Marino not recruiting, advising Manning unless asked

Dan Marino would love Peyton Manning to sign with the Miami Dolphins. Proof of that appeared on Marino's twitter page Thursday when the Hall of Famer tweeted, "Shout out to #18, Indy will never forget your legacy. Can't wait to see you back on the field doing what you do best."

Marino is a Manning fan. Marino thinks Manning would be a great wherever he lands, including Miami. But, you know, actually recruiting Manning to the Dolphins?

Probably not unsolicited.

“I probably wouldn’t do that unless he asks for some advice,” Marino said at a charity golf tournament today in Aventura. “And he has plenty of people that he’s working with to help him make the right decisions.”

Don't mistake that for ambivalence. Marino would have no problem pitching the Dolphins because he believes the team has possibilities.

"There’s great tradition there," he said. "We’ve had a couple off years but believe me, they’ll be back,” Marino said. “It’s a great franchise and they’ll get it turned around."

But truth be told, Marino said he thinks Manning would be good in Miami ... or Arizona ... or Denver ... or just about anywhere, really.

"I think he fits with anybody," Marino said. "He’s one of the best to ever play the game at that position. So wherever he ends up playing, if he’s healthy, which is going to be important to Peyton, I’m sure he wants to go out there and play at a high level. Wherever he plays, he’ll be a huge impact for that team."

Btw dusty,

Nice part of the world you live in. I've been in that area a few times and it's a nice spot.

reports today here are kc is his favorite because of all the cap room they have. said he loves the fact that their div is horrible and the fan base is rabid. he wants to pick team soon as possible so he can help recruit free agents, and in kc he can cause they have a ton of cash to spend

Manning will not go to:
Stinkin Jets- why, because he wouldn't want to be competing for NY with his bro
Skins- why, play giants twice per year, Peyton doesn't want to do that to his brother
Hou- why, the texans will not change their entire O for manning because they feel they are ok already
Manning will go to:
Mia- why, because I along with you guys think he can win for us now..and still be able to land a stud QB in the next 2 or 3 drafts while manning is still playing for us.
Den- possibly because he is chums with horse face Elway, and Elway is organized
Ariz- because of their dome, and WR Larry doesn't hurt

yeah craig solid place to live. miss the ocean though. but kc is just like miami fans right now, sports talk is all manning right now and they are just like us, acting as if hes already a chief

KC..he won't go because of the weather...but KC lured another former great QB once before...do they know just what to offer ???

cg3 your missing kc on that list, he loves that option

weather isnt a big factor, hell miami goes to ne,buff,ny every year.

dusty,

I have no doubt that the Chiefs would like to add Manning but I don't believe he's said anything about KC or the division they play in. He was just released yesterday and he's been very guarded in his comments. So, I'm not buying into any of this right now. To me it's a bunch of media guys talking amongst themselves. The division argument doesn't work for me because these things are cyclical. That division could be one of the best in the next couple of years....nobody knows. I think one of the things that will count against them is the weather. Just my opinion...

sad thing here is marino really doesnt want manning stealing his spotlight. he does not want manning playing here. notice how he said i think he will be great anywhere. a fin fan would of been all over it saying he should come here

craig this all comes from his camp, same camp that says he has already told washington no thanks

dusty,

You don't know that. You don't think Marino would be happy if the 'Phins won a championship at some point? He likes Manning. He's always liked Manning. Manning's already broke some of his records. I'm sure if he played 4-5 years in Miami Marino would be fine with that.

Look, when was the last time the Ross ireland got the man they wanted,NEVER so what makes you think we will get manning,Nothing. They lost out on Harbaugh,Fischer and now Manning. We lose out on RG3 too.The best we are going to get is Flynn(maybe). So fans be prepared.

your right i dont know that, but i sure think that, lol

fan71 if that happens they may burn down miami. seriously it will be suicide for ross and this franchise

Fan since 71,

Thanks for your support of the franchise. Good to have positive fans like yourself on board....

columbos,lol

NY--The practice bubble doesn't actually have a name. The whole 'Nick Saban' thing is Armando's attempt at humor...which, true to form is neither funny or relevant.

Anyway, no. It's not actually named for Nick Saban (who isn't dead last time I checked, by the way!)

tj,

lol. Thanks.

Sorry folks, but in the end manning is going to the texans. He will get to face the colts twice a year. Ross is going to look like a fool once again!

Denver is a top option for him. Elway wants him and they are friends. True.

Neither kc, nor denvet are in play.

new post up

sources tell ESPN that the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and New York Jets have actually been in contact with Manning's representatives.

aloco, since you can predict the future, when will you quit commenting so I can read something intelligent.

For the record, Pennington was #2 runner up for the MVP,but got robbed. Peyton took a stellar annual playoff team to the playoffs, a team he had been on for a decade. Penne took the worst team in the league to the playoffs and he only arrived shortly before the season started.

Miami, Houston and Denver have the best shot. Manning is not going to the NFC.

PLEASE !!! If the Dolphins dont make any other moves- if no top QB's are taken in the draft- you gotta sign Peyton. Give us Dolphans some hope- for the next 2-3 years at least. Peyton represents all that's good for our future- to have hope for a Super Bowl dream come true. WE WANT PEYTON !!!!
