Did the Dolphins interview best Green Bay assistant?

The Dolphins have announced their interivew with Green Bay offensive coordinator Joe Philbin has concluded this Saturday afternoon.

Great.

I'm wondering if they interviewed the best Green Bay assistant?

The fact of the matter is many NFL people I speak with tell me the biggest budding star in the Green Bay Packers coaching staff is assistant head coach Winston Moss. Yes, Joe Philbin is considered to be a very good coach. He is a solid X and O guy and he has no problem communicating with most of his players.

But those same people tell me Moss commands a room when he walks into it. Those people tell me when Moss speaks, everyone listens. They tell me Moss will be a head coach in the NFL and if he gets into the right situation, he will be a bigtime winner because he knows football, knows how to pick good people, and is a natural leader.

And so again, I ask, are the Dolphins interviewing the right Green Bay assistant?

I know this: The Oakland Raiders are becoming the Green Bay Packers of the west. They've asked former Packers general manager Ron Wolf his opinion on all things from hiring a general manager to hiring a head coach. No, Wolf is not oficially working for Oakland but his words are resonating.

So it comes as no surprise the Raiders hired former Green Bay director of football operation Reggie McKenzie on January 5. McKenzie has the power to fire and hire head coaches. And, again, people I'm speaking with tell me McKenzie is seriously considering firing head coach Hue Jackson.

And if that happens, McKenzie will ask for permission to interview, you guessed it, Winston Moss.

So the people from Green Bay who best know the people working within the organization are moving to Oakland and when they think of bringing other Green Bay people with them, they're probably going to be talking to Winston Moss.

And the Dolphins, admirers of what the Packers have done, look at the Packers staff and don't include Moss in the interview process? I'm not saying, don't talk to Philbin. I am saying, absolutely talk to Moss!

Oh, one more thing:

Winston Moss is from Miami. He was born here. He went to Southridge High School here. (I remember interviewing him after a high school game and he ended the interview with, "Thank you, sir.") Moss also went to The University of Miami.

Moss was the leader at Southridge. He was a leader on The U team that won a lot of games and had a lot of Alpha males on it. They listened to Moss. He was a leader as an NFL player also. He was a team captain three times in his pro career and was voted winner of the Ed Block Courage Award on the 1993 Raiders and an Unsung Hero Award in 1996 by the NFL Players Association.

The man's impressive to practically everyone who knows him.

Why the Dolphins talk to him, I have no idea.

If he is that good, then he won't work with the leprechaun.

Dalton looks good. Can you ask Ireland why he didn't pick him?

We don't want Winston...Fisher goes to the RAMS !!

Ok, Moss sounds like a real legit candidate.

Almost sounds like a Mike Tomlin type. Which we missed out on after what I have read was an incredible interview.

MIA seems hell bent on not interviewing defensive minded coaches with the exception of Fisher

If the Dolphins said the sky is blue, you'd say it's red and complain.

Amazing, two of the hottest young coordinators ready to take the next step are both canes, Moss and Chudzinski. As usual though for some strange reason the fins never go after the right canes.

Did you ever think that Moss may not be ready to leave the Packers for a head coaching job? He sounds like a very standup and respectable person. Did you ever think he wouldn't want to interview for a position until the Packers' season is over? There could be a lot reasons Moss hasn't interviewed with Dolphins. Has Moss even interviewed with other teams? Take off the tunnel vision and look at the big picture.

Today is the 6th day the job has been open. Miami has interviewed 4 people, it takes time. Or should they interview 24 hrs a day ?

Full picture...what ?? They interviewed Philbin !

They didn't speak with him because this organization doesn't have the sense of a local news writer, it's really that simple. They are bumbling idiots.

Armando, Good article and as a Miami fan, I have barely heard of the guy. You are correct, assuming your comments are, that Miami should interview him. Also, I don't get why (along with you) that Marty Schottenheimer has not been interviewed. I have been talking to family and friends (long-time Dolphin fans like myself) since Sparano was on the chopping block about checking out Schotty. I don't get it when it comes to this coaching search? I get why Ross is leaving Ireland in the back room on the hire and Peterson in the front. While as a public-relations ploy, it's a stupid tactic (Ireland should be publicly involved, even if Peterson's opinion is in the driver's seat), I think Ross is smart enough to know he doesn't want a Head Coach that Ireland hand-picked as a "yes man". Now, to sum up, Fu.k Malarkey! He is malarky! I hated his offense under Satan and ranked it right up there with Henning's under the "head-scratching" play-calling category, ESPECIALLY in the red-zone! Let's get smart and interview the 2 best remaining candidates (IMO): Schotty Sr. and apparently (according to Mando) Winston Moss! I hope Ross is reading this blog, honestly...

Again Armando your just repeating what you you read on someone else's tweet...... PLease report breaking news not retread tweets from ESPN

It pains me to agree with Salguero... actually pains isn't the right word. Astonishes? Anyway, I've been saying this for a long time, that the Dolphins should get the young hungry ex-Cane as their head coach. But if he played for the Raiders, maybe that's his preferred team anyway.

Oh, and Full Picture, I see where you are coming from, but if Green Bay is fine with Philbin doing interviews, then they are probably fine with Moss doing interviews as well.

Fellow Phin fans

You all know I have no common sense

That is all I have to say about that

Back to fart jokes and general nonsense

Soiled :)

Jlb1,

The lack of at least checking out UM guys has always has been a head-scratcher to me?! WTF?! All things (players and coaches) being equal, why not go after already popular home-town product? Vernon Carey?! That's the best home-town guy available to us in the last 15 years?! Fu.king amazing! This is a pattern that includes the last 5 COACHES/GM regimes, starting with JJ!!!

Pauly Peanuts said:

"Today is the 6th day the job has been open. Miami has interviewed 4 people, it takes time. Or should they interview 24 hrs a day ?"

Pauly, bet you dollars to donuts (sorry, meant dollars to peanuts) that this Miami regime and now it's a Ross/Peterson outfit, does not even place a phone call to Moss and Schotty Sr. Bet you!

So Armando stomps his feet because he hasn't heard every coach Miami's going to interview and people stomp along with him ? Really ? WOW !!!

Still, do you have the number for the old folks home Marty is at ? If you want a coach for just 2-3 years, call him, if you want to end the marry go round of coaches, then don't.

what about jay gruden look at what hes done with dalton and that offense

Dolphins get permission from Packers to interview Philbin. Philbin doesn't have to interview with teams if he doesn't want to. Moss sounds like the type of guy to talk about a position with another team after his season is over. Right now, his focus is to help the Packers to the Super Bowl. Interviewing for a head coaching job may be an after thought to that. Besides, he has a pretty good gig, assistant head coach to the World Champion Packers. He may not want to leave just yet.

WHY ARMANDO THINK ROSS WONT INTERVEW HIM, NOBODY FROM DOLPIN ORGANIZATION TALK TO ARMANDO BUT JASON TAYLOR WHO NO LONGER THERE.
(BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE)

Hardcore

It's amazing right? We even miss out on the good canes with second chances! We need a tackle and get Columbo and pass on Mckinnie, we need a tight end and we pass on both Olsen and Shockey, we need safety help and don't get Merriweather. Don't get me started on all the ones we passed up via the draft! Maybe Fisher will pick the Rams and somehow Ross will pull his head out of his axs and do what he said, which was find a young Shula! That could be Chudzinski or Moss.

Don't count Bill Cowher out.. yet.

Just say in as i been saying since October that there are back channel talks and all this Fisher, Philbin, and all the rest of the potentials are just driving up the value of Cowher each hour.

BTW..

How in the world can ANYONE consider Fisher a STAR HC.

If history repeats it self as it always does... Remember when they said they will bring in a STAR QB...

And that star QB was ______?

I am sticking by my guns that Cowher will be named the nest HC/GM but Ireland needs to be whacked first.

Once Fisher REJECTS Ross, Ross will once again be humiliated and have Ireland Whacked for Cowher.

Point is don't believe what the Dolphins want you to as they leak crap out for Armando to type.

Marty Schottenheimer.
205-139-1 (Overall)

STAR COACH ABOVE

Jeff Fisher
147-126-0 (Overall)

LOST 126 games out of 147 and THIS is the STAR HC???

Shotty IS available also but Jeffy the SCOUT will not ask for Shotty because again, Jeff the Scout is in self preservation mode and SHotty wont come here with that POS the Scout as GM.

So just like MANY STAR prospects out there, we will be forced to take what the SCOUT Ireland brainwashes Ross into buying.

WAKE UP ROSS!

If they had interviewed Moss...this article would be about Philbin....

Whats up with the "most" being italicized Armando....

If Philbin is the HC...i'm sure he will love that he has already taken a jab from you (about his communication skills/respect level)...before he even steps foot in....

NY G, DONT WRRY ABOUT ARMANDO GETING ANY INFO FROM DOLPINS, NO ONE TALKS TO ARMANDO,ARMANDO ONLY CONTACTR NOW THAT JASON TAYLER LEFT IS SOME WRITER FOR HERALD NAME NEAL, WHO I HEAR LOOKING FOR JOB CAUSE HARELD CLOSING IN 3 MONTHS.
TO BE OR NOT TO BE.

ALSO, I don't want to see another coach on the sidelines and in interviews wearing those sun glasses. We just got rid of one but the glasses and stash remind me of more of the same.

NY G, YOU DRUNKING ALREADY, HE WON 126 OUT of 273, I KNOW YOU WORK FOR GOVERMENT BUT COME ON
(BUFFET OF CORRECTIONS)

It just got ugly for CINCY....

Kris. Consider the source. Armando has the attention of less than 1% of sports fans in South Florida

I'm not a big Dalton fan....

Lets see what he's made of......

That a low percentage.....

but...then again...there are only maybe 10 real people on this blog.....

The est are all aliases....

Looks to me like Cincy will be looking for a new HC.

I agree, Armando, Miami hopefully, once Fisher lands in St. Louis, ask permission to interview Winston Moss, Rob Chud, & Jay Gruden....

They should have fired Marvin Lewis years ago....

and I don't care if they WIN this game.....Lewis is Horrible....

But like Fisher.....he was begged to stay.....I don't know why....

but in any case.....I'm sure his job is safe...

I think he has some compromising Photo's of the owner or something...

No worries.... I'm sure Ireland will convince Ross that Soprano is the STAR they are looking for and bring him back with more loot and control.

What's Up "PHINLAND"????????

Colts to pick Andrew Luck, ESPN sources say.

They are giving all the teams a heads up as if they don't already know. Will the Colts actually take Luck or bargain for him?

Potentially they could entertain trades with the Rams and pick up say another few picks and take RG3 and Blackmon.

The Rams would have Luck and the colts would be rebuilding the team with RG3 and a perfect WR Blackmon and with a few draft picks pick up a Back.

Their actually hugging and high fiving Joesephs on the sideline.

Yet that was one of the stOOpid-DEST plays I've seen in awhile in the playoffs.

Dumb Int!

How about the Play-Offs?, Who do you all like???

I see a rematch with the G men and Pats in the SB but the NFL wont allow it as there is too much cash with Rodgers in the SB.

What I want to kow is Why did Houston call a time out Cinn. Was ready to punt the ball, I thought only The Fist Pumper did such stoopid things.....

does any one knows if the cuban was kicked out FOR NOT PAYING ANY RENT FOR 4 MONTH OR FOR SOME OTHER REASON ?

Cuban @ 7:10....LOL...

Time to see the REAL Andy Dalton.

Me and Aloco were the only two here advocating Dalton for my Miami last year.

Here we GO!

Please, I love the Dolphins, but they can not figure out how to pick the best head coach for this team. Ireland is a buffoon and Ross is lost, (but I have to admit it, hes willing to spend the green). Interview 100 people, and get a person who understands what it takes to hire a solid head coach. Im afraid this is gonna be 4 more yrs of hell for the fans. But even idiots get lucky soetimes, im crossing my fingers.

Pats are the NFLs "Flagship" Team, Even with a 33 year old Brady.....The NFL Would love to see a GB-NE Super bowl, Kinda like a handing of the torch if you may, The NFL is getting more and More like the WWE...

Is That the "REAL" Aloco on line????(Is there really a Aloco??BTW, This games over, Is Yates the Third string QB for Houston??

Wow!

In the playoffs, **MAYBE** you shouldn't just throw it up like that?

The last series, 4th down? Why not!

This one was just plain ugly and dumb! What the heck was he thinking?

Armando:
I remember send you his Biography 2 or 3 months ago in regards this guy, he is a proven winner with U.M., during his 11 years career in the NFL and 6 years with the Packers as assistant linebacker coach.

If the Dolphins do not interview him is because they show that the G.M. is a football totally blind, and knows of football personal inside as I know astrology-nothing, cero, nada.-

As for the next game...

I actually see a blow out

Saints 48
Lions 17

I also predict that Ndamukong Suh will be led from the field with plastic ties by the Police as he stomps his own head coach into the ground.

On 2nd and 3?

He just threw it up there. C'mon man!

He had his running back wide open in the middle for a first down.

Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you kidding me?

ODIN,

ANDY DALTON IN HIS FIRST YEAR AS A NFL QB HE TAKES THEM TO THE PLAYOFFS AND WE STILL IN THE (( cellar )) .................

Foster, What a beast......

Guess he doesn't have to much (Dalton)....

cuban,

nice to hear again from you , DID YOU LEAVE DB STUDIO ?

LOL At Lil Aloco, I left the contintal US, Retired,Living in the south Pacific... Hows your New Year treating you Lil Friend????

NY "G",

The Lions are going to upset the Ain'ts with strong defensive line play.

Brees is the one that will be stomped into the turf!

Book It!

SOUTH PACIFIC ? IS THAT DB'S STUDIO'S NAME ?

Guess he doesn't have to much (Dalton)....
