Gassed? Cramps?
The Miami Dolphins?
One of the most galling things about Monday night's game against the New England Patriots was not that the Dolphins lost -- New England was favored. It was not that Tom Brady toyed with the Miami defense -- he has a way of doing that against many teams.
It was just that the Miami Dolphins, a team that trains and conditions in South Florida and should have some sort of weather advantage here, couldn't catch its collective breath.
Vontae Davis suffered cramps and couldn't come back in the game. Sean Smith cramped up and stayed in the game, although it seemed clear he was struggling, which is why he got beaten for a 29-yard completion by Aaron Hernandez.
Brandon Marshall suffered cramps. Defensive linemen were seen bent over between plays, clearly needing to catch their breath.
What's up with that?
Did the Dolphins fail to hydrate? Did they not take IVs at halftime? Were they not aware that New England's no-huddle offense -- which was on display in the preseason -- was going to tax their conditioning?
All these questions deserve good answers -- maybe before Sunday when the Dolphins play a 4:15 game against Houston.

channing did a much better job getting the D lined up with his calls. much quicker also!players were confused and lost. dansby said they would miss crowders calls.

Have any of you really watched Sapp? I could not believe they kept him. The guy is awful in coverage, its way obvious. I just don't get it how they kept him. I read a stat when we got him last year, he gave up completions on 70% of the passes thrown his way.
There have been to many misjudgements of talent with this FO. Too many. Glad Sapp is gone but shouldn't have taken this long for them to figure it out. Stupid.

@andysimms
Sports Agent CB Benny Sapp has been released by the Dolphins today.

Not all, but many of us Fans here in Miami are highly educated in American Football, taught by the Best of the Best. Our advice, don't fu-k with us.

i think sparano should step down and be the guy who records snaps and play counts for various players on both offense and defense. like bush getting 20 touches etc and other useless info. bellichick reminded us "stats are for losers", he's probably right.

Ross is a business Man first and he couldn't care less about the Miami Dolphins fortunes. The Others, well...

For those wondering, there IS such a thing as discounting lo$$es from your Income Tax. Ask the Wright Family or Al Davis.

Chad Henne didn't just start playing like he did last night. He came here from Michigan having done that every week for 48 weeks. He already holds every Michigan and Big-10 passing record. He holds the record for weeks ranked as starting QB: 45, most victories on nat'l tv, most victories against ranked opponents, most victories in front of 100,000+ fans.
I've been telling you guys this stuff for 3.5 years now.
Posted by: PriceMaster | September 13, 2011 at 08:36 PM
Chad Henne was the lowest paid player on the field last night.
Any position.
Either team.
Isn't that horrible?
I mean his 3rd year as an NFL starter and he doesn't even get $1mil/yr.
Good for him it's the last year of his contract.

The main cause of Monday's loss: THE LACK OF GOOD COACHES.
Posted by: xerxesblack | September 13, 2011 at 08:51 PM
The Pats were 14-2 last year.
Was it the coaches fault in all of those losses?
12 other teams have the Pats coming down the pike.
The more important thing is Houston doesn't have Eliis, Wilfork & Haynesworth on thier D-line.
Henne is gonna put up 40 points on the Texans.
Posted by: PriceMaster | September 13, 2011 at 08:57 PM
Oh yea, it's the coaches fault now. I guess the coaches were suited up in pads and played to. One freaking game and its fire everyone. The coaches made some bad calls, especially on the goal line, but they did not lose the game.

Totally agree with LouD-why is it we can't draft a stinkin player...just ONE, who turns out to be what Belicheck's coaches and scouts end up with.
I'm so tired of waiting for this team to turn it around... Sparano better hit the books and figure out what to do bec. his days have to be numbered. I've been a Henne basher but I must say he shut me up last night. He didn't even look like the same QB from past years. He really looked confident, in control (for the most part) and I think this was a good start for him. But with all this, the 4 year experiment is taking it's toll on everyone and if this season doesn't show huge improvement, I see Sparano and Ireland getting pink slips. And explain this to me: how does this team not believe the lack of conditioning was not going to be noticed. The biggest weapon we have is heat and humidity against other teams and OUR OWN TEAM fell victim. How bad is that?

Cramps! Like women during their time of the month

It's a long season and regardless how we played, we are 0-1 with 15 games remaining, as are 16 other teams. True dolphans know our defense will not play that way again and should be encouraged by the play of Henne and aggressive play calling by Daboll.Let's see what Thomas and Clay can bring to our short yardage packages. Gates speed is real and he will make some exciting plays. The Beast is alive and well! I want to see Wallace in some packages. He is big and fast. If we score 24 pts every week, we will win more than we lose! I agree with most that Sapp (painfully reminds me of Terrell Buckley) never shouldve made it out of training camp but hes gone (lets all move on) and hopefully Allen is back and motivated, giving us 3 solid corners. I also thought Jones and Bell played well while NE schemes avoided TE match ups with Burnett and Dansby. Pass rush will come. Humble pie will probably go a long way with Vontae and Smith, whom I believe have the potential to be as good as Surtain and Madison (miss those guys). ST were decent. I actually didn't feel the need to close my eyes on every kick off and punt. Football is truly a game of inches and we were inches away from 14 more points last night. We just needed some inactive pieces to help seal the deal. I predicted playoffs before the season became largely because I believe Henne is going to have a great year. I am still very much encouraged. Everybody take a deep breathe and lets talk again halfway through the season

We were out coached again.....Did the pats send a scout to our training camp and see our guys sit around versus workout? Because it seems to me that the no huddle offense did us in very early in the 2nd half.....In fact, it was a joke!! Hello??? does the word ADJUST mean anything to you? You want to fire someone coach? Look in the mirrior!! It was the long nights at South Beach that did us in. Who's fault is that? The young kids (thats what they are) or the staff.....One guess!!

I'm sure this has been mentioned many times already.
Where was the half time adjustment?

Henne = Romo
Just not as good looking.
Posted by: Los Lobos | September 14, 2011 at 01:16 AM
Did i hear it right? vontae davis and smith are better than the Jets duo?? they looked like turtles out there.
The doofins have no running game or defense and guess what? a little smurf named woodhead had more yards than bush. Meanwhile former dolphins welker and ninkovich did well against the dolphins.
Tedd Ginn had back to back td's to help san francisco win
Posted by: JET FAN | September 14, 2011 at 01:39 AM
It was painful to see our best pass rusher, Cam Wake, on his face under a rookie for most of the game.
Posted by: Rick | September 14, 2011 at 12:55 PM
Great game by Henne. He looked loose. Keep letting the guy play and don't crucify him for throwing interceptions as if it were the end of the world. Defense missed Crowder against the run. Plus he was the vocal leader of that defense. Where was Burke?
Posted by: Guido Oliver | September 14, 2011 at 03:34 PM
Really missed Lousaka on that short yardage -

The dolphins lost our season finale last year in a miserable performance against New England. The coaches' responsibility was to prepare the team for this initial game. You know that the Patriots will multitask their tight ends, that they'll pass repeatedly to Wes Welker, that Brady will use the no-huddle. And you allow your team to play even a worse game by allowing franchise record performances to the Patriots!! After four years coaching the Dolphins, is this the best Sparano could do? And we play offensive powerhouses Texans, Chargers, Bills X 2, Patriots, Jets X 2, Cowboys, Chiefs, Redskins and Eagles this year!!
