You know I love Robert Griffin III.
It's been that way since the midway mark of the college football season. And it's about more than just his ability to run a 4.41 time in the 40 or the fact hes already graduated, or the fact his folks were both military personnel who instilled great discipline in the kid, or the fact he completed 72 percent of his passes with 37 touchdowns and only six interceptions last season.
No, it's the total awesomeness of this young man. He's bright. He's gifted. He handles himself like a successful 40-year-old man but manages to maintain a certain enthusiasm about things.
I love all that.
And I love what I saw below. I heard he had wowed practically every team he interviewed with at the Indy combine -- the Dolphins included. Check out how he handled the coach's interview with the NFL Network via the Sportsgrid:

Michael Jordon
Magic Johnson
Willie Mays
Bob Marley
Miles Davis

It's not a white/black thing between RG3 & Tannehill...its purely math.
We don't want to mortgage our future drafts for someone who may take years to develop.(color has nothing to do with it).

Home says,
"Another reason why Armando has had and NEVER will have anything to do with drafting in the NFL"
Why would u go after RG3 when Peyton Manning (who is healthy and does not have to play contact football for 6 more months) is on the table?
The Miami Dolphins essentially can have MVP QB Peyton Manning
PLUS THEIR 1ST ROUND & 3RD ROUND PICK IN 2012, THEIR 1ST ROUND PICK & THEIR 5 TH ROUND PICK IN 2013
- ALL IN TACT
WHY WOULD U GIVE UP ALL THESE PICKS?
QB PEYTON MANNING CAN & WILL PLAY FOR 3 MORE YEARS FOR THE MIAMI DOLPHNS
Then u can also sign Center Saturday to work w Peyton
Move Pouncey to Guard where he excelled in college, improving the O-line
Also WR Reggie Wayne is available in FA
Imagine QB Peyton Manning w WR Brandon Marshall (2) MVP Pro Bowlers playing w WR Reggie Wayne, RB/WR Reggie Bush and WR Bess in the slot.
Sure hands & feet WR Hartline for an extra
Then the Miami Dolphins can use their 1st round pick on much needed DE to pressure and sack Brady & Sanchez
Then another lineman & a CB, like Alabama's stud CB(tradeseansmith.com)
The following year the Miami Dolphins will also STILL HAVE THEIR FIRST ROUND PICK (cuz they did not WASTE IT on RG3)
Now we have a team, NOT JUST ONE PLAYER
U get that, Huh Armando ?
have a HAARPy day :(

If Ireland passes on another UM player I'm going to be pissed. Jimmy Graham in the 3rd rd???? really... Streeter is going to be very impressive in the pros creating mismatches everywhere. 6'5 4.40 40 yrd... Him and Marshall would be almost impossible to guard. Honestly I see him going earlier like early 2nd rd but if it's possible to get him in the 3rd rd I can't see how you pass on that talent.
Posted by: beerphin | February 29, 2012 at 10:47 AM
Home is correct. Manning is the greatest QB in the history of the NFL, by a very, very wide margin, and he's not finished yet. When he's finished in 4 years, then we can get our next QB or by then whoever the backup is will be fine. We probably already have the next Steve Young. We need DE, CB, etc like Home said.

Hey Clue up yours,if RG3 would fall to Us at #8 then We should draft him.But the price to mofe up for RG3 is too pricey. That's nor racism fool.It sensible.? What's wrong? can't wait for the 1st of the month so you can get your welfare check.

NHFINSFAN, For you color may not have anything to do with it but as ozkar just confirmed with his dumba** comment, it does for many.
Oh yea what has having our draft picks the last 5 years accomplished. Playoffs? Upper eschelon team? What?

Athletes today have better training and learn faster. Plenty of rookie QB's have done quite well from the beginning. Stafford, Bradford, Flacco, Ryan... So can RG3. The days of riding the pine are in the past for 1st round QB's unless a star vet is already in place.

..This has ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING TO DO WITH BLACK OR WHITE.
Some of you guys live in fantasy land..It is easy to say trade everything for RG III..Many of you will be critical of Ireland should he be out bid..He will be called gutlees, spineless...more of the same. I can see it now.
At what point is it too much? Especially when there are other options available that would would also improve our team. You guys act like Griffen is the first guy to throw the forward pass. Don't get me wrong. I like the kid. I think he is cerebrial, obviuosly off the charts atheletic, has an arm. But like I said he isn't the first to drop the scouts jaws. He will not be the last.
From the back of a keyboard it is easy to say..Trade the farm. It is the only thing to do, and the only scenario I(I being unreasonable outerspace blogger) will accept. If we can aquire Griffen. I'm sure the deal will be very handsome, it will favor ST Louis as far asthe amount of players they can choose. If we do not...The price would be just too much. Will some of you be able to deal with this without throwing a tantrum?

This morning on Mr. Salguero show they were discussing the fact Nick Mangold has a sister Holly who is over 6 Ft and weighs 380. The fat jokes were flying on his show, not funny. Make fun of the players but leave some girl with obvious issues out of it you people are classless. At least his host Perkins showed a little respect, no good football content to compete so you resort to making fun of somebodies disorder, wow man.
Posted by: Dophan81 | February 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM
RG3 unfortunately is not yet ready to make downfield passes in the NFL...He went against some of the worst pass defenses in the Big 12 (which doesnt really play defense)...I woke up this morning and realized that Stephen Ross is right in that Peyton Manning should be our #1 priority. Although I disagree with his reasoning as my take is different.
Signing Manning is our safest best. It would be a short term deal so if he is a medical bust or doesnt work out we are not stuck with him for more than two or three seasons as compared to Flynn if he doesnt workout we are stuck with him for a much longer contract most likely. Also by signing Manning this would mean that we (the phins) would not have to trade away any draft picks as this year's draft appears to be much deeper than usual and the more picks we retain, the more young great talent we will secure on our roster...With that said, PLEASE SIGN MANNING!
Posted by: Flipper13 | February 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM
What we should do is keep Matt Moore and our picks.
Matt Moore will light up the league in the Packers' system this year. Just get him a better O line and one more WR and we're set.
D Thomas and Clay also ready for breakout years.
Keep R Bush and B Marshall healthy and we are contenders, now.

I'm not kidding at all Clue. Some African-American people aren't the only ones who get government assistance. There is other ethnicities in Our country. It bothers mehow some races can be bias towards there own kind and disregard what other races have done. Some are insulting and relish ridiculing others. So no I'm not kidding.I.E.,tony dungy saying that he would draft RG3 first. That's bias. And no one calls him out for it.

Posted by: Tick Tock | February 29, 2012 at 11:03 AM
Our QB situation going into next season could very well look like this:
Manning, Moore, Tannehill.
Manning sells tickets (and give us a chance to win), which is Ross's objective.
QB is settled in free angency, leaving the draft to fill in the other pieces.
I believe we take a stud pass rusher to compliment Wake with the #8 pick.
Posted by: Northwest | February 29, 2012 at 11:04 AM
guess luck sucks alsso since he goes against the no defense pac 12 teams. griffin and luck will both be studs. id give luck a slight edge
Posted by: dusty bottoms | February 29, 2012 at 11:04 AM
..Let me play cyber GM here for a second.. This is what I do. I sign Peyton Manning to an incentive based contract. I don't even worry about his arm. If he can't play it costs nothing, and we go with Matt Moore. Draft day, I trade out of the first round to aquire an additional first next year(whatever scraps I get in this draft say an extra second or third..something similar to the Cleveland deal last year would be fine)...
I now have the fire power to build this team for real. I have some leverage in the future. Something this team never has as we are always scrambling to find picks...This is a much better idea then trading the franchise for one player.
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | February 29, 2012 at 11:05 AM
ozkar, I dont care who gets government assistance, black, white, yellow, purple, just doesnt matter to me. In Dungy case thats his opinion, I wouldn't take Rg3 over Luck. What is your point besides throwing uncalled insults at me?
Posted by: Clue | February 29, 2012 at 11:06 AM
manning cant sell tickets if he cant even throw. moore and tannehill suck. u get griffin and not worry again about the qb pos for 15 years

Armando,
I'm completely sold on this guy too. Not knowing him that well, I heard him in a few interviews on the weekend and again in the clip you've posted. Very impressed! Some guys will say...'who cares. It's what he does on the field'. Fair enough. But does he install confidence in others? Can he be grace under pressure when it's needed most, as guys like Montana and Brady have been? Can he be cool in the huddle when everyone else around him is panicking? I say yes to all of that. Very impressed with the guy.
No can we get him? Washington to me is our main competition. Leaf went for I think 2 firsts, a third, a fifth and a player (Eric Metcalf, I believe). I would pay that kind of price for RGIII. Is it enough? Don't know....but I hope Ireland is in it right until the end on this thing. He owes it to this franchise and it's fans.

When do we fix the glaring hole at GM?
Posted by: Stewart | February 29, 2012 at 11:13 AM
Agree 100 percent with blogger named, "HOME".
HOME, i think u need to move to the front office of the Dolphins to work with Jeff Ireland.
Your combination of quarterback Peyton Manning with Long,Incognito,Murtha,Saturday,Pouncey on the offensive line blocking for him and Reggie Bush,Brandon Marshall,Anthony Fasano,Reggie Wayne and Devonne Bess is simply an outstanding offensive team.
I believe we could seriously compete with the New England Patriots, especially because we could use two high draft picks on a much needed pass rusher and corner back in the nickel.
HOME,every game would be an absolute sellout!
Lets not forget,HOME,Peyton Manning has won at least 10 games every season for the past 11 years in a row.
The team you have put together is better than any of the teams Peyton Manning has played on,so the sky is the limit.
Go Dolphins!
Posted by: Little chubby | February 29, 2012 at 11:14 AM
Actually, trading half of this draft and part of next year's for RGIII makes sense if you're the new coach of the Miami Dolphins. You'd get a pass from the fans for a year or two because you're a new NFL Head Coach and you've got a #1 draft pick QB. However, your career will be tied to how the kid develops. And, to the Win/Loss column of your team.
But, if you sign off on Peyton Manning and he struggles...??? You could be one and done in this league. What? Give you a HOF QB and a good team and you still can't get in the play-offs?
So, I'm sure Philbin is considering trading up for the kid. His job may depend on what they do (or don't do) this year. Ireland has to realize this too! A GM that can't solve the Quarterback issue in this league can't be a General Manager for long.
Posted by: Tracy474 | February 29, 2012 at 11:14 AM
Matt Moore is a top 10-12 QB. Hardly a backup.
Posted by: MJ | February 29, 2012 at 11:15 AM
ozkar, why dont you get a clue?
Posted by: Clue | February 29, 2012 at 11:16 AM
WOW!
This clip speaks by itself!! Amazing!!!! How can there be still people out there not wanting this guy?!!!!!
RG3!!!!!
The other thing people choose to forget is our cap situation and that is also the beauty of getting RG3. His contract will be so much friendlier than either Manning or Flynn's especially. That gives the team enough cap room to go after some of the prized and above all YOUNG outstanding free agents this season:
-DeSean Jackson, only 25, he would be the perfect complement playing opposite of Marshall.
-Greg Olsen, 26, a much better TE than Fasano and incredibly he may come in at a cheaper price
-Mario Williams, 27, so long Solai welcome Mario, the pass rusher we need in a 4-3
-Michael Griffin, 27, FS, the rock we need in the secondary, with him both Davis and Smith will improve their play.
There are plenty more names out there. This whole non-sense about giving up these sometimes meaningless picks is idiotic. We can not afford not to sign some of these guys, especially considering their age. When we signed Dansby to that ridiculous contract (he's not playing up to those $$$ figures either) he was nearing 30. All the guys I mentioned are 25-27.
Please Dolfans, see the large picture and imagine if RG3 does become successful at the next level, look at that offense:
QB- RG3, Moore to start year, Devlin
OL -Long, Pouncey, Jerry, Murtha, Incognito. Best OL class draft in ages, could find later round gems
RB -Bush, Thomas, Messam
FB- Clay
WR- Marshall, Jackson, Bess (Moore, Wallace, Gates). We could lose Hartline in a deal for RG3.
TE- Olsen, Clay, Yeatman
That is one heck of an offense.
If we lose Solai, I'd love to go after Williams or another pass rusher like Avril or Campbell (both 26) or Mincey (28); again all this is possible if we sign RG3 not the other expensive alternatives.
The cherry on top is that this team will benefit revenue-wise. RG3 may end up selling more jerseys than Manning, sell more tix and he will also bring nationally televised games, TV contracts and whatnot. No matter how you slice it, he brings a lot to the table and I hope this front office seizes this rare opportunity.

If you go DL you have to pick Dontari Poe.
If you go LB Luke Kuechly.

Home also thinks this team would be the 2012 AFC EAST CHAMPIONS
Go Phins!
Posted by: Home on the Herald | February 29, 2012 at 11:17 AM
Tracy, you *want* RGIII but there is no truth, at all, in your post. We are signing Manning.
You guys need to learn to control yourself (it's a good trick in bed too). You need to be able to distinguish between what you *want* and what is actual reality.
Posted by: Mranllllllish Girl | February 29, 2012 at 11:17 AM
You may be able to trade back to a team that's desperate for a LT and get another 2nd and 3rd or 4th rd pick
Posted by: beerphin | February 29, 2012 at 11:18 AM
TigerSam, how much money do you think the Dolphins can spend? This isnt Madden
Posted by: Goon | February 29, 2012 at 11:18 AM
Goon...How is that Acorn thinking? We sign one of the best quarterbacks to ever play..And we get additional high picks..Just the opposite.
Second..None of know what will be offered. I'm not against trading up for Griffen, let me make this clear. I want to hear details of the deal before I make a judgement(that doesn't matter one way or another, except to Aramndos blog totals) My whole point is if the price gets to outrageous. It would be reasonable for the team to bow out.

Especially when there are other options available that would would also improve our team.
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | February 29, 2012 at 10:51 AM
What are these other options you are talking about? It's not a great draft to begin with. How many more years to you want to put off getting a potentially elite QB?
You know what? You take a chance, and if you fail you fail, but you never can win if you don't play. It's always a calculated risk. This team is long, long, long overdue.
Posted by: Skyles | February 29, 2012 at 11:21 AM
agree ozkar, moore sucks along with every other garbage qb we have had since marino. for once lets go get a real franchise guy, trade up ireland!
Posted by: dusty bottoms | February 29, 2012 at 11:22 AM
If you don't recognize that Moore is a very good QB with the potential to be great, you just don't know football or you were not paying attention. He throws a great ball and makes smart decisions. He would have been a star in the Packers' system last year and there is a chance he's a star with us. He's only 26 years old.

TigerSam
Home also loves the TE Greg Olsen
Home has watched Olsen sin UM since Home lives in south Florida and goes to Miami Dolphins Training Camps and ALL home games
Greg Olsen runs excellent pass patterns, is fast and has great hands
Olsen is also 6.5 and has NEVER been used properly in the NFL
While blocking is not a strong front fro Greg he is an outstanding Receiving TE and sure would compliment
Peyton Manning throwing to:
WR Brandon Marshall
WR Reggie Wayne
RB/WR Reggie Bush
WR Simply The Bess
WR Brian Hartline
TE Anthony Fasano
FB/TE Charles Clay
Go Phins!
Posted by: Home on the Herald | February 29, 2012 at 11:23 AM
