I'm not a big Brock Osweiler proponent. He reminds me of Dan McGwire who was a good college quarterback but never made it in the pros. I guess you can understand the comparison because Osweiler, at 6-foot-7 and 242 pounds, is built like McGwire.
The Dolphins, however, are doing their homework and that work includes the former Arizona State quarterback. Nothing against the kid, but I don't like his mechanics, I don't necessarily love his mobility and his accuracy is inconsistent.
Oswelier has been addressing his mechanics since the end of the college season.
"It's more over-the-top now," Osweiler said of a revamped throwing motion. "I was kind of always dragging my elbow when I was playing here at ASU, and we really wanted to utilize my full 6-7 frame, or whatever it is, and make sure the arm and delivery is over-the-top."
Osweiler, who seems like a third-round talent to me, will go on multiple private workouts for several NFL franchises including the Dolphins.
"I'm meeting with the Chiefs and the Broncos next week and I'm taking trips to Miami and Buffalo and a few other places," he said.
During his workout today -- attended by Dolphins brass, including general manager Jeff Ireland -- Osweiler competed 66 of 75 passes with seven overthrows and one dropped pass, according to ASUDevils.com.

DC was being sarcastic I hope.
Has anyone reminded me what happened when Tamnehill faced the great RG3 mano a mano?
Posted by: Timmy Couch | March 31, 2012 at 11:55 AM
GM Ireland, please don't trade up to get Tannehill. If he is there at 8, then take him if you think he is worth it. Clevaland is not going to take him at 4, unless they are stupied. Again that's why they are Clevland. Clevelan should get WR Blackmon to give thier QB a weapon.
Posted by: KaseyTiger | March 31, 2012 at 11:58 AM
Is that what you meant when you said he GOT 3 HOF QB's. Did you forget David Woodly, Rick Norton Gary Cuazzo, Scott Mitchell???????????
Posted by: Mike | March 31, 2012 at 12:01 PM
All this talk about picking Tannehill with the 8th pick is making me want to upchuck my lunch. Doesn't anyone realize we need a receiver? Listen here's what the Dolphins need to do with the 8th pick, take Michael Floyd from Notre Dame. He's big and physical, has great hands and has speed. He more than fills the need. Then with your 2nd round pick you take OSU's Brandon Weedon. Before you all start screaming that he's 28. Look at his numbers. He can play. No one screamed that Flynn was 26. If Weedon can come in and give you 9 years of quality play, then you'd be a fool not to take him.

It seems Ross is quite content to wallow in the cellar rather then make the changes and spend the money to build a winner.

you guys are getting this wrong the experts on TV dont need a Q/B they aren't over valuing tannehill. they say tannehill is first round Talent because he is just that.
Posted by: Jeff Row | March 31, 2012 at 01:09 PM
"Linebacker Philip Wheeler, who visited with the Dolphins last weekend, agreed to a one-year deal with Oakland on Friday night. Wheeler tweeted Thursday that he had a tough choice to make between the Dolphins and Raiders, then tweeted later that ''Raider Nation'' showed him "love."
If Wheeler had signed with Miami, he would have had a decent chance to beat out Koa Misi. Instead, the Dolphins will look for linebacker depth during the second wave of free agency, or during the draft."
Why should Ireland worry about signing players to compete this year??? He should just keep building through the draft with "high character" guys like Merling, Misi, & Vontae Davis or keep trading your draft picks for leaders on & off the field like Brandon Marshall.
We just went 6-10 so I really don't understand where all the negative criticism from the fans & media are coming from??? I'm sure Steven Ross is right when he said that season ticket sales will REALLY pick up after the draft....LMFAO!!!
Posted by: We Have Draft Picks | March 31, 2012 at 01:16 PM
i'm not saying tannehill is top 10 ..more like top 25 ... but we have the 8th pick... theres no such thing as over value with the new CBA because 1st round picks dont make as much as they used to. If they wanna get funny and think they can slide down some picks and pick up a extra pick in the 2nd or 3rd and still get tannehill , good luck but some other team that values him might trade down after they see that we have done that and steal him from us.. (all this is useless if the dolphins brass dont want him at all though).. we do have alot of needs on this team so trading down and getting tannehill might be a option that way we can still get our D/e's and W/r's and O/L with two 2's and two 3's and 4th round picks

Jeff Row, those experts on TV also had Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf and many other total busts as first rounders too.
Those experts are experts in gossip only. They know nothing.
Posted by: Route 78 | March 31, 2012 at 01:41 PM
I think Ireland should review Kellen Moore if he is so desperate to hire an additional QB prospect for this season. In the name of due dilligence. Besides we DolFANS are passionate enough to deserve such a courtesy, right??? He may very well become the next Drew Brees. Or maybe not, but at least he will not cost DolFANS a first round pick.

Why would we trade up to get anyone but Justin Blackmon? But nobody is talking about that because we apparently aren't starving for a wide receiver like megatron.....and I'll tell u this, If we draft how it looks like we will draft and not even think to take a wr in the first three rounds then screw this team.
He should admit that he doesn't know osweiler much because he doesn't, just like he doesn't know Kirk cousins much, because anyone watching him knows he will be terrible as an nfl qb.

I am probably older (younger of mind spirit) than you and can teleport back to the golden hued days of the grand ORANGE BOWL that sat on the shores of beautiful Bay Biscayne. Hers was a grandeur borne of Depression and Franklin Roosvelt's bold plan of recovery erected by men toiling in the tropic torpor. Then, her true glory was revealed when our beloved DOLPHINS rose from the depths of obscurity to reign over the NFL with combined fury and grace but always intelligence and compassion for their deflated and dispirited foes. Oh, the heart and mind soars with the memory of golden Autumn afternoons. Victors! One can still hear the crackle and green swirls on the Poly Turf with majestic thunderheads massing in the west making their inexorable march to the sea!

Off topic...
The more I read and hear about the arrest regarding Misi the more it looks apparent that his supposed victim who wasn't pressing any charges after the incident figured he'd get himself a payday from an NFL player. Witnesses say the guy was verbally taunting Koa and a female companion from a balcony before Misi kicked in his door a socked him one. The police who've now charged him with serious bodily injury apparently didn't think the injuries were serious enough at the time to make an arrest on the scene.
I've been around enough of these to know that IF there is someone with an injury requiring medical attention the police regardless of whether the victim presses charges or not always makes an arrest of the supposed aggressor charging him with assault regardless. It's also very interesting that a year after the incident the Santa Clara, California State attorney's office didn't issue a Court Summons to appear but had the Broward Sheriff's office make an arrest, unusual protocol .
I usually don't defend the actions of alot of these man children with big pocket books but everything about this story reeks!! This isn't Merling or Marshall going at their wives. This is a kid who from all accounts was defending a female friend and himself from racial taunts. Misi may not have met expectations on the field up until now but in having actually met him at the Davie facility he always seems an even tempered nice kid. Hopefully given alot of the evidence here it will be seen for the shakedown it seems to be.

Tannehill is no more than a poor man’s Chad Henne
Colossal mistake picking up this rookie at # 8, who will be another below average NFL QB and another wasted first round draft pick
Fish fans need to deal w the fact that QB Mat Moore was rated number 12 in the 2011 NFL
There is now (key word being “now”) no one else worth picking up since GM failure Jeffrey already wasted 3 1/2 million dollars on Garrard
(25 INTs & 15 Fumbles in his last 30 games) as our highest paid QB.
Home hates the Garrard move by Jefferey, but now we have to live w it
QB Moore to start QB Garrard to back up and the next below average QB doesn’t matter cuz it is not worth developing another scrub

Luke Kuechly LB Boston college would be a great pick because he is a gamer and makes play after play after play
Someone has to stop the 2012 NFLs Best QB in the Red Zone Tim Tebow

actually it was 2011 NFLs Best QB in the Red Zone Tim Tebow
only (2) Playoff games for QB Tebow were in 2012
the Steelers where Tebow threw for over 300 YDs and
the Pats where Tebow threw for over 300 YDs and rushed for (2) TDs himself

The facts aren't in regarding everything! There is a law in California which I wish existed in the whole F'n Country which states, that IF someone assaults your wife or female companion with what are deemed offensive verbal assaults or fighting words you are within your rights to defend yourself with physical force, period!! If the supposed victim hadn't gone beyond the scope when the police arrived then why was Misi allowed to walk??
I ask you Jay and Tim why if the victim had serious bodily injury the police didn't arrest Misi on the spot!! I've been around a few in my day and a drop of blood or the presence of paramedics is an automatic assault charge regardless!! This took place over a year ago, I actually remember the story and it being pretty much dismissed back then, so why a full year after the fact this arrest if it isn't basically a shakedown??
