Fins escort Bills to woodshed, administer whipping

This was a complete victory as the 35-8 score suggests.

The defense extended its streak of quarters without allowing a touchdown to 12. The offense rolled up four TDs in the first half to make this a walk before the second half was played. Matt Moore threw three touchdown passes and had a 133.3 rating.

And the special teams got a blocked punt and touchdown when Lex Hilliard recoverd a block in the end zone.

Complete.

Total.

Stampede of Buffalo.

The Dolphins have won three consecutive game. They are 3-7. They travel to Dallas to play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

If your TEAM SCORES MORE, WILL WIN BLAH BLAH BLAH, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.

I was saying yesterday, lets put our preconceptions aside about Moore and judge him on performance. You can argue it has been against inferior teams, fair enough, but lets first see how he does against the better teams now that he has more than a measly few weeks of experience with the team.

These stats are from Peter King. Over the last 3 weeks, Moore is in the top 3. Good company I'd say.

Pct. Yards TDs INTs Passer Rating
Aaron Rodgers, GB 74.4 796 11 1 135.9
Matt Moore, Miami 70.8 613 6 1 118.6
Tom Brady, New England 63.4 869 7 2 95.6

Mark, glad you said that at 2:44. I was going to mention it would be nice to have your QB upright long enough to get the pass off.

Otherwise, I agree completely.

And the proof is in the pudding. When SOMEONE (Sparano/Daboll) FINALLY realized the TE was a receiving position in today's NFL (not a linemen), then we started winning.

Now Fasano/Clay are IN THE GAME PLAN, and just like the rest of the league, TEs create matchup problems and are hard to account for.

Only took 4 years. What do you guys think this FO can tackle in the NEXT four years (maybe realizing that the CBs can intercept passes)?

San Fran, 9 and 1, Last year at this time I think they were 2 and 8., With the same players more or less, If you dont think coaching is the difference..., Well just look.

You guys ever hear in those time travel movies that the same matter can't occupy the same space at the same time (Van Damme was in a movie about this called Time cop)?

This mean that when we play the Cowboys and the first tackle happens the two players will implode?

Moore's been great over 3 games (though interestingly enough, not a huge amount of yards).

Question is, like Brady/Rodgers, can he be consistently that good for an entire Season? Or the REST of his career?

Seem to recall Moore played very well year before last also...to the point Peter King wrote he was an up and coming QB...Moore promptly sucked last year. There should be no faith in him as the future QB and by the way he has lost more games this year than Henne. No way of predicting if Henne would have lost the games Moore lost. Moore hasn't suffered the drops Henne suffered while he was playing. Either way, neither QB is the answer for this team...The position has to be the priority in upgrading. Also, I hope the 'Phins don't rally enough for Sporano and Ireland to keep their jobs...they got to go too

Matt Moore Better Than Aaron Rodger? For One Day He Was:

Aaron Rodgers

23-34(67.6%) 299yds 3 td's 1 int

= 112.3 QBR

Matt Moore

14-20(70%) 160yds 3 td's 0 ints

= 133.3 QBR

Before we get carried away, a 112.3 QBR was actually a bad day for Rodgers Sunday. Still it was something average to mediocre qb's wish for.

DC, Give me a QB with pedistrian yardage and a win and I'll take it over a guy that has 450 yards 3 TDs and a loss any day.

Sorry, It sounds like Jay Fiedler all over again. Strike my last post.SORRY.

FP, me too. I just think it's strange, we just didn't win the last 3 games. We put up 30+ points in 2 of them. And our running has been ok, but not like 200 yards each game. So just amazing how it's happened that we put up points but haven't passed/run for mega yards.

When things are going well, EVERYTHING works. When they're bad, NOTHING does. Crazy how that happens.

FP, I was thinking Alex Smith. But I'd like to be 9-1 right now.

Yes captain, and thank you for your support. My point being we can talk about the line(s), rb, te and on and on but for the most part it always comes back to the QB in this day and age.

The only thing Moore has proven do far is that the team should be comfortable with him on the roster next year and should be a good transition qb. We should still be doing anything possible to get one of the 4top qbs in the draft.

Mando's article hot it bang on. Nobody should be considering Moore as the franchise qb until at least the end of next year. If he's still doing it, pay him what he deserves then and subsequently move the young qb you draft or Moore himself. You can go into next year without a contingency plan. Its killed this franchise for a generation. Having a pedestrian vet and hoping he can be the one.

Gotta feeling that the Lions Beat Green Bay Thursday, Will help the tukey o go down easy, Also think the Dol[phins beat the BOYS too(Which will make the left-overs) go down good too.

The reason we've put up big points in the last few weeks without big passing yards or run yards is simple, turnover ratio. The most important stat in football -team the great equalizer.

My wife says to me yesterday "Where have these Dolphins been these last two month?" I agreed with her....Great they are winning..but coaching is the key..What did I say? COACHING COACHING COACHING...this TEAM of ours should be no worse than 5-5 and in the thick of things for a final WILD CARD SPOT, but THEY ARE NOT> Again it is COACHING....I think the LOCKOUT killed this team more than the others...DC DOLFAN....HEAR ME....What did you think when the Skins who had no business going into yesterdays' game thinking of winning...then coming out of the game thinking they had no business LOSING....? football is great, huh?
ARE any of U Fins Fans nervous about the Packers coming close to or breaking our perfect record?? U know what would be nice? GB losing and FINS squeaking out a WIN in BIG D?
Miami is 5-2 IN DALLAS all time and 3-1 on Turkey Day, u all knew that, right?? They pose a problem with that pass rush, although TS should know a trick or two and roll up his sleeves since he was on the Dallas staff from 03-07.. We need to get CHARLES CLAY more involved..HE is a PLAYMAKER!!! Still holding out hope for a top 10 pick and thus a top QB for our FUTURE. TS still gone after this year, IMO.. LATER FINS FANS

FINS FAN IN MD

With a 28-6 halftime lead, the coaching staff put the handcuffs on Matt Moore in the 2nd half. The 2nd half formula was to continue to play great defense and work the clock.

Its well known at times Matt Moore has the potential to make the very boneheaded play. So having the big halftime lead the strategy was to play it safe.

Green Bay doesnt put up big rushing numbers either, but similar to us, they run just efficiently enough to get the job done.

Mark in Toronto,

I think we could have this conversation all day and never come to an agreement. I think we're kind of saying the same thing but I think you value passing a bit more than me and I value the centre position and running game more than you. I don't we're as diametically opposed on this as you might think, but we do have differences on it. I don't agree with all those that think WR win games for you. Yes, you have to have them but it didn't help Dallas last year with Bryant, didn't help the Titans last year with Britt, or the Bengals last year with TO or Ocho. So to me the WR position is over-rated. Yes, you have to have them but there are other areas of prime importance. Is Atlanta that much better this year at 6-4 after trading up for Julio Jones? Definitely not.

So, I'll echo what DA has said. While we all agree you have to be able to pass and pass effectively, you have to at least have the threat of a run game. The Saints got wiped out last year by the Seahawks, partly because of an inability to run the ball. The Jets are exposed as a weak passing team this year because they can't run as effectively as past years. And Baltimore has struggled at times when they have Rice running the ball for 5-6 times a game.

In summary, there was nothing wrong with taking Thomas in the second round. Dolphins didn't have a single game last year with a 100 yard rusher. They've already had several this year.

Mark T,

Yesterday I posted what we learned from Matt Moore so far is that Chad Henne he should have his bags packed and U-Haul loaded.

yea the 3 game win streak has pretty much sealed the fate of Chad Henne......if it wasn't sealed already

The Packers just won the Super Bowl with no threat of a running game and are poised to do it again.

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.

CraigM,

In today's NFL is paramount that you're able to pass the ball. You're not going to line them up and effectively run for 150-200yds a game on nobody without a legit threat of passing the ball.

Even the 72 Dolphins had the legit threat of blowing your secondary doors down with the threat of Paul Warfield. Being one dimensional doesnt work no matter what era of football you're in. One dimensional doesnt win championships.

See the Marino era Dolphins(Passing)

See the OJ Simpson era Bills(Running)

Fins have looked good the last month, to bad they play in the AFC., I think no team wants to play this team right now., DallaS played in OT sunday, mean while Miami rested there 1st string most of the 2nd half, Which team will be sharper?

Let's keep whats said here in perspective. Nobody is saying well lets make Moore the franchise QB for the next 5+ years and forget about drafting a QB. Sure, we need to draft a QB top priority. But who can really say if that QB will beat out Moore next year? Nobody.

Moore may fall apart the next several games and not even be considered to start again. On the other hand, one has to think...IF Moore had 3 years exp with this team like Henne, he'd be even better now. I'm simply saying it appears Moore still has some upside. How much? Let's let the final games tell us instead of just writing him off because expectations were low to begin with.

Chris623,

Packers, no threat of a running game? That simply isnt true.

The Packers dont use a running game to bowl you over. They establish big leads with Rodgers and then salt the win away with the ground game in 4th qtr. You havent been paying attention.

Like I said they dont bowl you over with the run game but they run effectively enough late in the 4th qtr to milk the clock and salt away double digit leads. You dont have to be a great run team, but you do need to be efficient enough to milk the clock and secure a victory.

That's exactly what GB does. Next time you watch GB watch the entire game. I know its hard because usually Rodgers has it in the bag by end of 3rd qtr. Just watch how they usually close those games the last 8- 6 minutes. Its by effectively running the ball.

YG,

Don't twist my words. I haven't said anything about being one dimensional. If you'd taken the time ACTUALLY read and COMPREHEND (something that you're pretty good at telling others to do), you'd know what Mark and I are talking about. I'm in favour of an attacking passing attack, but where Mark and I differ is this idea that guys like Dez Bryant are the difference makers that win championships and he doesn't think guys like Pouncey and Thomas have as much impact. While I agree with him, to an extent, I also think you have to be able to do some of those other things as well.

Anyways, I think the win streak ends in Dallas on Thursday. The team has playing well and Dallas isn't that great but I have a feeling the time will resort back to finding a way to beat themselves. It's been a nice run and shows there's some life in the team but it doesn't change the fact that changes need to be made, including the head coach and the drafting of a young QB.

Last note, I think you'll all agree, Moore made some throws, like that one to Bush that Henne would never make. Moore has more touch. His accuracy is still shaky, but so is Hennes. Moore seems to get into the flow of the game much better than Henne who seems always detatched. At a minimum, Moore seems to be a solid back up, and I'd much rather see Moore coming off the bench in a playoff game than Henne.

FLIPPERR GREG, ARE YUO IN COMPETION WITH DYING BREED ON FLIP-FLOPING?, ARE YOU POLITICIAN?
(NUGGET OF KNOWLEDGE)

Devils Advocate,

Not only am I in favor of drafting a qb 1st rd. I want to draft one with mvp calibre. I think there are two, Luck and RGII.

We're not getting Luck, but I sure would like us to do whatever it takes to get RGIII. Neither of these two do I see being nfl flops.

As for Matt Moore, if he goes into a serious tailspin, Chad Henne can unpack his bags and unload his U-haul, we'll be resigning him over the offseason as backup or stop gate. Same goes for Matt Moore.

GREG JOINS THE INFAMOUS GANG OF DEFEAT FLIPPER BRED,CUBEN MENACE,DC,ODEN, GUYS,STICK WITH A TEAM LIKE THE HAMALTOM CAT TIGERS AND STECK WITH THEM.

ALoco,

Who's Flipper Greg?

CraigM,

You both are right. IMO, all of those pieces are equally important. They all rely on the other to have consistent success.

What pieces a team adds sometimes relies heavily upon where they are in thier building process. Still a team needs to add "ALL" of the critical pieces to have consistent success.

Its just so difficult to be able to add them all at the same time.

All I can say is that it was a damned fine day yesterday sitting on my couch, beer in hand, hot wings in front of me, watching the Phins win big.

A fine day indeed!

WHEN ALOCO SEES GOOD DISCUSSION GOING ON AND FINDS HE'S NOT CEREBRAL ENOUGH TO INTELLIGENTLY CONTRIBUTE. THEN HE ALWAYS RESORT TO HIS INFANTILE WAYS.

HAVENT YOU GUYS LEARNED THAT BY NOW? LOL

GREG, YOU FLIP-FLOP LIKE DYING BRED, TAKE A STANCE AND STAY WITH IT.

Well that is stating the obvious my friend. Who doesn't want to draft a first round QB with MVP caliber?

wolfman1313,

Winning just seems to have the magical effect of making beer and hot wings taste so much better!

YESTERDAY GONE, BUY A CLUE, YOU TOO ALWAYS WANT DOLPINS TO LOSE, YOU ARE POSTER CHILD FOR GANG OF DEFEET.

ALoco, is there a reason you can't get my name right? It's C R A I G. Try it....it's not that hard! It's ALWAYS been Craig. Never been Greg. Do you not have thos letters on your keyboard or are you just ignorant?

Craig, I didn't say there isn't room in the NFL for a good centre or a good running back, you just have to consider that in a cap sport, you have to allocate your dollars effectively. Which players and which positions have the most value? This is where to spend the money. I can see where you come from on the receiver issue but I do think a very good receiver is worth more than a very good running back. There are maybe one or two backs in the league that are worth a 1st pick. Maybe one or two 34 defensive ends too. But I'm hoping odrick becomes one of them. Pouncey, I'd like to think so but I just don't know.....

LOL At Gone, How true, Never had a bad Chicken wing when the fins won.

ALOCO,

IM ALL PACKED AND WILL BE MOVING INTO YOUR MOMMY'S BASEMENT WITH YOU BRIGHT AND EARLY TOMORROW MORNING.

YOUR MOTHER SAID ITS OK.

How many times do we sack Romo? Let there be peewee dancing on Turkey Day !

it....it's not that hard! It's ALWAYS been Craig. Never been Greg. Do you not have thos letters on your keyboard or are you just ignorant?

DO YOU MEAN "THOSE"? TRY NOT TO THROW STONES WHEN YOU LIFE IN A GLASS HOUSE.

(BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE)

The peewee dance made me slightly uncomfortable........but if he does it everygame he can do whatever he wants as long as he's getting sacks

Mark,

I'm not in favour of drafting a running back in the first round either. I'm one of the ones that was on the Ingram bandwagon at 15 at one point in time too but I see now that it would have been a waste. A running backs peak years are short and the same can easily be achieved by a lower round pick (or even an undrafted guy), as we see around the league today. In a year when both Brown and Williams needed to be replaced I think what Ireland did made some sense. Yes, people could argue that the same could have been achieved with Murray but I think we needed a banger like Thomas from somewhere.

Ingrams been injury prone all year, What does he have 400 yds. 3 TDs so far this year?, Thomas has done better IMHO.

Ohio D,

I dont care if Odrick pulls his pants down and moon's the crowd, as long as he keeps getting those sacks. If it continues to happen he forces oc's to try and compensate to stop him.

Tha means creating easier sacks for someone else, theyre already compensating to stop Wake. We greatly need amnother pass rusher to step up with the ability to create avoc too.

If oc's have to now compensate for both Wake and Odrick. Biltzers will have free passes to the qb. You cant pick up everybody when you're already over-compensating for both Odrick and Wake.

But seriously ALoco....what's the problem? Are you trying to be funny when you do that? I don't see you butchering anyone else's name and yet you continually butcher mine? What's the deal?....I'm curious? Looks like everyone here makes every effort to get your name right.....might be nice if you tried the same.

My momma would be awfully upset at you for butchering the name she chose and put on my birth certificate....LOL.

I hope Odrick manages to do the Pee Wee Herman dance on the big blue star all day long on Thursday!!.....

CraigM,

I too now see the importance of taking Pouncey. I think the biggest difference in pass protection right now is pressure rarely comes thru the middle. Therefore the pocket isnt being shut down right in our qb's face. the qb has to be able to step up into his throw.

Its usually now comes from the right side where Columbo calls home. Most importantly it isnt leaking all over the place. Plus D Thomas and Reggie Bush are becoming much better at picking up the blitzers.

CRAIG, NO OFFENCE TO YOUR MOM,GO DOLPINS

BUFFET OF ACORNS)

Gotta have a competent center in both the run and pass game. It also makes your guard game better, unless your guards are just total crap.

Pouncey has definitely solidified the middle of the oline and seems to continually be getting better.

Craig, No Offence but if Ordick gets a sack and gets a flag for unsportsman like conduct.. Well you see where Iam going wih this, If he does his idiot dance in Dallas, I am sure there gonna get a 15 yard penelity.Go Phins.

Cant wait until Thursday to play the Dallas Turkeys(oops, I mean Cowboys)!

Craig, agreed on the back, I just wouldn't have spent a 2nd and I surely would not have traded up.

Personally I like the pee wee dance.
