Report: Dolphins meet Manning in Indy

The Dolphins got their meeting with Peyton Manning. Tonight. Done.

The meeting took place in Indianapolis, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Mortensen also reported the Dolphins were represented by four to five members of the organization. The meeting reportedly lasted between five and six hours.

This was definitely not a courtesy meeting with Philbin or phone call, as ESPN had earlier suggested.

I'll be texting/emailing/begging for clues in the morning on how the meeting went. It is assumed the Tennessee Titans are going to meet with Manning Tuesday.

WE SHOULD JUST MOVE ON WE ARE NOT GETTING PEYTON, I DON'T KNOW IF FLYNN IS THE ANSWER BUT WE HAVE TO GET SOMEBODY TO COMPETE WITH MOORE AT THE VERY LEAST , THE DOLPHINS SHOULD NOT WAIT.

It is also possible he wanted to avoid all the hoopla here in Miami. And he has to travel to Tennesse now.

Posted by: oscar canosa

Oscar were have you read or heard that he is traveling to Tennesse? More BS... he isn't going to Tennesse! Bud Adams has to go to him in Indy... Quit making stuff up! He isnt traveling to anymore places... they have to go to him if they wanna have a meeting. After the 2 long boring stops in denver and Ar., he decided he didnt want to tavel anymore. He traveled to those places because thats how they said it was done, and he isnt familar with denver and Az. ... He know whats up in tenn. and Miami... But dont think i'm rooting for miami to get him just because im calling you out!

Agree 110 percent Jeff Row,
The media knows nothing and pretends to be on to something when in fact my little 4 yr old sister talks to Peyton Manning as much as these blubbering fools.
Home seems to know more about what's going on than anyone else.Home says by 3:00 PM today, Manning will announce his decision he has already made.

I hope Home is right! If so he may be the only in Florida or in the country that got this thing right.

ALL CHIPS ARE IN FOR HOME AND THE FUTURE OF THE MIAMI DOLPHINS.WE MUST HAVE PEYTON MANNING AND HAVE HIM ABOVE ALL ELSE.LETS DO THIS THING.

Home says as reported that, "the Dolphins are very much in the thick of the Peyton Manning race, after all"

ESPN reported late Monday night that Manning met with Dolphins coach Joe Philbin and other members of his staff for nearly six hours during the day in Indianapolis. This report came barely 12 hours after ESPN reported that Manning was done visiting teams and that the Broncos and Cardinals — not the Dolphins — were at the top of his list.

The report states that Manning talked X's and O's with Philbin, offensive coordinator Mike Sherman and other Dolphins coaches and that it was a "good meeting." The Dolphins, desperate for a franchise quarterback to lead the team back to the playoffs and bring fans back to Sun Life Stadium, have made Manning their top priority this off-season.

Home said,
"MVP QB Peyton Manning WILL be a Miami Dolphin in 2012"

@ radcliffe and kris >>>...Home is guessing as well .. It doesn't take a genius to know that Manning will make his decision before free agency begins which is at 4pm today. If he doesn't it makes him look bad around the league!

Not my intention to upset you, Jeff. I don't belong to the Media(although I scrutinize it closely). I just read that Manning had added 2 more Teams to his itinerary, Tennesse, SF(and possibly Houston). I just assumed he would go there; but you are right, they might come to him.

I'm not so sure Jeff Rowe. Home is aka as "NostraHomeUs" because of his Dolphin predictions on players and scores which far exceed accuracy over the talking heads. Home has been firm on his prediction regarding our quarterback situation in Miami for over two months now.

Right now i just need something to believe and someone to give me hope that we land him.

What kind of coffee you offering, Home, carajillo?(expresso+Brandy). We might as well make a toast. Yes?

@oscar canosa .. You didn't upset me . there is just so much miss information out there. and this blog loves to take things and run with it.just wanted to set the record st8. peace .... the trolls aren't on here yet, wait till they get here. the will run with it!

Mike Ditka and Jimmy Johnson also are in the Home camp, saying that quarterback Peyton Manning would best fit in Miami and cannot understand why Miami is not his first choice. However, they are not adamant like Home.

As a matter of fact, I'm making a semi-carajillo now(expresso+Scotch). Skol!

As long as we address to Q/B position this year i dont care who we get ... but i dont think Manning is the answer.

IT MUST BE EASTER TIME CAUSE THE DOLPHINS IS PUTTING ALL OF THIER EGGS IN ONE BASKET.

JEFF DARLINGTON IS THE MAN WHO BROKE THE NEWS ............

Manning is making monkeys out of all that interview him. They all kiss up to him on his own terms and he won't even throw the ball. The winner of the Manning sweepstakes will not get what they bargained for.

If you think Peyton hasn't talked with Marino, you're nuts. "Hey, Dan, how the hell do you survive in this Media-hungry place?". "Naah, just ignore them".

Manning = Prima Donna

I BOUGHT A CHAD HENNE JERSEY IN MIAMI A WEEK AGO FOR 15 DOLLARS.

I KNOW HE MUST BE HAPPY.

FOR A GUY WHO STARTED FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS HE's GOING TO BE MISSED ONE DAY.

I WILL MAKE IT A POINT TO REMIND EVERY ONE OF YOU EVERY WEEK.

THEY PLAYED THAT FINS PATS GAME ON NFL NETWORK AND CHAD ONLY LOSE THAT GAME BECAUSE OUR D COULDN'T STOP BRADY.

BUT HE WAS MASTERFULL

History shows us that of all QB's to switch teams this late in their career, only Farve had any notable success. Farve miraculously stayed healthy and never needed a season off or extensive rehab.

I'll bet on history over excessive media hype any time.

HE MUST BE HAPPY HE's GONE.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM GO TO ANOTHER TEAM AND THEY GO TO THE PLAYOFFS AND HE MAKE THE PROBOWL.

People with negativity in their comments are NOT trolls. But they sure as hell look like them.

People overly optimistic are often fear reality. I don't argue with history.

I got tired of playing 'make believe' 10 years ago. I guess some fans will be content to play 'make believe' for another 10 years.

WHAT ABOUT KURT, JOE, RANDAL, JUST TO NAME SOME OFF OF MY HEAD

MY BIGGEST PROBLEM ABOUT GOING AFTER PAYTON IS HE's ANOTHER BAND-AID.

I WISH THEY JUST GO TO A QB AND GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO GROW.

Those guys were all younger and not coming off multiple surgeries and nerve regeneration issues.

Well not all were younger. But none had to deal with this much rehab this late in their career. I'm using history as a guide, and not the fluke case of Favre.

Call me doom and gloom. I see a rookie HC, a rookie DC, and a QB switching teams for the first time very late in his career and still in lengthy rehab, rehab is a word he himself uses. It doesn't not sound like a recipe for success to me. If he was somewhat younger maybe I'd be more interested.

QB's at his age are no longer in their prime even without the rehab. It's wishful thinking he will be in the same form he was a few years ago. He one 1 SB on a much better team with much more experienced coaching staff. To think he will waltz on to any of these teams and bring them a title, I don't see it. I see a league with increasing competition beyond the usual 8 or so teams.

I'd rather invest in the future than delay it.

JUSTIN CREDIBLE, so they should do nothing. I hear band aid from some, but the NFL is a win now league. There are very few dynasties, NE being one of the few that comes to mind. I don't include GB or the Giant to that list. They've had down years.

Furthermore, it is unknown if Peyton will be fully ready for the start of training camp. Less time for him to acclimate to brand new players. Which system does Moore learn to start training camp? Philbins? Mannings? I don't like the complications this introduces.

I don't know why those so high on Flynn are not as high on Moore? Not to say he is or is not the answer, but he showed enough with virtually no offseason and found his stride with the team. Why are our own fans higher on Flynn than more experienced Moore who has shown he can lead the team?

Go with Moore as starter in 2012. IF they like one of the QB's in this draft, fine. If not, maybe trade down and get some ammunition to trade up for a QB next year.

Ok, everyone is sick of me. I'll bow out for now.

This organization is forever stuck on 'next year'. The long term solution at QB once again will not be resolved this year. Every year we think next year they'll resolve it once and for all, but next year never comes.

You know what makes me sick about all this. Adam Schefter is still saying the meeting last night was just complentary and Dolphins are all but out of this. He hasn't got a clue what is going on. He thinks Manning is in Miami snubbing the Dolphins and will not see any other teams. When he is actually in Indy setting up other meetings with Dolphins and Titans. No one knows what Manning is thinking. It makes me sick Schefter continues to say Manning will not choose Dolphins when he has no clue the Dolphins had a meeting set up with Manning for days.

wow, radcliffe is home too. Does this guy stop at nothing to look important? Calling him pathetic is an insult to pathetic people!

Schefter has a job and a boss. He gets paid to spout his opinion and keep the news flowing. It's the media, its a business like all others.

Schefter is a turd

Dudley,
How do you report Peyton is Miami snubbing all the teams and is actually in Indy setting up meetings. If it is sources then we know that his sources don't have a clue. That's why I will not go by what he is saying. Jeff Darlington and Armando sources have been spot on throughout the process. Armando said days ago that the meeting would be a different kind of meeting. NFL.com has Dolphins favorite now. Who knows where this is going? Time will only tell.

I think Manning 1. Retires 2. Goes to Houston

scheffer is the boss.?

MICHAEL:

WHAT DOWN YEAR HAS THE GIANTS HAVE?

THEY WON TWO TIMES IN THE LAST 5 YEARS.

WHAT OTHER TEAM CAN SAY THAT?

SOUND LIKE A WIN NOW TEAM TO ME.

BUT DO YOU REMEMBER THE BUMPS THEY WENT THROUGH?

ELI WAS HATED IN THIS AREA. MY BROTHER WAS A ELI HATER LIKE NO OTHER NOW THERE'S NOT A FAN THAT DON'T LOVE HIM.

HE WILL WIN AT LEAST TWO MORE RINGS.

Georgia, I'm not defending him. The media is a business. Sources are not always correct. He gets paid to report what he finds out, what is reported to him. Reporters get fed smoke screen info all the time. Or at times things are changing fast. He job is to keep the attention of his followers alive, generate interest. I'm sure he tries to be as accurate as possible, but reports are left to guess and give opinions as well. I wouldn't take it all so seriously. It's nothing more than the media business milking a story for every drop its worth.

Armando is in most cases the last one to any story involving the fins, but thats another matter.

Home is a Dolphin prophet.
Home is to the Miami Dolphins as Moses was to his people.
M2M!

I tained HOME at my gym in Jersey which i own.
I admit HOME was right about a lot of Dolphin stuff.
HOME is good people,i just like messing with him

^*trained

If HOME is right about M2M than I am going to treat him to chiken wings and beer in Miami.

*^ chicken wings

BUT YES TO ANSWER YOU.

THEY SHOULD STOP LISTENING TO THIER FANS.

A WIN NOW LEAGUE GETS YOU THE CARDS.

A QUICK RISE TO NOWHERE.

WE NEED TO BUILD A COMPLETE TEAM NOT JUST ADD A QB.

WE GET PAYTON OR FYNN AND WE ARE DONE.

MISI HAVEN'T SHOWED HE CAN GET TO THE QB.

WE STILL DON'T HAVE A FREE SAFTY. EVEN THOUGH I'm FOR GIVING CLEMONS AND JONES A CHANCE.

THE RIGHT SIDE OF OUR O-LINE WAS ON OUR BENCH.

OUR WIDE OUTS CAN'T RUN AFTER CATCH.

BUT WE WILL HAVE A QB.

I know people don't want to hear this because they want to believe in the purity of pro football and all that crap, but the reality is the NFL is a corrupt league, and no one knows where Manning is going including the national media. Armando and the Miami Herald are actually doing a much better job of covering this story than ESPN and the national media and I'll tell you why. Armando and The Miami Herald just want to know if Manning is coming to Miami, or not, and they are just reporting the facts, where the national media, has an agenda, and is trying to influence the result. ESPN is staffed primarily by New Yorkers( Jets fans) and moronic New Englanders( Patsy fans) who are scared ----less of Manning coming to the Dolphins and they also basically kiss the backside of Bob Kraft who runs all the media operations of the NFL. Kraft knows if Manning goes to the Dolphins, the last few years of Brady's career will be a struggle as he gets old, his chances of winning another Super Bowl diminish, and the Jets path to playoff glory is all jeopardized. ESPN is doing everything it can to try to derail the Manning to Dolphins scenario, so they can protect the money machine that is the Jets/Patriots rivalry and the NorthEast cabal, because these people up North think the world revolves around them. The fact that the meeting took place in Indianapolis is good because that means he wants to see if he likes the Dolphins brass personally in a place he calls home, and how he relates to them. It is a strong sign that he likes the Dolphins. I will say this, you should only believe what Armando reports on this and stay away from ESPN. They will openly celebrate if Manning stays away from the Dolphins, but if he chooses Miami, you will all of a sudden hear how he is old and not what he used to be. That place is full of a bunch of peole who remember the Patsies losing 20 in a row to the Dolphins in the Orange Bowl in the 1970's and 1980's, and Shula crushing the Jets during those years as well. They are scared witless of the Dolphins coming back to glory with Manning, because they know the allure of the franchise and the power it could have once again if it wins big. ESPN is reporting what it wants to happen, not what is happening. Truth is only Manning knows what he will do. I know ESPN well, that place is full of a bunch of wack jobs. To Bob Kraft, the Jets and ESPN, I have a message for you. Up Yours!

The only thing that matters about all this to me is the timing. The reports only matter if Ireland believes them (otherwise, none at all, since fans don't make any decisions).

Timing is the problem here. FA starts at 4pm. Miami (reportedly) will go after Flynn if Manning signs elsewhere. Reports also indicate Cleveland and Seattle interested in Flynn. Neither of those teams seem to be on Manning's radar, therefore, if that's true, there will be nothing stopping them from going after Flynn right away (and if that might get a jump on Miami, it would make sense to those teams). Then it'll be up to Flynn, does he sign with them BEFORE he hears from Miami, or wait?

Also, what about the other players Miami's looking at? How does waiting for Manning affect that (if at all)? It would have been best for Manning to have made a decision by now. I'd encourage Ireland not to wait forever for Manning.

We could have never signed M2M without the help of, ...... Home lol

Guys do you want to know when Peyton Manning is done, when he tries to throw a 15 yard out route to Brandon Marshall and the ball sputters out of his hands has no zip, no tight spiral and finally the ball gets picked off by the DB and taken back to the house for a TD.

Thats when we can say Manning done.

WAKE UP FOLKS. The Phins franchise is in the toilet because of it's Gm & owner. Manning isn't coming here. He's too smart. The Phins are a celebrity circus with a clown owner & gm.

"OK, so let me get this straight.

Peyton Manning spent an entire weekend out West, getting wined and dined by the Broncos and Cardinals, meeting with all the top brass at each potential football destination.

And the Dolphins can't even get the man with a South Beach condo to swing by Davie for a visit?

Mr. One Hit Away spent more than six hours at the Broncos' facility, including a 20-minute sitdown with club owner Pat Bowlen, only to follow that up with a long dinner at a country club, swapping jokes with John Elway and coach John Fox.

Then Manning spent nearly as long in Arizona, chatting up All-Pro receiver Larry Fitzgerald and having dinner at the home of Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, his golfing buddy.

And the Dolphins, who reportedly met with Manning on Monday night in Indianapolis, could only send new coach Joe Philbin, offensive coordinator Mike Sherman and perhaps General Manager Jeff Ireland?

What is wrong with this picture?

I'll tell you what's wrong: Manning is getting ready to let the Dolphins down easy.

How can it be anything different when he still reportedly plans to meet with Titans head coach Mike Munchak?

If you're really thinking about hiring an organization — and make no mistake, it's Manning who is doing the hiring here — don't you have to meet all the principal figures?

Instead, per multiple reports, Dolphins owner Steve Ross wasn't expected to be among those making the official pitch.

That occurred far away from the Dolphins' facility, where Manning spent both his Super Bowl weeks.

Oh, great.

While Ross sat back in Davie, fighting the urge to spam-text Philbin with little reminders like "Be sure to mention Dan Marino" and "See if his wife would like to meet Fergie," it was basically up to a rookie head coach to close the deal.

Or at least jam his foot in the door long enough to keep Manning from slamming it on the Dolphins' fingers.

It was left up to Philbin to keep his new team on Manning's radar — to whatever extent the Dolphins have been there throughout this exercise in mis- and disinformation.

"Front-runners?"

That's what the Dolphins supposedly were last week at this time.

"Very confident?"

Sure doesn't feel like that's an apt description for this meandering franchise now.

I am only playing with the Miami Dolphins because of Miami's super fan HOME!

There is no one like HOME.

If Manning is truly a competitor that everyone says he is, he would want to join the Dolphins to stick it to Brady every year, if he doesnt come, he's just doesnt feel like he can beat Brady. Simple as that.

wow, radcliffe is home too. Does this guy stop at nothing to look important? Calling him pathetic is an insult to pathetic people!
