Dolphins down and seemingly out after loss to Eagles

This was bad.

The score, a 26-10 whipping, was bad. The performance of the offensive line, giving up nine sacks, was bad. The fact Miami starting quarterback Matt Moore left the game with concussion-like symptoms is bad.

The fact Tony Sparano is unable to win out is bad for him if you recognize that I wrote in Sunday's Herald that the coach had to win out to have any chance at saving his job.

That will not happen. The Dolphins will have their third consecutive losing season under the Parcells-Ireland-Sparano administration. They have also been eliminated from playoff contention.

Sparano's days are practically over. GM Jeff Ireland's job is similarly on the line.

Spaano will be lucky to get a shot at Offensive Line Coach at the NFL level or Head Coach in High School ball.

Sissy Krissy,

Are you trying to say something meaningful or just repeating what your the guys at the gangbang told you last night?

.....you make it so easy.......

That is all....

I've heard rumors that if Peterson is put in charge of football operations, Herm Edwards could be the next coach.

I know for sure that it won't be Cower or Gruden. I don't think Gruden has any interest at this point in coming back. I think Cower would come back, but he will hold out for the "perfect" situation, and Miami isn't it.

Please not Herm Edwards - the horror.

DA,

Absolutely! Its been a bumpy ride with the on the job training for Sparano. But he has a damn fine record when getting consistency from his qb position.

I would definitely take Sparano if I had a very decent to great qb and need a hc.

Herm "you play to win the game" Edwards.....

Very disciplined man....old school football coach....

but has never had that explosive "O".....

Wants t run the ball and play "D"......

I like what I know of Herm Edwards.....love him on Sports Center...

Would not wan him as the next FINS coach....

If you're not going to take Barkley based on him playing at USC then I'd advise against drafting Johnny Unitas, too, based on the lack of success University of Louisville QB's have had in the NFL.

You can't draft that way. It would be like turning down a perfect job seeker because he's from the same town the dud that just got fired is from.

That said, I doubt Miami even gets the chance to draft him unless he falls out of the top 5.

Best news I've heard in a long time, not to have to watch that gum chewing idiot anymore.

How many times did they try to run up the middle...again? It as 3rd and 1....oh my don't try a play action pass like the killer teams do, just run twice for no gain.

Please let it end.

winning 4 games screwd up our Suck for Luck efforts! now we get stuck with Vince Young te 3rd of what ever his name is from baylor...

You guys forget when Sparano got consistent qb play(CP) from the qb position over an entire season. We went from 1-15 chumps to 11-5 Afc champs.

Sparano doesnt work in personel. He didnt draft Henne, and it wasnt his fault CP's noodled arm got exposed against the Ravens(playoffs). You cant argue he isnt a good hc when the qb position plays welll.

Bears and Bronco's....0-0 in the 3rd quarter.....

We might get to witness another Jebow Miracle

Sparano's teams look lost, confused, lethargic most of the time. They are not ready to play. Who cares how much the players like him. We know some superstars didn't (JT, RW).

His communication skills are the worst I've ever seen. When I look at that tangled mess of wires behind the home entertainment center, it reminds me of Tony's brain.

el guru - we'd be lucky to get RG3....he'll most likely be off the board before Dolphins draft. He's way better than V Young. He has actual leadership abilities....a 4.0 GPA.....comes from a military family background....very disciplined. Those are just some of the intangibles.

I'd have you take a look at this guys stats and footage for yourself. Also, while he can certainly run with it, he prefers to make the play throwing the ball....thus the almost 4,000 yards passing this season.

If Miami has the chance at this guy, they should take it. If they pass him up for some other position, they would be very stupid.

How about paying that fat SOB Soliai 12 million dollars a year and then he only plays on 1st downs and never makes a sack or even a tackle. Pathetic.

Anyone who believes sparano is a good
Coach is purely moronic, maybe 98 percent moron.

Now that the Season is over, I will discharge my mind. The majority of you writing here are a bunch of losers, who wouln't see a good thing even if you bumped into one, and will never amount to more than you are now, and probably less.

dr. roberts,

I'm picking Barkley because I don't see a lot of holes in his game, not because of the school he plays for. I also think he's a safer pick than RGIII. Will all that being said, I won't be disappointed if they end up with RGIII.

Good chance we see Losman next week. Not sure how bad Moore's concussion is but the NFL is really cracking down on guys who get concussions. If Losman plays next week (against Buffalo, btw), this would do anything but help our chances to get a higher pick.

dr. roberts,

Your keyboard operates far faster than your brain does. How many qb's have consistently been top 10 draft picks out of Louiville?

Track record states many have come from USC that either far underachieve, bottom top 10 nfl qb at best, or just plain bust. No Usc qb has ever won a sb.

Heck has there even a been a top 10 drafted USC qb that even ever made it to a sb? As many USC qb's have been drafted top 10 or 1st rd period. It's a shame you have to do research to correctly answer that question.

USC qb draft history suggest Barkley will be a 10yr starter at best, But that's about it. Hope our new gm sees it that way.

I want Sparano out and replaced (hopefully) with an upgrade but at the same time that does NOT mean I agree with you guys that seem to literally hate the man or think he's an idiot.

For one thing, the fact of the matter is that Sparano WILL continue to draw a very healthy paycheck coaching football---either as an assistant at the pro level or perhaps as the head guy at a smaller college program.

In case you needed a reminder, nobody will ever be offering YOU a football job. You can be assured of that.

Secondly, the team clearly never quit on him. I know some of you wanted that---wanted a Colts-like abortion of ineptitude---but the squad obviously likes the guy and cares about not embarrassing him that way.

Should that save his job? NO. I believe he's a 'decent' coach and we need more than decent. So, yeah, I want him canned.

But leave me out of the Hatefest. He's a good man and I wish him well.

Tony Sparano is a decent, respectable and admirable Man, far above of whatever crap you write against him here. He just takes tooo long to learn.

I think there are two teams we should be looking to move up with. The Rams and the Vikings. Wouldn't be surprised if these teams didn't win another game this year. So the question is can we be the team that's in the best position to move up and get Barkley? If we're top 5, I think we have a chance. The two teams that will want to move up to get Barkley also are Washington and Seattle. It's all becomg very clear what we'll have to do.

You miss the point entirely, YG.

That's fine---it's the norm here.

Have a good night, gotta meet friends for drinks. And here's to better days regardless of any disagreement on how we get there!

Respect and admiration have nothing to do with it. Winning is everything at this level. Those who can't see that should stick to playing checkers with the boy scouts.

I pray Barkley declares. It will help us get RG3!

I SEE FLIPPER BREED HERE, HOW MANY TIME FLIPPER FLIPPED?

Trust me, Tony Sparano will NEVER be offered an assistant coaching postion at the NFL level - maybe in College.

Yes, we are all losers. And so you keep company with losers. So that makes you what?

Gosh darn when will I ever get any respect. I have been calling this since before the draft.

What in the heck happened to Buffalo.....

Talk about falling off a cliff.....even had a win over the Pats....

I need to look at they're schedule.....

You wouldn't know winning if you were looking at it through a Telescope, pal.

SAY GOODBY TO THE PIZZA DELEVERY MAN COME XMAS EVE, PLAY NEW ENGLAND WHAT WAS IT LAST YEAR LIKE 42 TO 0 AT HALF TIME,THEY MIGHT JUIST ECLIPSE THAT SCORE.

ALoco,

MATT MOORE MY A*SS

((BUUFFET OF PORTA-JOHNS))

ALoco, my 8 year old daughter said today that Tony looks like a pizza delivery guy.

I respectfully disagree with Armando stating that Sparano's days with the Dolphins are are practically over. I think that's just too much implied authority on the comment. I don't blame Sparano on the loss. Jake Long, Vontae Davis and Matt Moore all left injured when there was still a lot of time left to play. Yes the team struggled to convert on 3rd and short and turned the ball over, but that doesn't mean Sparano is the one to blame. I believe he's a great coach and that this loss is one more to learn from.

OSCAR, WERNT YOU AROUND WHEN GALILAO INVENT TELESCOPE?

Yes Pablo, and Marc Columbo is a great starting right tackle as well.

With regard to Sparano, I think he could outcoach me or any of us (especially the day to day technical work). I can respect him even if his efforts did not result in the goals that were set for the team.

With regard to Jeff Ireland, I think any of us could do better than he has with regard to personnel moves. This is a position that requires more than a little luck to be sure. Even so, the failure of Ireland (and Parcells) to do anything about the QB position other than look for "value" at the games' most important position is what has doomed this team from the start. Without a good young QB, it is almost impossible to build a team in the modern NFL. It can be done, but Ireland and Parcells refused to do it.

They were OCD about signing Dallas Cowboy castoffs. What was the deal with that? It was so common, it was crazy.

They focused way too much on the offensive line and yet, somehow, produced on of the very worse lines in football.

Perhaps I'm totally mistaken, but I think the problem for the Dolphins has been the inability and refusal to try to find a quality QB. San Diego got burned with Leaf. They went out and got BOTH Brees and Rivers.

Even during Jimmy Johnson's last couple of years, the chance to find Marino's replacement was neglected. Since then, the Dolphins have traded a boatload of picks for running backs (Williams) and "value" QBs (Fielder, Feeley, Culpepper, Green, Beck, Henne, and White).

The Dolphins simply must find a QB prospect (not an aging, injured Manning) in 2012.

dr. roberts,

Very well said at 6:01pm. I share the same sentiments as you. A good man, just not good enough to get this team where they needed to be. That's life, sometimes....but certainly not the idiot or loser, so many people on here want to paint him as.

ALoco, Oscar is content with a 4 and 9 Head Coach.

I know, the Truth hurts, but even if you are very angry, we agreed to no impersonations. Right?

Good to see the real Dudphins show up today. Was there any doubt? There isn't a single person associated with this franchise -- from the fraudulent owner to the fraudulent G.M. to the fraudulent corching staph, er, staff to the fraudulent players to the fraudulent cheerleaders to the fraudulent waterboys -- who belong anywhere in the National Football League. Or the Arena League for that matter. And, holy God, I'm sick of hearing what a nice man Tony Sparano is. He's a scumbag. He killed this franchise, along with his buttbuddy Bill Parcells, and has ruined not just Sundays, but an entire four-month block, not just gamedays, for me and other long-suffering Dolfans. I wish this mouthbreathing coward nothing but the worst. Firing is too good for him

AMEN BROTHER, thats my feelings exactly! So sick of hearing how nice he is, how much his players love him bla bla bla State pens and federal prisons are probably full of "nice guys" too!

Sparano for Coach of the Year!

BRING IN JOHN McKAY. HE WOULD BE ALL FOR THIS TEAM'S EXECUTION!

PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS!

DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT PLAYOFF! PLAYOFFS?

Armando, your writing is bad. If you get paid to do it, that's bad. Yeah! Its that bad.

This regime was brought in to turn the team around. Millions were spent on this regime's take over. They failed to do the job they were hired for. Simple as that. Nice guy or not has nothing to do with anything.

The fact that Sparano might have kept his job despite a .500 team is a joke and indicative of how far this franchise has fallen. An 8-8 team would have been 'good enough' !? What a joke. Low expectation will yield low results! Good riddance you POS!

Be careful what you wish for. A new coach will likely start over personnel wise and set us back for years under a new scheme. Draft the QB or WR 1st depending on where we fall and get a starting RT in FA. Let Sparano finish out his contract since we got to pay him anyway,
