Vontae Davis misses practice again

Cornerback Vontae Davis is having a hard time staying healthy this season.

He was on the side and not practicing during the open media session today, strongly suggesting he would miss the second consecutive day of practice this week -- the only Miami player in that situation.

Davis has a hamstring injury.Still.

He's had it since the second week of the season, which was Sept. 18. He missed games versus Cleveland and San Diego but was back in action the past couple of weeks against the New York Jets and Denver. He was fine against the Jets because he missed three weeks (two games plus a bye week).

But last week he played despite being back on the injury report and missing practice time after tweaking the hamstring again.

His status is uncertain for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

The rest of the Dolphins were back at practice. if even on a limited basis.

Marc Colombo (knee), Richie Incognito (ankle) and Daniel Thomas (hamstring) returned to practice at the minimum on a limited basis.

If Davis is unable to play, the Dolphins can use Nolan Carroll, Will Allen or Jimmy Wilson in his place. Carroll, however, is also nursing a hamstring injury despite not missing practice either of the past two days.

The irony of the troubles Davis is having so far is that Miami is playing the Giants, a team that wound up with a wide receiver Miami might have picked had it elected to instead of Davis. In 2009, the Dolphins needed help in both areas and elected to go with the player they considered the second-best corner in the draft ahead of receiver Hakeem Nicks.

"I’m not going to get into where we were with the rankings or any of those things but we thought of a lot of (Hakeem) Nicks," coach Tony Sparano said. "Obviously we thought a lot of Vontae (Davis). We went down, worked (Hakeem Nicks) out down there on their campus. There was a whole posse of them, I think four or five guys. They came out with, I believe three receivers. I think (Hakeem) Nicks came out with (Brandon) Tate and actually Brooks Foster who was here for a little while. The three of those guys came out and they had a tight end at the time. We spent some time down there. We obviously liked him and that’s what I’ll tell you."

Nicks this year has 32 receptions for 508 yards with three TDs. He's averaging 15.9 yards per catch. Last year Nicks had 79 catches for 1,052 yards and 11 TDs.

He also has suffered some injury issues as he missed three games in 2010.

NYG, LOL, saw those Videos on everything and anything, They never get old.......

Cuban sounds like you're drinking something heavier than beer, the Dolphins have been 0-6 since Sunday,,,,,,,,just sayin' :)

Cuban Menace,

They make me laugh and give us something to smile about with these Dolphins.

Phins78, My Bad, Your right I am drinking and was going from Memory, Forgot the Loss to the Texans.... I Stand corrected..

agreed but if some way they could salvage him he does have the athleticism and potential to do good work. He is still young

That's a very nice anatomical and functional description of what is referred to as hamstring. Now, the Pathology.

I had a friend once, that freaked out, and he would listen to the Grateful Dead all day long, only coming out when his mother called him to eat a biste'.

Charles Nelson Reilly (January 13, 1931 – May 25, 2007) was an American actor, comedian, director and drama teacher known for his comedic roles in theater, movies, children's television, animated cartoons, and as a panelist on the game show Match Game.

I love Charles Nelson Reilly. One of the best.

As I sit here and watch the Canes play Virginia it is uncanny how similar the Dolphins and Canes are in the way they play. Both teams suck and Jacory Harris SHOULD NOT be playing quarterback. When you compare the talent on the Canes now to teams of the past it is like night and day. They have NOBODY.

Exactly what I was just talking about. Jacory Harris just faked himself out. Lost the ball and had no idea where it was and Virginia recovers. Way to go, doooshbag!

They are debating about the giant Casinos about to be build here. Some say, it will affect the horses and the dogs(and the lottery). Nonsense, they don't know the demographics here.

If you're watching the Virginia/Miami game keep an eye on Virginia's left tackle, Aboushi. He's only a Soph. and he's huge. A top ten tackle in 2013 draft projected late first, early 2nd. For future reference, if you get into that kind of stuff. I do.

I could only get to 3 horseraces at Calder today(I came home late). One of them won, the others lost. =.

If Harris had been released by the Cowboys he would be #1 on our depth chart right now.

Of course, it will never be the same as smelling all that horsesh-t there.

Ben Roethlisberger is not my son!

Are the Canes winning, Judy?

...Jacory Harris is probably at the top of the draft board.

The Dolphins are the only team where unemployed players get signed and moved immediately into starting roles: Columbo, Olshansky, McQuistan (last year), Harris?

(By the way I found out McQuistan got re-instated at Radio Shack).

That throw by the hb on Virginia was amazing

Canes 0 Virginia 17

Cam Jordan, DE, Virginia, SR - another prospect to keep an eye on. Full out motor. Right now he's playing with a torn pectoral muscle and he's still giving the offensive line a tough time. That's a football player, something our Fins sorely lack.

Ugh, what else can befall us?

Nice catch, but Harris made it difficult with the sucky throw

What kind of Pelican?

Look at the Gold Chick! What's up with that?

(( BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE )),MY FOOT

What Chick?

If you were a computer and McQuistan were an anti-virus program you'd be screwed.

What Chick?

When the Canes scored they cut to the crowd and there was a blonde chick with gold glitter paint all over her whole body. Only in Miami.
If Mike Dee sees her he will probably hire her for pre-game entertainment.

judy,,,,,,,,,,,, do reporters SHOULD HAVE ANY DIGNITY ?

Over her whole naked body?(nah, that's too much to ask) Unfortunately, Comcast decided to give me trouble tonight.

Which foot, right or left?

If Bill Cowher is "The Jaw", is Lou Holtz "The Tongue?"

Lou Holtz talks like his dentist never sucked the spit out of his mouth and it's now stuck there.
I know, it's mean. It's a speech impediment. But, you know, I am able to overcome my fu(kin turrets mother fu(ker when I fu(k face type.

Some, have a middle foot. They are called Tripods.

Some have it on their face....like Ben Roethlisberger.

You's getting mad because UM is losing. Yes?

"No, coach, you don't undastand. I wus cuttin da string of da ham at Tanksgivin and the ham fell off da table and I bent ova and pulled a muscle in da back of mah leg"

Look at that tackling. It's a thing of beauty....if you're a Cavalier's fan.

Judy Blue Eyes is my favorite song from Crosby, Stills , Nash, and Young. They performed for the first time in front of my friend Andy, yes, there, at Woodstock.

I'm gonna kill dat mudda fuggin ham.

HoHo!

Hey! I ain't gots da vd!

Thank God he's no relation. You know what I mean, babe.

Ha!

My friend Andy died of liver failure due to Hepatitis C. Of course, he tried many things, including many women.

(From PFT)

Bush said “We stink” after the Dolphins’ 18-15 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.

That didn’t sit well with Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell, who turned the tables on Bush.

“He stinks,” Bell said.

Boy, do I have stories to tell!

Did he die young?

60

60

Wow. I bet he had some fun, though. Just a sidenote (from Paul Blart): If you were born 3 years ago your expected to live to 130 years of age.

Armando is being extremely gentle in letting me write all this stuff that apparently has nothing to do with Football. Thankyou, Bro. But I'm afraid, it will not last. Sure.

If we signed Harris he would not only be our best DB, he'd be like the 3rd best player on the team right up there with Bush and Olshansky.

Why is this big news? when your part of the best cornerback tandem in the league you shouldn't have to explain your injuries.
Now to the fun stuff let Bush and Bell go at it
I agree with Bush this team does stink but he is also part of the stench. I can't understand Ross keeping Sparano around just fire him now
he knows it's coming and pay him the rest of his contract he is resigning and leaving all that money on the table.

WTH are we going to do if we live to be 130 years old now(especially after 60)? Suck our di-ks, if we can manage it.

Let's all be clear.
Sparano has made $millions as HC these past 3+ seasons. He invested most of it.
He gets like a $4million bonus when he gets fired.
He can spend the next 50 years on the golf course and on his yacht.
This is not some big tragedy.
