I believe today will be a franchise defining day.
Jeff Fisher, who has been weighing whether to take the head coach job in Miami or St. Louis, is expected to make a decision which team, if either, he would like to work for in 2012. Let me be more clear: I am not reporting Fisher will be named coach of either team today.
I am reporting that, according to one source that thus far has been spot on, the coach is finalizing his choice of teams today. Following that decision, I am supposing here, Fisher will tell his agent which direction he's going and negotiations will get going on a contract and various other details.
I do not know what Fisher's decision will be. But it's obvious that whatever he decides will define the direction of both the Dolphins and Rams for years to come.
The winning team will be regarded to be hiring the hotest, most experienced coach on the market. That team will get a head coach who is going to piece together a star-studded coaching staff. That team's credibility will get an instant boost without even one game under the new coach being played.
The team that loses the Fisher sweepstakes will be regarded as having to hire a secondary choice. That team will be rightly seen as having lost out. That team will have to answer to its fan base questions such as, "What is it about you that was deemed to be lacking in this derby.'
It's entirely possible the team not getting Fisher gets a coach that some day in the future does better work than Fisher. But that won't be the narrative now. The narrative now will be that the losing team, well, lost out.
So how do I know Fisher is scheduled to choose today. Well, since the start of this entire saga I've gotten half a dozen e-mails from people claiming to be close to Fisher or his family or his closest friends. One of these people has provided rock-solid information. And that person tells me today is the day he was told Fisher is making his call.
We'll see what happens. I'd expect something to leak before the end of the day is over and definitely by tomorrow as to where Jeff Fisher is going.

It doesn't have anything to do with luring Cowher out of retirement. Cowher has publicly stated that he will not coach for ANYONE this season! He has ZERO interest in coaching at this point. Why the hell would you want a coach that has zero interest in doing the job?
It has nothing to do with $$$$. If he would take it, Ross would gladly hand it over.

Luck could make statement on agent choice soon.
Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, who widely is expected to sacrifice one final year of eligibility and enter the draft, has been the subject of considerable rumor, speculation, and at least one false report regarding his choice of an agent.
The focus on Luck has happened good reason. If Luck chooses CAA, which also represents Peyton Manning, it will suggest the existence of a plan of some sort between the two quarterbacks.
Mullen also points out that Ben Dogra of CAA is expected to land Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, which likely would take CAA out of the running for Andrew Luck, anyway.

RG3 has the mobility of a Mike Vick or at least an Aaron Rodgers. QBs like that don't NEED ProBowl linemen to protect them. RG3 has the added talent of being MACHINE-LIKE in his accuracy on the run.
So, like Ohio (or someone else said) you grab a FA, get a guy later in the Draft, or try Jerry out at RT. He was a TERRIFIC stand-in at LT these last few games.
What you DON'T do, is waste ANOTHER valuable pick on someone who, by the very definition of his position, CAN'T be a playmaker.
Trust me when I tell you this, your way will get us right to 7-9, and no further. Proof is the last 3 years. My way gets you consecutive division titles, Playoff appearances, and sex in the Champagne Room.

The latest Jeff Fisher update is that there is no update.
But we’ve noticed a torrent of third-hand speculation and some incorrect reports on Twitter Wednesday that he was joining the Dolphins, so we wanted to address the issue.
“Those close to Fisher said he’s legitimately torn and going back and forth. He’s swung from Rams back toward Fins then back again and now back,” Glazer writes.
Apparently Fisher is the new Favre. If he does this for another three months. (Perhaps he’s waiting to see what happens in Indianapolis?)
“Fins thought they were out of it this weekend. Rams thought he was coming there. He went to visit Rams, things changed,” Glazer wrote.
If we are reading Glazer correctly, that could mean Fisher is leaning towards Miami. That’s what an NFL.com report indicated earlier Wednesday. SI.com wrote something similar. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald says a “highly placed” Dolphins source doesn’t know what Fisher will do.
Fisher hasn’t made up his mind. He has a lot of friends in the media. When he decides, we’re sure to find out quickly.

Trade whatever picks are necessary to land Luck or RGIII. Likely RGIII since the Colts are clearly set on Luck.
Seriously, picks are VERY overrated. Look at home many Miami draft picks frm the last 4 years are still with the team and performing at a high level...or any level.
Why not trade a bunch for what should be a "sure" thing?
We seem to have better luck with undrafted rookies than the drafted ones which are sold to management by a team of "experts"
Sorry, draft picks are overrated.
(Although the Raiders screwed everyone after dumping 2 1st rounders for that bum Palmer)
