There are more than a few Denver Broncos fans in the house. The Gator pep band or whatever they call it is here. Lots of Gator fans.
Troubling.
Anyway, the Dolphins inactives today are Reshad Jones, Steve Slaton, Ike Alama-Francis, Ryan Cook, Will Barker, Will Yeatman, and the mighty Pillip Merling. Tyrone Culver starts for Reshad Jones.
There will be a live blog today. It happens in the comments section below. I update the blog at the start of every quarter. So join me at kickoff.
Yippie!

Yeah is dead!

...Not much to get excited about anymore. Sad that the only real reason I care to see the Phins win is purely monetary(Have bets out against a few Donkey fans). Seriously. I know the players ho are out there desperatley need a win to validate their hard work blah blah blah. But do we make ourselves worse by winning a few games? I think so. As much as it stings.

...Cuban. Yup. But it is only because they are regulars at the bar..and they will spend whatever they win anyway..So I really can't lose.

I think Moore throws 2 TDs today. One for us, One for them. Tebow scores 17 and we tack on 2 FPsOG.
Denver wins: 24 - 13

They should make Long inactive.....
Sporano effed up his Carreer in a meaningless preason game a year ago...and Long hasn't been the same.....
Thanks Coach Tony......
What a legacy you left....
11-5 (luck obviously)
7-9
7-9
0-5 (so far)
and ruined a potential HOFer's carreer......nice

To all that wanted Ponder or Gabbert or Palmer or Orton, etc, etc, patience is a virtue.
I didn't expect that we'd be in position to get the first pick of the draft, b now more than ever I'm glad we didn't a QB first round last year.
Henne returning as back up would be fine with me. Actually it's what I've been saying since we drafted him. All off season I was in favor of giving him this season to find out absolutely what we had. I noted that in the worst case scenario, he'd be one of the top back ups. Having said all that, I don't think it happens. Henne FINALLY has out to this nightmare, he's taking it.
To the poster above that asked why worry about back ups, I have to agree with all except the QB position. Had the FO not mismanaged the QB situation so badly, we'd be looking pretty FVCKING good next pre season with Luck starting and Henne taking second team snaps.
Having said that though, you hit the nail on the head. The hang up for Fatty and the Irishman was just as you say. Their prototypical acorn was a slow lumbering, multi positional back up that offered solid depth at best. Henne is the greatest example of this, but of course the FO blew it here as well.
We have a bunch of solid to great depth guys, NO STAR POWER.
I'm looking forward to us possibly drafting Luck, but until the powers that be are out the door, I'm not holding my breath.
Ireland, SpOrano and Nolan have had more than their fair share of chances, line em up in the cros hairs and pull the trigger. Daboll hasn't really gotten a fair shake(I think he'll end up being a good OC), but he'll be a non factoring victim of circumstance. Let him get his chance elsewhere. I want an entirely new FO from top to bottom. Then I can start getting excited about LUCK.

Fodder, We think alike, a 11 point win by The Mighty Tebow's, Either way it's 1 more nail in the coffin for Fisty and Clueless...... But GO FINS..
Posted by: Cuban Menace | October 23, 2011 at 12:28 PM
Big question:
Will the Dolphins use Brandon Marshall to attack Champ Bailey ala Darrelle Revis last week.
Brian Daboll and Matt Moore need to spread the wealth around to more receivers.
Daniel Thomas HAS to get going. We need a ground game.
Reggie Bush between the tackles?
C'MON MAN!!!!
Posted by: Tim in Tampa | October 23, 2011 at 12:29 PM
The Dolphins outgained New York in the first half, 215-100. The Jets had only one drive prior to intermission in which they had a first down. Yet, the Jets led 14-6.
More of the same??

POWER RANKINGS FOR THE MIAMI DOLPHINS:
1) Yahoo Sports - #32
2) Bleacher Report - #32
3) ESPN - #30
4) Fox Sports - #32
5) CBS Sports - #31
6) WalterFootball - #32

If Henne IS what some believe he is.....ie; poizen....odin....others....
Then I would assume that the new regime would not shoot themselves in the foot to get rid of a QUALITY QB......even a back-up....after all....QUALITY QBs are hard to come by.....
No GM/Coach is gonna let Henne walk if he is worth ANYTHING.....
So lets see what happens Jan 1st........
PS....if we had drafted Mallet in the 3rd round.....we woudn't need luck....and this FO could draft their coveted OL in the 1st RD of 2012......
Posted by: kris | October 23, 2011 at 12:33 PM
So now it's come down to honoring the opposing quarterback in order to sell tickets. I could understand if Tebow played for UM and was now a Dolphin, but he played for UF and now plays for the Broncos. Why in the world does Ross feel the need to honor him? Oh yeah, ticket sales. That's disgraceful and disrespectful to the players and Dolfans!

WITH THE FIRST CHOICE IN THE 2012 DRAFT THE MIAMI DOLPHINS SELECT...

With the number one selection in the 2012 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select:
From Division III Amherst College: A third string ball holder for field goals kickers.
WooHoo!!

When this team cleans house at the end of the season, Mike Dee needs to go with everyone else. If you are Dolphins fan you need to be tired of being made a fool of by the ownership, management and coaching of this team.
Ross needs to get his act together and he needs to do it soon before he alienates the entire fan base of this team. Whether the Dolphins win today, or not, Ross's short time as owner has damaged the credibility of this team to the point that he may be forced to sell or continue to lose a fortune. He needs to make a decision that being owner of this team means he takes responsibility for the team's success and failures and he must take hold of the reigns and decide that he will do what it takes to get the team back to respectability.
Ross has forgotten, or maybe never realized, that the fans go to the stadium to watch football. Miami Dolphin fans are there to see their team, not to see Fergie or a number of other celebrities. Let's get back to the way things used to be in South Florida and that is celebrate the team and it's history. Do the right thing Mr. Ross; put the "football" back into the experience at SunLife stadium.

Oh Yeah, one more thing, How Stupid is it Honoring the 08 gators in Miami????., Ross really is a Idiot...., From here on out Steven Ross will now be refered to as Idiot Ross.......
Posted by: Cuban Menace | October 23, 2011 at 12:45 PM
Probably should have consulted Nick Saban (Alabama) or Les Miles (LSU) on how to beat Tebow.
Posted by: Tim in Tampa | October 23, 2011 at 12:47 PM

Go Phins!!!

Posted by: Chris in the 623 | October 23, 2011 at 12:49 PM
kris,
And there's no guarantee we wouldn't still e looking for a QB. Wasn't it yourself and other who have been arguing for the longest time that the only way to win in this league is to draft a FIRST round QB? You've even given us the sats many times. So why would we draft a guy in the third round. I for one, am happy we're in this position where maybe we can get it right this time.
Posted by: Craig M | October 23, 2011 at 12:50 PM
Don Shula came on the field in a cart this afternoon. Tim Tebow came over to greet him and actually sat in the cart next to him for a few seconds before going into the locker room.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | October 23, 2011 at 12:50 PM
Tim,
They can just consult Henne.
Henne's last game was the Orange Bowl during Tebow's Heisman year.
Mich won game.
Henne was mvp.
Posted by: PriceMaster | October 23, 2011 at 12:51 PM
Not even going to bothr watching the game today. It's too nice out in Ontario, so I'm going to get some yard work done and some reading. I'll check in with the team later in the day to see how things are going. Have a good one guys....

Very interesting PriceMaster.
It would have been must-see TV if Henne were playing.
Now it's must-flee TV!!

I think for Miami it will be crucial how we play early. If we get a lead confidence should build. If not it's possible "here we go again" may set in and it could get ugly.

Just wondering how the Dolphins would feel if the Hurricanes honored the Patriots at their next home game?
Armando Great Tweet!
Posted by: bobbyd12 | October 23, 2011 at 01:03 PM
Tim,
That was the 4th BCS game that Henne started.
In fact I believe he is the only person to ever start 4 BCS games at QB.
Add to that that he started everygame at Michigan for 4 years, holds every Mich and Big-10 passing record and had the team in the top 25 for 45 out of 48 weeks.
Henne wasn't holding back this talented bunch, he was elevating them to middle of the pack.
Posted by: PriceMaster | October 23, 2011 at 01:03 PM
The draw is so cool the Dolphins try it on back to back plays!

Already trying to paint rosey pictures. Your Mom should get you some crayons. Mallet hasn't even thrown an NFL pass, but yet you can tell we wouldn't need to draft Luck?
Mallet is NO LUCK!
PS: It won't be up to the new FO to shoot themselves in the foot. Henne won't return to Miami, (look out Kris, here it comes), PERIOD!
;)
