Players react to another loss, being 0-5

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- I have nothing else to say about Miami's 24-6 loss to the Jets. I've made peace with the result in this column that appears in today's Herald.

This, meanwhile, is what players said after the Dolphins lost to the Jets on Monday night:

Wide receiver Bradon Marshall, who dropped a TD pass and fell out of bounds as he was running up the sideline on a play that could have been yet another score: "It's tough right now. When you lose, everything looks bad. It's a nasty feeling in the building. The only thin we can do is try and fight to get a win. We're not going to give up. We have way too much character in the locker room. We owe it to the city of Miami. We owe it to ownership to play better. This is embarrassing. We have way too many players in our locker room to be sitting at 0-5. Hopefully we can get this turned around."

Outside linebacker Jason Taylor, who had one tackle, on whether he felt a sense of 'here we go again' when the game began to slip away: "I never feel that way."

Tight end Anthony Fasano, who caught one screen pass for 13 yards, on whether he felt a sense of 'here we go again,' when the game began to slip away: "When things go badly, it's tough not to revert back to what you've been doing but good teams don't do that. I think we're a mentally strong team, but we're not showing it right now."

Safety Yeremiah Bell, who led the team with seven tackles, on whether the effort was good for four quarters: "Oh, the effort is there. We're just not getting it done. We have to get that first one out of the way. With our team, we haven't figured out how to get on top and how to win games yet. We get out there, we're playing hard, but it's just things aren't going our way sometimes. We're giving up plays here and there and it's hurting us."

Defensive end Kendall Langford, who had one tackle, on whether the effort was good for four quarters: "We're digging ourselves in a hole. Miami is beating Miami. Those guys, they made some plays out there and hats off to them. But at the end of the day we got to play 60 minutes of football. We can't just play 30 minutes."

And finally, linebacker Karlos Dansby, who had six tackles and a sack:

THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS TO LET TUNA GO .

This team has been classless ever since the Robbie family sold the team and the car salesman forced Shula out. That will be nearly two decades, expect another decade of losing, you are looking at a joke of a franchise, Ross deserves this.

This is actually perfect for us, we are going to be terrible in the perfect year because there are going to be top flight QB's available at the top of the draft. We just need to let Sparano be Sparano and Moore be Moore and this is going to work out perfect for us in getting Andrew Luck. Last night I saw players give up and that means that the end is near. Hopefully they do not screw this up and win a few games. Denver next week is critical as they are having a fire sale and seem to be all in for Luck. They are trading away their entire team and have stuck a terrible Tebow in there at QB. But we have the advantage, they managed a win and if we can keep this o-fer streak alive we can get Luck and finally turn this franchise around.

Dear Mr. Salguero

I understand what your article is trying to do.

I understand coach Sparano is a likeable man in person.

Fact is he is embarrasing the Dolphins.

Sparano is like a family member with a learning disability.

He wears one of the special helmets to protect his head for when he gets over excited does a fist pump and falls on the ground.

Neighbors look out there windows and say there's that Miami coach walking around outside unsupervised with a helmet on his head.

Coach Sparano has HEAD COACH special needs and we as a Dolphin family should do whats best for the Dolphins.

Ship Coach Sparano off to Dallas along with his slightly less learning impaired sibling Jeff Ireland...Jerry Jones is familier with there handicaps and special needs.

Soiled :)

The dolphins should just relinguish the season and formally quit and abstain from from particpating in anymore games.

THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS TO LET TUNA GO .

Are you kidding me he is the one who got us where we are!!!

Jets looked brutal, we looked worse. It is sad, sad to get beaten by 'Off the Mark' Sanchez.

Really, run the clock out before halftime with over a minute left on the clock. I have never seen that give-up attitude in the worst of teams. Wow, and content with field goals????

I doubt Luck would come here. This stuff predates The Mannings. Just think Jim Kelly went to the Nfls so that he wouldn't play for Buffalo and in the end I believe that's where he ended up. Luck may stay in college for another year just so the fins don't pick him up. We'd need one hell of a coach to bring him out. I'm not a suck for luck fan, I just hope we don't suck so much that he doesn't want to come here.

Whenever Sanchez looks good it's because the defense dressed him up, not because he has skill

WE DIDN'T LET TUNA FINISH HIS JOB ,SO YOU CAN'T BLAME HIM FOR THE THE GARAGE MANGER AND SPARANO MOVES.

HE WOULDN'T ALLOW TONY SAPARANP JR TO BE HIRED AS QUILTY COACH CRAP AND JASON TAYLOR SIGNING BACK WITH FINS AND THE R.BUSH DISASTER MOVE AND HE WOULD RELEASE FASANO,MARSHALL AND DANSBY BY NOW ..........

BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE .

MOORE LOOKED SAME AS THIGPEN LAST YEAR .

the old saying Nice guys finish last I guess its true here if Sparano is a nice guy,But like I posted so many times this is Sparanos revenge on Ross why else would you hire an OC who ws worse than you had, hire your kid to get apiece of the pie and get a 2yr extention nice job Tony.

Joe Schmoe

Your game prediction didn't quite work out. As bad as we looked, maybe the worst I've ever seen this team, I still think we will beat Denver. Tebow will never complete more than 25% of his passes. I don't see them winning with him.

On a positive note...Jon Gruden signed a 5 year deal to stay on MNF.
This puts Cowher in the lead to take over on Jan 5th.

Don't you think the time is very right now to begin today to trade whatever we can for draft picks? Can we get a third round pick for Brandon? Can we get a third round for Dansby? Let's acquire as many picks as we can today..

I like Jeff Fisher; he always builds competetive teams.

Why did they just give up at the half and walk off the field? This represents everything wrong about this team - they have given up.

and when you are 3rd and inches, why throw it? WHY? Every stink'n time! I just don't get this team.

Please nobody go to games so Ross gets the hint...I dont think he has a clue, just like our head coach and GM

99% OF BLOGGERS HERE ARE UNEMPLOYED ,SO NO NEED TO URGE THEM TO NOT GO TO GAMES .

CAN JASON TAYLOR BREAK HIS RECORD OF 1-15 THIS YEAR ?

its hard to call yourself a "Fan" of this organization.
I failed to use the term "Team" because this is the complete opposite of what a team should look like.

losers

the best chance of getting luck is we keep sparano as HC for the REST of year. 4th and inches on their 40 and he punts? keep him as HC and we'll have a chance at Luck

I'll be burning all my Dolphins merchandise.

fatcells bloooooooooooows

I am looking forward to seeing QB Nick Foles play Thursday night for Arizona. I am on the Luck Sweepstakes bandwagon but have a feeling Miaimi doesn't have it in them to lose every game. The fins are well on their way but here comes Denver into town.

The 3 things the Fins have going for them to go 0 and 6 are:

1: Tebow will have more fans in the stands than Miami.

2: Miami coming off a hard loss and short week. The Fins sure looked beat down at the end of the Jets game.

3: we're playing at home.

I have to say, IMO this team has more talent than when Cam and the Ginn family were with Miami but seems worse off for some reason.

0-16

The last time Miami won a Super Bowl:
Richard Nixon was President
South Vietnam still existed
The Godfather Part II had still not been released
Michael Jackson was a 15-yr.-old black kid
Israel had just won the Yom Kippur War
Dan Marino was in grade-school

Gee, what a "historic" franchise.

DA, it was looking good for awhile there! LOL

I mean, Miami dominated the first half. Score should have been 21-7 at halftime. Instead, they were losing 14-6.

I don't know why Ross won't make the change at HC. Something has to give. Not even attempting to do anything at the end of the 1st half is INEXCUSABLE. There was plenty of time left on the clock.

Missing Clay in the end zone was rough but I thought Moore had a decent game. he got drilled on the 2nd int. He was locked into Marshall all night. The 1st int should have been a penalty.

Davonne Bess is an afterthought on this team now. If any WR has value & should be traded, it's Bess.

Hartline's drop on 2nd & 17 which would have been a 1st down. Clay's drop on the sideline pass. Marshalls drop in the end zone, although that pass was difficutl, you have to make that.

Same things every week. This defense line that they invested so heavily in can't even sniff the passer. it's awful.

I think the Colts are gonna have stiff competition all year for Luck. I can see 1 win against Denver, that's about it.

Worth repeating.

Joe

I think Marshall is too much of a distraction, in the same way TO was. He gets under the QB's skin and forces them to keep looking for him, and then the other receivers never develop.

How does Sparano find new ways to coach each game worse than the previous one? I think Ross just doesn't see any worthwhile options for replacing him mid-season, and he can say he gave him a fair shot.

Dear Mr. Salguero

Will Mr. Ross being handing out condoms and the pill when we play Denver....cause you know where gonna get ph uc ked

Soiled :)

Thank god for Hockey season!

If the Herald had any clue they'd fire your dumbass, Mando. No wonder Miami has been in the cellar for decades, now. With "reporters" like you always giving the team a pass, who needs Jets fans?

If I wasn't looking forward to an 0 and 16 season and a chance to get Andrew Luck last nights game would have hurt. 1 more real bad season for 10 to 12 good ones, I'll take it!!! and hope there is better planning for the future once we land our franchise QB.

NFL quote of the year:

"I'm baffled. I have no answers.", Tony Sparano, October 2011.

when we didnt go for it on 4th and inches on that early possession... man that was really, really bad decision

i mean, what do you have to lose at 0-4 dude

and i dont blame marshall for that drop in the end zone... granted he's a rcvr and you could say he shouldve caught it, but it was a frickin bullet from 3 yards away that was behind him... and matt moore was locking on his rcvrs all night... he's clearly not the answer

i've been a phins fan for decades and i cant remember this team playing a worse game

mr owner... this is really bad (are you listening?)

I LOVE WHEN ARMANDO SAYS ,(( A TEAM SOURCE TOLD ME SO AND SO )) AND ALL OF IT JUST GUESS GAME ,WHO'S THAT SOURCE WHO KNOWS WHEN ROSS WILL FIRE TONY ?

(( BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE ))

Mike Sims-Walker got released by the Rams. Do you think he'd like to come to Miami? haha I bet the Pats get him.

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLright Miami

Not much to say after this one.....pretty much what I expected.

Would love to hear from the Marshall defenders after this one. Had too many drops, didn't go after the balls in the air and couldn't even stay in bounds on a sure TD catch. Tell me again how it's been Henne's fault that he hasn't made the ctaches? Oh yeah Henne didn't play. I'm sure there were people on here tonight that blamed this one on Henne.

I won a Dolphins jacket in the bar tonight. Girl asked me if I wanted the Dolphins one or Jets one. I was AWFULLY tempted to take the Jets one and I HATE the Jets. Our team stinks....no question. Don't really care what happens the rest of the way....just get me to April and the draft

Posted by: Craig M | October 17, 2011 at 11:46 PM

^^^From the other blog. Take your Henne love affair private!!!!!

Can someone PLEASE get this WOMAN OFF THIS BLOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! I still can't understand how people whose viewpoint I respect (Joe/DA) are STILL predicting a win from this team, lol. What exactly are you guys watching?

I hear the same old excuses:
- "If this guy didn't drop that pass..."
- "If the QB would have seen that wide open guy.."

I'm just wondering, when do you stop seeing these as excuses and start understanding that's the quality of THIS team? No, they won't make the play in the end zone. No, they won't make the defensive stop. No, they won't throw it out-of-bounds in the red zone when the QB is flushed from the pocket.

It's not shoulda, coulda, it's HOW THIS TEAM PLAYS!!!

They are not just not good. They are not just dysfunctional. They are on the express train to the worst record in the league. Don't you get the same feeling as watching the '07 team? I do. Don't you get the same feeling as watching the Lions that 0-16 year? I do.

There are 3 games on the schedule we COULD possibly win: Denver, KC and the Raiders (with no Jason Campbell). WILL WE win those games? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Why, because we're not good enough to win a game in the NFL. We couldn't win a game with a serviceable starting QB, what makes anyone think Matt Moore can win a game? LOL.

Personally, I'm gonna sit back and enjoy the ride. As bad as it will get this year, everything will be instantly better end of season without Sparano, without Ireland, and with the first (or second, or third) pick in the Draft. Then we'll be back in rebuild mode, back with new hope. So it's like taking medicine. We can do it, we've done it before. As long as we stop giving any part of this team credit they do not deserve.

Dolphins sucked and deserved to lose no doubt about it.....

but it was frusterating watching stupid Revis not get called for clear pass interference all night (including the 100 yard TD reception) and then Vonte get called for pass interference on the very next drive for LESS contact. Sheesh

Also,
I agree with Gruden that was a CATCH by Marshall when both him and the defender hit the ground at the same time! There was no conclusive evidence to turn that challenge around! Refs had Jets jerseys on.

Ok, needed to vent about a few things. Don't get me wrong, i know we suck, but we don't need help from the refs to help us suck

I like to personally apolgize to you bloggers for picking the Dolphins to win in a blowout. What was I thinking? I'm not sure myself.

From now on I will be picking the Dolphins to lose the rest of their games.

As far as this team ...

Sigh.......... Where to start?

same quote as HOME put up last year

The Dolphins Suck

PERIOD

same qoute as HOME put up last year

The Dolphins Suck

PERIOD

And that brings me to Mando ridiculously STUPID post yesterday about Sparano being a "good guy." Forget sap Mando, that was just plain idiotic there. Why's Sparano any different than Ricky Williams (who has a family), Joey Porter (who has a family), or Brandon Marshall (who has a family), by the way? Why aren't they ALL good people?

Mando, you act as if Sparano didn't bring this on himself. Was he not the HC here last 4 years? Did Parcells force him to keep Henning 3 years longer than he should have? Or to keep this failed run-first strategy? Or not to push to get a QB in here to compete for the starting position? Doesn't Sparano lead the team during game time? Making decisions about when to go for it on 4th, or taking TO's, or who to play and who to sit?

You made it sound like Sparano is a bystander in this whole fiasco. This didn't just happen this year. This train wreck was developing for years. You say this is still the same Sparano as '08, I say this is the same Sparano that hasn't had a winning record since.

EFFE Sparano. Who cares about his family? You think he cares about mine? I'm supposed to care about a millionaire? Getting fired due to incompetence? WHY? Happens all the time, that's the way business is done. Is it different because it's a Coach and not a player? That's you showing your bias and prejudice Mando, and I find it distasteful and disgusting in all honesty.

Sparano DOES deserve to be fired. And not in any respectful way either. Along with Ireland, and frankly every Coach and player on this team. I'll shed a tear for not a single person who gets fired from this franchise (and I use that term loosely). They are simply failures. And in this business, that's what happens to failures.

I say good riddance. It wasn't particularly enjoyable (thanks for 1 Season), it won't be particularly memorable. This time, this decade, will be the Lost Years of the Miami Dolphins football team. People will remember Marino before, and hopefully Andrew Luck after, but NO ONE will remember Sparano or this team, unless it's a memory of one of the worst teams in the history of sports.

I am with DC on the 0 and 16 train and looking forward to April and new FO and HC. A few of the draft guru's are now putting Miami as the front runner for the top pick in the draft. Adam Schefter even has Miami as the front runner. So NOW I have a little hope.

Gruden is out for HC so now it is Cowher and Fisher as the leading candidates for the HC position.
