Looking ahead to the Bills who may or may not stink

The Buffalo Bills, the next opponent for the Dolphins, have hit an interesting point in their season.

After starting out an inspired 4-1 and leading the AFC East, the Bills have, shall we say, hit a rough patch of late. No, check that. If "of late" is defined as yesterday, the Bill have stunk. They lost 44-7 to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

It was their third loss in four weeks. It was their third loss in four road games.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three interceptions including one that was returned for a TD. Running back Fred Jackson also had a fumble that turned the ball over. The 37-point loss was the worst of the season, surpassing a 16-point loss only one week earlier.

So the Bills are not just going badly but getting worse.

That, of course, only matters if you adhere to the facts.

"Listen, I think Buffalo has been playing really well," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said moments ago. "I don't think because of what happened yesterday, you can look at any of that. The bottom line is just looking at the game, I haven't watched it yet, but it appears to me that turnovers had an awful lot to do with it.

"It seemed like they had three or four turnovers in the game."

Yes, the Bills had four turnovers. That is playing poorly in my estimation. That is not playing really well.

Anyway, the Bills are beat up, having lost key contributors at WR, OLB and DL in recent weeks. The Dolphins are 2 1/2 point faves.

The Dolphins, winners of two straight, are also playing well -- except that the facts actually back up that stance.

As a fan I always think with my heart, so I want to finish 9 - 7, make the plays offs and in the first round next year pick the best player available, and if that player is a LB who can cover a today's speed TE, better. If coach Sparano can not change his conservative approach at home, ok, then find another HC but I like the work of the offensive and defensive coordinators.

May be for the Colts I will think with my head.

yesterday's gone,

Time will paint the picture for Manning and the Luck situation for starters;

1. Will Manning heal and be cleared to play football again or will his carrier be over with that neck injury. Unknown at this time.

2. If he is cleared the colts potentially may/man not play him this season to see if he will still be competitive or done.

That could back fire on the Colts as if they do play him this season and he returns to the pre-neck injury Manning they know what they have.

If they play him and he has abilities are hindered from the the neck injury, they lose not only a Hall of Fame but also they played their cards marketability wise for a trade.

If that happens they will go for Luck.

3. If they decide to choose Luck and Manning is ok, I believe Luck will ask for a trade as he wants to play now and wont sit on the bench waiting for his moment as he rusts away.

4. The Colts may (as you mentioned) decide to trade away the #1 for multiple picks both this year and the next or two which sounds like the logical choice if Manning is healthy.

How will this all play out for the Fins is unknown as the Fins are making their own destiny. Win or Lose at this juncture = losing draft wise as the more the fins win, the prospects move farther away and/or will be extremely pricey if the fins elect to trade up to get Luck or whoever is left.

Lose, lose situation for the Fins and Fans. I as everyone else want to start by purging the entire staff from HC to GM. Bring in real leadership that understands how to win.

We will never win by playing it safe with fist pumps. I want killer instinct Head Coach with a touch of class, NOT what Belichick did which was punching the team in the mouth when down by 8 TD's.

PASSING ON THE GREAT TO BE ...ANDY DALTON THE CIN BENGALS QB ...........

WE DRAFTED NO IMPACT PLAYER ON THE 1st ROUND and NOT ANDY DALTON ............

ALoco,

I'm going to toot yours and my horn for a second here.

There's only two guys on this blog that I remember advocating the Dolphins pick Andy Dalton. You and Me!

Out of all the QB's in last years draft, you and I talked quite a bit about how good we thought Dalton would be. I don't know about you, but Dalton has surpassed my expectations ALREADY!

We both said if we use a high pick on a QB, it should be "Red" Dalton!

PS: Before anyone calls me on it, I was spouting off Ricky Stanzi's name quite a bit, but only as a later rounder(clip board holder).

PSS: I think Me and ALoco are the GREATEST Linebacke........er........ah.........Arm Chair General Managers to have EVER LIVED!!!!

Luck will be mediocre and all of you constant Luck worshipers will look like fools.

TONIGHT... As the clock winds down to 0 I want to hear the champagne corks pop on ESPN when the Vikings behead the pack.

That is one of four things that i look forward to this season. The other three are the day Ross clears house by firing everyone and the day we get a new HC/GM followed by the best draft ever including drafting a QB in the 1st if possible.

Let's go Sota.

Odin, be preparing our QB for next year(other than Luck).

Bala

IMO only...from what I see in this kid that's highly improbable on him being mediocre. Watching Luck play many games, especially the loss Saturday night, when he drove down the field it made me think of all the great NFL QB's as even though they lost, he looked unbelievable.

There are NEVER any guarantees but IMO...this kid is the closest to that guarantee as can be. He will only get better as time goes by.

I truly don't believe Ross is going to get rid of Ireland. As JJ said the other day, talent evaluator is the most important position on a Team, and Ireland seems to be getting on.

NY "G"

I pray for that day too!

Die you freakin' cheeseheads die!!

One thing is that Ross is either very unstable or a genius.

Ireland's evaluating skills IMO suck. Value and Acorns are not working. It WILL and DOES take time to rebuild a team but when we have a GM that will NEVER pick a top pick QB, such as a first rounder, we will be what we will be and we all can see what the record shows.

But then again, he has contract extensions out for both Tony and Ireland so let's hope Ross makes the right decision for HIS team and the fans.

Empty seats dose not pay the mortgage or millionaires players salaries.

The Pack have bullseyes on their backs.

The Vikes have nothing to lose.

Hopefully, all hell breaks loose and the Chesseheads go down.

Note - if I had to put money down I would choose Green Bay.

Anybody see the vid of Rex Ryan telling a fan to STFU?

NY G, Ihave the same doubts about Ireland as you do but, contrary to TS, whom I want him to go at the end of the Season, Ireland, IMO, and for many reasons, deserves one more year and ONLY one more year.

The hardest thing about watching the game tonight will be waiting for Chris Berman to STFU.

NYG

IMO, people are too hard on Ireland. All GM's miss on picks, He has made his share of mistakes, but had made his share of good picks too. We don't know the reasoning behind not going after a premier TE or QB, ect, but overall I think he has done better than most bloggers give him credit for. Certainly better than the previous 5 regimes who left us with nothing.

Also fans need to be more patient with players. You can't expect everyone to just come out of the draft and be playing like a pro bowler. It takes some time to develop. Odrick has only half a season and his is coming on. Pouncey, Thomas, Clay, Wilson are doing well for rookies...not a bad draft.

I think coaching is far more the problem, not so much Ireland.

The dolphins will win 2 more games and finish at 4 and 12. Ross will have a change of heart and keep sparano and ireland around again and say this is it for real this time you better win next season and they will be right back where they are this season. Go figure.

Bad day for my fantasy football team. I'm coasting in first place at 8-2 and all of a sudden my starting QB Schaub is done for the year and one of my backups Cassel looks like he's done for the year too. I was starting Fitzpatrick this week but I looks like I need to grab another two QBs. Best I can find out there are Dalton and Palmer. All of a sudden it looks like my dream season is out the window.

Tim, is that vid of Ryan on you tube?

Ask us if we care.

Do you care Tron?

Devil,

I've been saying that about Irealnd for a long time now. Everyone raves about Belichick with NE but nobody talks about all his misses, including Tate, Merriweather, the first round RB I can't remember, WR Jackson, Haynesworth, Ocho Cinco and on and on. It's completely unrealistic for a GM to hit on all his draft picks and FA signings. The alternative is to sit on your hands like the Buffalo and Carolina GM do. Pretty hard to be wrong about any of your FA signings when you don't sign anyone.

Good post Devil....you hit the nail right on the head.

Don't answer these people Craig M. They neither know or care about Football and at the end they will seek their own pastures.

Thanks Craig.

I'm not the first to echo those thoughts, but for sure I'm in the minority here. Ireland is really young, he might have the potential to be a great GM for years to come. I'd be ok investing a little more time in him unless they can lock in someone more proven with a track record.

DevilsAdvocate and oscar canosa,

Great points and for now, I'm out as I will need to keep the cork on the champagne bottle until the fat lady sings. Hopefully tonight is that night.

Take care gents and let's go Vikings.

Anybody here friends with the talent evaluator of GB?

Always amazes me what 2 wins does to a bunch of idiots.
Suddenly Sparano is the answer again, suddenly Matt Moore is the QB we've always needed, suddenly the fins are gonna run the table and make the playoffs.

Not sure I can listen to much more crap, we are what we were, not much has changed, we played 2 poor teams. Ross should fire Sparano now but he obviously can't!! He knows he's done come seasons end so he wants to go out winning just enough games to screw the franchise over again for the next HC.

Fortunately he isn't a good enough coach to do this as the teams we have left to play are way better than the last 2 doormats.
Things will balance themselves out, 2 more defeats and a losing season is guaranteed and the team will quit on Sparano.

I do have to say that I am looking forward to the new Dolphins next year

I've never seen a Team loaded with so many great Players and keep on adding more...

The only thing that can beat GB this year is overconfidence. GN

We will prolly win the Buff game and loose the rest...I want Landry

Matt Moore will not survive Demarcus Ware, enter Losman and the rest is history, all we have to do is get past Buffalo without winning which I don't think we can!!!

GB seems unstoppable!

Hate to say it but if someone is gonna go unbeaten I hope its Green Bay.

Unless its us next year of course ;)

Records are meant to be broken and if GB does it it's ok by me... As long that it wasn't the Patriots or the Stinking Jets suck suck!!
Lmao!

Fitzpatrick will torch us Sunday, they play us tough every game if you have watched football at all the last 5 years. Somebody said we will win against Dallas- keep smoking that good stuff. Philly will kill us. Don't worry our draft status will be top 5. For you idiots calling for 9-7, CMON MAN!

odineseye.................. THANK YOU TO INCLUDE MYSELF WITH YOU AS THE GREATEST GM WHO EVER LIVED ,THANK YOU AGAIN.................

NOTICE ,HOW MOST BLOGGERS ON THIS BLOG STILL THINK THE SAME WAY AS TEN YEARS AGO AND NOTICE HOW THEIR BRAINS STILL THINK THE SAME CRAp about this disaster team of ours from every angel ..............

ray....sound like you r a fin fan WHO WISHES EVERY TEAM TO SUCK LIKE US .............

DOES ANY ONE NOTICE ,HOW OUR GARAGE MANGER PASSED ON ANDY DALTON WHO STARTED FOR THE BENGALS WITH 6-3 SO FAR THIS YEAR AND DRAFTED POUNCY AND D.THOMAS THE NO IMPACT PLAYERS And LEFT DALTON ............

THE CELLAR .....................

ALoco go make some mint tea.

What's amazing is how long it took the the O coord. and HC to figure out that Bush is not a power back to be run straight up between the tackles. It was a no-brainer from the beginning. In many early posts, even lowly me (a humble fan) was calling for screens, wheel routes, tosses, end arounds, double screens and a few others. Lo and behold, he scores with two of those against the Skins! I was like "WTF took these morons so long to figure it out?" It's called EGO.

Posted by: ccherald2 | November 14, 2011 at 06:22 PM

A back doesn't have to be a big "pounding back" like Thomas to run him between the tackles. Thomas is a bigger back, so he doesn't hit the hole quite as fast as someone like Bush. Therefore, a bigger back is going to take some hits and also deliver some of his own and will need to break tackles.
You can't necessarily run a smaller back 30 times between the tackles but you can run him there 10-12 times a game. Bush has the quick burst that gets him thru the hole much faster than a bigger back and then he can use his quickness to make linebackers miss at the second level. The Kansas City game proved that. The only problem is the offensive line doesn't block consistently well enough for Bush to get the positive yardage he should be able to get running the ball.
Bush is a great talent and can be used in a number of different ways so it would be a shame to waste the talent by not exploiting it any way you can.

Only team left on Packers schedule with even a prayer of beating the them is the NY Giants.

The Bears dont have enough offense and the Lions are to young and inexperienced. The only thing standing in thier way during the playoffs is again the Giants(Manning), or the Saints(Brees).

Then the only thing stopping an undefeated untied championship season would be the afc's participant in this years SB. If it isnt Pittsburgh forget about it.

Even though they beat Pittsburgh in last year's sb. No other afc team has both the defense to slow Rodgers even a little. Even if Rodgers faced Brady I see Rodgers winning 56-42.

YESTERDAY'S GONE.....................PLEASE MAKE ME SOME HERB TEA,PLEASE AND FAST .

two of the most exciting plays over the weekend. this is why i say, "Football is played on Saturday." You can't find this in the NFL.

There's always a chance after going 14-0 Mike McCarthy shuts his starters down for the playoffs. Then there's chance they could lose a game.

The Packers final 2 games are the Bears then the Lions.

ALoco,

Im fresh out of herb tea. Would warm dingleberry juice do?

I'm sick of people bringing up Weedon. i don't want to draft any 28 year olds who are starring in college. he should eb starring in college. heck, at 28, he should be dominant and in his prime in the NFL.

He's a non factor.

Many of the 'experts' said the same thing about Roger Staubach.

ALoco,

Thats an easy fix. Our garage manager needs to stop hiring day labor bums. Even Vonte Davis was found with the unmistakeble odor of Night Train vintage on baited breath during practice.

After panhandling Marshall for fifty cents, Marshall proceeded to launch a football at his uncombed skull.

ALOCO,

OUR GARAGE MANAGER HIRES ONLY DAY LABOR HELP TO SAVE ROSS MONEY. PLUS OUR GARAGE MANAGER'S BROTHER IN LAW RUNS THE DAY LABOR CAMPS.

OUR GARAGE MANAGER HELPS ROSS SAVE MONEY AND KEEPS HIS BROTHER IN LAW HAPPY SO HE DOESNT BEAT HIS SISTER AT THIER TRAILER PARK MANSION.

ALOCO,

IRELAND'S DAY LABOR HELP DOES NOT WANT TO GET TO THE SUPER BOWL. THEY WANT TO GET BACK TO THE SOUP LINES.

ALOCO,

OUR GARAGE MANAGER WILL HIRE A DAY LABOR CRACKHEAD TO BE OUR FUTURE AT QB NEXT YEAR.

ALoco I am from Boston and I like your style of writing.

I am a liberal democrat like you.

Can we be friends?

ROTFLMAO!

I swear to GOD, I have never ever been subjected to this many men acting like puzzies!

Of course, I grew up around real men, that stand up for their belief and hold cherished treasures close to their hearts.

Mando, you have a blog full of panzies that understands not, the meaning of devotion.

Outside a few legitimate fin fans, this blog is full of queers, wishing their team down the tube. Disgusting!

For every positive post, their are two dozon whinning peice of crap putz that drags the blog down.

Two-thirds of you would rather seen a loss these past two weeks, and another loss next week against the Bills.

Let me correct that equation.

Nine-tenths of you puzzies would jump on the broken down cart and cry when the driver spun an axle in a muddy creek. Wishing grandma would jump from the buckboard, and save your pathetic retarded azzes.

Shed ur diapers sissies! Miami will go three in a row.

GOOOOOOOO MIAMI! GOOOOOOOOOOO!

Is it true Jerry Sandusky and Aloco showered together?

Greetings from Orchard Park~~~~~~~~~Are you guys ready for your yearly arse kicking?

Been away for some time, are DC Dolfan and Krissy still dating each other?

Buffalo Bill, we're hoping you beat us! Please, we want to lose the rest of the season! But the way Buffalo is playing, you guys might lose.....to this terrible team! So, if that happens, where does that put you?

Redsky~~It puts us right back to where we've been for the last 10 years~~Some things never change.
