Source: Dolphins '100 percent' not firing Sparano now

The Dolphins are 0-3 and they're in disbelief.

They cannot believe they are 0-3. They cannot believe they got there by losing to the Cleveland Browns today, 17-16.

But despite being in last place in the AFC East and one of only two teams standing at 0-3 as of this moment, the club is not planning on firing coach Tony Sparano right now.

I asked a source if there are changes planned in that regard this week. "No, nothing," was the response.

I asked for clarification. Are you 100 percent, I asked.

"One hundred percent," was the emphatic answer.

Sparano, for his part, told me he also has not been told of any change or planned change.

Obviously, folks can sleep on their thoughts overnight. Obviously, we are operating in the span of one hour after a loss and people can change their mind. But that's how things are at the moment as the Dolphins just left Cleveland Browns Stadium.

THEY MAY NOT BE PUBLICALLY ADMITTING IT BUT ITS CLEAR THROUGH THIER PLAY THIS TEAM DOESNT FULLY BELIEVE THEY CAN WIN UNDER THIS REGIME.

IM ONLY SAYING THIS ABOUT THE SMALL HANDFUL OF PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM THAT ARE WORTH A FVCK. THE ONES THAT ARENT ARE SABOTOUGING ALL OF THIER GOOD EFFORTS. THIS REGIME'S RESPONSIBLE FOR ADDING ALL OF THE SABOTUERS!

DB - agree totally that this team has a few 5-7 NFL quality talent.
And for those who disagree, who decides on the players on this team?

The is playing well and the defense wasn't terrible the past two games. Offense is putting up numbers but we just can't get the ball in the endzone. We easily could have been 2-1 based on 2 or 3 plays. Even possibly 3-0 of the defense didn't crap themselves when they saw Brady. Ugh. Were not as bad as we look. But if I had to pick how I want the rest of the season to go: Luck Luck Luck Luck!!!!!

Armando S, LOL!!!

If the Dolphins are smart enough to hire Cowher - he picks his own players with some help from a personnel director - there won't be a GM.

THE ONLY ARGUMENT FOR KEEPING SPARANO/IRELAND FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON. IS THAT FIRING THEM NOW COULD POSSIBLY JEAPARDIZE OUR CHANCES OF GETTING ANDREW LUCK!

Haters. you all arent real phins fans

This team is no different than last year with the exception of our kicking game and defense looking problematic!!!!

Nobody can honestly sit there and argue to the point our offense is improved....it looks like it may be worse....

well if you're 100% not going to fire Sparano and Ireland, we are going to 100% not support your team

Thank you Stephen Ross for letting a lifelong Dolphin fan realize what is really important in life. Not renewing my season tix and avoiding the tv for three hours every Sunday has allowed me to spend more time with family. Smartest thing I ever did. Mr. Ross your team is irrelevant. Couldn't pay me to go anywhere near your franchise and its merchandising.

Well at least now i can focus on spending my food stamps on the kids instead of exchanging them for Fins tix.

AND YOU SIR ARE STANDING IN A TORRENTIAL DOWN POUR REFUSING TO ADMIT ITS RAINING AND YOU SIR ARE ALL WET!

IS THAT YOURE JUST TO DAMN CHEAP TO BUY AN UMBRELLA?

We need a top talent scout from one of the winning teams, preferably one from a winning team like the Packers. Say no to Carl Peterson!!!

Yeah!

100% hopeful for Andrew Luck.

Sanchez opposite of Henne: Sucky in between the 20's and money in the Red Zone.

Considering that the dolphins seem to have the ultimate knee jerk reaction front office and that what they say isn't what they do, I would expect Sparano to be fired around the bye week or so.

I would hope that Ireland follows soon afterward considering how much of a mess of a team he has made them into.

For the few that seem to think Sparano doesn't deserve to get fired...

One point:

Sparano was an Offensive Line coach correct?

Sparano signed and released more Offensive Linemen this off season than any other team in NFL history this year.

The Dolphins gave up 5 sacks today and Cleveland basically had Chad running for his life much of the day...

That sums up Tony Sparano as a head coach...

BYE BYE TONY

Fatty, the problem with Cowher and Gruden is that they're under contract. So is Rob Ryan and they're in midseason, so right now you'd have to go for jeff Fischer or some retired coach. I like Rob Ryan because he's hungry for a HC job and I'm sure he'd love to beat his brother twice a year and beat him to the SB!

I'm just sick over it because I'm not sure what the answer is - I know the coach has to go but if the Dolphins go 6-10 or 5-11 - its not good enough - we need 1-15 again - as painful as that will be - I'll take it for 10 years of competing. If the Colts have a worse record than us - they aren't taking Luck - Seattle, Denver, Cincinnati and the other sucky teams.....well?? They will.

"Haters. you all arent real phins fans"

NOPE, WE ARE NOT BLIND LIKE YOU FANS TO ACCEPT THE TRUTH IN FRONT OF YOU ;)

DyingBreed...

Funny about the 2nd coming of the Saints, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

No one buys this team to make it better, they just use it as a tax write-off. Nothing's going to change here for decades to come.

Tony Fumblano

Its not hate Tony, just sad!!!!!!!

well, at least brandon fields will be the only player for miami in the pro bowl this year...FIST PUMP that sporedraino!!!!

Best Punter in the game PPL!!!

redsky, I'm talking about next year. No one hires their coach of the future in the middle of a terrible season.

who the hell is number 70 {sarcasm} and why has he been starting for the last 4 years ive never ever heard his name called during a game, but thats just one small example of the myriad of reasons why this orginization is a mess

Spamorron this is not Madden 2012!!!! Why dont you try and grow some )*$% wise guy!!!!!

boobby12

Please come laugh at those wanting change now. We want to hear your eternal optimistic view of this team and how any other coach would be a mistake.

Then, send us pictures of the next tailgate party. We want proof there is more than one car there.

Face it dolphans, from top to bottom this entire franchise has become a nfl joke!

I will never go to another Fins game as long as Ross owns this team. He not only appears to accept mediocrity, he appears to wear it like a $3000 suit.

We dont need to hire a coach mid-season....we just need to establish that sparano is not the guy for us in miami anymore....thats all there is to firing him!!!

Ross also needs to man up and kick ireland out as well...friendships be damned!!!!

The Colts getting Luck....talk about freakin Luck.

We had so many holes in the offseason and we didn't address any of them.

The "line" that Sparano and Ireland should get familiar with is the unemployment line.
Ross should drop dead.

henne is the real problem. he can't get it together in the red zone. or when the pressure is on and he has to make a play to win.

I BET THE PHINS ARE WORSE THAN THE COLTS AND WE ARE GOING TO GET LUCKY ;)

The plan is to keep morono and to go 1-15 and to pick a punter instead of a QB with the #1 pick...

Fatty I understand and to some extent agree with your feelings. Develop our young players but have the worst record to get the best QB. If they're smart enough to pick a QB!

we lost the game when tony decided to cheer FG's.

Why are you guys so desperate!!
The season is over, no playoffs.
We have a chance to be great for a decade.

We finally hit on a running back, we have an elite receiver, we have two first round draft picks on the oline.

What is missing? besides the two stooges.

Actual quote from Chad Henne press conference today: "I know one thing about these guys, they're not going to stop quitting

Note to chad* when will you start winning???*

Or how about *when will you actually start scoring to win????*

hahaha It is always nice to beat Miami!!

I live in Miami and i hate Miami sports teams!

Thats what you get for being sooo damn arrogant Greg Cote, Jason Taylor, Armondo salguero.. and that idiot Dan MORONo as a tv analyst! hhahahahahah GO BROWNS! I love the direction of Mike Holmgrens Plan!

um ppl are u guys forgetting that andrew luck will b a rookie coming out of college? hello our oline is hoorible, remember david carr in houston his first year?

Well, my life is ok, despite the Fins loss. Being a former congressman does have its perks.

Does Marshall not have 3 drops in End Zone in 3 games?

Rob.

F.......You!

I DON'T THINK THE PHINS CAN BEAT UM OR FIU IN FOOTBALL TODAY , THAT IS HOW BAD THIS REGIME AND PLAYER HAS FALLEN ;)

sparano said: "how we practice is none of your business" when asked a question by the media this week. i think they play like they practice.

LOl...Rob Ryan...

Yes, let's keep the Cowboys-Miami pipline going, b/c that's worked so well! LMAO.

If sparano had a hint of honor, HE SHOULD RESIGN THEN!

on the bright side did anyone see the close up shot of sebastian janikowski when he missed that long field goal? he had a huge dip in his mouth right there on the field haha, how can ya not love a three hunred pound drunk kicker who throws a big lipper in before he trots out to attempt a field goal? god i love that guy!!!

Hartline 4 catches for 87 yrds

Yet he was targeted 0 times in the redzone

Fasano, Bess, Gates, hardly thrown to at all???

Did we actually keep wallace and moore who showed promise in the preseason just to have nothing contributed to this offense in the regular season....

Once again, this coaching staff pulls the clueless shemes in front of our eyes by just keeping these players on the team and not on the field to make plays!!!!

can't fire the 2 stooges, need a very bad losing season. If Ross cant figure that out, he must have inhertited his money.

I'm drafting my NHL team at 8pm.

I have nothing left to say.

Henne just needs more time to master the Mildcat offense. Next year we need to deal some draft picks to get Seabass from Oakland as our long-distance kicker, it'll average us at least three more points a game and take some of the pressure off Henne during those vital third & nines from the 40. Forget Luck: we need kickers, kickers and more kickers.

Seriously though, I'm done with this team until Fist-Pumpin' FG Tony is outta here for good. The game was over as soon as Miami settled for yet another three and Sparano carried on like he'd just won something. An embarrassing display of ineptitude.

Dolphins suck they really really suck !!!

Implosion coming soon.
Maybe we will get some LUCK

Final word: Ari just lost to Sea.
How'd you like to be a Cards fan and it's just sinking in that you're stuck with Kolb for 5 more seasons.

Well, if you cant beat good teams, why settle for beating the ones that are probably worse than yours...makes sense!!!!

At least in sparanos eyes it does....

By the way, the Colts, Chiefs and Jaguar are laying down for Luck!!!!!!
