Dolphins make the cut for Peyton Manning

The Miami Dolphins have made the cut for Peyton Manning. He will visit with the Dolphins as one of three or four teams he'll talk to before he decides where he will continue his apparent Hall of Fame career.

It's unclear when specifically Manning will meet with the Dolphins. According to three NFL sources and a report from the Denver Post, Manning will be meeting with the Denver Broncos today or tonight, depending on whom one believes. The Post cited an unnamed source saying Manning would be in Denver this evening.

Within the last hour, I've been told by three people associated with the NFL that Manning could be meeting with the Broncos brass in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Broncos brass is in Stillwater today for the Oklahoma State Pro Day.

The Post said the Arizona Cardinals are also on Manning's list of upcoming visits. I have not confirmed this independently but have been told Manning has "one or two other teams" aside from Denver and Miami that interest him.

Arizona and Kansas City are possibilities as is Seattle. Washington has been eliminated from consideration, one source told me.

Earlier today, ESPN reported the Dolphins' chances of landing Manning had suffered a blow based on the quarterback's apparent distaste for media attention. According to Adam Schefter, Manning didn't like all the attention he received from local media -- including a multiple helicopter chase of his van from the airport to Miami Beach.

I have tons of respect for Schefter. He's the best in the business. But, as ESPN folks would say, c'mon man! Media attention is freaking out Peyton Manning?

The man has played in two Super Bowls. The man has done more commercials than General Motors. The man hosted Saturday Night Live in 2007. The Mannings are not a family of shrinking violets. Brother Eli works in New York, the media capital of the world, and even forged the trade that put him in Gotham.

And Manning is spooked by Miami's local media? Or he's spooked by Miami being a bigger town than Indianapolis? Um, Phoenix and Denver are both bigger than Miami. And, in fact, Indianapolis has a bigger population than the City of Miami.

And, I remind you, Manning lives here.

So he's spooked by cameras but isn't spooked by, you know, important things like Denver's freaky weather and altitude? He's worried about a few TV cameras but will be comfortable with the avalanche of snow that will drop on his passes playing for the Broncos in December?

Stop. Please stop.

This year I believe there are 2 sure fire winning NFL QB's in the Draft. Luck and RG3. So there should be a 3rd among the many of the rest. Is it Tannehill, Cousins, Weeden, Foles, etc? Or is there more than 1? I don't know, up to the GM's.

After Luck its a weak class of QB's.

Remember a guy named Brady? Who can tell which round he was picked at?

When Brady retires Ryan Mallet will beat us twice a year.

I disagree, TGH. RG3 might not be ready now, but if Mike Vick is playing in the NFL, he will too, and better. The other College QB's this year many have set all kind of records. My inexperienced opinion, this is an above average QB class.

The Broncos lost 4 players due to suspension today, including DJ Williams. I believe Manning is doing his obligatory visits with teams just to see what is out there. He is not gonna cut his self short. He knows personnel on teams, he does his homework. When he was at Tennessee his freshman season, David Cutcliffe had to run him out of the film room. He is by far ahead of our time in dissecting defenses. The 2010 AFC Championship game against the Jets, coaches and players said he spent much of the week leading to the game in the film room. Even went as far back watching film of when Rex Ryan was D. Coordinator of the Ravens....The Jets changed their scheme before the game...only took Manning half a quarter to figure it out....The guy is ahead of our time!!!!

Little Stevie Johnson and Roddy White said RG3 over Luck. Sorrg TGH.

Oscar, last year was the best QB class in 20 years. 14 QB's were drafted including the supplemental. 8 of those saw playing time. That is a record. When Barkley and Jones didnt come out it made this a very poor class.

I think a lot of Manning's decision oncoming to Miami will be based upon how much he respects Mike Sherman. That's who he will be working closest with. And remember, we don't have a Quarterback Coach. That may be because they're not going to need one with Peyton. Or, Philbin intends to work close with the QB. Philbin and Sherman are going to be the ones to sell Manning on Miami. We've already seen how Ross and Ireland can screw things up! Hopefully, they'll put their best foot forward on this thing. Visiting with us last is a good thing!

Already saw the video from a helicopter of Manning in Denver. The media is going to cover this like it's OJ in a Bronco! (Sorry, a little humor there). Peyton better get used to being under the media microscope until he makes his decision.

Gary @ 8:09.....

Great point.....

Watching Manning in that AFC Championship game was a thing of beauty.....with each drive...you could see the wheels turning in Mannings head.....and by the 2nd quarter....he was slicing up the jets like a steak knife thu hot butter......

We'll see, TGH.

Ryan Mallet? Will see...terrible foot work, if Tom B. is not mobile, Mallet is...the statue of liberty!

terribe foot work.

It is usually an advantage, for a smart QB to call the plays.

Oscar, agree. A great advantage!

No waiting for trick plays, etc. All up to to the QB. few can do that.

I'm convinced a healthy Manning can take ANY team deep into the playoffs.

yes craig they made him an offer. clark hunt is a moron

when did manning play the jets in the afc champ game, lol

Who is clark hunt?

I will tell you one thing for sure, If ross and Ireland do not pull this off and get Manning and Wayne I am so done with this franchise until a new regime is in place and that wont be long with all the empty seats that will be in the stadium. If they blow this one then maybe there is something about them that just turns people the other way running ALA: jeff fisher and Jim Harbaugh. they better start trying not only to keep the fans they have but increase that number.

Dusty, I was like, what year was that? lol

Man, I tell you, any of those girls on Sobe today on all fours would be a sight to behold. Humm..

Don't worry, Armando. Most children are asleep by this time. I know.

Somebody managed to shoehorn Mallet into the conversation? Too much! At least we're not whining about 'losing' Fisher.

I liked Mallet a lot. He showed me I know crap about College QB's transitioning into the NFL.

Manning would be a done deal if we had Fisher at HC.

Bellichick stole Mallet from Ireland and stuck us with a 3 fer D Thomas. YIKES!!

Right on Craig.

Glad to see you on here posting away. You are a true board stalwart. You have opinions that some differ on but you always bring it on the board man...gratz.

Hey Jeff and Stephen...take Manning to a restaurant on South Beach (or wherever) away from the media (throw them a lie and they'll be like TMZ). Ask him what he wants (like you care)...and he's yours. The trip to Denver and where ever else is just a show. He wants Miami so show him the love.

Nothing against P.Manning, I'll cheer for him if he becomes a Dolphin, but I would much prefer RG3...Not even close.

Agree with the Mallet will haunt us later bunch.

For those that point to foot speed as his achilles heel just know it was Marino's and Brady's too. Not going off and saying Mallet is their equal just saying he will have plenty of shift in the pocket to play well.

First snap I saw him take as a Pat he deftly avoided a blitzing pass rusher that had him in his sights perfectly...he juked the guy and completed a nice flip to the flat. Arrrrgh, I HATED the DT 3 ferpick!!!

If they take Mallet instead of RB D. Thomas then we would be getting Trent Richardson in this draft. Double damn!

Ahhhhh, but I digress.

It is true that Miami is taking a long time to try to increase the $ we have available by not releasing some costly Players and restructuring others contracts.

Guess we dont have to worry unless we here that Ross and Ireland have the plane heading to Denver to make one last pitch.

Had a bad feeling yesterday when Dan said he wouldn't lobby, and then Philbin jaw jerked around.

Flynn to Miami, I have a very bad feeling.

Please Stop the insanity!!!!!! Go Dolphins!!!!
Quick Somebody send Mannings wife a bunch of roses or something.

Anyone think St. Louis might be lowering their asking price???

Hey GoodFellas,

Home here

Hope U R All Having a good night.

Pray Hard M2M!

Go Phins!

Bingo! Peyton is reliving the college recruiting atmosphere of "wooing" him and building his list of fine restaurants around the US.

I don't buy Peyton's "Golly Willikers" line about NOT thinking of what team he would like to play for and who is thinking about adding him for a second. He probably has his mind made up already unless the chosen team blows it.

I really don't think this will be a big fat paycheck decision...Peyton will go where he feels the opportunity, team, chemistry, weather, division, conference, coaching etc best serve his desire to win a bunch before he hangs 'em up.

The restaurant at the Mandarin Hotel in Brickell is tops. Perhaps, later on, you would like to go to the Clubs that are there. But we must warn you. You would find mostly Cubans there. Mostly, our daughters, grandaughters.

no clue on that one oscar.

If the wrong (or right depending on how you look at it) teams end up with other answers at QB then the Rams will have no choice but to lower the demands.

I am hearing that Cleveland doesn't want to give up both 1st rounders and may not pursue RGIII anyways to see if Colt can develop with more sup cast.

If Miami lands Manning and Washington lands Flynn...the RGIII suitors will be drying up right and left.

Shanny likes mobile QBs and Allen is an owner that has deep pockets and loves to make cannonball splashes so I picture Wash in the RGIII hunt.

In other words, Miami will ONLY be in the RGIII hunt if they strike out on Manning AND Philbin won't stake his early reputation on Flynn as a star in waiting. That my two cents worth of my humble opinion.

Sup Home!!

How goes it bro?

I think Mr. Manning is just enjoying a nice plane ride and a fat, juicy Denver steak....on da house.

I think Denver is out at the altitude and having it snow INSIDE his play pen.

What say ye?

Home has got to go

Maybe the other teams are caught scratching their heads this year with Manning signing with the Dolphins, balk in the draft, and RGIII falls to us with the #8 pick! Hey, it could happen...

On another note, I just had a Cuban sandwich (sandwich mixto) from a Publix here in Dothan, Alabama. It was okay, I guess, but I miss the ones that I used to have growing up near Orlando! Sigh!

Wonder if Peyton likes Cuban sandwiches?

Mr. Home,

If Manning chooses elsewhere what is your best QB plan?

Is it Flynn? Is it kings ransom for RGIII? Is it another QB diamond in the rough type? A FA QB perhaps?

Illuminati? Who is calling me here?

Oscar, it sounds like you would like an invite into the illuminati yes?

Listen. Illuminati no mix with World affairs. We watch, think.

Come on bro...while it is possible so is getting struck by 3 lightning bolts in the same night.

RGIII bet your farm and my farm on RGIII being long gone at #8.

Since you're in Alabama do you have any fav's off the 'Bama roster you want as a Fin?

Early in the draft process I liked Upshaw but I don't believe he will be flexible enough to be anything more than a situational pass rusher. Too small for every down DE vs the run and not fluid enough to play in reverse. I think space plays will expose him in the NFL.

I disagree man, this will be a huge paycheck for manning..think about it, this is probably the last contract that he will sign in the NFL...he's gonna cash in one last time to set his bank account for good

Home, are you one of Us? That would be a first, for an Illuminate to meet another. Probably greater than the Peyton Manning story, you know.

Colts released TE Clark as well...hmmm seems like if we land manning we might be gettin a TE along with a WR possibly ...
Illuminati Forever!

Home is a freak.. End of the world..the sky is falling... Quack
