFL while under achiever Merling has given us 2.5 If you analize having to make up for the miss you begin to see that Odrick who has osteoperosis would not have been a need in 2010 with players like Jahvid Best and Dez still on the board.

People say that Parcells made us competetive again and saying the contrary is letting emotion in but I don`t see it that way. We were better than 1-15 in 07 the Trent Green experiment fails and we went the Cleo Lemon route loosing the team in the process and I don`t blame the players, uhhhh!! There was no were to go but up and will say here regardless of those that would post that we know nothing that haven been given the chance I believe a group of us would have done better!!!

anyone calling d thomas a bust before the first game of the season doesn't know much about football. Parcells knows running backs. I remember when he took curtis martin every one wanted his head. DT reminds me a lot of curtis martin. Parcells had daniel thomas as his second rated running back in the draft. give him some time.

Damnit! I forgot about Boulder. Now I'm leaving, I think!

LouD.....

Its your post @ 4:53 is dysfunction and is a glaring problem with what has gone wrong with this blog IMO....

Before you dismiss me a a troll...hear me out......

In your post to DB you blatantly ignore his repeated attacks on other's who do not agree with him

If you don't AGREE with DB...he calls you an IDIOT...You read the blog....you have seen it many times...

If you happen to call DB out on his FLIP-FLOPPING...ahem...inconsistencies....DB calls you a DIK (page 1)....tell you to SUK a DIK....or any number of other VERY OFFENSIVE words.....

and yet and still....you laud this personality as if it is one to emulate.....

WHY?

Why are insults from DB OK....why you deem insuts from others not????

I applaud you for having standards....

But I would respect your standards so much more if you appied them across the board.....

While I respect MANY poster's on this sight....I reserve the RIGHT to disagree with thier point of view....and I do.....

The best conversations on this blog (IMO) are one both sides of the argument presented in a well written manner.....infused with facts....brevity...and slight jabs of humor......

Those I will read any time from any poster....even the Aloco Character is a good read when he is posting with under a name that talks serious football....

Guys let's remember that Odrick was the 28th pick in the draft. The idea was to trade down from 12 and get that extra second round pick. We did that. Mission accomplished. There's no guarantee that someone taken at 28 will ever be a success, just as there's no success that someone that at 4 or 6 or 12 will ever be a success. There's busts all over the place. Maybin, Gholston, Enis, Russell, Ginn. Too plentiful to name. We got a guy who can hopefully help the line for a few years. BB is renowned for getting 'solid' players who fit into what he needs them to do, not necessarily superstars. I think Odrick will become one of those guys given a little bit of time. I don't ever see him becoming a superstar and there's nothing wrong with that from your 28th pick.

New Blog.

LouD!! What, no love for Tony?

He'd have to be crazy to play again(which he is not). Risking some kind of permanent paralysis.

GO MIAMI!!!!!

football talk

Damn.. Didn't make the list. Well if anyone else has a list I'm a free agent and will sign for cheap.

kris,

Or should I say ALoco? I just dont like you. Youre far too ugly. Ive had better looking blind dates! Have you noticed I never respond to you anymore?

LOL.......................................................

Probably all the Amigos running around. hehe

Ugh Ive said it 10000000 times! Why werent ricky OR ronnie brought back!?

Indianapolis can beat Houston without Peyton. So can we.

CraigM,

I understand it`s important for moral to think in the most positive light but I can take this argument and spin it by telling you of the payers drafted there who would become not only Pro Bowlers but HOF`s

Dan Marino
Darrell Green
Ray Lewis

Pretty good at the spot

Tim McKyer
Alvin Harper
Darrin Smith

I could go on and on but you get my point, If you read my post @5:10 you will understand why I hated the Odrick pick

Its amazing to me how quick some people are to name someone a bust. Those of you that freak out about every move the team makes maybe you could do the rest of us a favor and find another team. It is clear you dont really care about this one, you just like to rain doom and gloom on everyone.

HERE'S THE BEST PART ABOUT ALL OF THIS....management once again showed how INCOMPETENT they are by drafting an DARKHORSE RB in the first place. INGRAM WAS AVAILABLE FOR THE TAKING. ONCE again management is clueless about picking talent for this team. NOW THOMAS (nothing against the kid) has not been running hard and he's hurt. THEY SIGN LJ then release him only to SIGN HIM BACK AGAIN!! ONCE AGAIN, MANAGEMENT HAS BEEN KILLING THIS TEAM FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS!!! THAT INCLUDES MONEY GRUBBING OWNERS who care less about winning.

We will always have the Radio.

To bad Thomas has a bad hammy, but thank goodness L.J. was still hanging around out there.

If you were talking Q.B. I`d agree but R.B.`s tend to show early an twinkle toes is leaving alot to desire.

Practice squad

Daniel Thomas will play Monday night. Daniel Thomas is a gamer. Has always been a gamer. You have to keep 3 backs in the stable. All teams have at least 3 backs. Trust me I'm the best source for info.

Dusty Bottoms - you are a complete idiot. Please go away and cheer for another team. We don't want or need you here. Bye bye..

To call Thomas a bust already is a joke. I guess Leshoure is a bust too because he got hurt and is out for the season. You sir have no clue and need to stfu..

Please remember they missed a ton of training camp. Harder for Rookies this year to contribute right away

Fine...That could have been the kids issue all along, he was hurt, no problem bringing johnson back, But to waive a O lineman, when that group is already held together by a thread? I dunno........

"They don't trust the scheme(hole)". What hole, what scheme?

But that was Last year....

Loud,

I post on here occassionally and I've done so for quite some time. Even before Mando wrote this blog. But, lately it's been like walking into a daycare with screaming babies and kids. If you like the Dolphins, then you're a Homer. If you hate the Dolphins, your a Troll. Real mature stuff, huh?
When I've got something to say, I say it. Be it opinion or fact. Then, I usually leave because I really don't want to argue although I will discuss the matter.
I've been a Dolphin fan since it was an expansion team, so I'm not a johnny-come-lately. But, sometimes I can't keep track of who is who on here. It's chaos. And, it usually takes Mando posting to make all of the children go hide under their beds.

GO FINS!!!

Just wanted to ask about the running back situation: Why are the coaches tinkering with Thomas' running style?

He's a big, fast, shifty, long-striding, finesse runner in the Franco Harris/Otis Anderson mould. I keep reading negative reports about him but he showed good explosion in preseason. Does Miami want another plodder or can they settle for a big play runner? Would the Titans try to make Chris Johnson into a physical runner?

Another thing: Why did they cut Edds when he was making tackles all over the field and showing good instincts in preseason? He looked better than the other backups, Spittler, Trusnik, Francis, Mithchell.

Tracy, you don't have to explain yourself. I, like you have been here for years. Now 'Lou' is deciding who a regular is? Gimme a fu&ing break.

I do know what you mean about the us against them devisions among the bloggers. I have been critical of this regime since day 1. Does this mean I'm a 'troll'? Hardly, just means I want the best for OUR Team.

I also, have posted less this year because of the crazy $hit that permeates this blog. Oh well

Lou d quit sniffing so much glue bro, and come back to reality.

Wasn't going to RE-POST this from the last blog....but since DB seems dead set on bringing this up......Here you go....enjoy DB.....

thats how this blog works.....Deal with it .....

Cocoajoe, post away brother, don't let anyone run you off!!!

Daniel Thomas????....Clock Ticking....Bust????

Tracy, post away brother, don't let anyone run you off!!!

We is watching you.

All those People go up and down up and down, even Hillary.

Made in USA. Finally!

You negative nancys kill me..worst franchise in the league..bwah hahah..i live in Jacksonville so give me a break, and have you seen what's goin in cincy. truth is, this team is wayyyyy better than when sparano/ireland took over. are there holes? yeah baby..there are holes..but i am a far happier fin fan now than four years ago. stop jumping off bridges and start looking at glass half full..because it is...no one is perfect but we are making strides.

LouD,
Does that mean those us that work for a living and then catch up by at least reading the previous posts (6 pages) have nothing to say.
I have followed the fins since the 60s and played a little myself.
Take offense to you arrogance.

Green Bay looks scary good for the most part...it just sucks because I know my Fin's aren't at that level yet..that blows

Dt is yatil green part two

This is the Real thing, Man, the Real thing. Finally.

Another awesome pick by Ireland____ BUSTTTT....
