Michael Floyd among those on the Dolphins radar, visiting

We already knew the Dolphins have been closely scrutinizing Justin Blackmon because he's considered the top wide receiver prospect in the coming NFL draft. The club has been at his pro day, has interviewed him and had a visit scheduled with him.

The club is also doing the same work on Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd, considered by many a superior wide receiver talent to Blackmon. Floyd said on Sirius radio he will visit with the Dolphins next week after meeting with them previously at the Indianapolis Combine.

Floyd said he would visit with the Tennessee Titans, St. Louis Rams, New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals this week. He met with Carolina and Cleveland last week and conducted a private workout with Philadelphia.

Floyd confirmed he is scheduled to visit the Dolphins, Cardinals, 49ers and Vikings next week.

Floyd is supremely talented, has been a high-production player at Notre Dame but comes with an obvious red flag.

After receiving a citation for drunken driving on March 20, 2011, Floyd was suspended indefinitely from the team on March 21, 2011. The suspension was lifted August 3, 2011, allowing him to return to the team without missing the 2011-12 season.

He started every game and caught 100 passes for 1,147 yards and 9 touchdowns. Floyd contends his arrest was a one-time thing and he is now focused on staying out of trouble and getting in the NFL.

The list of known Dolphins visits according to sources and ProFootballtalk.com are as follows:

WR: Blackmon, Floyd, Iowa State's Darius Reynolds.

DL: South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram, LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers, North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples.

OL: Ole Miss offensive tackle Bobby Massie, Iowa State offensive tackle Kelechi Osemele, Miami (Ohio) guard Brandon Brooks, Miami center Tyler Horn, Rutgers guard Desmond Wynn.

RB: Pittsburgh running back Zach Brown, Appalachian State running back Travaris Cadet.

DB: Montana defensive back Trumaine Johnson, Virginia Tech cornerback Jayron Hosley, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, Wisconsin CB Antonio Fenelus, Albion cornerback Chris Greenwood, LSU safety Brandon Taylor,

LB: Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David, West Virginia linebacker Bruce Irvin.

TE: Louisiana-Lafayette tight end Ladarius Green, Cincinnati tight end Adrien Robinson.

QB: Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler, Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill.

Our first and most important position to fill is a PASS RUSHER..Coples or Ingram at 8..wait for receiver in 2nd round..unless Tannehill is somebody they believe they can turn into a franchise QB(Sherman should know)

i agree w/coach philbin's philosophy on FA's. These are usually guys who played hard for a pay day, got it, and were never the same. we have had some hits like starks and mcdaniels on the d line but the rest haven't lived up to the hype.(wake is an exception because he played hard to get into the league then kept playing hard to prove he belonged)

If Coples gets past Jaksonville grab him..but I doubt he will be there at 8..so Ingram it is..ya Sherman knows Tannehill best so Dolphins will know if they can develope him..Floyd or Blackmon sound good but receivers are a dime a dozen these days you can still get good ones in later rounds 2 or 3..we need a pass rusher BADLY..we play Brady twice and if you don't get to him..well we know what he'll do to you..

Like they interviewed Adrien Robinson, he will be a steal with a 6/7th round pick at TE.

1. Tannehill, QB
1. Coby Fleener, TE (trade up)
3. Derek Wolfe, DT/DE
4. Tommy Streeter, WR
5. AJ Jenkins, WR
6. Desmond Wynn, OG
7. Adrien Robinson, TE
UND: Cordarro Law, LB; Sean Cattouse, S

TigerSam, Quit overvauling Tannehill, we need a pass rusher with the first pick, they arent a dime a dozen ya know.

WE SHOULD GIVE T.O A TRY.

The Jags better pray Gabbert doesnt get injured! LOL

Henne > Gabbert.... Henne will become a pro bowler

TGH:

I'M BETTER THAN EVERY QB ON YOUR ROSTER COMBINED.

Henne's friggin pathetic. I wanted them to bring him back so we'd have someone to boo! LOL

I initially felt (and posted such) that this organization lost ground during the free-agency. Part of this assessment can be attributed to front office blunders such as this:

Bell was often a ferocious hitter, although less than admirable coverage man. Replacing him with the self-admitted, "85% healed" Viking reject, T. Johnson is just par for the course. Hello Columbo, anyone?

The fact that many of the better FA's simply refused to come here was another set-back to the Dolphins.

I hope that we are able to do extremely well in the upcoming draft, but, this might take years before we fully know our drafts full potential.

So many fickle fans here are ready to write off our draftees after their rookie season. I say give Gates and Thomas at least two more years to put on more muscle, a more masculine attitude, and of course, experience.

I do look forward to our new coaching staff, players and next season.

I bet we will be above .500 at week 8...

YOU FANS BLAMED ME FOR BRANDON'S DROP TDs.

YOU BLAMED ME FOR THE D GIVING UP OVER 600 YARDS AGINST N.E.

YOU BLAMED ME FOR THE BROWNS TD TO WIN THAT GAME. EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T ON THE FIELD.

YOU BLAME ME FOR LOSING TO THE BRONCOS EVEN THOUGH WE WERE UP BY 15 WITH 3 MINUTES AND I DIDN'T EVEN PLAY.

AFTER I TAKE JAX TO THE PLAYOFFS YOU WILL BE CHANTING TO BRING ME BACK.

MATT MOORE? HA HA HA.

THAT GUY WAS MY BACK UP.

ENJOY ANOTHER 10 YEARS AT THE BOTTOM.

Sherman has ALREADY tried developing Tannehill.

He and his entire staff were shyt canned for their efforts.

Tannehill was a HIGHLY recruited QB coming out of High School. He went into a program with a FAMOUS Coach known for finding and developing big time QB's.

Whether you're Pro Tannehill or not, think about it. Sherman probably WILL NOT gamble away his latest NFL gig trying to develop a guy he already put 4 years into.

I just don't see any scenario in which Sherman will want to put his career on the line for Tannehill. You remember the old addage:

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on Shermie(something like that ;)

Henne made Matt Moore look like Joe Montana. LOL

DOLPHINS FANS REALLY KNOW TALENT.

DAN TOOK YOU TO ONE SUPER BOWL GOT BLOWN OUT AND HE'S YOUR HERO.

WHAT LOSERS.

odin.... WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO COME AND JOIN US @ OHIO NEW FOOTBALL SITE ?

HENNE IS THE VICTIM ..............

MOORE IS THE GOAT................

Michael Floydd did NOT have 3 drunk drivings as someone posted last night.

He was charged with underage drinking(M.I.P)initially and then caught a DUI last March.

Definitely not good things, but not enough to just blindly pass on the Kid either.

How many of you guys drank before you were of legal age? Did you ever get behind the wheel after a few to many?

I think it has to be looked at and taken into consideration. But lets not blow things out of proportion every chance we get.

PS: Michael, just don't drink on game day. You can hit up the tailgaters on your way out. **AFTER THE GAME**

I agree DC & Andy....IF Tannehill is there and IF Philbin and Sherman believe he has the true potential to BECOME a strong NFL QB then they should take him in the first round.

I think Moore/Garrard will be fine for this coming season. IF Tannehill is there and IF the coaches are on board with him I say take him and SIT him for the ENTIRE year.

I like Coples and I like some of the other Offensive players who might be there at 8. But it's rare for an NFL team to have this much inside knowlege on a QB prospect. IF the coaches believe in Tannehill then the Fins need to take the gamble and go for their shot at a franchise QB.

with the draft coming up rather soon, stephen ross has an important question he must find the answer to, he has two weeks to do so, then he must wait for ticket revenue to see if he answered the question correctly. the question is "what makes fans watch football?" most loyal fans started watching their team for a certain reason and then continued to follow the same team as a good story, myself, i started watching the dolphins when i was small, i liked the helmet, and then came the perfect season. i believe most dolphans are of this very mold or something similar, as miami has not done anything to lure new fans to it's base. ross needs to give new fans a REASON to watch his team so they too will begin following the story of what is THE MIAMI DOLPHINS. in my opinion, there are a lot of miami fans out there that have stayed away simply because they aren't a very exciting team and their team has a hard time winning, but what about NEW fans, what compells people to watch a certain team, what will bring the old fans back? to me, there is no better an instrument to achieve this then an unstoppable force, exerting his will against a defense, enter BARRY SANDERS, i loved to watch barry run, i was NOT a lions fan but i watched me some barry every chance i got. now what would happen to miami's inactive fan base if all of a sudden they got a barry sanders? i know miami has big needs to fill, but in my opinion ross has no bigger need then to fill his stadium, and a DOMINATING run game would be just what the doctor ordered. no knock on reggie, but he is a different kind of back, he is NOT dominating. if miami could somehow manage to get richardson and floyd, ross could begin to turn things around, and what if ross tops that with a trade for RYAN MALLET. i know, you don't have to tell me, i'm just dreaming again.

budki,,

Where did you go to school? Didn't you learn about things like forming paragraphs and capital letters?

Most people don't even read past your first sentence because your writing style so awful.

Because your writing style so awful? And you're asking people where they went to school. Boy you're as stupid as they come.

And what do you know what most people do? What a loser, I'm sure your friends with people in here and they tell you how they feel about other posters writing styles? You're so pathetic you little coward, go change your name again.

Don't write more than one sentence, Lees and all of the other pathetic names he uses to hide from accountability can't understand anything after the first period.

No one wants to coach the Saints so I guess according to people in here that would make them losers.

Don't write more than one sentence, Lees and all of the other pathetic names he uses to hide from accountability can't understand anything after the first period.

i know miami has big needs to fill, but in my opinion ross has no bigger need then to fill his stadium, and a DOMINATING run game would be just what the doctor ordered. no knock on reggie, but he is a different kind of back, he is NOT dominating. if miami could somehow manage to get richardson and floyd, ross could begin to turn things around, and what if ross tops that with a trade for RYAN MALLET. i know, you don't have to tell me, i'm just dreaming again.with the draft coming up rather soon, stephen ross has an important question he must find the answer to, he has two weeks to do so, then he must wait for ticket revenue to see if he answered the question correctly. the question is "what makes fans watch football?" most loyal fans started watching their team for a certain reason and then continued to follow the same team as a good story, myself, i started watching the dolphins when i was small, i liked the helmet, and then came the perfect season. i believe most dolphans are of this very mold or something similar, as miami has not done anything to lure new fans to it's base. ross needs to give new fans a REASON to watch his team so they too will begin following the story of what is THE MIAMI DOLPHINS. in my opinion, there are a lot of miami fans out there that have stayed away simply because they aren't a very exciting team and their team has a hard time winning, but what about NEW fans, what compells people to watch a certain team, what will bring the old fans back? And hey stupid, you're using someone else's name but misspelling it. Must be a product of the Florida school system. Go change your name again.

"I like to be fukk all day long by my man!"

And the gay jokes are coming now. Because in this dummies mind being gay is something to be embarrassed about. Boy you sure got me. Please don't call me gay, it's so offensive. Ignorance is bliss, go change your name again.

"DE Cameron Wake was absent from the beginning of Dolphins OTAs Tuesday."

I'm hardly ever in favor of players holding out BUT I think Wake has earned an extension. I also believe that Randy Starks deserves one as well. Ownership has to start showing that they appreciate the players who have continued to play well even when our teams have played horribly at times in the last 2-3 years. If Wake is NOT given an extension & he holds out then I believe the negative press will get so loud & so bitter surrounding this team both locally & nationally that SOMETHING will have to give.

As for extending Jake Long, I believe that's a different scenario. He's been beat up the last couple of seasons & I personally I wouldn't be willing to break the bank on him today. However if he stays healthy this season & he's proven that he's bounced back from his injuries then absolutely--at the end of the season--give him an extension.

Odinseye,

Sherman was fired b/c his defense was terrible & he lost games early in the season where he blew substantial leads to Oklahoma State & Arkansas

It had nothing to do with his offense or Tannehill who will almost definitely be a top ten pick.

Mando,

You are giving away the team draft secrets to other teams. Just saying..

As long as they are visiting the Dolphins and the Dolphins aren't going to their home to visit, then all of these reports are positive signs...lol...
Keep Ross' helicopter and plane on the ground and we just might sign some of these guys!

Morris Claiborne seems to be the best of the bunch. Hopefully, this guy will turn out better than Vontae Davis.
