The picture of the Dolphins after an 0-2 start

Much to digest this early morning so let us begin chewing:

First, it is now officially ridiculous that the Dolphins have not only lost their first two games at home this year, but are 1-11 in their last 12 home games dating back to 2009. The problem is only one of many questions this team has going on right now.

"It’s not a good feeling," Running back Reggie Bush said. "I always believed that you have to defend home at all cost, no matter what. Home field is your home. I look at as an intruder coming into your home to rob you or something and you have to defend home no matter what at all cost and that’s something we have to work on. That’s something we haven’t done the first two games and we got to correct it.”

Things are so bad for the Dolphins at home that some players are actually looking forward to the next three games because they'll be played at home, rather than at home. Brandon Marshall was asked if leaving town could be a blessing in disguise.

“Hopefully it is, we may be a better road team," he said. "It sucks man because our fans were trying to get things going here in this community and get that spirit back up in our stadium and in our community. You have to win; you have to win at home to do that.

"It hurts when you can’t perform in front of your home crowd because they deserve it, they are loyal. Every day I run into fans telling me they have been season ticket holders since ’72, thirty-something years. You want to play for those people its frustrating when you come up short, it’s embarrassing."

As the Dolphins pile home loss after home loss and fail to taste success, at least one player is worried his teammates are going to start suffering confidence problems -- if they aren't suffering those already.

"Yeah, to be honest with you, I’m sure," Jason Taylor said when asked if confidence is losing confidence. "Not everybody but I’m sure there is a faction of the group that’s kind of trying to figure this thing out, figure out where we are.

"That’s kind of the part of losing sometimes is you start to question, second guess a little bit, question yourself, question what you’re doing as a team. Until you win those things will linger out there a little bit. I think winning cures all ills and we’re kind of stuck in mud right now, trying to figure out how to get everyone in this room to believe and play like they expect to win. Not hoping to win but expecting to win."

The Dolphins have some playmakers. Marshall is one at times. Cameron Wake is one at times. But in the last two games, the Dolphins have proven they simply don't have enough playmakers. And the ones they do have, aren't consistent enough.

That's on both offense and defense.

"Case in point, they made more plays then we did," linebacker Kevin Burnett said. "When you get a chance to get them off [the field], you have to get them off and I think we did a good job of that today. I don’t know what they were on third down, but it was good. In the end, they made more plays then we did. They sustained a key drive and they punched it in the end zone.

"You have to take advantage of, as a defense, when you have your thumb on their throat, you got to squeeze, and when you have them backed up, you got to hold them to three or less, preferably none. There are going to be times when the offense carries the defense, defense carries the offense, special team carries both, and today I think it was a total team loss. You can’t put it on any one facet of the game."

So what is the picture of this team that its players just painted?

Well, the Dolphins are a team that doesn't make enough plays, a team on which some players are losing confidence, and a team that has no idea how to protect its house.

Bad.

"Der, duh, der, I dunno"...that's some head coach we have there, I mean come on. He sounds like a loser, just like how his team plays. He "doesn't have any answers", really Tony? Then step aside for someone who might. Same old Dolphins, heroically driving all the way to the 25 to set up yet another FG attempt, maybe, just maybe, the reason why the stadium is half-empty on game day. Same old Dolphins, can't stop anyone when it matters. Same old Dolphins, bringing in some "skill position" player his old team was happy to be rid of, who doesn't do a thing to help them win. Same old Dolphins, no real options at QB, content to settle for those boring "game manager" types who "manage" to do enough to lose every week. Following this team used to be fun, now it's a boring chore, a chore that never pays off with any excitement or any big wins at all. No identity (aside from "sad sacks"), no philosophy, no spark, no one capable of making a highlight reel play: just dull, lifeless, stupid football led by a coach who can't do anything but stammer like an idiot after yet another flaccid defeat. I'm sick of it and I'm sick of waiting and waiting and waiting for more nothing.

JOE SCHMOE,

I LIKE TO ISSUE MY APOLOGY TO YOU ,SINCE YOU HAVE BEEN RIGHT AND MOST OF US ARE WRONG.........

What the Hell are you guys seeing??? Is the sky falling???

Henne is playing good right now, he can't help that he has no blocking up front. His interception was because of Colombo. If Marshall holds onto the catch in the endzone (perfect thrown ball) you wouldn't be saying all this crap.

Be a true fan not an idiot. Either cheer or root for a different team.

Phin Up!

All I have to say is..IF we lose to Cleveland in Cleveland, a team we should beat, although Josh Cribbs and Payton Hillis are tough sob's, we have to beat those guys...The S... WILL HIT THE FAN SO FAST... changes will be made after bye WEEK , bank on it... I would predict>

All those screaming for a change at the top by the bye week forget it. We can 0 for and Ross will not make a change. That requires courage and intelligence to make that call. When have either of those traits been exhibited concerning the 'Phins??

game balls. the phinsiders on the dolphins website are handing out game balls for sunday's performance. how about the team "get some" before they can be given game balls.

Sorry guys this season is already over. I'm a diehard but it seems that this season will be another disaster... again.

Miami has turned into a Hollywood filled with stars calling the shots as part owners. Is this how football is played? Why do you think we got Bush from Hollywood USC? Our team is being ran by Hollywood stars and the importance of REAL football in Miami is gone.

Sporano is like Obama. Everything is falling apart around them but fail to take any blame. Get ready for a crappy season Fin fans. If you fail to identify the problem you're doomed to keep repeating it over and over again.

No surprise here. A bad team from top to bottom. Why Ross is waiting to gut this dead fish is the biggest surprise. He didn't hire these people. Another rotten tuna did. Time to start fresh. Get the new people (Cowher, PLEASE) in place, then let them evaluate this team, and start moving forward right away when this disgrace is over.

Trusnick is kept and 2nd round pick A.J. Edds is cut, signed by New England and was on the field making plays yesterday. That's called bad decision making by the coaches and front office.

Everyone wants to Crown us at the bottom of the division,,,then Crown us becuase we're exactly who we thought were.
GO PHINS....Still love'em.

Guys,

I'm just as sick over this as anyone.

I've had to time to read all the blogs, most of which I do not agree with, and digest the game yesterday.

It is pretty easy to see what the Dolphins were doing yesterday offensively. They were trying to protect the defense. They went away from the 4 WR set to a 3 WR set with an extra TE or H-BACK. They were adding help to the right side, and were trying to take time off the clock and extend drives to keep the DEF offe the field.

I don't have a problem with this, but batted passes, dropped balls and missed FG's don't help. When you get into the RED ZONE, you have to pound it in and make a statement.

Daniel Thomas proved a lot yesterday. This kid has a future, and should be the starter period!

Jake Long has never looked this bad. I hope it is the rust.

I don't know what all the hate is on Hartline is. The guy catches everything.

There should of been more pass plays to Bush. Get the guy in space!

Now the DEF. Once Vontae was out of the game, how is Will Allen not playing corner? The guy was a ALL PRO at the position.

I'm still trying to also figure out why we have turned into a 4-3 DEF with little or few attempts at different looks or blitzs?

News flash, Matt Schaub is a good QB, not even close to Tom Brady. They should have been blitzing like crazy.

As for the DEF line. Absolutely brutal!! Everyone of them needs to look in the mirror.

More to come..

The one thing that is always the same is the all 3 phases can never play well togethor.

Bush has never been a dangerous threat. For his career his has a 4.0 running average, 7.0 receiving average, and longest play ever is 42 yards, not a TD.

Ronnie Brown has multiple 60 yard TDs, even though he had 8 more called back by stupid penalties. Same with Ted Ginn.

The Dolphins have to win against the Browns on Sunday. Period. If they loose that game they will go into the off week 0-4 and I believe Ross will have had enough and fire Sporano. Ross is a $$$ man and he will not take kindly to 40,000 fans watching the Dolphins stumble thru another year. Is it too early to make a wish list of Head Coaches??

Bill Cower
John Gruden
Jeff Fisher
Rob Ryan
Brian Schottenheimer

Mando, please give us some expert intel on the Jason Taylor comments. Is there really anyone on the bench who could be doing a better job, anywhere? I'd like to hope but I don't see how that could be the case.

The first offensive play of every game should be a bomb, no exceptions. It opens up the field for the rest of the game. This game, for some reason, they handcuffed Henne like last year. The batted balls and interception were all on 3 yard pass plays. Throw the flipping ball down the field!!!

12 men in the huddle is coaching.

Never seems to amaze me that whoever plays the Dolphins will have the game of their life...ie Tom Brady last monday among many others, change couldn't come soon enough

Two weeks in a row and I dont think I iheard Burntett, or Misi, or Sean Smith name once. We are who I thought we were ! Chumps. Heres to a 4 win season !! (if we are lucky)

D Man Canada Out !

I see Yeah! has his post bot up again.

Does anyone have Tom Olivadotti's number? Or Rich Kotite?

How much has the team progressed under Sparano? I hate to admit it, but the time has come for an entire organizational shakeup. We have had too many bad draft decisions, bad roster decisions and bad gametime decisions.
We keep doing the same stupid moves and expect different results. Will firing the front office and Sparano bring wins? Probably not. It will bring in some hope. We can hope the continual downslide will eventally stop. With the current regime, there is no hope. No hope equals no bodies in the seats for the home games.

henne lovers = idiots that dont know qb talent when they see it. information for you " YOUR QB IS YOUR LEADER, WHEN YOU LOOSE HE IS ALWAYS TO BLAME, HENNE HAS NICE GAMES SOMETIMES BUT YOUR FIRST 2 YEARS YOU GO 7-9 AND CANT WIN AT HOME....THIS MUST BE THE MAKING OF A GREAT QB......NOT, HENNE IS NOT A SCAPGOAT HE JUST PLAIN SUCKS....

Hene did not allow over 600 yards against New England, Henne did not allow the DE to blow past him and hit the QB's arm, Henne did not fumble the ball, Henne did not miss 2 gimme Field goals. TRICKY you MORON!!!!

You would have to start thinking that no team could be this bad by accident, maybe Ross wants to move the team and this is a way out i don't know but if you look at the FO and Tony it begins to look a little suspicious.

Q: What is the difference between a Miami fan and a whiny little girl?

A: Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

You "fans" think you deserve something. You don't. You barely support your teams. But if they aren't winning it's someone's "fault" and you're being cheated! Whatever.

Learn to be fans.

TS is a nice guy! He can't inspire his team. This bunch is an Embarassment!! Might need to bring in Keith Sims, Larry Little, Jake Scott, Dick Anderson, Larry Czonka as Asst. Coaches to instill in this bunch, what being a professional, and a winner means. most of this bunch should be ashamed to pick up a check!!
why is NC and Trusnik and Colombo still on the roster?????? The conditioning coach should be unemployed!!!! Is Bill Cowher's phone ringing??? Pleas say yes!!

Maybe we should make reggie a wr and Thomas can be our full time back ?? Reggie is to big of a weapon to only be on the field part time...

Burn the Nick Satan Memorial Bubble A.S.A.P.
Call DON Shula to get the team in condition to compete!!!! This once Flagship Franchise, Elite of the Elites is a down right embarassement. DR can give away 50,000 tickets for the next home game and not fill the seats. Ten + years of Mediocre and getting worse all the time!! Bill Cowher where are you?????

It is now offical South Florida I will save my coins and not travel down to see this team play this season. I will have to suffer again living between JETS and PATS country in CT as the laugh of the office. After some promise in the preseason all pieces are falling a part.

I the players must really not like Tony as a coach because they sure are not fighting to keep him around.....get ready Mr. Cowher for an invite to South Beach.

As Ive blogged the past few months, I see 3 games the fish might win, now those are iffy.
Fire Sparano, now. Start over now, and maybe safe next yr, not this yr. Did u see that sorry excuse of a football game yesterday? pitiful. Henne was his usual "all over the place", couldnt complete crap. This is terrible, so Mondo, call'em like u see'em not how Ross wants u to see it.

Already the apologists are in full swing on the blog forums. "It's ok to lose to good and/or playoff teams" and still they fantasize about a 14-2 record. Or even a winning record. Or heck, even an improved record. Ok, maybe real math will work for you loser/dreamers:

Assuming we ONLY lose to "good" teams, and/or "playoff" teams, here's how it works out---

0-2 + ...

Cleveland -W

S.D - L

Jets - L

Denver - W

Giants - L

KC - *L playoffs last year (suck this year? - Win?)

Wash - W* (look good this year - L?)

Buf - W* (look good this year - L?)

Dallas - L

Oakland - W

Phil - L

Buf - W (see above, plus in Buf - L?)

N.E. - L

Jets - L

Best possible = 7-9. Maybe 4-12.

Yes, we may beat a good team or two. We also may lose to a few bad teams. Get my drift? 7-9 isn't an improvement, and it's time to quit apologizing, and do the math. Playoff teams go to the playoffs BECAUSE they beat good teams.

How many more endzone drops does BM get before he gets held accountable?? TS cannot pick OLINE talent! Sorry but the OLINE Sucks big time!!! 4 YRS and TS is STILL saying it's fixable!!! I want to hear something from SR before he totally loses the entire fan base!!
I know this is only 2 games, but this is a bottom feeding season shaping up fast! We were supposed to be contenders! JI is not going to turn this organization around. I think that is clear to anyone who is watching!!

playoffs...are you kidding me... playoffs...hell i just hope we can win a game.

we play to win the game...

maybe they need a little more practice?...practice ...you talking bout practice...man... you gotta be kidding me man...what are we talking bout...

ooooh whatever, thougt these quotes mirror us to the tee...!

Big, big, big, dolphin fan.....but let's face it......the dolphins sucks.....bottom line.

I really don't think that the dolphins will ever be a superbowl type of team ever again..I think those days are over with....too many mistakes has happen since the don Shula days.....Miami is just another team in the NFL..nothing more nothing less.I've come to grips with this....I think the dolphins fans should understand this and accept the fact that will never be a superbowl contender. The only thing we have going in Sade county is the Miami Heat....a class A organization......love you Pat Riley........GO HEAT.......

my question is; where the f@#$# are the captains? I would like to see those guys get on the youngsters face and force them to play better... If not, then Sparano needs to get new captains. But then again, he's no leader himself...

What they need to do is sit Colombo on the bench, and return the $$ to Carey and send him back to RT, wait until next draft to get a better RT, for now, that's what you have...
GET a new RG or sign a O'Hara and move Pouncey... It hurt to see Henne get pressured from Colombo's side during that interception deep in our area.

I'm tired of Sparano; I actually gave up on him already. He's no coach.. I have no respect for him, and I think it's BS that his players believe in him.. GET SOMEONE ELSE ASAP!!! Heck, hire the best OC in the league as a Head Coach, and try to keep Mike Nolan as your Def coordinator...

Cooz said"But there is SOMETHING WRONG with the way this team behaves and responds during games."

quite possibly, but what is strange is that for MOST of our games last year, our team fought like HE!!...against the Steelers, Packers, and others.

There IS something different this year. Wondering if the damage done to Tony in the OFF SEASON carried over...a lack of deep down respect.

The lockout can't be blamed when you see several rookie QB's with NO off season workouts playing big time NFL pitch and catch, and we can get in to the end zone.

I'm not falling into the suck for Luck trap. From a personnel stand-pont it just seems to me our needs are far greater than just a new QB.
I want wins, or Tony and the FO MUST go at season's end.

There is NO one on this staff that deserves to be a HC.

Let's assume TS would be fired... Does anybody in this forum really thinks the FO would hire a guy like Cowher? Nope. They're too dumb to do that. Let's see who would be available... Hmmm mangini, the former mate of Daboll, as they worked closely together for some years. i wouldn't be surprised. No weird decision of this FO would surprise me anymore. Let's get ready for a 1-15 season (3-13 at best).
Hell Lay is already preparing the new stadium for the LA Dolphins.

Some teams find a way to win. the fins --these days -- find a way to lose. it doesn't help that henne can't seem to consistently punch the ball into the end zone, but dan carpenter missing two very makable field goals has to be the single most surprising thing of sunday's game. off course thomas was a great surprise, but what wasn't much of a surprise was that once again, a key part of the team's game fell on its face. it seems that with sparano, there's always fu's somewhere, someplace. for two full years, and two games into the third, henne consistently fails to make a big, game-winning play, and under sparano. the team appears sloppy, ill-prepared and noticeably inferior to top-tier teams.... the team is starting to feel woefully like the los angeles clippers. a team that will never win because its owner could care less. i believe steve ross has crunched the numbers and likes them as is. the team we all want, is simply not coming.... my guess is that steve ross looks at the owners intent on winning as ridiculous businessmen. as long as we'll be eventually (soon?) looking for a new coach and quarterback, i say why not an owner too? trade the three of them for a second-round pick?? good luck!!

In 2003 I started working for a development company that had a great piece of property.
Only one problem Management. The project manager was in way over his head. It was obvious. As things got really bad. Other employees started trying to manage the project. It was like a free for all because there was no leadership. What's my point?
That is where the players comments about practice and other things come from. NO LEADERSHIP and POOR MANAGEMENT. When the employees start to think they run the show you have huge issues. Its the same thing JT did before. Not his fault, POOR MANAGEMENT..FIRE IRELAND

The problem starts with Ross, owner.
I am not a conspiracy guy, but, whats his motivation for settling for mediocrity at best.
He may be the play caller driving us into the ground.
Tying hands somehow of the GM and Coach?
Maybe he is honestly extremely inept as an owner and has no clue. All about half time and a circus atmosphere where the game is just a side show. To big of an ego to say, I am in over my head....
The Dolphins deserve better. We are self destructing and the owner is doing what???
Something stinks here and its at the top...
