Dolphins, Naanee agree on one-year deal

No, he's not a game-changer. No, he's not expected to replace Brandon Marshall.

But the Dolphins expect veteran experience and solid play out of Legedu Naanee after he signed a one-year deal with the club this morning. Naanee will compete for a roster spot.

So does this end Miami's need for wide receiver help in the draft? Probably not. But instead of drafting multiple receivers the Dolphins might now be in a position to not need to double down on the position as they previously have done at other positions such as cornerback.

To make that point, the Dolphins recently continued working out draft eligible receivers. The latest of these is University of Miami receiver Travis Benjamin, who worked out for the team.

Benjamin finished his career at UM with 2,146 receiving yards, one of only six players in school history to to eclipse 2,000 yards. He caught 41 passes for 609 yards in 2011. Benjamin also was an outstanding punt returner for Miami, avering 11 yards per return and served as the kick returner as well.

"I once saw Zach Thomas at Sawgrass Mills mall, I was in awe how small he was. If I'm 6ft he had to be 5'10 at most. I swear it looked like I could run him over.

He obviousley wasnt as big as his playing days but I just marveled how small he was but he was able to dominate in his hey day. Zach is a HOF whom I respect."

Clue,

No doubt. Now picture Zack Thomas at 6'3" & 245 pounds with 4.5 speed who can cover guys down the field--that's Kuechly. This kid is a baller!!!

fairlyodd,

"Where have you read the Dolphins will have trouble signing their draft picks? Totally not true. Send me the link on that one.

Also, can you send me the story quoting Ross as saying Ireland's head is in a noose? Total fabircation from the fanbase. The reality is that Ireland has Ross' full support, wouldn't take final personnel decisions away from him to hire Fisher and listens to what Parcells and Peterson have to say about him. Both guys are fully behind him. I'm sure the fanbase would love it to be the picture you're painting but that's just not reality."

Craig,

Once again I am telling you that I did not say in any way that I read that the Dolphins will have trouble signing their picks. I used simple logic and mathematics. If you have issues with money, especially funding availability for prospective employees, you have a problem. You have to restructure existing contracts and of course the restructuring would have to meet the approval of both sides in order for that to happen. The second course of action would be to down right cut the individual if he refuses a pay reduction or contract restructure in order to free up funds to sign prospective draftees. Do the math and then get back to me. As far as the situation concerning Ireland's employment with the franchise, well it is my personal opinion that he is in hot water. You don't have to look very far to find dirt on this man. His reputation is tarnished in league circles and player circles alike. The fan base in Miami for the most part thinks he is a bumbling idiot and I for one am saving my opinion for the end of this years draft. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt now that he is no longer advised by Parcells, whom I believe started the landslide of disgrace here in Miami in the first place. I never trusted the man and I believe he left this franchise in much worse shape when he left than when he started. He got a sweet deal and made sure he had a back door clause in his contract. He took his money and ran right back into retirement.

While Kuechly may end up being a stud at LB #8 is still too high to draft him. I would drop back a few picks and take him. The Eagles supposedly want to move up to draft Cox. Why not trade back with the Eagles, pick up an additional #3 and #5 or so and take Kuechly there??

No Balls,

I'd love if Ireland did that but who says Kuechly is going to be there??? Ireland is probably locked in a room salivating all over Coples' Senior Day work out.

As weird as Pete Carroll is (& he's a f#cking freak) I don't see Kuechly getting past the Seahawks. I truly hope he takes Tannehill to go with Flynn & Tavaris.

No exaggeration--if we draft Tannehill I'm going to be physically ill.

Fairlyodd,

The team went 1-15 the year before Parcells got here. How can you say the team has not improved??? Six wins is more than 1 win isn't it???

Not sure how long you've been a fan but the Dolphin landslide goes ALL the way back to the days of Wannstadt. If you want to puke go check out some of his draft picks okay???

Y'all are still crying for a qb. Matt Moore in his first season as a Phin is rated number 12 in the NFL. Tannehill my butt. Weeden for sure if he is there and we pick up a late second.
To win the AFC East you need to beat the Pats. How did the Giants beat the Pats? Defense. We need a couple of guys and plays that keep Brady and the little smurfs quiet. Then we have to play sound football on offense.
So draft a couple of lineman, one to kill Brady and the other to protect Moore. Easy peesee

Okay, Zach might get in the Dolphins HOF ring. Too many other players similar to him did not get in the Canton HOF.

Does this look like CANTON HOF material?

You guys are basing Zach on Dolphin stats. Not NFL stats.

Oh yeah, Dan got a nod because he led in all categories of the game. Dan has no ring. Zach has no ring. Therefore, Zach needs to have STATS that back up his HOF induction.

I don't see it happening. He might get in on his third try. However, it will be a weak HOF field if he does.

Tannehill sucks in the clutch. All that needs to be said.

Dave's winning career record of 42-31 is by far the best combined record for a coach for the Miami Dolphins since Don Shula left and he took over for a coach that basically ruined what was left of Dan Marino's career in Miami that culminated with a 62-7 drubbing in the playoffs. Dave came along as mop-up and his teams finished the 2000 and 2001 seasons with 11-5 records respectively. The 2002 season ended with a 9-7 record, followed by a 10-6 season culminating in his 4-12 mid-season resignation in 2004. In those five seasons, Wannstedt took the team into the playoffs twice. Now how can you dispute that? He may have not had the most talent, but he sure got the most out of it. We have not seen the playoffs since the "wildcat" season and that was only a fluke. I have been a fan since I was 8 years old and I am now 51. I have been a season ticket holder for this franchise since 1982. I have seen them come and go here, I have seen worse, and I have seen better. To blindly say that "Wanny" was a terrible coach is simply just wrong. We have had much worse since then and our record shows it. I believe Parcells to be a crook and a poser. Nick Saban in my eyes was no better of a liar than Parcells and his career record at Miami was 15-17, he also took the money and ran.

why are we quick t down very move the team makes , they are oly filling holes until draft ay. why dontwe wait for te draft and see what direction they take before we start to jump off the bridge here.yes we need receivers and we also have some young ones without any plaing time so that signing today for me is okay

In my opinion i think the phins should get a receiver or de with the 8th pick, then pick Weeden but Im telling you guys now Russell Wilson is a great qb, i have seen him play several times, his height didnt bother him behind that huge line in Wisonsin, they compare him to brees and we all no we f uped on brees, so why not take the chance in the 3rd round!

I'm not an expert like you guys but I hope Travis Benjamin makes the team He's got a lot of talent and SPEED...man he"s fast...

chris rainey is a better prospect

he'll compete for a roster spot??? fantastic! where can i order my Super Bowl XLVII merchandise?

Please Ireland do NOT draft Streeter. It'd be a big mistake IMO. Benjamin OTOH might, if we could get him in the later rounds, would be a good pickup b/c he is a good punt returner and Kickoff returner and would instantly be the fastest Dolphin on the team. Just want to say I am a Canes fan but I am a realist. So draft Greg Childs from Arkansas and anyone else but Streeter. Maybe Benjamin.
