Dolphins banged up on a short week

It's a short week to prepare but also a short week to recover from injuries as the Dolphins prepare for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

The team has a lot of recovering to do.

Brandon Marshall has a quadriceps injury and missed practice today. Reggie Bush has a groin injury and missed practice today. Reshad Jones has a knee injury he's nursing and he also missed practice today.

The club also has a handful of players that worked on a limited basis as they also continue to nurse injuries. Chris Clemons (hamstring), Daniel Thomas (hamstring), Cameron Wake (hamstring), Nolan Carroll (hamstring) and Will Yeatman (shoulder) all were limited during today's practice.

It's the coaching staff that's playing not to lose, rather than playing to win (see Browns, Jests games for most blatant examples).

The team is $10 million under the salary cap.

Rather than hoping for a loss, most people are "living in the moment" and looking at the positive side of all the losing going back to the end of last season.

It's not as if the Dolphins are jettisoning starting players and putting back-up QBs in starting roles- like the Broncos.

All of these sore hamstrings jive with the players saying that practices have been awful. We are totally out of shape, constantly getting winded, cramping up, and now everyone is pulling hamstrings. Pathetic.

I totally agreed with Devils Advocate.Soiled Bottom thanks for allowing me to laugh at what seems to be a lost cause. But, I for one am hoping for a 11-5 season. Not a 0-16 season.I know it is not likely to happen until it does.I will not root against my team ever.I think everyone here knows it all starts with the front line on both sides off the ball.We had a pretty decent line when we had Hudson Houck as our line coach. When he left and Sparano took over it got worse every year. The year we did do well, the running game didn't really take off until they threw out the wildcat after 4 games of what we are seeing today. It is the line play that makes a so-so Qb look good and good QB look great.Same as the D-line.When our Dline plays well it trickles down to the secondary. It is not their fault our d-backs jack off in their gloves and can't catch ints. Catch some of those ints last year and we make the playoffs.

Would be nice to transition from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck with one "throw away" season in between. Talk about passing the torch. Favre did it with Rodgers, but it was kind of a push out the door. If not, Rodgers probably wouldn't be tearing it up quite yet.

I have zero faith in the Dolphins to do anything right either on the field or off. Which (using reverse psychology a little bit) means that they should finish with the worst record in football

Flavor Flam Fin Fan.....

I understand where you were going....but I got to say....bringing up the Lions as an example of fan loyalty might not be the best idea....

the Lions fans are on record as....

1. wearing paper bags on their heads to game....
2. organized boycotts/staged walk-outs of Home games....
3. it is rumored that Matt Millen recieved Death Threats....

To my Knowledge we have done none of these things....but I think its safe to assume that the Lions wanted to do anything to UPGRADE thier team....

On their blog site I am sure there was some ......whatever the slogan was for Stafford......and the QB before that...and the QB before that.....

When they drafted WR Back-to back-to back (i think).......with the #1 pick....i am sure fans were pissed......their WRs are the Dolphins equivalent of DL/OL......

We as fans have by no means approached the status of Lions frustration.....

and I pray we never do....

Why would Brandon Marshall show up for practice when he does not show up for the games?

Tony must GO!

Andrew Luck will be a nice consolation prize for what is turning out to be a miserable season. I, for one, want to see the team win every time it steps out on the field. I never root for my team to lose.

On the other hand, the hope that I have for them to win games and play well will most likely not be realized this season. If we wind up 1-15 and get Luck, so be it.

There is one person out there that should be hired as a consultant immediately. His name is Shula.

I say forget the politically correct thing..its been over a decade since we had a good QB...we can tank one season for a franchise QB guys

Meet the new QB same as the old QB---- who says we won't get fooled again.

"Sparano may be the most personally likable coach since Shula, but he get's my vote for the Dolphins all time worst coach bar none."

I agree 100%. Was just telling a good friend (another unfortunate soul because he, like me, is a lifelong Dolphins fan) that I fell this team is far worse than Camoron's '07 squad. Porr, por, por coaching, not just head coaching, but OC, DC and position coaches have put together a collection of players (notice I did not say team?) who are poorly prepared, poorly conditioned, poorly motivated and poorly disciplined WEEK IN, WEEK OUT! Worst Dolphins squad I HAVE EVER WITNESSED. Period. WE can only hope for Luck (not sold on the left-handed QB - Landry Jones) and with that 1st choice a quality head coach and GM. By the way, did I mention this is THE WORST-COACHED (and managed = GM) Dolphins squad I have EVER watched!!??!! Have been a fan since a kid, having started going to games @ the Orange Bowl in 1970. Worst by far, totally, no other regime's squad even coming close. I am stressing this point because it's true and obvious to all Dolphin fans witnessing this debacle.

Man all those guys hurt. Man they got their buts kicked.

Meant to say: Poor, poor, poor coaching (DOUBLE-POOR)!!!!

blindref: Hahahahahahahahahahahah!!! Good song!

How about this one: "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?"

I have never contemplated not watching a Dolphins game in any season since I became a fan. Today I caught myself thinking about cancelling my Sun. ticket (living in Atlanta these days) just so I could save $33 a month. I am thinking about it, but won't do it. I am a die-hard, but this stumbling, bumbling debacle created by Bill "worthless" Parcells is hard to watch. I find myself apologizing to anyone I speak with when I admit I'm a Dolphins fan. What a fall from respectability. Why hasn't Shula and Marino called Ross and said "Hey, when you start the next re-build, I would like to give you my 2 cents for free. You don't have to take any of my advice, but please consider it."

I'm with flavor and the other true fans.

You suck for luck people are pathetic and need to move along.

Go Dolphins!

Go Dolphins!

Go where?

They stink.

Just lose, baby!!

Can no longer understand "suck for luck".

WE'RE LONG PAST "SUCK FOR LUCK". WE'LL GET LUCK BECAUSE WE "JUST PLAIN SUCK".

MONDAY NIGHT FULLY SHOWED WE ARENT "TANKING" ANYTHING. WE REALLY ARE JUST THAT BAD!

BEGINING TO SHOW DURING THE CBA SHORTENED OFFSEASON THIS TEAM WASNT REALLY WORKING OUT. dONT KNOW WHAT THEY DID, BUT CLEARLY HARDLY ANYONE'S IN SHAPE.

WE USUALLY FADE DURING THE 2ND HALF OF GAMES. NOW 2011 WE COMPLETELY FOLD DURING 2ND HALF OF GAMES.

I THINK ALL THAT THE DOLPHINS DID DURING PLAYER ORGANIZED WORKOUTS WAS BLOW SMOKE UP EACHOTHER'S A'SSES AND DAYDREAMED HOW GREAT THEY WOULD BE IN 2011.

THEN THE "REAL" SEASON STARTED.............

This team plays like they all just shot off for the second time and need rest.

Suck For Luck was designed as a slogan to intentionally tank the season.

Bad News:

WE AINT INTENTIONALLY LOSING FOLKS. WE JUST PLAIN SUCK!

We should hire mike singletary on an interim basis...if nothing else he will call the players out and they might actually play hard as an entire team.

I hope all these guys sit out. Frankly, I'm a little worried about the Broncos. (worried about Miami beating them, that is). They suck too. Fins showed a little too much heart in the 1st half on Monday. Fortunately, their ineptness was able to overcome the effort.

We need to really focus this week on missing tackles, dropping passes, and dropping INT's. Also running out of bounds with a clear path to the endzone. Hope they spend some extra time on that this week in practice. You know Tebow is gonna throw us a couple knuckle balls. Hopefully they go towards S. Smith.

Lets get to 0-15 and see where we are. Hopefully we'll have #1 locked up by the last game. New Years day vs. Jets. How sweet would it be to beat NY on the last day of the season and have it be the game that knocks them out of a playoff spot. And then we get Luck. Win/win!

This team doesn't have to try to lose, just showing up on game day seems to do the trick.

I just checked out the injury reports from other teams, like the Texans. They are so much more "banged up". I guess it's all relative, eh?

And as for Suck for Luck....
How do you all know they'd pick a QB if they had the first pick? Maybe the OL guru will take a guard.
I don't think this organization has learned a thing over past three years. The only bit of originality or guts they have shown was in the Wildcat and (sadly) drafting Pat White.

Singletary? What pathetic fans. The guy was a total disaster as a coach. There has never been a great player yet that has been a great coach.

The story is stupid.
What if he wins 4 in a row and then loses the last 7?
What if he's replaced with Mangini and Mangini wins 5 of last 11?

And as for Suck for Luck....
How do you all know they'd pick a QB if they had the first pick? Maybe the OL guru will take a guard.

IF THIS HAPPENED WE WOULD STILL NEED A NEW COACH AND GM. THE CITY OF MIAMI WOULD STORM THE DAVIE PRACTICE FACILITIES AND COMMENCE A 2 MAN HANGING RIGHT THERE ON THE SPOT.

MIAMI POLICE WOULD HAVE QUITE A QUANDRY ON THIER HANDS. WHO EXACTLY DO YOU ARREST WHEN 100,000 RIOTOUS FANS STORMED THE FACILITY AND HUNG IRELAND/SPARANO?

Singletary? What pathetic fans. The guy was a total disaster as a coach. There has never been a great player yet that has been a great coach.

---------------------------------------------------------

Mike Ditka......

The wildcat?
When Chad Henne got here this team was 1-15 and had a QB named NoodleArm and they were running the wildcat as a base offense.
The wildcat is BACKDOOR football.
It makes all of the teams players, employees and fans look like homos.

What about Ditka?

Maybe you should think JUST a LITTLE bit before call other pathetic....

IF ANY THOUGHT THE LIBERTY CITY AND OVERTOWN RIOTS WERE BAD. WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MIAMI GETS 1ST OVERALL PICK AND DOESNT SELECT ANDREW LUCK.

ROSS, IRELAND AND SPARANO COULD DIE. PLUS THE DAVIE TRAINING FACILITIES AND JOE ROBBIE STADIUM(I STILL REFER TO IT AS) WOULD BE BURNED TO THE GROUND.

THIS RIOT WOULD MAKE PAST RIOTS LOOK LIKE KIDS PLAYING IN A SANDBOX.

GUYS ITS JUST AN "INTERIM" COACH. IT COULD BE MICKEY MOUSE, INTERIM DOESNT MEAN PERMANENT. ANYONE OF US COULD BE NAMED "INTERIM HC" IT DOESNT MEAN A THING!

THE NAMES SOME OF YOU ARE KICKING OUT WOULD NEVER ACCEPT TO COME IN AS INTERIM. IT MEANS THEY'RE HERE FOR A QUICK PAYCHECK ONLY AND WOULD COMPLETELY ANIALLATE WHATEVER CREDIBILITY THEY DO HAVE LEFT.

WE DONT SUCK FOR LUCK. WE JUST PLAIN SUCK!

Luck is a good one that's for sure..Landry Jones though I would just about be equally as happy to get in Miami...he's gonna be a great nfl QB too in my opinion....

Kris...good call man, that guy is the pathetic one for sure bro

We might as well bring TO in this year..what the heck right lol

Don't forget Luck can still stay in college another year. Wouldn't that be the dolph ins luck? We need a backup plan in case this happens, any other qb worth the #1 overall pick? We ain't winnin a game by the way.

Ugh, this sucks royally.......

Maybe they'll be better this week with less preparing time since it sure seemed like having two weeks to prepare was obviously too much....

Mando, you gave the injury report for individual players but it would have been just as well to have reported it this way: Dolphins Injury Report: Entire Organization, Black Eye, Bruised Ego. Doubtful: All starters on defense, offense and Head coach (will be lucky to last to game time)

I am beginning to believe that many different posters here are the same Person.

Is that your doing, Armando, to have 1 or 2 Posters under different names write to increase hits, or is it an independent, single A-shole who is doing it?

Looks like all players want to stay out of the games with fake injuries!!! Lol crazy season! And coach hasn't lost the locker room Reeeeaaallllllyyy! HA!

Great points Devil, I cant bring myself to get on that lose it all bandwagon either..But sometimes find myself torn, because we do need a quality QB, but in my opinion if you dont change the leadership it does not matter who you bring in. Ireland should have been gone a long time ago..After all he has the final say so on player, personel decisions. He has the keys to the Kingdom not Sparano..and NO im not a Sparano supporter..But Ireland left us coming into the draft without an RB, he also failed to bring in a quality QB to challenge Henne (however those options were limited). He did however draft a gimp legged former QB turned RB who cant get healthy (although he has shown signs of promise), He also cut your most reliable weapon on the offence(Polite). No wonder Sparano does not go for 4th and 1, the team has not been able to achieve that all season, your gaurantee for 4th and 1 is no longer there. And at the wishes of most all the fans on this blog he cuts one of the most valuable assets on the defence..The GM should GO NOW!!! period..someone, a panel, anything needs to be brought in now to start asessing this team and its staff...And what if Cowher or Fisher is not available, what Star quality coach do you bring in. Most star quality coaches are on star quality teams..

LOVE Andrew Luck's dad, Oliver, putting the word out that his son has zero interest in playing for anyone tanking it.

That means Andrew Luck wants absolutely NOTHING to do with your whole "Suck for Luck" campaign. And he's good enough to enforce it by not signing with anyone who does it, much as Elway refused to sign with the Colts when they had the first pick back in 1983.

If you "Suckers" weren;t already insane, this should drive you right over the cliff.

MIAMI POLICE WOULD HAVE QUITE A QUANDRY ON THIER HANDS. WHO EXACTLY DO YOU ARREST WHEN 100,000 RIOTOUS FANS STORMED THE FACILITY AND HUNG IRELAND/SPARANO?

Who would object to a puplic hang of these two, You can Also have a "Hanging Chad" Party too...

OH, WHAT BLISS! YOU HAVE IGNITED MY LOINS LIKE NOBODY SINCE PAULA DEEN!

LOVE Andrew Luck's dad, Oliver, putting the word out that his son has zero interest in playing for anyone tanking it
----------------------------------------
Read that article too. Seems possible that Luck has all the options, he can stay in college or like Elway dictate where he wants to ply. However there are other QB's in this draft. Some reports say a better draft class than when Marino came in..

Hey folks,

The "Suck for Luck" debate thing is gonna rage for an entire season if the current Fins don't pony up a few wins to prove the Magic Bullet guys wrong.

How does one even begin to quantinfy whether a team is truly tanking or not?

Are all the injuries real?

Is the coach specifically making some terrible coaching gaffes or is that just "Good 'Ol Sparano"? (Anyone that can watch the replay where Hartline catches the ball near the sidelines landing on his hip...How the HELL does Sparano not go for his challenge flag with 3 timeouts on the board and it being a 1st down in the 3rd quarter?)

The player efforts...how do we quantify it besides us trying to gauge how much a player is hustling versus just sucking.

Maybe this team is weak minded in that certain players won't battle as hard no that they are 0-5?

We have to remember this was a 6-7 ball game into the 2nd quarter with a ton of dropped passes, some obvious mis-reads and a new QB with limited reps.

They Jets went FOUR straight 3 and outs to open the game...the Defense was crushing the Jets for a while.

It could have been 21-0 late in the second and stealing the Jets gumption.

Sadly, it wasn't, sadly, good teams don't get drummed in the second half. Sadly, good teams sack the opposing QB, sadly, good teams score points...The Fins are just plain sad.

Like many have stated, I believe they are trying for the most part but are just not cohesive enough to win.

I will root them on but more than ANY other year I say the losses have ALL the silver lining and the wins only rent a mini blip of Fin pride. During the game I still scream at the tv with bad play calls, drops, misreads, lack of pressure etc.

Cheers,

Ditka was a good coach?

People like to say Parcells didn't win anything without Belichek. Well Ditka didn't win without Buddy Ryan. How did Ditka do in New Orleans?

Ditka? I'll pass.

Now we know how Bengals-Lions- fan of old felt. At least those two teams are on the up swing now. We are in trouble. Our owner is consulting Eric Mangini on a regular basis. He is a twice fired NFL coach. That pretty much tells us what kind of trouble this franchise is in.

I have been thinking of an analogy that would some up the quandry of actually embracing the "Suck for Luck" mentality.

*Sidenote I freakin HATE to lose and it cuts me deep when the Fins lose. I dwell on it all week.

That said my analogy goes like this:

In America most all are taught to pay all of our bills and honor all debts.

When one buys a house (typically their largest investment in their lifetime) they are happy and want to work hard to pay it off.

When the economy sours and the the value of their home goes way down and they are upside down they can do two things.

#1 Keep up the fight and keep paying on a mortgaged home that is $100,000 - $400,000 upside down. Thus your brand new neighbor gets to buy the same house across the same house across the street for todays value or has a loan at $100K-$400K less than your mortage. You neighbors payments is probably hundreds less than yours at this time. It's ingrained into our society that you are shameful if you don't pay the original loan as agreed.

#2 Even though you can afford to make the payment (barely) you can short sale or walk away and let the bank foreclose on the home. Your credit will take a big hit and then you can downsize and either live in and apartment or rent a much cheaper house while you repair your credit.

Sorry for the long winded mortgage scenario but here is my analogy.

Scenario #1 is like the Fins fans that say "HELL NO WE AINT TANKING"! "It's against all things that are right". Prognosis for paying off the mortgage early or having extra spending money is very limited. They are strapped with a high mortgage note, have no equity to tap and basically move along status quo for many many years.

Scenario #2 is like the Fins fans that say "Suck for Luck". In the short term you are disgraced and have the bad credit. The long term is much brighter with much more spendable income. In a couple of years they are back into the market at a value range that is MUCH Better. If interest rates hold low they can buy back into the same neighborhood at much less cost per month. It's called a strategic default and has much more to do with fiscal sense than business morality.

Any real fans (and I still roundly include both types as true fans) have the same goal. Win as fast as possible and as much as possible. Scenario two fans simply feel that it may be a quicker and more able ticket to long term success.

I hope I didn't confuse too many of you.

I hope both factions can see the others point. That all completely understand that in this nebulous world of broken draft picks, shinning vets going down to injury, games lost on a bad call or missed field goal, weather, energy, synergy, passion, lame ducks and paychecks parity is close at hand.

Give us decent quaterback and WR play, a pass rush and some well designed AND well executed plays and the Fins can win. With or without Luck (Both types).

Cheers,

It's late, gotta be up in 3 hours.

Ross is a billionaire and a NEW owner. He will figure it out imho. I think he has a plan i.e. No band aid players, seek out a competant coach,GM and QB. He obviously was shopping the right coach but couldn't reel him in. Harbaugh is tearing it up in SF.

He spent tons of money on free agents Dansby, BM, Gerbil, Smiley, Bush and others. They were all suppose to boost us up and have not as of yet. Fault the talent evaluators and coaches calls, schemes and players themselves. If you starred in Denver or Arizona or anywhere you should make plays in Miami too.

Change is ahead. I do believe better days are ahead. Maybe this year with some wins and better play and if not 2012.

Cheers,

sound like this team is not condition to play football. I bet you that most teams during the lock out got together and work out somewhere and stayed together. Looks like your 2011 team sat around and got fat and lazy. Thats ok as they still making good money going thur the motions at 40%. Tell me who cares? How can anyone put out a team like this and be proud. Oh I forgot we are playing for the number one pick. What a way to get anyone to play for a team like this
