Bowles interview complete, Toub on Tuesday

The Dolphins announced earlier this evening that interim coach Todd Bowles had completed his interview for the Dolphins coaching vacancy.

With that, the Dolphins have now complied with the NFL's Rooney Rule. Bowles went 2-1 as Miami's coach but, honestly, he is a longshot candidate by any definition.

Chicago Bears special teams coordinator Dave Toub, the guy who makes Devin Hester run fast, is scheduled to interview for the coaching vacancy on Tuesday, according to The Herald's Barry Jackson.

Why?

There is no doubt Toub is quality. He's also available. He's also benefitting from the fact special teams coaches are now being viewed a legitimate candidates since John Harbaugh made the successful jump from special teams coach to head coach in Baltimore.

Frankly, Toub is also a fall-back candidate.

The Dolphins are scheduled to speak with Jeff FIsher this week although I probably wouldn't call that a classic interview. It'll be as much Fisher feeling out the Dolphins as vice versa. Fisher has hand during this entire coach-search process as he remains the biggest, hottest name available.

I apologize if I've given the impression that Brian Billick is not a candidate, but the truth is I haven't heard his name in recent days for whatever reason. Doesn't mean he wouldn't be considered or has been eliminated. It just means I haven't heard his name recently. Remember he could factor.

By the way, remember those Brian Schottenheimer rumors that seemed to dog the Dolphins earlier this winter? Hahahahaha. An NFL source tells me Schottenheimer likely will not be fired by the Jets. But internally they would not mind if he went elsewhere.

Schottenheimer is a candidate for the Jacksonville job. The Jets would love him to get the job. Schootenheimer is scheduled to make a whopping $3.2 million over the next two seasons so he probably won't take a lateral move that pays less.

But he is definitely not the "hot assistant" some Dolphins fans were expecting him to be earlier.

Yeah, you have a solid point there, odin. But this one has so very little possibility.....

Who the hell is Vivian Vance?

Has anyone else noticed that reporters always write about retreads?

Is Blackmon a Jamaican last name? cause it sounds like one

I am not impressed with Luck at all. That is a number 1 pick? Really? He stares down his receivers. I mean, he literally looks at the receiver he is throwing to the entire time. I have seen exactly one play where he moved from his first read. Weeden is even less impressive.

There is one guy who should be looked at and sought on that field and that is Blackmon. Get a dynamic wideout and solve the Dolphins QB problems via FA... unless RG3 impresses more.

Weeden could be a Jamaican last name too. Just sayin

I know, I KNOW! I'm dreaming Oscar, you got me. But, until somebody else hires him, I'm gonna keep on dreaming!

Think about it? From Ross' perspective, hiring Polian would be bigger than hiring Parcells. Cheaper too! I think it would get fans re-interested INSTANTLY!

Polian! Polian! Polian! Polian!

BLACK

..Blackmon is a stud. I doubt that he makes it past Minnesota. Anyone that had doubts about Luck should put those to rest after tonight. He made 1 bad decision. But he is pretty flawless otherwise. None NONE of these college quarterbacks get rid of the ball like he does. watch his drops..1,2,3 out on time to the open man with accuracy. He has rolled out to both sides, again accurate.. He is the real deal. This has been the story of every game he has played all year.. Blackmon again Stud!

YG,

Who just caught that TD pass?

How many is that for him?

Craig, any comments?

(Buffett of Questions)

These 2 Teams, suky-diky.

odin,

LOL, 3rd td catch!

Man we need Justin Blackmon!! Can you imagine him and Marshall on the same team?? Yikes...Now watch that dummy Craig M tell us we don't need studs...LOL!!

DD,

Luck aint gonna be a dolphin. I could care less what he does tonight. We still have chance at Blackmon.

8====>

Montreal,

You were there when Craigm was talking that nonesense too. Cant believe what comes out of that dude's mouth and he really believes in what he's saying! LOL

Blatnick has looked good also

and the RB Taylor for Stanford

YG, he's so full of himself it's hilarious!! That dude is something else...One poster who put him in his place countless times was Joe Schmoe...Man that was funny...Actually felt bad for him on a few occasions...The dude makes up so much stuff it becomes comedy...Changes his opinions from one day to the other...He'll get mad at someone because he can't handle the truth...What a guy...

Boy, can that guard from Stanford get to the 2nd level!

Montreal,

CraigM tried to tell me that I was the only blogger here he doesnt get along with. But just as you said he gets along with no one who exposes him to the truth.

YG...Do you really think we have a chance at Blackmon? I could see a team like Philly trying to make a trade ala Atlanta last year. They have a stockpile of picks..Even New England could(although it goes against everything they have ever done in the past..But they have 2 firsts, 2 seconds..In some combo they could make a play..they need a WR)..Would we trade up for a reciever?

See what DD said, Luck can roll out either right or left and throw with accuracy. Great athlete!

STFU Oscar, Jeff Ireland maybe watching!

(Boy, can that guard from Stanford get to the 2nd level!

Ha!, YG.

No 1 Montreal,

I was thinking the same thing by half time.

Pairing that guy with Marshall?

Head Cases? Who cares? Ross can afford some Prozac!

Blackmon!

..Blackmon is the anti-Dez Bryant. I would love to have him in aqua and orange.. I don't know his character history. Only the gameday piece they did about his friend that little girl that has cancer..Great story. He may end up being the best offensive player in the draft next year..He could play, and make a difference today.

Toub, "the guy that makes Hester run fast"; Mando I respect you a whole lot but that and your blog about "better hire Fisher or else" are some of your worst work I've seen yet, what happened during New Year's dude, need to drink that Red Bull fast.

DD,

The team ahead of us most likely to draft Blackmon are the Rams. However, now sitting at #2 position, I think the Rams may go RGIII. If so, they could be looking to deal Bradford.

There's a far better chance of getting our hands on Blackmon, than RGIII or Luck.

...That 3rd down play is one of the differences between Weeden, and Luck..Weeden took a hop step, instead of getting rid of the ball. He gets it out on time completion..These are little things that will get you killed in the NFL.

GOOD Game!

PS: The Rose Bowl wan't bad either!

(I know, I'm a Homer)

Blackmon didnt score but he made the key play of that game tying td drive.

Darryl,

Did you notice the way Blackmon got up from the 4th down catch and headed right to his spot?

The guy has his head in the GAME!

I LIKE that!

Probably can't get him, but MAN, I like it!

Man most of you are such prisoners of the moment, yes Blackmon is good but he does not fit our team, Marshall is already that possession, somewhat fast WR, what we need is someone like DeSean Jackson who at 25 will be a FA and already a proven deep threat -what we need- in the league.

Same about Flynn, the more I watch the highlights of that GB-Det game the more it worries me about his arm strength. The dude got bailed out by downright awful secondary play, I mean just atrocious, I think the stats are very deceiving, we can all say the same thing about Henne's first game in 2011 against the Pats (threw like for 500 yds) and we know how it turned out at the end. Stafford looked so much better as a QB however; I do like the way the dude -Flynn- handles himself in and outside the field and does not sound like a robot like Henne. I just can not convince myself Flynn is a major upgrade over Moore.

Meanwhile I see RG3 and see the sky is the limit with the guy, over 70% completion rate, RUFKme? Esp long throws, and he is improving, still developing, his legs add another dimension as well and I think he will be the perfect fit to play with players like Bush an Marshall and if we can add DeSean Jackson and Greg Olsen look out. I think is time for you Mr. Ireland and you MR. ROSS to show us the fans and the world who is boss and grow some balls. Trade up for RG3, trade him to the Rams for our 1st pick in 2012, 2013, a conditional 2014, a 2013 3rd and Hartline. To compensate sign DeSean Jackson (25 years old), Michael Griffin (FS, great hitter, 28) and Greg Olsen (28, TE, Cane, fast for a TE will run up the seam and complement Fasano). We will have a healthy Long, Pouncey, Jerry, resign Solai, and pick OLinemen in the deepest draft for the position in years (get Mike Adams from OSU or G Kelechi Osemele, beast from Iowa State), look for an OLB and add depth to the secondary esp at CB.

No more retreads, no Fisher (besides his brand of football will not work today).
Bring Chudzinski as HC and Shula as the OC, retain Nolan, add the players mentioned above and this team will have some major swagger 80s Canes style just like the Heat, and I know Mr. Ross you do not want to play second fiddle to an NBA team in a football town!

..YG. I would LOVE to get Blackmon.. It just seems like every team ahead of us needs a stud reciever too..Don't count out Jeffries from South Carolina if we decide reciever is the choice..I know it isn't a lineman.Like New England trading up. I'm not sure it is in our DNA to make a play for a stud playmaker.lol

Oscar, that guard you're talking about is David DeCastro. I posted about him today. He's projected as a first rounder. Might be the best interior lineman in the country and the best to ever come out of Stanford.

Tiger,

I liked everything about your post except you fallacy about us NOT needing Balackmon.

While we do need a Deseasn Jackson, have you noticed Marshall out of the slot this year?

We could afford to move guys around more, mix and match more and most importantly, simply create mismatches.

I think you went a little over board in saying we don't need a guy like Blackmon.

Luck calls his own plays?

Montreal,

I think DeCastro is defibnitely going to be ranked the top interior lineman in the draft.

What a game...See you guys tomorrow...Good night all...

Knowing Jeff Ireland he's probably watching this game with Ross and raving how great David DeCastro is. He's telling Ross what a steal it would be to get OG David Castro with the #8 pick.

Ha Ha Ha!!!!

OVERTIME!

YEAH Babay, I can't get enough of this!

This is a TREAT!

YG,

STFU ;p

Um, ever heard of an old guy named Dick Vermeil?

Or Bill Cowher?

I much rather hear those stories about how the Dolphins are cursed because they don't respect Armando enough.

Those are downright hilarious articles and there is none of this lame pretense about actually having to, you know, know what you are writing about. :P

Jeff Ireland's on the phone right now hiring a detective to follow Justin Blackmon's mother.

Why do Half Gallon Bottles have the little dribblers on top? I HATE that.

(Buffet of MORE Questions)

Its Stanford USC all over again! LOL

DUDE! I got tears in my eyes!

I don't care F field goal kickers.

Carpenters my favorite. Not because of his kicks, it's because of how tough he is when it comes to making a tackle!

Is Stanford's kicker drinking tonight? Now Luck knows hoa Peyton Manning felt having a drunken kicker!

..Is there no kickers in college that can make one when it counts???WTF

That was nice!

Weedon's nfl stock should have risen tonight. Luck didnt lose any ground. He was all world before tonight and that remains unchanged.

The way I see it, if we cant get Luck or RGIII, then go for the next best impact player of the entire draft. This may be Justin Blackmon.

Hell, maybe even pick up Weedon 2nd rd. LOL

BLOCK! BLOCK! BLOCK! BLOCK!

FLAG?

Oh God!

Still seems a qb as ballyhooed as Andrew Luck, shouldnt loose 2 games in a single college season.

I would give up my second rouder to move up and get Blackmon(only because we ALREADY have Marshall).

But then again, I like to drink too much and chase Women Half my age!

Great Game!

ValHalla!!!!

Blackmon just declared!

Weeden sounds like a NASCAR FAN!
