Source: Dolphins '100 percent' not firing Sparano now

The Dolphins are 0-3 and they're in disbelief.

They cannot believe they are 0-3. They cannot believe they got there by losing to the Cleveland Browns today, 17-16.

But despite being in last place in the AFC East and one of only two teams standing at 0-3 as of this moment, the club is not planning on firing coach Tony Sparano right now.

I asked a source if there are changes planned in that regard this week. "No, nothing," was the response.

I asked for clarification. Are you 100 percent, I asked.

"One hundred percent," was the emphatic answer.

Sparano, for his part, told me he also has not been told of any change or planned change.

Obviously, folks can sleep on their thoughts overnight. Obviously, we are operating in the span of one hour after a loss and people can change their mind. But that's how things are at the moment as the Dolphins just left Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Besides the interest in Luck, someone needs to also look up and see what starting QBS are gonna be free agents this upcoming offseason to see if there is any type of a better option to compare to Luck. Im gonna bet the odds of it are minimal. Its Cowher time, South Florida!!!!!!!!!

I just love how EVERYONE makes Sparano out to be the damn Scapegoat after all 3 loses!!! Sparano cannot help that the players are not executing the damn playbook! Sparano CANNOT help it that the OFFENSE CANNOT SCORE when inside the DAMN REDZONE! That is the players faults!!! the Players are the ones who have to make the plays and they're not doing there jobs!!! If you're gonna jump off the dolphins bangwagon because they're losing, then go route for the Jets! Granted some of the plays could of been called differently, but then also the DEFENSE NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO TACKLE!!! And this crap that the NFL allowed the NFLPA to dictate the number bout full contact practices during the entire season is taking away from the intensity during the week which takes a toll on game intensity as well.

DON"T GO TO ANY GAMES- WE WILL FORCE THEM TO MAKE A CHANGE!! EMPTY STADIUM = LOSING MONEY AND NOBODY WANTS TO LOSE MONEY.

You can have the next coming of Dan and Peyton, why not tank the season. Ross is a business man he has to know that this season is over. There is no need to win. 7 and 9 gets you mediocre!!
The no. one pick gives you a smarter cam newton.

Welcome to Dolphins in Deep Shyt!

Shyt!!

Have a shytty day!

OK, getting real time here...
This team hasn't been releveant since the early 70s. No championships in nearly 40 years....40!!! No Super Bowl appearnace in nearly 30 years. Why is this so?

This team has been bought, sold, sold again; it's had a merry-go-round of coaches since Shula left. Different owners, coaches, etc, but the same result--an at-best mediocre team that at times has displayed some of the worst football-playing I've ever seen.

The fact is that there is nothing anyone here can do. Until Ross decides to sell the team, we will be continually exposed to the same garbage football week in and week out. But even after he sells, who's to say anything will change? Maybe we'll just get another Waste Management Icon, or another celebrity-obsessed moron who flies across country looking for a coach to replace the one he hasn't fired yet.

do I think Sporano is capable of coaching at the NFL level? no. Do I think Ross knows how to run a franchise? no. Do I think Ireland knows how to develop a winning team by drafting/trading the right players? Absolutely not. But, my opinion doesn't matter. Most of these players wouldn't be on the practice squads of other teams. I don't think it's necessarily a matter of heart; they're simply not that good... they're not NFL caliber players.

Which leads to my conclusion.... I think another problem is expansion. I think the league may have finally outgrown the talent pool from which teams pick. There are more teams than there are NFL caliber players, and unfortunately the Dolphins are on the short end of the stick. I somehow see this once proud franchise becoming exticnt in the near future. Honestly, if this team were a stock, it'd be junk status... no one who wants to turn a profit will want to buy this team...

Am I going to stop being a fan? No. I will cheer for them. But I will do so strictly b/c they're my team. If you're looking for a team that is competitive and expect to win from time to time, this is not your team.

maybe theres a chance we hire Wanny back next year.......talk warner out of retirement and ask dion sanders to be one of our radio announcers....O the sky would be the limit!!!*lol*

SPARANO AND IRELAND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TALENT OMN THE FIELD THATS MAKING ALL OF THE ERRORS. IF IRELAND REFUSING TO GIVE SPARANO WHAT HE WANTS AND THEN THAT TALENTS FAILS. THEN ITS ON IRELAND AND SPARANO NEEDS TO BE VOCAL IN THE PRESS ABOUT IT.

RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE CLUSTER FVCK IN UNISOM!

please don't fire the 2 idiots until the season is over. We need there stupidity to get LUCK

Have come to the conclusion that the current organization looks for ways to lose. Living in Tampa throughout the week, south FL residents should get used to the term "blackout". This team is out coached and outplayed week in and week out. The time has come for Mr. Ross to man up or sell the team. It is a business....

If heads don't roll up top after this debacle. We have a gutless owner.

Your right DHT1976,
thats why the change will happen from the very top if there is to be light at the end of the tunnel. No good gm then we are screwed until owner figures it out or sells.
On another note...Even the raiders receivers are producing more than us. especially by the rookies. We have the wrong Moore. damn.
That a boy Cromardtie!

Dht stfu seriously. Henne played great, defense played great, everyone PLAYED GREAT! it's daboll and sparano that kill
Us, keeps the other teams in play with the horrendous playcalling and strategy. Thomas running good? Let's run bush and kill this drive. Passing great? Let's run twice and put up third and long after third and long. 2nd and 23? Let's run a draw for NOTHING instead of attempt at some yards. With hennes numbers, Thomas, the wr playing inspired, how do u only score 16? With ur defense confusing colt all day, how do u sitback and give him all day? And last but most, WTF would u EVER CALL THOSE THREE PLAYS BEFORE FOURTH AT THE END.
WONT FIRE SPARANO? fine. I'm done watching until u do, and I'm begging, BEGGING, my other dolphans to follow. PLEASE.

IM ONLY WITHIN A FAST UNRAVLING FRAYED THREAD OF GIVING UP BEING A NFL FAN ALTOGETHER!

I agree- we do have a lot of talent on our team- but our coaches don't know how to get the most out of them. Whatever new coach comes in- they should be able to turn things around quickly.

FIRE EVERYONE!! I feel bad for our players and us fans

FANS - DON"T GO TO ANY GAMES UNTIL A CHANGE IS MADE

This is Hennes last year on his contract. Who all wants him back for next year??????

"I just love how EVERYONE makes Sparano out to be the damn Scapegoat after all 3 loses!!! Sparano cannot help that the players are not executing the damn playbook! Sparano CANNOT help it that the OFFENSE CANNOT SCORE when inside the DAMN REDZONE!"

LOL,THAT HAPPENS WHEN THE COACH CANNOT INSPIRE TEAM CONFIDENCE ;)

Sparano doesnt have the balls to question what we do as a front office or what we need to improve on...HE HAS NO ANSWERS to anything, just more uplifting comments on a team that hasnt done jack through three games.

sparanos body language after we settle for FGs tells the story...the mans happy for just being in the position he's in right now, and is more than content on playing not to lose but in fact LOSING is what he likes or settles for!!!

sad days are coming, but there is always hope an Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Dying Breed - Blah, blah, blah.

Next week - Halb, halb, halb.

OUTSIDE OF ABOUT 5 PLAYERS MAX. IM VERY HARDPRESSED TO FIND ALL OF THE TALENT SOME OF YOU MENTION IS ON THIS TEAM.

PLEASE WAKE UP AND HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE!

BTW.........where the hell was Jared Odrick today??????

And lastly, if ANYONE can't see that even the one year sparano was decent we kept EVERY team in with his PLAY NOT TO LOSE coaching, then your an idiot. In all of his games we have blown out one team. One. The pats, when the wildcat was introduced. Every game besides has been a nailbiter, including the worst teams in the league, like the browns. Please, everyone, boycott the team till sparano is history. I'd rather take a lifetime of Ireland than one more day of sparano, and I have only two initials to mando and the idiot dolphins that want to keep him: F.U.

Henne is definitely awful when the game is on the line in the fourth (check his stats) but he played great today.

Wayne Huzienga must be laughing his ass off

Ask any Nfl manager, Luck or Henne, who would you bet your life on?

going back to last years final 5 game skid....this now puts us at an 8 game losing streak.....but yea, sparano and ireland arent to blame for that debacle either.....*lol*

Revival of wildcat with Stinkpot Jones and Remmy the behind wiper in the place of Brown and Williams.

The only thing I'm a afraid of is that once the front office and coach are gone, who does the owner turn to? The answer, Carl Freaking Peterson! It's obvious the owner doesn't know much about football, so guess what, he'll ask for help from his friends. Peterson is the same guy that brought in Herm Edwards, when it was obvious that was a bad choice for the Chiefs. Fear Peterson!

SAD THING ABOUT AGAIN LOSING TO THE BROWNS. AT THIS POINT THEY MAYBE SLIGHTLY WORSE THAN THE BROWNS TEAM WE LOST TO LAST YEAR!

...oh yea Parcells too!

My question is who is going to take over for both Ireland and Sparano? Do we go with someone with experiance or a college coach? I really don't think Cowher or Gruden are the answers. I might be the only one but I don't like them as options. ROb Ryan would be very interesting but I'm not sure if he is as good as Rex

Where is the rush, at home sleeping?
How many sacks for the fins today?
How many pass completions for 20+? Or thrown?
Not sure Thomas' final rush numbers but consistently counted 6-8 in the box.

The Dolphins will be 0-5 after the full road trip. No doubt it my mind they will lose at San Diego and at the Jets. I have been a fan since the Woodley days and this is the worst display of Football I have ever seen. Right now, the team is no better than the 1-15 Cam Cameron team. That's not good company to keep. This falls on front office, coaching, and players. But, once the game starts, it's all on the players and they are not executing. Right now, they remind me of the Bills during the 1970s.

Luck or Henne?

Does Shula still owne the steak's house restaurants? I want to invest in the sure thing.

As far as the draft goes I'm not sure what position to go after first? QB?RT?RG?CB?FS?TE?or DT?

So many holes being exposed right now.

Omg! Why are any of us talking about luck? We won't be close to getting him. Their are like five teams in the NFC worse than us and kc and Indy are just Plainfield awful. WE HAVE NO CHANCE AT LUCK.

No leadership, no heart, no playmakers. I not wasting my time or money on this team again until they become a legit NFL team.

Did you know we had a chance draft Rogers, Brees, Ryan and Flacco!

NO AMOUNT OF OUR FAN B1TCHING IS GOING TO CHANGE THE FACT THAT WE'VE NOW OFFICIALLY BECOME THE 2ND COMING OF THE NEW ORLEANS "AINTS"!

SOME OF YOU KEEP RIGHT ON CONVINCING YOURSELVES WE HAVE A LOT OF TALENT ON THIS TEAM. THE SCOREBOARD WILL CONTINUE TO TELL YOU OTHERWISE!

Lol anyone who doesn't like the idea of cowher or gruden....seriously no wonder the head office doesn't listen to us fans. We have Tony effin sparano!!!' HELLO?!?! both cowher and gruden have superbowls, they find talent at qb, and they made it to the playoffs all the time! With wins! Just shut.up.! U probably didn't want Brandon Marshall either.

haha i told you ross dont have the balls to fire him!!!!! Sparano should do the noble thing and resign but unfortunately he dont get paid if he resigns

I want a coach that is going to be in players faces for not producing, I want a coach that isnt going to be afraid to take risks to actually put teams on notice that if you dont come to play then we just assume embarrass you for playing at all.....Im sick and tired of him always complimenting the other teams efforts and bewildering your own teams lack of performance, or making small improvements of....

Sparano is nothing but the last part mentioned, thats why he needs to go!!!!

I would like the Herald to have a vote from the fans on keeping Sparano around for the season...I'm voting the Bum out.

It doesn't matter. REALLY.....it doesn't matter. Sparano, Nolan, Cowher, Vince Lombardi....the teams not winning with the current roster. Not happening. So let's keep on losing and get Luck or whoever the top player/quarterback might be. I'm not saying SParano is good enough...he's not. But I don't want a patchwork, bandaid job...no thanks.

Blame the defence, they've been MIA all year. They couldn't make a stop when it's was needed most. So I'm admitting....the team is crap!! Not going to spend time beating up on each other over this stuff any more. It's all pretty disheartening!

BRING COACHES COWHER NOW MR.ROSS !

COACH COWHER RECORD :

In Cowher’s 15 seasons, the Steelers captured eight division titles, earned ten postseason playoff berths, played in 21 playoff games, advanced to six AFC Championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles.

It has become an article of faith among NFL pundits that the Steelers do not have a bad team two years in a row – they have never lost 10 or more games in consecutive years since the 1970 NFL merger. At the conclusion of the 2005 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had the best record of any team in the National Football League since Cowher was hired as head coach.

Cowher is only the second coach in NFL history to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first six seasons as head coach, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame

Ohhh, and apparently anyone watching the game doesn't see the talent we have. Thomas is a stud, our wide receivers played great, our o line put the holes for Thomas and were shaky at worst at times, and our defense held them to 17, 10 in first 59 minutes. It all comes down to time of possession, gentlemen! And only coaching, COACHING, gets that kind of TOP and loses consistently. Remember Indy? Don't blame the players. I've already explained in previous post the numerous times we were moving and the coaches took it away from us.

inimounts

What do you want? Dear in headlight Henne or a once in a decade QB. Yes we do suck enough to get some Luck, finally.

IT DOESN'T MATTER SEASON IS OVER HE SHOULD THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE HE FIRES TONY NOT THAT TONY DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE FIRED, BUT THE COACHES LOOKING ON HE MAY WANT TO HIRE WHat they may be thinking especially after last years episode.NOW THE GUY THAT POST FIRST YEAH ALL THE TIME AND THATS IT GET A LIFE DUDE EITHER YOU ARE A FAN WITH SOMETHING TO SAY , THEN WHY BOTHER YOU NEED SOMETHING TO DO!!!THEY SHOULD FIRE TONY BUT NOT UNTIL AT LEAST THE HALFWAY POINT BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THAT COWHER OR SOMEONE LIKE HIM WILL WANT TO COME TO MIAMI, WE NEED A PROVEN COACH THIS TIME AROUND, I LIKE TONY BUT HE IS NOT A GOOD COACH HE HAS LOST 7 IN A ROW DATING BACK TO LAST YEAR AND THE CHARGERS ARE UP NEXT SO THAT MEANS 8 IN A ROW , THIS TEAM IS TERRIBLE and there are no playoffs this year, so maybe after week 8 or 9 let NOLAN BE HEAD COACH FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON AND SEE WHAT HE CAN DO, HOWEVER NOW IS TOO EARLY ONLY BECAUSE THE NEXT TIME WE HIRE SOMEONE WE WANT TO LET THEM KNOW WE ARE COMMITTED TO THEM, IF WE ARE GOING TO BE BAD MIGHT AS WELL BE REAL BAD!

Glory days, there is absolutely no chance we get luck. We will probably go 0-5 yes, but we will finish 6-10. No worse. And kc and Indy? Seattle? So many others will finish worse.

Don't hire Peterson!!!! Say no to Peterson!!!

Kill them all Machine

Who cares if Sparano and or Ireland stay for the remainder of the season, we are now in Suck for Luck mode anyway. at the end of the year all the changes will be made. All firing Sparano does is placate a few people that want blood now. No real changes will occur until after the season. The best thing is to keep Sparano and let them lose to get that first pick and finally get a QB. Henne has not played bad but he also is not elite and in the NFL to win you need elite. Look at the Jests the one thing holding them back is Sanchez, he is terrible. It is actually better to keep Sparano as the team has quit on him so losses will mount up quicker. Bye Bye Tony it was not nice knowing you. At least you lost some weight in Miami as well as games and the fan base.

The Dolphins should't fire Sparano until after the season - then fire him and Ireland. I wish we could fire the owner. There is some talent on this team but the team is not responding to the coaching staff - it is that simple. When Bill Cowher took over the Steelers in 1992, the first thing he did was cut their first round pick from the year before (some stiff from Florida - Huey Something) - instantly, the players got the message. The Steelers made the payoffs his first year and the rest is history. This team is lazy, complacent, whatever you want to call it - they ought to be ashamed of themselves. This is a proud franchise - we need to get rid of a lot of these guys but there is some talent.

Utube my empire of dirt!

You guys are being too hard on the Dolphins. They are a great team and you will never hear me talk bad about them in my column's. Dolphins will win the next 13 games. Call into my show tomorrow so I can mock everyone that calls in and repeat everything that everyone says like I am slow.

SAD THING ABOUT AGAIN LOSING TO THE BROWNS. AT THIS POINT THEY MAYBE SLIGHTLY WORSE THAN THE BROWNS TEAM WE LOST TO LAST YEAR!

Posted by: DyingBreed | September 25, 2011 at 06:38 PM

They were with out their star RB. So yes.

One can't refute what some are saying on the blog, Sparano plays not to lose. Every game is tight, we never get run up on anybody ever, not even the absolute worst teams. What does that make this team? Whether its the players choking or the coaches choking or both is not for me to figure out, but somebody needs to figure it out.

Bush is looking like a bigger mistake every quarter.

While Henne has been playing better, he still doesn't rise to the occasion when necessary.

I will say I am now a Donald Thomas fan. His first two games as a rookie on this team have been encouraging, both running and catching.

No adjustments were made from last week....Miami continues to just grind the game into time of possession in hopes that the clock runs out every time they hold a lead...they get more conservative....

Notice when cleveland needed to score, their coaches and players were more confident in throwing the ball up for grabs trusting their players to make a play...Amazing how when other teams do this, it works against but yet we never make it work for us....that is bad coaching!!!!

Say no to Carl Peterson!!!
