Tim Tebow goes to the Jets ... plays Miami twice a year

I have a suggestion for the Miami Dolphins: Pass on Tim Tebow day this year.

The former University of Florida star, the former Heisman Trophy winner, the man who led the Gators to national championships and the Denver Broncos to the playoffs, is now a New York Jet. He was traded today from Denver to the Jets for a reported fourth-round draft pick.

That ruckus you hear? The sound of the circus pulling up stakes from its recent Davie, Florida run and moving on to its next scheduled gig. Next stop the Meadowlands.

That's not a rip on Tebow. Nope, he's great. Great person. Great philanthropist. Great man of faith. Great football player. He's just not a great quarterback -- at least not yet.

The Jets acquired him to back up starter Mark Sanchez. They also will likely use him in their Wildcat package. Tony Sparano -- remember him? -- will give the Jets Wildcat a decisively Dolphins feel as he is New York's new offensive coordinator.

And Tebow figures to be his triggerman.

The problem is Tebow, the biggest attention-grabbing story in the NFL last season, is moving on to the media capital of the world. He'll be on the back pages. He'll be in the cross-hairs of the paparazzi. He'll be huge!

And he could be a huge pain in the neck for Sanchez.

Although Tebow is ostensibly going to New York as a backup and limited package guy, he is playing behind a quarterback in Sanchez who has proven himself to be, well, stinky at times.

And stinky at times quarterbacks have one unmistakable gift: They get replaced. That means the time Sanchez struggles two games in a row, it won't be long before calls for Tebow to replace Sanchez would be heard in the media or, worse, raining down from the MetLife Stadium stands.

An already fragile Jets locker room will have to lean on its most sturdy pillars or Rex Ryan's ample, ahem, shoulders to keep the place from fracturing.

Yeah, that'll work. Cue the circus music!

"We don't need Tebow. We sell out every home game let him go to Jacksonville, Tampa or Miami," Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie tweeted Tuesday. "Our wildcat offense can be ran (sic) by J Kerley or Joe McKnight we straight."

Later Cromartie was back at it.

"We have @MarkSanchez and just signed Drew. Mark has taken us to two AFC championship game (sic). We need to build on the team we have now."

What a lovely way to welcome a new teammate! Cromartie, by the way, attended Florida State. Tebow is a Gator.

Tebow's first order of business will probably be to show himself the forgiving turn-the-other-cheek guy his faith calls him to be. On the other hand, Tebow is 240 pounds and Cromartie is a comparative a stick figure at 205.

So maybe Tebow's first order of business will instead by to grab Cromartie in a headlock and force him to repent.

4 yr deal for answerson, I saw that... NO way. Bills will not finish ahead of fins this year, jets maybe. Wanny will do something to f up.

Hopefully Justin Blackmon is still on the board at 8. Then the Fins can go get Brandon Weeden in the 3rd. Those two weren't too bad together in college! Either way, I say WR is a huge priority now and Weedend would be a great fit with Philbin's offense. He's a rhythm thrower who completes a high percentage of his passes. He has some down side (age, injury) but I think he's worth a shot in the 3rd round.

The Bills just signed Anderson making them even more competitive relative to the Dolphins.

Why did we miss out again? Do we actually want to win games next year? Are we in rebuilding mode and am I just too dumb to see it? Do we really want to loss next year as part of this rebuilding?

Why do we have no cap space on a team that scrapped 6 wins last year?

Ireland says we need a god draft - doesn't everyone? Does Ireland expect to acquire pro bowlers with each and every pick? How else will we fill all these holes we're creating by dropping talent whilst missing out on FA's.

27.50million 8 million guranteed?? NFW

Oh yeah, and since this article was about Tebow signing with the Jets... Thank you Dolphins for not making this mistake! Finally a good non-decision. I cannot wait to watch that Jets team implode. I think we've found the way to the end of the Rex Ryan era. If I never have to see him at another press conference it will be too soon.

pete 28 million for him.. really, u wanted him that much?

Tebow in Clown-Green & Sanchize fighting for the same position should be funny.

Santonio Holmes fighting with Tebow.

And Sparano's fist pumping for field goals and Nick Folk missing Field goals.

Tebow and Lin same city.

Should be entertaining.

Come back to bed Home!

Broncos want $5 million which Jets didn't know was in Tebow's contract. Jets and Broncos are negotiating. Broncos don't want to eat the $5 mil.

Rams, Jags and Fins could all be back in play.

Ok, re-cap.

Fisher's DC is suspended indefinitely, AND, now they're trying to sign Fizbo?

I would be one very unhappy fin fan right now, had we 'won' the Fisher sweepstakes.

Swamy Phins not in play PFT says RAMS. Phins came out and said no way to Tebow. He is not going be a 4th qb on our team.

Rumor has it.

Tebow and Jeremy Lin will be roomates.

Cousins is not tall and lanky at all.

Can we fire Ireland now?

OK, I was neither a supporter of Ross or Ireland. I always stayed mute on the conversation/supporting/bashing.

I officially hit the dark side as of today. All the networks are laughing at us saying we have no direction. Older free agents (Clark from Pitt)older dolphins Chowder/Porter ect... all saying no one wants to go to where Ireland is because he is so shady!!

This just sucks! Completly sucks. Sorry needed to vent, still a die hard phin fan, but hearing all of this is getting to me.

ESPN has said GMs don't want Tebow.

But some owners do.

If ROSS wants Tebow, ROSS gets Tebow.

If Rams get Tebow, any chance Blackmon dropping to #8 is gone.

post at 355pm

i hate to give this shite the time of day but i assure whoever that one of the many "home" personalities is not The Crusher. i dont know & i dont care who home is.he is amusing at best and a space eater at worst, but in any guise he could not come up with fight song lyrics that coherent!

Blah Blah Im dumb yea yea SSTFU

Miami is in no way, shape or form interested in that Asswipe TE-Blow.

The Tim "babe ruth" Tebow little curse of the babe curse, begins for the Broncos right now. Even Jetfans are now complaining! LOL

Mando, u and others just dont listen or learn. So listen up. Tebow led the Broncos to a playoff game. Broncos could have gone farther if they had a WR and on offensive line. Listen very carefully, one man can not do it,,,say again,,,one man can not do it. Must be a team effort. If Moore had began the season instead of "lurch" the Dolphins might have been playoff bound, but then again the Dolphin OL raises its very ugly head. We had the Pats down 24 - zip at half and couldnt close the deal. The Dolphin defense is over hyped and over paid, is the reasoon Ireland has not much cap room. If Matt Moore gets help you and others will be singing a different tune. The boy can ball,,,,

Not so fast. Just reported that the trade hit a snag. They are trying to work it out...YO~! Ireland how about Tebow? It will bring many more buts to Joe Robbie Stadium than old Dave Garrard ever could. I would love to see Tebow take it in for a score when we play the Jets!

How about it Ireland, try something daring for a change, bring Tebow to to the Phins!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the Broncos will eat the $5 million or most of it if they want to get rid of him.

Don't forget -

Miami is in no way, shape or form interested in that Asswipe TE-Blow.

No way the Broncos 'eat' $5M...ain't gonna happen.

Newest rumor is the Jags want back in the Tebow mania and are making an offer to Denver as we speak.
...stand by folks it never ends when Tebow is the subject.

How could we forget? He reminds us every 2 or 3 minutes.

And Cromartie, listen folks, that guy has about 10 kids by 10 different mothers. Cromartie crack'en others is the pot calling the kettle black. Cromarties kick name should be "blew by you".

GO AWAY, Dear Pussass, being a troll who is afraid to use their own name. Go blow ur boyfriend while humping ur blow up TE-Blow doll

fukkin 2 bad beatches at the same damn time!

Bobbdy12 is...

If the Fins can find an LT or Pierre Paul at #8, PULL THE TRIGGER!

Assuming the Bucs go for Richardson, Clairborne could drop to the Fins.

bad mamma jamma cumquat

Hmmm.Tebow to the Jets???????WELL..I ll really look forward to seeing the Fins beat them every year...all the more.Tebow will likely be a great Wildcat QB though with Sparano.Since I think he s not a good passing QB......I think Sanchez will keep his spot as the No. 1 as long as he stays healthy.

I hope the NFL suspends both Ross and Ireland for their malacious intent on the team's fortunes these past five years! Suspend them for ten years I tell ya!

The Jets, Tebow, and the wildcat using Tebow are exciting.

Matt Moore and the Dolphins are boring.

i'm a grown ass 51 year old man who thought this blog thing would be engaging...i was wrong. there are some good folks in cyberspace(you know who you are...don't you?) but way to many douche bags.i'd rather talk dolphins football with a real F@ckin marine mammal. way more intelligent then most here. dont bother with the "dont let the door hit you ass on the way out type comments",unless the same guy wants to amuse himself with 20 differnet inane posts. i myself an gonna kick this bullshite habit right now...wait for it...click on the red x

Cromartie is an ignorant thug uneducated n_iggah, who humilates himself every time he speaks or tries to write.

Tebow is a class act and a winner. Tebow took a 1-4 team to the playoffs last year.

Cromartie's team lost TO THE DOLPHINS in the last game when the Jets were playing for a playoff berth and the Dolphins had nothing to play for.

Irescum landed David friggin Garrard. He said he was after him for "years". If ya cant make the Jaquars roster ya can always start for the Dullfins. PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!

The reason Tebow is a good addition to any team is that his winning attitude rubs off on even the ignorant thug n_iggaz like Cromartie.

Who cares about Tebow -shouldn't we be whining about Ireland?

I HATE IRESCUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this will sound ridiculous but it's just me thinking out loud, with the news that Payton is suspended for the year and the fact the Saints are giving up a second this year and next, plus all the coaches that will miss time, isn't this setting up as a wasted season for the Saints? On top of that they have franchised Brees and will have to pay him something like $22-24 mil a year this year and he's apparently PISSED about it. If there ANY chance....I mean ANY chance at all that they might trade Brees? I can just see that situation getting uglier and uglier as the season progresses. Why pay him all that money, when they pretty much have NO chance now to be a top team this year. It's a good team on paper but don't you think they are going to be affected by this all year and scrutinized and having to answer questions about it?

So I'm just throwing it out there to say, SHOULD we be interested and at what price? Not saying this will ever get past the preliminary stage but it's an idea.

If Floridians want to see Pro football they have to go to Jax or Tampa.

Will Allen signs with the Pats. WTF does Bellifuk always signs the Dolphins rejects?

All I can say about the Flynn thing is obviously Philbin doesn't think he's all that good. If he really thought he'd be a great QB in his system, I don't see how Philbin doesn't go to Ireland/Ross and force them to make it happen. Especially when their next option was an injured player who couldn't do squat in Jax (with the 2nd best RB in the AFC).

Posted by: DC Dolfan | March 21, 2012 at 03:50 PM

For all we know, Philbin may have told Ireland Flynn was definitely his guy. It seems to boil down to a value Ireland put on what he saw as a back-up pushing to be starter.

Sometimes you have to pay a little extra for what your coach believes a player can become, not just what you value him at the moment.

The reason I look at it this way, if you take Manning out of the picture, Flynn was the first qb coming in. Leads me to believe he would have been their priority.

The Jags would be the best place for Tebow.

The Fins could now be back in play for Blackmon or Clairborne because the Browns will over spend to get Tannehill with their 4th.

This is my prediction.

1)Colts - Luck/Griffin (ESPN talk is that Griffin is better
2)Redskins- Luck/Griffin
3)Vikings - Kalil
4)Browns - Tannehill
5)Bucs - Richardson
6)Rams - SURPRISE - Riley Rieff, LT to protect Bradford
7)Jags - Clairborne or Blackmon
8)Fins - Clairborne or Blackmon

The Crusher for a 51 year, you write like a 10 year old, let me guess you were taught by Florida public schools.

You sit there and you thump your bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn't get you anywhere! Talk about your psalms, talk about John 3:16 ... Austin 3:16 says I just trade your as!"

Craig M

From the way the FO has been behaving, I'd say they either don't have the money or don't want to spend it that way. And then there's the potential irony that we finally do land Brees (remember Saban?), invest a lot of money into him, and then watch him destroy his shoulder behind our line.

I hate to think that way, but that's how I think.

Let's draft a QB.

Notice no one ever goes from the Pats to the Dullfins. It would be too big a downer.

Maybe, maybe not. The point is eventually the Phins need to spend some money to fill one of the many holes on the team.

But only if they want to win this year...

Not sure if you're still around or not but I've read that Seattle isn't going to simply hand Flynn the starting job over T-Jack. Now that may just be the politically correct thing to say but it does give pause as to how Flynn will do in Seattle. It's not going to be an easy go for him. The Niners are the cream of the division but I expect Kolb and the Cards will be better this year and I fully expect the Rams to be a lot better this year with all they've had going on. To me it's an uphill climb for Flynn and the 'Hawks.

Most of you are the type of ignorant thugs who are "fans" of the UM Canes, so you won't understand this, but I will explain it to you anyway.

Tim Tebow is a winner with a winning can-do attitude. That kind of thing is instilled at UF. You would not understand.

Tim Tebow is the exact opposite of big mouth thugs--who can't even speak English--such as Cromartie, Brandon Marshall, Joey Porter, and Warren Sapp.

OF COURSE you want Tim Tebow on your team, regardless of whether he's a Bradylike QB, because his winning attitude rubs off on and helps control the thugs.

The thugs grew up in the streets without father figures and have the mental maturity of the average 6 year old European American.

Real football people--actual coaches--know this. Starting even in high school. Winning teams have guys like Tim Tebow, Danny Wuehrfel, Dan Marino, Tom Brady, John Elway, Peyton Manning. Intelligent, well adjusted guys who help get the most out of the crybaby thugs who were blessed with the athletic gifts to play WR and RB.

Last year, Tim Tebow took a 1-4 team (going nowhere with the same defense) to 8-8 including 6 straight wins and then won a playoff game, throwing for 316 yards, against the vaunted Steelers.

In the same season, Cromartie's team lost the last game TO THE PATHETIC DOLPHINS when the Jets were playing for a chance at the playoffs and the Dolphins had nothing to play for!!!!!!!!!!

Pay attention. This illustrates what I'm saying.

Here is what you will see in the coming years, I promise you, even though you UM haters just don't get it:

He will have a long NFL career and be a very good deal for any team when you factor in what he'll get paid. He'll eventually transition to FB/TE and he'll apply his same great attitude.

You will see this.

Now I'm reading that there is a snag with the Jets deal, but I promise you that wherever Tebow goes, he WILL have a positive impact.

Blog Fodder,

I think you're dead right. It was kind of a stupid idea. I just think the Saints are going to be in real tough this year and I thought I would throw it out there. I think we'd all agree that the 'Phins aren't just one player away and I don't see any way they could fit him into their team salary this year without having to blow things up.

Just threw it out there for fun....

This has been the offseason from hell following the season from hell. Hey Ross, how about some good news for a change? Like Irescum is fired?

im so sexy

If Manning got 25mill/year, Brees is going to want =/>. Ross has the $ to sign him but the NFL doesn't let him do it. Talk to Goodell.

Just lost Mark Anderson as well. Nice job again by Ireland.

The day Irescum is fired ticket sales will boom!
