Reggie Bush is out on Sunday; Daniel Thomas time

Dolphins coach Todd Bowles just told the media that running back Reggie Bush will not play against the New York Jets Sunday as his ailing right knee will prevent him from playing.

It'll be Daniel Thomas carrying the load, such as it is, for the Dolphins running game. The Dolphins can also use Lex Hilliard behind Thomas to help carry the load and Richard Medlin may be available after being signed off the practice squad earlier this week.

Bush finishes his season with 1,086 yards on 216 carries. He played and started in each of the previous 15 games this season.

And while this knee issues won't be considered a big deal now, because the Dolphins are out of the playoff running and the season ends for them Sunday, it raises questions going forward.

This was Bush's sixth NFL season. He has played in 16 games only once in his career, that in his rookie year.

The Dolphins insist they found a workhorse starting running back this year, one that could run between the tackles, take the pounding and, frankly, be the man.

With Bush going through the season healthy, that argument was a winner. Now, with his knee injury a question, that changes.

What if the Dolphins were a playoff team? Another year in which Bush got hurt, again, would be huge news and a huge disappointment. So can they go into next year with Bush as their planned workhorse again?

Pennington was benched numerous times by the Jets in his career. Then he was released 1 hour after the signed a washed-up Favre. They didn't even try and trade him.

Price has a man crush on Henne. Its ridiculous to debate. Henne never had a winning season, was always one of the worst qbs in the redzone, worst in 4th quarter and on 3rd down conversions. 0-6 in his final games as a fin.

Pricemaster....I've tried to respond to you're insightful question, but my post won't show.

Pricemaster,

Not sure me saying that Moore going downfield more efficiently than Henne translates to him being "So much better than him" but consider....

Moore hasn't had to throw for big yards because he hasn't been behind by a billion points too often, and he hasn't been in a whole lot of shootouts either. The majority of the games he's played lately have been either blowouts in our favor, or we've been in firm control, or even up.
Now some one do me a favor and tell me when the last time Henne went for 300-350-400 yards and we won by double figs'.....Kinda like how Brees, Brady, Rodgers, ect. are able to.
Can you REALLY be assured that Henne's big day vs NE, was because he's "That much better" than Moore? And really, whether he's better or not doesnt mean diddley-squat right now because Moore is playing better than Henne was.

Period.

Actually, he nearly outplayed Brady last time out.

But I'll bet you don't think its because he's "That close" to being as good as Brady....

Have to agree with Leo on this one. It's ridiculous to even be debating this one. I was the bigest Henne backer but his team with this team has coe and gone. Good uck wherever he ends up.

There it goes.

PriceM. @1:04,

Pennington was released by N.Y. who was looking to replace him because he was coming off his 2nd shoulder surgery and looked BAD in the 2nd comeback from them, plain and simple.

His benching's had a great deal to do with his lack of being able to go vertical with any authority at all which limited his effectiveness and shortened the field limiting their O.

Mangini got the "MANGENIOUS" nickname thanks to the play of Pennington dispatching the S.B. Champ. Pats in they're 1st year together. The NFL isn't a blue collar office job and very unforgiving when physical handicaps play there part in careers.

I was never under any illusions that we would threaten for a S.B. with Penny and in actuality was pleasantly surprised he held up for us as long as he did.

The fact he was damaged goods was the undoing of our 09 Season given the TRIFECTA's confidence in his ability to hold up and his 09 loss to the Colts in the famous 45 Min. time of possession game is on Ginn who dropped the game winner with under a minute to go that hit him in between the 1 and the 9.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE OF THE MOST GREAT PEOPLE ON THIS FOURM ............

I think people are looking at L.Jones all wrong. Everyone is saying Luck and RG3. Just remember there are no garuntees in the nfl. Look at Alex SMith of SF. He was the can't miss prospect over Aaron Rodgers. Now look at what has happened. Smith is an average qb where Rodgers is elite. I say trade down in the first to get a second and a third and take a qb in the late 1st round. Either L. Jones or Tannehill

bk,

I agree with you, from the stand point of no guarantees and that people are looking at Jones wrong. We're asking this guy to play for us 2-3 years from now the same way the Packers did things with Rodgers. Why are we looking at him so closely under the microscope? The wrost thing this team could do is just say he's not with and pick another lineman. Let's get one and if that's Jones at 8 then who the Hell cares. If he doesn't pan out, is that any different than some lienman who doesn't pan out? Tired of this organization playing safe all the time.

Matt Moore is our QB now and for the future...When we beat the Jests tomorrow Moore will have been 6-3 over his last 9 games...I see us blowing out the Jests 27-0 and the D having a great day esp JT in his last game...there are other qb's than Griffin and Luck we will draft one to compete with Moore but Moore may be better than anyone thinks...Go Moore and beat those stinging Jests....food for thought Happy New Year

Bk,

I called for that, too. Trade back and get Jones where he wouldn't be a reach. Assuming he leaves early.....Which would be wise considering Barkley chose to stay.

If Moore is so superior to Henne, and Moore was supported by a 1000 rusher this season that Henne never had, then why has Moore only won 5 games this season?

The strong arm quarterback is like the idiot who revs the engine of a his bitchin Camaro in front of girls for attention. The accurate quarterback is the one getting some in the back seat.

You got that one in before the bell Darryl, NICE-LOL!

Brings back some MEMORIES INDEED!!!!

I never did get to play QB, but my old Nova DID have a BackSeat!

I just don't see this FO selling the farm, so to speak, to get any QB other than Andrew Luck at 1. If the price for a trade up to get Robert Griffin is steep, I don't think they are going to do it. There are too many other holes on the team, they probably feel as if they could improve other areas and still win sufficiently if Matt Moore continues to play above average football as he has been doing. Outside linebacker needs looked at, we need another corner, we need a guard and a tackle.

There will be good players available at our draft position that we can get without losing future draft picks or foundation players that we already have on our team. Dre Kirkpatrick will be available, possibly Morris Claiborne. Don't be surprised if we move back a little and pick up someone to play opposite Cameron Wake, Courtney Upshaw or Whitney Mercilus (who has been looking awesome lately). Both Riley Reiff and Jonathan Martin look like good players.

Quarterback picks are just never guaranteed, and while I realize you have to sometimes take a flyer and get one, I don't believe this is the year the fins are going to do it. They will try, no doubt, but to what extent?

But you can never really tell what's going to happen on draft day. Atlanta moving up for Julio Jones? Took me by surprise. Speculation leads to infinite discussion especially when it comes to the NFL Draft.

SB,
Since we'll have no running game tomorrow, the game will rest on Matt Moore's arm.
We know Henne can win throwing 50 times a game because he's done it numerous times.
Moore has never done it and I don't believe he will tomorrow but if he does then I will come in here and apologize to everyone.

played Vs. the Rams were he forced a ton of throws and was picked 6 times, afterwards in the post game interview when asked Favre would famously say, "was it 6 I make no apologies could have been 7 or 8 if I thought I had a play"

You don't forget a THING! MAN! I bet you make SOMEBODY some pretty GOOD MONEY doing whatever it is you do!

Actually, Fin4, when I saw Farve make that comment, that's when I first started to like the guy. From that moment on, I knew he had the spirit of a True Viking Warrior. Definitely one of my FAVORITE QB quotes of all time.

How many times has Henne won throwing 35+ times? I would like to know for self.

He will absolutely be a starter next season probably for the Redskins is my prediction.

Posted by: PriceMaster | December 31, 2011 at 12:55 PM

Price, I wouldn't waste my time arguing this point. Henne was the ONLY Dolphin that started the season ready to play. Anybody that couldn't see the shape of the defense and realize the non existent run game and league leader in dropped TD passes, they ain't going to see it now.

I made this same Washington prediction the night he was injured. Since that time, I've revised it. Henne is the ONLY QB to have ever went Toe to Toe with Brady over the past 5 years(save the Eli Manning junk-PLEASE).

Belicheat will sign him cheap as Brady's back up. Henne will be paired up with Brady and Belicheat won't miss the irony.

Of course, Bellicheat will promptly cut Mallett, at which point, Ireland eagerly scoops him up and tells us all what a coup it was.

Bhwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

RGIII will do for football, what Jordan did for basketball, the kid is ELECTRIC!
RGIII is like Randy Moss with an arm.
And as the draft gets closer, don't be surprised if RGIII LEAPFROGS Luck as the #1 overall pick, reason being, Griffin has more UPSIDE than Luck, seems to me Luck is nearing His ceiling.
So yes fellow Dolfans, I SAID IT!, Griffin is BETTER than Luck, and Luck will actually be a FALLBACK option in this draft, and we can still acquire Luck in this draft.

and we can still acquire Luck in this draft.

OOOPS! I should've said, we will have to SETTLE for Luck in this draft.

Odin @ 3:26......

That is my DREAM scenario..... Let's hope that happens......check that.....let's PRAY that happens......

Odin..... As a self professed drug user and alcoholic..... Who I assume does well in what ever profession that it is you do in life....

Whats your beef with Mallet....another soul who experimented and did things that maybe some would frown upon...

POT MEET KETTLE......

Kris,

BELIEVE me, I was thinking of you when I dreamed up this prediction. The only part I left off:

"And to think, "SOME HERE" want to trade picks for this guy, when we'll actually be able to pick him up off the waiver wire".

Actually Kris, I don't have a problem with Mallett. I'm in a great New Years Eve mood and as usual, **TRYING** to be FUNNY!

Happy New Year Bro.

PS: For the record, I have some type of immunity to alcoholism. Being Half Nordic and half American Indian, there are many in my family that are severe alcoholics. If there was a chance, I would be one. BELIEVE ME. Something in my physiology, I'm blessed.

Also, I haven't been a drug addict since my days on the road, years and YEARS AGO(Worst of the worst). However, for spiritual purposes, I do commune with "NATURE" periodically ;)

Again-Happy New Year!!!!

New Blog Up!!!!

I'm thinking since we are not going into the playoffs, why risk more injury. He probably would have played otherwise.

Lets see Thomas play a full game, to evaluate him going forward.
