Dolphins down and seemingly out after loss to Eagles

This was bad.

The score, a 26-10 whipping, was bad. The performance of the offensive line, giving up nine sacks, was bad. The fact Miami starting quarterback Matt Moore left the game with concussion-like symptoms is bad.

The fact Tony Sparano is unable to win out is bad for him if you recognize that I wrote in Sunday's Herald that the coach had to win out to have any chance at saving his job.

That will not happen. The Dolphins will have their third consecutive losing season under the Parcells-Ireland-Sparano administration. They have also been eliminated from playoff contention.

Sparano's days are practically over. GM Jeff Ireland's job is similarly on the line.

"We'll get this fixed. We'll get this cleaned up."

rubedaddy who cares if we have to pay Sparano. its billionaire Ross's money. Chump change. Time to move on.

Sparano the Mouthbreather is so incompetent, cowardly and flat-out stupid regarding the game of football that he shouldn't be allowed to watch a movie on TV if football is mentioned in it, much less actually have anything to do with the sport on any level. I wouldn't let him observe flag-football games in the park. He's a jackass. Worst corch in the history of the league. Rich Kotite, Marty Morninhweg, Rod Mrinelli? Move over. You've been replaced. By the mouthbreather. And, rest assured, Stephen Ross will find someone who is even worse. It's what he does.

Tony can finish his contract out at Dominos.

Well said Fed Up.

RHIII is SHORT!!!! Not nfl material (see Charlie Ward); I would love to see Barkley......he will NOT come out this year; USC will not be probation next year, young team, will be preseason top 5, heisman front runner. Stuck w. drafting Landry or keeping Moore/ Hiene.... I just threw up in my mouth

RGIII that is not RHIII

I've heard rumors that if Peterson is put in charge of football operations, Herm Edwards could be the next coach.

I know for sure that it won't be Cower or Gruden. I don't think Gruden has any interest at this point in coming back. I think Cower would come back, but he will hold out for the "perfect" situation, and Miami isn't it.

Wolfman13,

Actually this just "may be" Cowers perfect situation. Taking over a team which will have:

1) a weak schedule next season.
2) HOPE to draft a 1st round QB
3) Total control if he wants it.
4) A GMC truck full of $$$ loot.

I think that he will be lured away from that cushioned seat.

Cowher is a tired old bag. Will never coach again.

CHINA MAN COWER IS ALREADY COMITED TO THE APE CITY DONKYS NEXT YEAR,OPRAH PROMISED UNLIMITED PINA COLODA'S AND A BEACH HOUSE FOR HIS MAMA-SAN
(BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE)

ROSS HAS MONY BUT OPRAH HAS MORE.
(BUFFET OF FINANCE)

Guaranteed cowher is the coach. And it doesnt take a proven winning coach years to build a team and become a contender again.

So I take it that IF you happen to wake up some morning and open the paper to read that Ross hired Cowher that you will be:

1) Happy
2) Sad
3) fill in the blank.

I don't want to come off as if I know a secret or anything like that but I think it's a done deal. I base THAT view on the LEAK that Ross's minions have been talking with Cowher or his peps and when it leaked out they all went into deny mode.

Cowher is the man to lead this franchise back to glory, as NY G states apart from the QB this is a great situation here and he can get his QB in the 1st round of the draft, Ross will give him freedom to trade up and do what it takes to get Luck, its been well documented how much Ross thinks of Luck and Indiananpolis may just trade the pick depending on Manning, noone can predict whats going to happen with much certainty except Sparano is gone and hopefully Ireland with him. RG3 doomed himself by winning the Heisman yesterday, no Heisman winning QB has done anything in the NFL lately

Sparano's press conference. "Well I thought our offensive line played pretty well. We had a couple of minus plays here and there we'd like to get back but overall not a bad job. Reggie ran the ball really well and everyone played hard. We'll have to take a look at the tape, but it's all fixable."

NY"g" I would be ecstatic, Christmas comes to Miami early.

Every loss brings us closer to a change in regime and a top QB pick. No sense to winning any more games. We are going to have a losing season and NO chance at playoffs. Let's evaluate our other players by giving them more playing time and prevent further injury to our good players.

Sparano should stop being selfish and shut Long down, he's been struggling to be healthy all year, now sit him on IR for the last 3 games to be healthy for next year.

LOL, If I could afford it i would throw him a welcome parade.

JP Losman to start against Buffalo, you couldn't make it up.

nyg wake up. A media leak a year ago and nobody really even knows the details.

Means absolutely nothing, nada. A leak? Right.

husketeer,

I agree, we need to protect our investments with Long.

Also, I would give Bush the Dolphin MVP and the NFL should give him the Most improved player award.

I am not content with TS as I want to win on a consistent basis. There has to be a Coach out there that can take over this talented Team and, sooner rather than later, gets them to be playoff contenders every year.

I relocated to Brazil and for an entertaining experience, I recommend watching an nfl game broadcast on the Brazil NFL network with Brazilian announcers. Simply hilarious!

Not the most knowledgable fans down here, but even they laugh at me when I mention I mention I'm a Dolphins fan.

I'm currently watching Denver-Chicago and apparently Teebow-mania has even spread to Rio de Janeiro.

Oh well, Go Dolphins! or "Vamos-la, Golfinos do Miami!"

BTW, the Game su-ked, on both sides. I was expecting better.

OC,

The coach that can bring stability and championships back to the franchise would be Cowher.

I base that on his record at Pitt. He had a great family behind him.

I also base that on the fact that the Steelers for the most part are the most stable NFL origination out there.

BILL COWHER aka THE JAW record below:

Super Bowl XL victory (2005)

2 AFC Championship victories (1995, 2005)

AP NFL Coach of the Year (1992)

2× Sporting News NFL Coach of the Year (1992, 2004)

149–90–1 (regular season record)

12–9 (playoff record)

161–99–1 (overall record)

In Cowher’s 15 seasons, the Steelers captured eight division titles, earned ten postseason playoff berths, played in 21 playoff games, advanced to six AFC Championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances.

He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles.

At the conclusion of the 2005 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had the best record of any team in the National Football League since Cowher was hired as head coach.

I remember when I was a kid. If you think I know nothing about football, you should have met me then! LOL

Anyway, at that time I saw college teams go undefeated, so I thought nothing of the Dolphins being undefeated, was just glad they won the SB. I really didnt have a clue of the absoluteb greatness I witnessed until 10, then 15, then 20, 25, then 30, then 35, now 40yrs later.

Green Bay may equal the mark, but, still WOW!

Hopefully we draft Robert Griffin III. Not taking anything away from Andrew Luck but RG3 is by far the best quarterback of his class.

The TEBOW team just tied it with seconds left. It's a game folks.

Sparano not a loser? Maybe Stevie Wonder can not see it but the statistics show a different picture.
Bye bye Tony, don't ask for a reference.

MY ONLY CONCERN ABOUT COWHER OR ANY OTHER BOOTH COACH IS THEY'LL BE BACK IN THE BOOTH IN 3YRS.

SEE: JJ AND BP!

(BUFFET OF BOOTHS)

Tebow Time again - last minuite drive to set up a field goal, tie the game and head into overtime. Amazing!

YG,

And you base that 3 year stint on? Also, if we are turned into contenders and win playoff, championship games and have a chance to go to the SB, what more can we ask for?

THAT alone will be a 100% improvement over the status qua don't you agree?

someone please tell me not only why Colombo is a starter but why he is still in the NFL?

fill in some holes and the FINS don't look so bad next year IMO - agreed the first pick should be for RGIII - no matter what it takes. This team has had too much turn over at QB and HC this past decade it's time for continuity.

I was actually happy to see the loss today even though it was almost a given but I hate to see the FINS lose - this year is gone it's time to start thinking about the future. I like the comment above - at least the FINS are trying to win - Indy can not possibly be this bad without one key player (manning).

IMO the FINS may win at Buffalo but they will not win at YETS or NE. MY MANTRA FOR THE LAST DECADE - MAYBE NEXT YEAR - GO FINS.

I still say if Sparano finishes 7-9 keep him - that is a 7-2 finish -we lost to the most talented football team in the league today without our starting qb and left tackle - JP Losman looks exactly like he did at Buffalo - no pocket awareness. The team is still playing hard and we arent going to get any of the top 3 qbs anyway next year. If the team doesnt fold its tent and we win out - givem 1 more year.

Barber just coughed it up and Tebow cont...

TEBOW LUCK CONTINUES. BEARS JUST FUMBLED IN OT!

KENT, REALLY?, REALLY?, YOU WANT TO START NEXT YEAR 0 AND 4 LIKE HE DID 3 OF THE LAST 4 YEAR?

I still say if Sparano can keep his day job delivering pizzas at Domino's and Head Coach the Fins at the same time keep him.

ROFLMAO..

Herman cane wouldn't even hire him for Godfather Pizza..

Cowher is a fine Coach and if it's him, I wouldn't mind. But I prefer a hungrier Coach, someone full of potential but that hasn't established his reputation in the NFL, a la Jim Harbaugh. Let's see if there is such a specimen out there.

DENVER INFG POSITION. UNBELIEVABLE!

Tebow Time!

DENVER TRYIN FG TO WIN(51YDS)

All the people naming reasons for a coach please put in the work and see if they had 100 percent control over picking the players

Denver wins 13-10. OMG!

UNFRICKENBELIVABLE! TEBOW MAY BE A MAN OF GOD, BUT PLAYS LIKE HE HAS THE DEVIL IN HIM!

TEBOW WINS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We know FAT TONY is not a football coach but if he's any kind of a man he will just walk away tomorrow!!!!

You guys are dreaming big time. Cowher is not leaving the booth. Based on a rumor of a leak of a meeting and nothing more? Nahhhhhh

I love how people are weighing the pros and cons of cowher....or gruden. This blog is kinda 'infuriating to say the least, with it's unrealistic batch of idiots. We have the third most hated coach 'in' the league, and It's not because he wins like coughlin or bellichek, it's because he doesn't and is just, well, hated.....and we talk like we might not want this or that. We did it with Brandon Marshall, we did it with every other trade and position. Well, you did it. And it proves ur an idiot.
We need upgrades, and we will get a pretty basic upgrade at coach, and it will make a difference, and a basic one at qb, whoever it is, and it will make a difference. If we got cowher? He's or gruden would be the
SUPERBOWL of upgrades, because they HAVE RINGS. so shutup. Let's just hope that whoever we get is an actual upgrade and not just on paper, and if I hear one more 'i don't want cowher or gruden, I want someone with fire and hunger' when we are sitting here with Tony sparano, or 'i don't want rg3 he's not polished enough' when we are sitting
Here with Matt frickin moore!.....enough said.

Jesus is a Bronco's fan.

P.S.-- Mando don't even try anymore positive Fin spins--they out right suck!!!!!!

TEBOW HAS THE DEVIL IN HIM COME 4TH QTRS! LOL

Kent....ur obviously a jets fan. Go. Away.

To all you Cowher wishers-- sell this team and send them to L.A.
