Recap of Dolphins day 1TB

Today was Day One of the Todd Bowles era.

Why do I have this strange feeling of deja vu? Oh, yeah, Jim Bates!

Anyway, Bowles learned that he was taking over the team from Tony Sparano. Bowles said Sparano called him in and said he'd been fired and that Bowles was taking over on an interim basis. That's how Bowles found out.

Seems odd, no?

You'd think Stephen Ross might have broken the news to Bowles. Or general manager Jeff Ireland.

Anyway, for a a couple of hours Bowles says he felt a bit overwhelmed until he got his head around the notion that every great coach in NFL history had a first meeting, a first week of preparation, a first game. "Once I settled that, it all kind of slowed down for me," Bowles said.

And once it slowed down, it was tiime to hit the ground running. In his first meeting in front of the entire team Bowles told the players to give Sparano and call or text and encourage the former coach. He told players "everyone is being evaluated."

How true. Bowles is being evaluated by everyone in the NFL, not just the Dolphins. "I'm not trying to be Don Shula," Bowles said. "I'm trying to win football games."

And the players better get comfortable with the idea that a new sherrif is coming to town next season so they better ride straight the final three games this year if they plan to be around.

The Dolphins travel to Buffalo and it is quite possible J.P. Losman will be starting against his old team because Matt Moore missed practice with a head/neck injury. Bowles said Moore does not have a concussion but added that more tests are pending.

Jake Long (back) and Koa Misi (shoulder) also missed practice today. John Jerry worked in at starting left tackle in Long's absence. What of Nate Garner, you ask? He played for Long last week and yielded three sacks. Enough said.

Garner is a fine swing player. He's a natural guard whom the Dolphins can force in there at right tackle in a  pinch. But he's not a left tackle. Just isn't. I'm not certain Jerry is a left tackle, either. But not too many of those are on the market right now.

I've advocated the Dolphins move Vernon Carey back to left tackle but Carey is still hobbled by an ankle injury, which kept him limited in practice. So there goes that idea. Yeremiah Bell (foot) and Anthony Fasano (ribs) were also limited in today's practice.

Losman said he and Pat Devlin shared first-team snaps today.

Le cogieron el cul- a odin?

You must be careful Man, there's a lot of bugas here and if you ever meet them you must press your back against the wall.

I've done EVERYTHING(and everyone)I can to help make America more Beautiful.

Why not help do your part to diversify the Andean Races?? For starters I've actually been to these Countries before and can tell you you'd have to be a SAINT to make such a colossal sacrifice. These women don't shave or brush (horrible B.O.) which I took to mean in my time in the area that all other forms of hygiene went out the window if you know what I mean. That and the inbreeding has caused an almost mongoloid appearance in these people and you realize that what saved them was the mixing of the races by our forefathers (Spanish, Portugues, Anglo Saxon, Italian ect..) it's what allowed to a certain extent evolution in some Indian races while making some beatiful women as well, nothing sexier than a mutt.

ODINSEYE ARE YOU FAT?

Posted by: ALoco | December 15, 2011 at 12:30 AM

NO! Unfortunately not, I'm the complete opposite. I know all the health issues and stigma attached to being fat, it's not pretty. However, neither is being CONSIDERED skinny.

It's just as tough for a guy like me to gain weight as it is for over weight people to lose. There's a complete set of problems and stigma attached to the trim as well.

I'm ALMOST 6'-2" at 195 lbs. It's actually what I consider perfect. The thing is though, if I'm not careful, if I don't pay attention to my intake and excercise, my weight fluctuates very quickly.

I can lose 15 pounds without realizing it and then all the rude jokes and comments start:

You finally caught AIDS? Serves you right you Man W hore!

The age and hepatitus is FINALLY catching up with you, huh?

I wouldn't want to be overweight by any means(that's why I NEVER drink Light Beer), but being slim, fit and trim ain't no Bowl of Cherries!

Why do you ask(did I really just ask that-GREAT!)?

Man, I think they are trying to see if you can bend over, man.

oscar,

I was refering to this part of what I re-posted as someone who speaks Spanish you can appreciate the creativity at play here.

Here's a new song I'm working on. I only got the chorus so far.

It goes a little something like this:

OWN Deh - Own Deh Stah!

Mi Penocha Quertoe!

Please, leave odin alone. He is a very nice person and the only one here currently laughing at my jokes.

Fin4,

My Spanish is what some might call "Limited".

I'm no Brew - Ho, so tell me, what does this mean:

odin @1:08

It means, Did someone penetrate odin's rear??

Dear Ireland, u went to Baylor. If u dont draft the Baylor Bomber, u will be a disgrace to yourself and your alma matta. People in this town that were born here and never liked the Dolphins will become fans. Barkley is not better than RG3 by any means. Make it happen. Thx!

Wow! I don't know if he should start drinking again or not. I do know he should go and buy himself some puss.........er...........whatever it is that'll get his mind off of my "REAR"!

odin,

We can laugh and have fun when the topic is as dull as what Mando gave us today but sometimes lines get crossed and I don't find it very amusing. I wanted to clarify that given the comment was directed at something a I re-posted that had nothing to do with what he was refering to.

Fin4,

No worries Bro.

I knew what YOU were refering to.

If we can't cut up and have a laugh once in a while, we're missing out.

ValHalla!!!!

For those lamenting the firing of Sparano, let me remind you that the team is currently 4-9 and and about to wind up yet another LOSING! season. Also, the stinkin Jets whose rookie coach is Rex Ryan, once again has a chance at the playoffs, Sparano's Dolphins not a chance in hell and is going to finish somewhere near the bottom of the league, again.

The team has had to buy tickets for several games just to fill enough seats to avoid local tv blackouts.

This once proud franchise legendary fame, has seen it's lowest days since Sparano took over. The only successful year was due to having Chad Pennington as the starting QB. Since he went out injured, Sparano has tried to force the ill-qualified Henne as starting QB to no avail, taking the team down with him each year he has started. Henne has no business in the NFL, period.

This same Sparano sent Ricky Williams off because Ricky criticized T Spo's coaching style as being overbearing and tyrannical. There is a very good chance Ricky will get a Super Bowl ring for the 2011 season.

This same Sparano dissed the fan base with the comment that he didn't "care what the fans thought."

So, now why you cryin?

OK, you got me! I lied. I did however, have to wipe some cheap liquor off of my Computer Screen! I wonder how that would work?

WCLOMCS(Wiping Cheap Liquor Off My Computer Screen).

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I don't think anybody would get it...................

Posted by: odinseye | December 14, 2011 at 11:38 PM

ODIN, WHHY YOU BLOG AND DRINK FOR 16 HOUR A DAY?

ccotown, Though Sparano had his faults, I can't blame him for everything you have on your list. Sparano was stuck with Henne, no choice. Publicly Sparano has to say that Henne is the man whether he agrees with that or not. Remember behind Henne was, well knowone until Moore. Not sure if Sparano sent Ricky packing or Ireland. We do know that Sparano did not agree with many decisions by ireland. And if Sparano worried about what the fans think, we would have palmer as QB, sorry Moore is playing better than Palmer. Not that Im a big Sparano supporter, but he got shafted. and now the fans will get shafted when they bring Peterson on board.

Yep, this is gonna get real ugly, real quick. Buffalo has a bone to pick, and will be looking for payback from that beating by the Dolphins last month. And having Jake Long out is a good way to get it done. JPLosmanduck.com.

If I was Losman, id call in sick. Can you imagine how bad the Bills want Losman? I smell blood in the water,,,,,,,,

sad thing is Bowles might be a good head coach, but if we win for him then we lose a good shot at QB

at this point in the game I'm willing to lose the last 3 games.

Bowles is perfect for the interim job. No one, not even his mother wants him for permanent head coach. If they had put either coordinator in there temporarily and they won out. There would have been a cry for them to have the job permanent. Ross wants a rock star, not controversy.

what difference does it make how Bowles found out? They should have called Parcells back to fire Sparano and inform Bowles - hiring Parcells to right this sinking ship was in hind sight a bad move - does anyone really believe he gave much thought as to who would make a good GM and HC? Parcells - " hey Tony the Dolphins want me to come down there and fix their team - Jeff, why don't you and Tony join me, we can drag along some of the team as well, it will be fun and by the way big bucks." "I hear they have some nice golf courses in Miami - yeah, vacation time."
Parcells set TS up for failure - Ireland was already a failure and IMO has continued that tradition. Get that bum out of here or this team will continue the revolving door coaching merry go round. It's like the 3 stooges meet Godzilla. Was that a movie??? It should be now.

Miami Please stay away from RG3 he is nothing but Hype grab Barkley much better of a QB
