The Dolphins are 0-3 and they're in disbelief.
They cannot believe they are 0-3. They cannot believe they got there by losing to the Cleveland Browns today, 17-16.
But despite being in last place in the AFC East and one of only two teams standing at 0-3 as of this moment, the club is not planning on firing coach Tony Sparano right now.
I asked a source if there are changes planned in that regard this week. "No, nothing," was the response.
I asked for clarification. Are you 100 percent, I asked.
"One hundred percent," was the emphatic answer.
Sparano, for his part, told me he also has not been told of any change or planned change.
Obviously, folks can sleep on their thoughts overnight. Obviously, we are operating in the span of one hour after a loss and people can change their mind. But that's how things are at the moment as the Dolphins just left Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Go Bucs!!!!!!

I would give my left nut to be average..thats how bad things have been in Miami..Looking through a schedule to find 1 team you might beat...It has to be a total rebuilding from front office to the players.. Someone that will not handcuff Henne...Use Bush in space(not between the tackles...Find an o-line...find db's that can actually cover..d-line that can pressure the qb ...lb's that can tackle or cover a te..Mr Ireland you have kicked me in the "acorns" for the last year.Mr Soprano looking forward to watching you on Jersey shore you fist pumping clown...Mr Ross shove that orange carpetup your billionare ass..

Here are my grades for today's game:
QB: B. Henne had a solid first half. He was in rythm and showed good pocket presence (the area he has improved most on since last year. He missed some throws in the secobd half but Marshall let him down again, and his o-line was terrible in pass protection. Way too many fans on this site bashing Henne. He's not the reason we're 0-3.
RB: B. Thomas has been playing well. I'm a little concerned about his running style though-way too upright and sometimes he needs to just get down instead of trying to get more yards. But he's working hard and is showing some good vision. Bush needs to focus, and the coaches need to use him properly.
O-line: D. Awful. Run support was strong, mostly due to Pouncey and Long, but pass protection is horrendous. It's very disturbing to see Long getting beat so often.
WRs: B-. The only reason this unit gets a B- is due to Hartline. Marshall is becoming a headache.
D-line: D. No pressure whatsoever and allowed Hardesty to make some big runs. When will this unit make a play?
Lbs: C-: They couldn't cover the TEs(sound familiar), had trouble sealing the edge, and missed some easy tackles.
DBs: C-: Jones continues to be a major liability. Carrol had a better game than last week. Unit played decent for most of game but really collapsed when it mattered most (smith and Wilson on td passes).
Coaching: D-: Way too conservative in playcalling on both offense and defense. Daboll had plenty of chances to knock the Browns out but kept it too vanilla. He took shots at the wrong time (last drive, all they needed was 10-15 yards and had the middle of the field wide open but ball went to boundary three consecutive plays). I have yet to see Nolan's exotic blitz scheme.
Overall: D-: They dominated the game offensively and defensively stats wise but they still lost. And they lsot to a mediocre team without it's best offensive player. Panic button is now offcially pressed.

Posted by: Papa John | September 25, 2011 at 08:55 PM
The play-calling is slowly becoming like last year. The red zone calls have been terrible and the last drive of the game today was a joke. When you can't pick up 10-15 yards to WIN A GAME, you deserve to lose. One thing we can't say is that were not used to this. The worst part is there is no Miami Heat coming in a few weeks to bail us out.

I wish the lockout was still going on. This team sucks the life out of me. Love football, starting to hate the dolphins. There is no reason to be optimistic. Worst part is this bunch of heartless quitters make millions. Must be easy to fly home to your mansion and millions after a loss. F U Dolphins, and F U Mr Ross

I still think Sparano is a good coach. I mean, we're 0-3, but it could be worse.

This is the end result of a generation of bad choices. Bad Coaches, inept GMs and owners that should spend their money where they know something. WE SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to take my son to see the Dolphins play the Chargers next week down in SD but I don't see the point.
He's a Chargers fan and I'm not sure I can put up with his trash talking all the way down and all the way back and since he's 9 I can't exactly kick him out of the car and make him walk back to Burbank.

Hey Mando... So what babbling did Morono do in the presser?
Posted by: C63-AMG | September 25, 2011 at 09:04 PM
Well, of course they aren't going to fire him now. They need to keep losing so the guys that come in next year can draft Andrew Luck.
Posted by: Tom | September 25, 2011 at 09:04 PM
We have the ball and only need 20 yards at best, lets throw a bomb to a rookie who hasn't caught a thing deep this year. I am trying hard not to bash my team but COME ON MAN.... dink and dunk for 20 yards....

By mid-season it's time to hire Cowher. Cowher can bring in Dick Lebeau next season. Keep Daboll and either make Cowher GM as well or bring Marino in as GM. Those guys should all work well together. A winning fottball team only time will tell.
Posted by: Chase | September 25, 2011 at 09:06 PM
Morano after the game said that there improving since the first game...But doesn't this dummy know that's because the teams are getting worst that their playing ..and they still are losing!
Posted by: BLACKCEROTE | September 25, 2011 at 09:07 PM
Did Soarano say stuff like "we did some good things out there" or "I'm jot sire what happened, I'm baffled" ?
Or did he just spew out incomplete sentences and say a lot while still saying nothing?
Posted by: C63-AMG | September 25, 2011 at 09:07 PM
Dolphins D stinks! Giving up a 4th quarter, game winning TD drive to the powerhouse Brown's offense (sarcasim intended) - if the Brown's can do it to this D then the rest of the year should be excruciating to watch.

And I suppose it never occured to you that Bill Cowher might want to wait for the offseason and explore ALL his options?
You know, like what any rational and sane person would do?
I understand the frustration and des[eration, but some of this stuff is seriously nutty.

Posted by: Armando Salguero | September 25, 2011 at 08:58 PM
Armando,
I'm not one of those who think Sparano should be fired during the season as I don't think it accomplishes anything. And I too have been willing to give him the benfit of the doubt for three years now. But what troubles me most is that Sparano is suppsoed to be a o-line guru and this unti has been awful under his watch. Even in his first year, so much of their success was due to the wildcat which caught the league off-guard. When they weren't in the wildcat they had very little success.
It's not as if the team hasn't invested in the line either. For first rounders playing on that line, with Sparrano likely having a say in who they took (except Carey).
Sparano needs to coach more aggressively-coach desperately. He's been gun shy the last two games.

Actually yes, Anthony Sparano. Once behavior is exposed in Internet, we Mental Health professionals can diagnose any illnesses on the particular person.
Posted by: oscar canosa | September 25, 2011 at 09:25 PM
Everyone thought I was a bad coach. Hell I took an expansion team over in 1966 and did damn well with it. Then they brought in this Shula guy. But I built those Super Bowl winners.
Posted by: George Wilson | September 25, 2011 at 09:26 PM
Armando,
How can you honestly say Sparano's a good coach?
We passed on almost half of what we needed this offseason. Then instead brought in rejects from other teams. Obviously Sparano was in full agreement of all of Ireland's offseason moves.
If Ireland wouldnt give him what he knew would make this a better 2011 team. Then he should be publically b!tching so everyone knows Ireland's the singular blame.
If he cosigned Irelands bs knowing deep within himself they werent the right moves. Then he deserves to go down with the sinking ship. If totally mutual with all of Ireland's moves he still goes down with the sinking ship.
Either way, a good football coach doesnt sit idley by while his gm continues to hand him flawed talent, act likes everything's fine, then states "he has no answers" publically!
