Brandon Marshall in another nightclub fracas

Something happened at the Chelsea nightclub that has Brandon Marshall again at the heart of a legal problem and perhaps in the sights of the NFL's personal conduct policy.

More details are necessary but if you trust the New York Post account, Marshall apparently punched a woman at 4 a.m. Monday after he was kicked out of the Marquee Club. The report says Marshall was involved in a fight with another football player who were thrown out.

Christin Myles then headed out of the club and allegedly got punched by Marshall who meant to to hit someone else.

Marshall's lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, released a statement that does not specifically address the allegation that Marshall hit anyone.

"On March 12, 2012 Brandon Marshall was the keynote speaker at a charitable event in New York. After the event was over he, his wife and close friends attended a function at a local club. While at the function a fight broke out NOT involving Mr. Marshall or his friends. While attempting to leave to avoid the melee Mrs. Marshall was struck in the face by a thrown bottle. She suffered serious injury.

While attempting to leave and take his wife to the hospital, the mayhem continued outside. Finally Mr. Marshall was able to take his wife to the hospital where she was treated for serious injuries. Mr. MArshall is hoping to assist authorities in regards to this matter."

Some thoughts:

1. Obviously there was a ton of criticism of the Dolphins Tuesday for trading Marshall to the Bears for two third-round picks considering he cost the team two second-round picks only two years ago. If, and I stress if, the Dolphins knew of Marshall's most recent trouble then it wasn't such a terrible trade. If the Dolphins were ignorant about the fight, then it is fair to say they gave Marshall away in desperation.

2. Conversely, if the Bears knew of Marshall's most recent trouble, they made a gamble move for what seems like a relatively fair price for an Alpha wide receiver that is troubled. If they made the move not knowing of the allegations, they must have thought they ripped off the Dolphins.

3. If the Bears did not know, the possibility of whether this trouble could cause the Bears to request a cancellation of the trade must be addressed. Doesn't mean the Bears will definitely want to cancel the trade, but until they say one way or another, it is an issue.

[Update: Bears GM Phil Emery released a statement on Brandon Marshall: "Both the Bears and Dolphins were aware of what occurred over the weekend. We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear]

The trade stands.

4. That long-ago acquisition of Marshall? The one meant to "get the team over the top?" It failed to do what it was meant to accomplish. The move will go down in Dolphins history as a reach and a gamble and just another example of the team not being able to identify, draft and develop its own players, thus causing them to have to go outside for players with questionable histories (conduct) or situations (health).

5. I admit that after being vehemently against the Marshall acquisition in 2010 (check the archives) and even calling for his trade at least twice, I warmed to Marshall late last season. I felt sympathy for his Borderline Personality Disorder struggle. I also wanted to believe his recent commitment to attending church might be positive for him. Well, I was fooled.

6. If he is suspended, whatever team that has his rights -- the Bears if the trade sticks, the Dolphins if he returns -- will have the right to dock $6 million from his $9.3 million salary in 2012. That per the contract he signed with Miami in 2010.

7. This trade was obviously and clearly NOT a move meant as the first shoe dropping on the acquisition of Peyton Manning. Had NOTHING to do with potentially acquiring Manning. Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

8. Yesterday I asked a source why this Marshall trade. "Be patient. You'll see," was the answer. Now we see.

MATT MOORE IS A BACK-UP QB FOLKS! A B A C K - U P.

Looks like Flynn is trying to get the Dolphins attention.

Dolphins are trying to resign Soliai but he is visiting Denver today.

Only dolphin news on twitter as we speak

Trading away the 4 TD MVP of the Pro Bowl Marshall, who always demands double coverage and the best player on the entire Miami Dolphins team for (1) 3rd round pick in 2012 and one next year IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS
UNLESS PEYTON AGREED TO A DEAL W THE DOLPHINS THAT MANDATED MARSHALL B GONE!

Moore isn't leading Our franchise to any playoffs or any Super Bowl.He didn't EARN the job. Ineffectual henne, unfortunately got injured.Matt's stats say more about Our offensive players than to his abilities to lead. a BACK-UP!

NOBODY IS GOING TO BUY TICKETS TO WATCH FLYNN THROW TO AVERAGE WRs in MIAMI

DOLPHINS R DONE UNLESS PEYTON IS SIGNED

WHO........ CARES.

What's the news on candidates to replace him? QB offers? Flynn or Manning saga? Where are we today on things that matter?

Yeah guys please stop with the Matt Moore stuff already. No direct shot at you Craig M but the guy is not a long term or short term fix. He is a back up and a stop gap for a rookie at best. But in no shape or form is he the Dolphins answer.

Moore plays a gunslinger style of play and accuracy and timing does not seem to be his strengths as a player. If you want an efficient WC offense then Matt Moore is not a fit. I'd rather have Kyle Orton in a WC offense then Moore and NOOO I don't want Orton either.

Armando...

I agree...apperantly the trade had NOTHING to do with the aquisition...or lak therof...of a one Peyton Manning....

I WAS DEAD WRONG ON THAT ONE...

Andy,

We'll have to agree to disagree. I see nothing in Flynn that is a CLEAR upgrade over Moore. Moore played very well last year, finishing down the stretch 6-3. By no means am I saying Moore is a franchise QB but I don't see Flynn as being that either. I'm not a big fan of throwing crazy money at Flynn and handing him the job and then we're not any further along.

I heard you say that 'Moore is a backup'. That's pretty much how I se Flynn too. Even if he's a top 15 QB, that's not going to get it done. It's not progress.

Morning Home, where you been? It's f ucking Wednesday and still no Manning in an aqua and orange jersey! What's up with that? Need some hope pal.

You gotta think the Dolphins must think they still have a chance at Manning. Do they know something we don't?

acorns. 9:42.
lmao.

Brandon Marshall DID NOTHING WRONG AND WAS NOT CHARGED WITH ANYTHING

Once again Armando and the media r reporting false BS!

This is one version of the story which is an absolute lie

Truth is, ...

Marshall's wife was running her mouth and got bashed w a bottle

Has nothing to do w Brandon

The trade warrants a firing of Ireland
Unless as Home has stated ;)

"MVP QB Peyton Manning WILL be a Miami Dolphin in 2012"

Hey what about trading up with the draft picks from this trade and our first and drafting Justin blackmon?

So last night O. Kelly reported we were negotiating with Flynn's agent or gathering info for negotiations later. This is to be able to move fast in case they don't land Manning. They were gauging what it would take to sign Flynn.

With that said the Miami brass must be in wait mode for Manning since there has been no movement for Flynn since last night.

If Seattle signs Matt Flynn and we lose out on Tannehill to the Browns with the 4th pick then we are looking at Weeden next. The QB's after Weeden all have questions but are Foles, Cousins (he's working out today) and Osweiler.

Or they could just stick wit the status quo which would be very very disappointing to me.

When I heard we traded Marshall for cheap I thought wow, they're clearing cap space for Manning and R Wayne, P Garcon, and co. But then, Wayne resigns with the Colts and Garcon signs with the Skins. WTF?? Is Manning coming or what? If he isnt, trading our only playmaker, a 3 time all-pro. was insane. B Marshall is a potential HOFer if he has a decent QB. What the heck are the Dolphin idiots doing? What a friggin laughingstock!

Craig M,

Fact Moore was 6-6 overall, forget how he finished. Miami feasted on bad teams and we all know that. I don't know if Flynn is the answer either but he would give me a whole lot more optimism knowing Philbin's system and coming in knowing what he is doing. The guy had ONLY 2 games but he flourished in those 2 games. He did have a whole lot more offensive firepower but he did his job.

I agree at the right price. I don't think Kolb money and $50 M is what he gets. Everyone keeps saying this but I don't see it. He will get starters money but I don't think it will be an asinine contract like Kolb's was.

In the end Miami isn't getting Peyton and I guarantee that! They might not get Flynn either with him going to Seattle for a visit so this argument might be pointless. But with Miami needing a new QB, win games and sell tickets they have to make some sort of drastic move at some point.

He hit a woman accidently...Believe it or not, given how his wife was seriously injured, I could easily see where anyone would be upset and throwing a punch as a result to defend his wife's honor possibly. Unfortunately the punch landed on the lady that somehow got between Marshall and whoever he was intending to strike. Very unfortunate for all parties involved.

The reason We wouldn't be further along is that is a new offensive phylosophy. So basically, they're both starting at same level Crag M.After a full season Flynn maybe ranked higher than Moore was this year.Let's give Flynn a shot.We were smart enough not to pay the RG3 ransom.Discarded a cancerous playmaker.Moves to me that bode-well.We sucked last year.We were 0-7 at mid-season.Changes is MUCH NEEDED.

Keep The Faith Dolfans

Think 4 yourselves

We did not give up the 4 TD MVP of the Pro Bowl because his wife got hit in the mouth w a bottle by a crazy fool

We freed up much needed cap money to sign Peyton

Reggie Wayne was made a great big $ offer by the Colts that he could not refuse

Keep The Faith

Peyton is coming to Miami!

Why not? Cause you say so or the politically correct say so? People are entitled to live their life. He had given a speech at a benefit & went to a party with his wife afterwards?
Oh the horror of it all! Giving a speech at a benefit event, what a misfit he is!
Have you never gone out & been out late? How much trouble was the guy looking for attending with his wife? For god sakes! You guys will say or do anything to justify the stupid move the phins made.
Try going out & having a good time. Then remember to set your alarm to make sure you're out of the place at a proper time!
Criticizing how people lives their lives & what they do is beyond sad. Sounds to me like you need to get out more!

When you are making millions of dollars to play a game and that profession is being jepordized (as well as hurting your team by getting suspensions) by your personal life (mulitple issues w. hitting females, DUI, etc) AND you have some generic 'personality disorder' which lends you to behave in a certain way, it would seem wise to avoid situations that might cause further problems with your employer. THIS IS WHAT AN ADULT WOULD DO. Eliminate any possiblities of further problems. I'm sure his agent as well as the team has suggested this to him in the past. A nightclub at 4am would be considered a potentially high risk situation, wife or not. Again, his wife will not be hit w. a beer bottle in the eye at 4am if they were at home in bed. Obviously, BM has not learned his lesson. If this situation is proven to be true, BM will be suspended. He has no one to blame but himself. His new teammates will have to now bear the burden of his poor decision making. If BM wants to spend every night at a club...his decision, he has that right....but he will not last very long in the league. Ask Pac-man Jones.

Andy and Craig -- IMO humble as it might be, I don't know much about Flynn except the 2 games. he really only played 1 full season in college too. So I don't know much as there isn't much to go on. Moore on the other hand I feel is backup QB material. He is a good BU and would be a nice filler while the starter was out but he is not the answer full time. That is IMHO in case you wanted to know. :)

The dolphins are in a tough situation. I believe they know that Manning is the only player out there that will immediately get them out of the RED by selling tickets and all the hype he brings.

AndyNJ,

I don't disagree with anything you've said about at 10:47am. I'm just saying, I'm not sure it's the end of the world if this team misses out on Flynn. I think you've got this guy on a whole different level than me, based on two games and having familiarity with Philbin's system and that's fine because we all need some optimism right now. In my opinion, the difference between Flynn and Moore is miniscule and I don't want to see them throwing unecessary money at Flynn just 'do to something drastic'. I'll be just as happy if it's Moore and Weedon next year.

Sounds like Brandon needs to reevaluate his choice for a wife.
Is this not the same woman who STABBED him last year?
...Now she's mouthing off in an ally @ 4am with broken bottles involved!

Run Brandon...run for the exits and get yourself a new woman!

DOLPHINS WIN ON THIS TRADE REGARDLESS OF THE FIGHT..
MARSHALL IS A HEAD CASE AND NOT RELIABLE. 2 PICKS FOR HIM IS A GOOD JOB....

SPEAKING FOR THE BLOG,

If you want to post with the big boys, why don't you come out from hiding behind some fake name. That way we can all take you seriously. Sorry you have a problem with people expressing their opinions. Maybe a BLOG just isn't for you.

Might be time to calm down and take more of your meds...

WR Robinson had 11 TDs last season and ONLY STARTED in 3 games!
Robinson is not a Diva Receiva

WR Brandon Marshall had 6 TDs last season, dropped 7 TD passes and was a 6 Million Dollar hit against the cap
Marshall is a Diva Receiva

Home thinks Peyton said, "Trade away Marshall, he has too many mental problems and I can get it done w a suitable replacement WR

Dolphins NEEDED to free up the money

"MVP QB Peyton Manning WILL be a Miami Dolphin in 2012"

As a Dolphan, I would be content with Manning or Flynn as Our FA qb acquisition. Then onto the draft.
Oh yeah,a FA offensive lineman goes without saying.

Lions just signed WR Calvin Johnson on a seven-year, $132 million extension that includes $60 million guaranteed. The richest contract ever. WOW!!

FLH, are you a part of the morality police or something? You sound almost too righteous.

No matter what you say, people are entitled to live their lives how they want. Not how you think they should.

You or people who are thinking like you, are not Jesus Christ. People are not obligated to live their lives in your footsteps on in your perfect view of how they should live.

Get over your snooty selves!

Craig M,

I'm not sure where to put Flynn but like I said before if Philbin says Flynn is good enough to be his QB then I am all for it. Philbin would essentially be tying his NFL head coaching career to Flynn. I don't think he willing to sacrifice his career on a guy on the same level as Matt Moore. If Flynn is a failure then we all know that Philbin doesn't have an eye for talent and it will be onto the next Head Coach in 2014 or 2015.

Yeah, Coffee Talk w Home.I've also thought Manning can get it done with other WRs. Yes, some hope.Thank you, homie!

Dolphin Georgia,

Yeah but with a guy like Calvin Johnson you don't have to worry about anything. He is professional and a throw back player. What I mean by throw back is he carries himself with class, he can speak in complete sentences and he works just as hard as he plays by all accounts. He deserves it and it is money well spent.

Andy,

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you. I just think the same thing could be accomplished with Weedon or even Kolb.

You said the 'team needs to do something drastic'. That's my fear. They do something stupid and they're tied to a guy who we're not even sure can do the job. I think we'd both agree that this team just got weaker on the field with the Marshall trade. So now the QB has that to deal with too. It's not going to be an easy task whoever gets the job and I don't see or want a quick fix.

AndyNJ,
Totally agree. Megatron is a beast. He totally deserves it.

I would like to see us sign Winston today. Would be nice to see Miami make some moves to improve the team. Robinson too for that matter.

Folks, please don't snivel cause marshall was traded away.It needed to happen to achieve Our ultimate goal.To win Super Bowls. It wasn't going to happen with brandon.WIPE YOUR NOSES!

Guys, regarding what it takes to trade up in rd 1, I believe the old value chart may be outdated, easpecially since the rookie cap.

Craig M,

Yeah I phrased that wrong. The word drastic was too heavy, agreed.

Marshall in unreliable in every aspect. Emotionally he has a mental disorder. On the field he drops to many passes and socially he can't interact with women without assaulting them. This was addition by subtraction even if short term it hurts.

Best of luck Brandon Marshall.

If Manning truely doesn't want to play in Miami why hasn't Miami been eliminated? Is is because Miami is willing to give Manning the largest contract? It seems to me Manning is just using the Dolphins. If the Dolphins don't care they are being used and want to this all play out, then fine.

But if they lose out on Flynn (and IF they like Flynn) because they are waiting on a Manning decision, then we have a MAJOR problem!

U r all kidding yourselves, what kid of speech was BM giving at 4 in the morning at a Chelsea bar. I don't think that the audience for the speech was toast master's legitimate organization. The speech, if he was giving one, ended long ago, previous to the incident. So the speech is supercilious to what happened. You say the BM should be able to do what he wants, and I concur with limits. This guy has had runins with the law, been involve in a murder, been stabbed by his wife, has been accused of violence against women on several occasions, so yes being at a bar at 4 in the morning shows extreme lack of judgement. As a public person he is held at a much higher standard than you and I considering his past. I tell my 20 year old son nothing good happens at 2 in the morning, much less at 4 in the morning. Something happened in that bar, it may not have been started by him, but someone was hurt by him wether on purpose or not. So please don't write that he can do as he please, if he does, he's going to have to face the consequences. I work in a highly regulated industry, if I'm arrested for DUI I will be fired, no questions asked. So BM should be aware that his actions will have consequences.

WELL ALL KNOW THAT I WAS ALL IN FOR GETTING BRANDON TO MIAMI.

I STILL FEEL HE SHOULD BE ON THE TEAM.

ARMANDO SAID HE YELLED AT HENNE.

OH POOR HENNE. MAN THE F UP.

IF YOU SEE DREW, BRADY OR PAYTON YELL THEY're BEING LEADERS.

THEY WANT TO WIN.

OWENS, MOSS OR BRANDON YELL THEY ARE TROUBLE MAKERS.

IS IT A DOUBLE STANDARD OR WHAT.

WELL IT SHOULDN'T BE.

TO GET ON THE SAME PAGE PEOPLE THINK THE QB IS THE AUTOMATIC LEADER.

EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO THE QB.

HOWEVER IF I'M PLACING MYSELF AND LIFE IN HARMS WAY I HAVE SAY SO.

IF THE SAFTY IS OVER THE TOP THEN THE QB SHOULD BE ABLE TO PUT THE BALL IN A SPOT WHERE I CAN CATCH IT AND NOT GET KILLED.

IF THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN AND I GET HURT AND ENDS MY ABILTY TO PLAY THEN WHAT.

NO ONE WOULD CARE.

I would like to see us sign Winston today. Would be nice to see Miami make some moves to improve the team. Robinson too for that matter.

Agree Texas Dolfan, Both would be Very Good signings

Let's hope GM Ireland gets it done

is the receiver from Cowboys still available?

The funny part is, CraigM RARELY posts opinions. He's too busy reminding people of what he said over n over for months! Scolding people for having differing opinions.

NEVER has anything new or original to say! Always the same! Perfect example; he went out of his way to remind people how he feels about Kolb! Why? A Broken friggin record! NOBODY CARES!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does he find it necessary to remind people of what he says? What kind of super human ego does he have that he feels people need to remember him?

We'll be fine. You're all poor excuses for phins fans. Ireland isn't all bad. Craig's favorite talking points!

How will you react if this or that happens? How would you feel about Ireland combing my arm hair? Who is he trying to be, Jenny Jones or Maury Povich?

Craig M, YOU ARE a total bore. I'm like you, repetitive & annoying! START posting opinions for a change & stop acting like Jerry Springer! Your image here might improve!

AndyNJ,

Agree with everything you said at 11:11 am.

No Balls, I don't believe losing out on Flynn and Manning is the end of the world. I'd be totally content with Moore and Orton or Moore and Weedon or to even draft Tannehill. IMO, Flynn isn't the guy who is going to lead this team to the playoffs and for that reason I wouldn't overpay for him. If he wanted to come here at a reasonable contract while a guy like Tannehill develops or we draft a QB next year, then fine but I'm not going to lose any sleep if we don't get him.

Cowboys WR Robinson who scored 11 TDs (5 more than B-Marsh) last season even though only being named a starter in 3 games is in talks to become a Miami Dolphin WR. Details r being worked out.

Go Phins!

SPEAKING FOR THE BLOG,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts bud. We're all the more wiser for it. Guess what, if you don't like itm don't read it....pretty simple. But you're not going to go around censoring what people say. Nobody gave you that job.

Have fun....

Flynn simply WILL NOT sell out our stadium and more than likely will not be as good as Matt Moore, but a colossal waste of big money

"MVP QB Peyton Manning WILL be a Miami Dolphin in 2012"

Georgia,

See that's what I want to get back to having classy players who work hard at their craft to be the best and know how to carry themselves on and off the field.

The guys who impressed me the most and at this point are my favorite Dolphins are Cam Wake and Reggie Bush.

Cam Wake was an incomplete player when he signed on with Miami. He had 1 move and was horrible against the run and in the open field (remember getting juked by the jets punter). But he worked hard and has gotten better and better and is slowly becoming a complete player. His sack numbers were down but not his doing. He has his moments where taller players get the better of him (Nate Solder) but he is all out effort and works to get better. Not to mention he hasn't publically complained about a contract extension. He just works hard.

Reggie Bush was a specialty player, 3rd down back, change of pace back. He worked hard last preseason. He worked harder then any player on the roster. He was first guy to practice and last to leave, whether catching balls or running with weights. He earned every bit of his contract and once they used him properly he was a very good player. He carries himself the right way on and off the field and I appreciate that.

I don't know Joe Philbin but the way he carries himself so far and coming from GB a guy like Marshall was a guy he doesn't want to win with.

For years Washington won the FA battle in March and never won anything during the season. This move I would think is part of other moves. Remember it's just day 2 of free agency.

Hey JUSTIN CREDIBLE aren't you the guy or person who also says that chump chad will lead some other team to the playoffs and super bowl? It is you right that thinks well of ineffectual henne, right?
Yet even you know that chump chad DOESN'T MAN UP.DIDN'T HERE.WON'T ESLEWHERE!
