Dolphins fan protest not as effective as possible

I love and admire Dolphins fans.

You are the reason I am employed. You feed my family and put a roof over my head. You are passionate. You are usually well-informed. Many of you are bright. And you're beaten down after a decade of unacceptable results by your once-elite football franchise.

But Tuesday's protest across the street from the Dolphins practice facility in Davie, Fl.?

Not the way to do it.

Firstly, it was hastily planned. It was modestly attended. It was not exactly exactly Martin Luther King's march on Selma, Alabama as you can see by the video I shot below.

The Dolphins recognized the gathering. The club released the following statement through a spokesman:

"We have the most passionate fans in football and they are not shy about letting their sentiments be known. We understand and we are working hard on giving them something to cheer about this season."

And here is the video:

But here is my point:

That is not the way to do it.

A gathering of two dozen Dolphins fans in the middle of the afternoon in the offseason doesn't really touch the team. It doesn't make the team feel your pain. It doesn't move the meter to force change as much as other things do.

What things?

Do. NOT. Buy. Tickets.

Do. NOT. Purchase. Jerseys.

If you are disgruntled with Miami Dolphins LLC, you have to send a message to this business by approaching it in a business manner.

And if you do have to attend the games and purchase $10 beers and $18 sandwiches in the concession stand, then do it on a day when Stephen Ross is likely to be on the field. Arrive early to Miami's home games when Ross is roaming the sideline. And then boo him lustily or chant or otherwise voice displeasure so you get his attention.

In other words, deliver the message to the person with the power to change things. And let him know you are upset in an up-close-and-personal manner.

Golden State Warriors fans took that approach this week. And it is all over the national news. And it embarrassed Warriors owner Joe Lacob. And chances are really good he now understands how toxic he has made things with Golden State fans.

There were 18,000 people gathered at the Warriors' game and they rained down holy heck on Lacob. That is much, much, much more effective than 24 souls holding up signs across from the training facility ... while Ross is home in New York.

I believe there will be a lot of zone blocking this year in the Offensive line, and for that, you need more athletic than brute force Players.

Have a good one all. Got to get back to work.

I JUST CANCELLED MY SEASON TICKETS AND IT FELT GREAT!

We Have Draft Picks

i think more than a few guys took advantage of that vacation/lockout.dansby,paul s.,starks,to name a few...but i think jerry had a moment of illumination at the end.i am optimistic that an oline composed of long-incognito-pouncy-jerry-murtha can become solid now that our fistpumper has taken his "talents" to the jets....i can't wait to watch that freak show unfold

Philbin does not know what he wants

Philbin never picked the players b4

Philbin NEVER even called one offensive play for Green Bay in his entire tenure w the organization, that's why Green Bay won

Philbin is freakin bald inexperience HC that was an offensive coordinator NOT allowed to call ANY offensive plays

Another loser choice for the fish and Jeff the racist Ireland!

"According to the Associated Press, Alex Smith's new three-year deal with the 49ers contains $16.5 million in guarantees and could climb as high as $33 million.
Even as they held all of the leverage, the 49ers gave in quite a bit. While Smith is still likely to earn $8 million per season, the guarantees went up from a reported $10 million in the standing offer. It's fair to wonder if the Niners will regret not going with Colin Kaepernick and a veteran backup rather than overpaying for mediocrity."

Well...At least Ireland drove up the price on the Niners. Ha!!! They paid too much IMO & we'll see how Flynn pans out.

p.s.

Tebow reported he would play for any team but Miami.

Ireland is a Devil and a racist

Nobody of value will sign w Miami until the Devil Racist is fired

and reinstate Marshall & Bell

it was a racist firing!

In this day and age how can u have a racist that all black players hate run the Miami Dolphins?

Ireland must go!

It seems that Colin Kaepernick was a mistake.

home, is that you?.lol

U can see how Armando is leading into the fact that Jeff Ireland is a racist who hates black people.

Home agrees we need a Martin Luther King type march lead by Channing Crowder, Brandon Marshall and Y-Bell

Sad day to be a Miami Dolfan

unless your a member of the clan!

I like Philbin's conception of a good up-beat offence. Now, whether these dingos here will let him achieve it, is another matter.

Wrote a 21st century fight song for the dolphins. call it version3.wanna hear it...here it goes (sung to the tune of version1)

miami's got some dead wood they call a football team
they make me laugh, they make me cry, they make me want to scream.
what happened to our dolphins, they used to be the best.
but now we watch as jet fans laugh on the internet

cause we had
dave wannstedt's mustache
nick bubble satin
fall forward fast cam caMORON
and there was randy TOOLer
many samoans
and then big ruiner jerked us all

follow the williams sisters' bouncing ball, tune up yur banjo's,take out yer teeth and sing along...coda

words & music by calhoun tubbs...yeah!

Yes it's me

and I'm off the chain

Can u believe this racist SOB Jeff Ireland!

Firing are very best playas just because they are black?

and then getting us a busted up scrub token black
QB that has no chance cuz his spine was just operated on!

Give the black people a chance

this is humiliating!

Hahahahahaha, you've obviously neverfollowed the Warriors. I live very close to the Bay and the Warriors have been crappy for decades. Ownership doesn't and has never cared no matter who's owned the team. All of this complaining has been around since Hyzanga owned the team and people wanted him to sell the team, everyone cheered when ross came in and now like everyother owner you all want him to sell the team now. this franchise was killed by Parcells and his first 2 drafts no Ireland. Ireland has made some horrible mistakes but what do you expect from a GM trained by the most over rated coach/GM in football. Parcells took his money and ran thanks to Hyzanga who hired him to save this franchise and instead he hired a name that everyone cheered when he was hired.

The fans need to stop looking for names and start looking at player performance. Big names like Manning only bring a name not always their game. The A's and Giants built championship teams on a budget. Just look at the Marlins and their titles built on a budget. Better drafting and a few free agents hear and there can make all the difference not names.

The effectiveness of the protest all comes down to what Stephen Ross believes. If he knows that those 30 people represent millions of other Dolphin fans, then he just might wake up. Unfortunately, however, Ross's people have probably told him already that "it's just 30 people. all other fans love you." Ross simply does not understand how incredibly angry we all are.

Pat White never stood a chance w NFL sized players

Ireland only picked him cuz he new he would be crushed and thought his last name was funny, like an oxymoron

a black man named "White"

He then had "white" take his throwing gloves off, changed his entire throwing motion, gave him NO good WRs and made him run against the Steelers defense

Can u believe this racist Jeff Ireland

now he fires our two best black playas

This is Nuts!

it appears to be just me & the many faces of eve/cybil on here...i mean home...remember keep your heads up. we are the MIAMI FREAKING DOLPHINS. yeah we are in a down cycle.yeah we are not used to it(thanks Don for all the great years),but we went to the well and drew 2 guys with roots in the Packer tree.that earns them 3 years in my books.

for a 4th round pick

TEBOW TO JETS!!!!!!

TEBOW is gonna beat Miami AGAIN!!!!

I think Home grew some more hair on his black Asss.

if tebow to the jets is true good luck to a fine young man. i hate the jets, but if the phish want to be the best you gotta beat them all.tebow is the perfect wildcat weapon. maybe now tony will figure out something he never did in 4 years running it here....once in awhile YOU HAVE TO THROW THE FREAKIN ball out of the formation douche!

Sporano said he wants Tebow to run the Wildcat.

Hey Ross you can't deny the reports pouring out on your beloved GM. He is an asssclown that no one wants to play for. At this rate we may not be able to field a team in two or three years once most of our players' contracts are up because they will most likely leave.

BOYCOTT!!!!!

THIS IS A CLUSTER F U C K.

Ross and ireland bring in weeden and trade up for blackmon.....do what u gotta to make them shine in mia like they did in college

I applaud those 20-30 fans that protested yesterday. I would've been there if I hadn't been at work. Don't worry, the message will get to Ross one way or another. When he starts seeing his stadium seats empty, he'll get the message. Unfortunately for now we have to take it as it comes. Ireland is a dumb, sorry S.O.B. that has no clue about talent. And the thing that really boils me is that he will not come out on national news and address the fans as to what the hell is the plan in place. Its fine not to overpay for players but when you get a player in for an interview and he is the best player at the position, you pay him! Specially if its a position of need! But I guess Ross and ireland's plan is to build a championship team with flee market prices.
CHEAP BASTARDS!!!

I also applaud those fans who came after a little publicized call.
You want more fans?
Have fans gather every Saturday at noon and watch the crowds and protest grow.

ArWOMANdo,
Wipe Jeffy's jizz off your chin.
