Yet another reason I love RG3

You know I love Robert Griffin III.

It's been that way since the midway mark of the college football season. And it's about more than just his ability to run a 4.41 time in the 40 or the fact hes already graduated, or the fact his folks were both military personnel who instilled great discipline in the kid, or the fact he completed 72 percent of his passes with 37 touchdowns and only six interceptions last season.

No, it's the total awesomeness of this young man. He's bright. He's gifted. He handles himself like a successful 40-year-old man but manages to maintain a certain enthusiasm about things.

I love all that.

And I love what I saw below. I heard he had wowed practically every team he interviewed with at the Indy combine -- the Dolphins included. Check out how he handled the coach's interview with the NFL Network via the Sportsgrid:

The fins have not been fun to watch since Marino hurt his achilles. RG3 will at least make it entertaining!

No, trade down and pick "a once in a lifetime prospect and game changer" player like Tannehill or Wheeden.

..Tiger Sam..Mannings contract IMO would have out clauses that let the team out of the contract should Manning get injured, or be unable to play..I would think the only big amount would be a huge signing bonus. The rest of the contract I would think would be performance based... So if he works out it is worth every penny. If not, we dump the contract.

I'm sure it isn't that simple.

first off moore will be 28 before season. was close to the bottom in y/a. guy was horrible last year. he came in and did nice job this year for us, hes a decent backup qb. but anyone who thinks hes anything more is a very uneducated fan

Letting Go of NT Phat Paul who services are no longer needed in Miami due to new 4-3 defense will save the Dolphins another 12 million dollars

QB Peyton Manning is expected to sign for about 12 million dollars w incentive based contract instead of the standard 18 million for a QB of his caliber

Y-Bell must be resigned all though a lil pricey at over 4 million dollars, Y-Bell is a defensive captain, hard hitting run stopping safety which is exactly what u need in a 4-3 defense

(2) stud CBs that can actually make plays consistently are available in the draft
one from Alabama who is EXCELLENT
and another with Cromartie like off field issues is also an Excellent CB that has only given up one pass his entire college career

Go Phins!

12 mill for manning, looooooooooool no way he cant even throw

Didn't say I "wanted" RGIII. But, if that's what happens...so be it. I can understand the logic of it and why they fans are clamoring for him. The kid is a talent, no doubt. But, I still think they go hard after Manning and see if he's worth the risk. If that falls through, then they'll see what they can do with a trade-up for RGIII. They're paid to seek every option and turn over every stone. It's all a gamble anyways.

Ok, I'll respond to Skyles (since I don't usually respond to chickenshyt trolls who can't post under the same name),

So, Skyles, when someone says IMO, it means IN MY OPINION. The rest of my post was reasoning which led me TO MY OPINION.

OF COURSE everything said about the Draft, FA is speculation (from me, any GM or Owner, any football columnist at a paper, every TV personality, etc.). That shouldn't need to be said, IT'S A GIVEN. As nothing has happened so far, all we can do is speculate.

However, there are things you can glean from history. For example, Miami hasn't drafted a 1st-rd QB since 1983. If I was a betting man, do you think I'd bet Miami taking a 1st-rd QB this year (even though they have a new FO)? Absolutely not (if I'm smart and know how to play the odds).

Well, historically, Cleveland does not like to part with their draft picks. That's what led to that opinion, that they were less likely to make a move for RG3.

Does that mean it WON'T happen (because I said so)? Nope. I don't give my opinion that much credibility, so not sure why you others think I'm voicing it as the word of God. If I was, I wouldn't have said, "IN MY OPINION."

You don't have to read the GM's mind to make an educated guess (based on other factors). The other factor I used was Cleveland has a ton of holes on their team. Getting RG3 would obviously mean they will lose chances to fill those other holes. That's a good reason NOT to make that move.

Everything I've said is pretty out in the open, not some scientifically-deduced insight. Any football watcher has the knowledge to make that deduction. It could be wrong, but that's why it's an opinion. Taking into account it's pure speculation, as I am not Nostradamus, I'm kind of stumped as to what the issue is with what I said.

If you disagree with the opinion, then fine, state why, and then it's a discussion piece for the blog. But it's kind of pointless to ask how someone can know something if they state in the very beginning of their post that what they are saying is solely based on their opinion.

I like HOME. Seriously. He's right.

course manning will be a fin in 2012, we never make the right move. griffin will roll washington to the playoffs

Knowing the Dolphins we will draft a lineman and possibly go after John Beck if he is available. That's how our front office rolls! HA

Bobby Griffin will probably go out injured like Pat White trying to run the football

Then u have NO football team at all and NO draft picks since u gave away four or five great picks to build your team to WIN (2) Super Bowls in three years w Peyton Manning and four or five great draft picks

Go Phins!

great picks, lol yeah like we have had for years and done nothing with

Home, you actually make a very good point today.

Trade down to 12-14 and get a 2nd rd and a 4th rder then draft Luke Kuechly or Dontari Poe 1st rd
then
2nd Brandon Weeden
with the traded 2nd rd pick get Trumaine Johnson or Stephon Gilmore.
Tommy Streeter in 3rd rd
4th Olivier Vernon
traded 4th Nate Potter/ Matt Reynolds / Tom Compton for the RG/RT position

From the back of a keyboard it is easy to say..Trade the farm. It is the only thing to do, and the only scenario I(I being unreasonable outerspace blogger) will accept. If we can aquire Griffen. I'm sure the deal will be very handsome, it will favor ST Louis as far asthe amount of players they can choose. If we do not...The price would be just too much. Will some of you be able to deal with this without throwing a tantrum?

Darryl Dunphy | February 29, 2012 at 10:51 AM

Darryl,

I'm not on board with trading away a significant part of our near future but would entertain the idea of selling away the 2012 draft for an RG3 scenario. I don't believe it would be to out of left field to conceive the idea of a team with a nucleus of players in or around 28 Yrs. old to mortgage one draft at the shot of landing a player with the upside and leadership qualities that Griffin brings to the table.

I really feel this kid will be special and comparisons to Vick ludicrous. Vick was an under achieving athlete who got by on his phenomenal talent. Griffin strikes me as the type of kid who will attempt to over achieve and lead by example you add his physical gifts and he could be the type of leader the Dolphins Organization has lacked in leading the Organization and players into taking it to the next level.

I often wondered if under Parcells drafting and signing players who were followers as opposed to leaders was by design so as to not have anybody ever question the team direction , YES SIR! NO SIR! MAY I PLEASE HAVE ANOTHER SIR! I often wonder IF Bush hadn't called out his teammates week 6 after the Tebow comeback IF they would have shown the same life in the week 7 game Vs. the Giants that they did before reeling off a few??

The FO seems to show apprehension and fear of these types of players (LEADERS) when in reality it's just what they need IMO. I remember in the Marino hey day how Danny use to tear teamates a new one after blowing plays or lacking effort and how most of the time they responded to him. You watch teams like the Saints and Pats and see this with their QB's (Team leaders) as well.

I'm all for a healthy Manning but would rather take a chance on Griffin being that player leading us into the 2022 Season and not just into maybe 2014. That being said I would even go as far as entertaining the idea of trading Jake Long with just my 1st Rd. pick this Yr. for Robert Griffin, I feel that strongly that he will be a player to be reckoned with for the next decade and longer.

I'm not that worried about Cleveland when it comes to trading up for RGIII. It's Washington I'd be worried about. Cleveland has a million holes on their roster and FA's aren't beating down the door to go there. I really can't see them selling the farm for RGIII. As good as the kid is, he's get killed there next year. Washington?....totally different story. Agressive owner, pretty good defence, offensive minded head coach, FAs will go there, especially with the cap space they have. Washington is the team we will have to outbid if we want RGIII. Let's make certain we're in this thing.

hilarious yeah beer lets take all those garbage miami players in the draft , come on

dusty, who knows, maybe Ross and Ireland are sick of hearing that we never make the right move (historically) at QB. Maybe they want to be the ones to FINALLY make the right move.

fin4life,

Your posts are getting longer and longer bud....

Makes it hard to read.

lets hope dc, would turn this franchise around. stadium would be full again

Gotta run fellas....been fun!

Why go after a qb that can't throw today and doesn't know if he can throw tomorrow? Favre would be better than PM at this point.

Skyles/trolls,

I point you to Craig M's post at 11:50am. Pretty much made every point I made in my earlier post. If you know anything about this blog, you'd know that Craig and I only agree on the fact that we disagree about almost everything.

So, how did two posters, with 2 TOTALLY different viewpoints, come to the same conclusion (IN THEIR OPINION) about Cleveland?

I'll tell you how, because if you have even a basic intelligence, and you watch football, it's not that hard to make some connections, which then lead you to form certain opinions. Doesn't mean you're speaking as if you know EXACTLY, 100% what will happen. It's because you're making an EDUCATED GUESS!!

Welcome to the world of using your head. Any more questions?

Sometimes Home actually goes back and talks Miami Dolphin and NFL football

Seriously
Home knows what his team needs and can get now, which is QB Peyton Manning and his Center Jeff Saturday
Then u can move Pouncey to guard where he even plays better
with o-lineman Murtha healthy the Dolphns would then have a damn good o-line to protect Peyton Manning

If MVP Pro Bowler Peyton could then throw to:
MVP Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall
Reggie Wayne (who is available cheap and has 11 yrs w Peyton and excellent body language change play at the LOS communication)
Reggie Bush
Simply The Bess
Brian Hartline
Fasano
Clay

Home thinks we will def be Super Bowl FAV and talk of the NFL every week

Go Phins!

I hope they keep Bell. I'd think they would already have that done seeing how we already need a FS why create another hole in the DB

Look at numbers Cam Newton put up during his first year at Carolina, grant they didnt win much but his numbers were good. At least Carolina knows that they have something they can build around. If were going to lose which we are next year lets lose 38 to 45.

Now if we could get 6.5 receiving TE Greg Olsen

Home thinks (3) TEs

Fasano
Olsen

FB/TE Clay

would be a huge upgrade as Clay will emerge to be a star in this league and Olsen runs great routes and has sure hands

Remember two years ago TE Greg Olsen scored (3) TDs in one game when targeted!

Go Phins!

well both our safeties suck. and smith sucks at corner. secondary we def need

Home STFU and go back to the Sentinel, Im sick of reading your posts in 3rd persom.

About Home says Home needs to eat a dik!

Craig M,

I'm not trying to pull a let me show my big brain thing just went off on a rant there about the Dolphins and there yes men ways of recent Yrs. I think a born Brees like leader is the type we need and Griffin worth the risk not that Manning ain't but 3 Yrs as opposed to 10 or longer is worth the risk. For the sake of simply humoring an old bud, read it and give me your opinion and I'll keep it under 1,000 for you in the future Bro.

BeerPhin

Home says, " Dolphins def keep Y-Bell"

his role as a run stopping safety is sooooo important in the newly implemented 4-3 defense

which is def Y-Bells strong point - Hard hitting run stopping safety & defensive captain

dusty, Smith does not suck in our secondary, its only when he plays against great WR when he struggles. Which makes him not elite

no way goon, we get griffin we will start winning games more than losing right away

disagree goon, smith couldnt cover u

tradeseansmith.com he cannot cover anyone Big WRs, TEs, or small quick WRs

sean smith was rated one of the worst starting CBs in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus

last year the follies of sean smith posing as a CB and dropping a record 12 interceptions went down as actual pass deflections even though he tried to catch every one and deflect none, so his rating was inaccurately higher

Now sean smith has been exposed as Home has known for 3 years now and has been blogging about this dismal Fraud Poser Boy CB

tradeseansmith.com

dusty, no one can cover me, if it wasnt for my knee i'll be in the league. Smith is decent, and griffin still has a learing curve coming into the Nfl. So we'll lose

If Jenoris Jenkins drops into Rd.3 we should take the flyer, the rookie cap and draft position would make the gamble worth it. I saw this kid at UF his Fr. Yr. and believe me this guy if he can stay clean will be an NFL PLAYER!!

sean smith doing nothing but being the weakest link on defense has played for three years and now in his third year was rated one of the absolute worst CBs in the NFL

Dolphins record w sean smith

3 HUMILIATING LOSING SEASONS IN ROW

tradeseansmith.com

Agree with dusty on Bell. We can slide one of 2 FS on the team already to SS, and fill the hole for getting rid of him. But how long are you going to keep seeing him put his hand in the air, and the ball go over it right into the receiver's hand? Aren't you people sick of seeing that (almost every game)? Don't you understand this is a passing league, and the need for a Safety who can tackle (and that's it) is kind of pointless? ESPECIALLY if our front 7 is the teeth of our defense (therefore, negating the need for a Safety who's single purpose is to tackle).

You stick with a younger player (i.e. Jerry) to see if they can develop to the player you want. But you don't keep sticking with a guy who has one foot in retirement because you're scared of change, after seeing year after year that he has a glaring weakness. That's a perfect way to stay mediocre.

Time to stop putting a bandaid on the QB position. Pay your dues, anti up & get RGIII.

What you sacrafice in the draft the next(2-3) years you will gladly trade in for what RGIII can bring for the 10-12 years after that.

With Ireland at the helm, I fully expect this team to draft a RT instead.

DC Dolfan

Perhaps u dont understand how a 4-3 defense works

We no longer need our way over priced 12 million dollar NT Phat Paul

In the 4-3 defense a run stopping safety is the most important skill of the safety. not pass coverage.

There will essentially be 3 DBs covering the pass, not Y-Bell

So Home finds u ignorant and incorrect on your above post

Please do your homework on the 4-3 defense and come back when u can speak intelligently

Are you always this sensitive?

So if two bloggers that don't normally agree suddenly agree, that means what exactly? I don't know really.

Yeah, have any opinion you want. What do I know. We know (even idiots like me) that GM's don't show their cards and are more likely to do the unexpected. So to have an opinion about what someone who has communicated nothing will do seems far fetched to me. You can guess, maybe that would have been a better word.

In a nutshell, I reacted because it seems like everyone is drawing conclusions based on nothing but pre draft media gossip when in reality everyone, even the reporters, is in the dark. There is nothing in print about any team that can be taken seriously. Maybe the Rams don't even want to trade the pick unless they get an unheard of ransom.

IMO the only way we get a chance at RG3 is this: Manning goes to Washington, Flynn goes to Cleveland. If that happens, now the Browns are the ones that would be in interesting trade partner. They would have their QB plus be able to stock pile picks. They could come out of this draft with two 1's this year and two 1's next year plus. Likley wont happen but if Im the Browns its something to at least explore!

silk we can get griffin if we want to, its simple just offer more than cleve, wash, sea, and kc are

Home, have you heard we're DEFINITELY going to a 4-3? Because I haven't. By the way, do you know that when someone says they run this or that defense, they mean as a BASE defense? And they may play in that less than 50% of the time? That many teams (like Miami) play in both the 3-4 AND 4-3?

Also, if you look at other teams who used that defense (say the NY Giants), they got CLOBBERED in the air, since their secondary stunk. Why? Because this has become a pass-first league, and you don't need to stop the run as much.

So I find you EXTREMELY outdated in your knowledge of how football is played today.

MVP QB Peyton Manning WILL be a Miami Dolphin in 2012

the rest is conversation

The reason why elite left tackles are so prized in the NFL is because they protect the quarterback's blind spot. We all saw how Columbo had trouble on his side. Imagine that happening on the left side with an average left tackle. You wouldn't have your franchise quarterback too long.

I'd take Long/ Weeden and all our picks over Murtha/ RGIII and no picks all day
