Jason Taylor on Seau: 'A leader of men'

Jason Taylor was also part of the Dolphins defense when Junior Seau was traded to the team in 2003.

Seau, who had a way of acting like he knew you even when he didn't, obviously was that way with teammates as well as reporters.

As Taylor remembers:

"I'm shocked and saddened," Taylor said. "Devastated, really. Junior was one of the most positive, uplifting people I have ever known. He was always full of life and energy and had an infectious spirit that lifted everyone around him. Junior called everyone "buddy" and treated them like he had known them forever. It would be easy for me to say he was a great friend and teammate, and a tremendous competitor, but that would be selling Junior short.

"Junior Seau was an individual of great honor and integrity, a leader of men and someone with a deep rooted passion for giving of himself to make the people, the community and especially the children around him better. This is an immeasurable loss for so many. My heart and prayers go out to Junior's family, Gina and their children. I'm going to miss you, buddy."

It is a tragedy that Junior Seau is no longer with us and he will be missed. But for such a leader of men to commit suicide with children is the most cowardly thing a human being can do. My prayers go out to his family and especially children.

No balls, you have no balls. Show a little respect and let people grieve.

From the last Blog:

Phins78,

Whats up? Should I assume you're not going to apologize for your comments to me during the draft?

I thought you and I were GOOD?

I'm a passionate fan, I wasn't trolling during the draft or attacking anyone. I was sick over what I thought(at the time), was IN MY OPINION the worst draft pick ever made on behalf of the Miami Dolphins.

I always enjoyed your posts because of the thought and intelligence that shows up in them. Even when we've disagreed on issues, I always respected your right to your opinion. I thought you would do the same for me in return.

I wasn't antagonizing anyone, I wasn't taunting. I was posting my honest passionate OPINION. Nothing more. I was shook up over the pick to say the least. After having read your comment to me, I turned off the NFL Draft for the first time in my life and even quit blogging for the night.

I don't know what you thought I was doing, but believe me, I would never attack you in that manner because you were posting your Gods Honest OPINION. Even if we were diametrically opposed to the worst possible degree.

I quit posting that night and have re-grouped. The only lingering problem I have is you attacking me over my honest OPINION. Especially after how long we've been cool on this board.

I would feel a lot better if you apologized for the one single comment. For outrightly attacking me because I had a differing opinion from your own.

If you were a troll, or just another poster, I wouldn't even care. Coming from you though, it kind of stuck me in the heart.

Do the right thing Phins78.

Whaddaya Say?

Nice words from JT.

Junior made some purely awesome lifetime memories in so many peoples lives.

Especially in the lives of Children.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for the kind of human being Junior Seau was.

Can't say it enough: R.I.P.

Thanks for keeping in touch and keeping us up to date during this tragedy.

ODIN....... WHAT MAKES A GUY WHO KILLS HIMSELF A HERO ?

YG trying to back track as No Balls at 9:13.

Talk about having No Balls. He has to change his screen name just to post his opinion.

YG, this is further testement to your mild retardation and lack of couth.

As cowardly of an act as you think this is, do you really feel this is the time or place? Apparently you have no common sense whatsoever. Believe me, it's apparent.

The body hasn't even cooled down yet. His Family is in COMPLETE shock. The sports world is in shock. Yet here you are trying to play Mr. Smart and Important by blurting out the most ignorant and inappropiate things to say.

I wonder why Wanny, Zach and JT aren't commenting on how cowardly Junior is? Could it be because they're not anywhere near a pathetic simpleton as you are.

Speaking of cowards, I know damn well you wouldn't have said of any of this BS to his face when he was alive.

Leave it to YG to talk ignorant, dumbass bullshyt behind the back of a Dead Man! Kick a man while he's down? Not YG, he'll kick your corpse before an autopsy can even be performed.

You freaking toad, what if, on the outside chance that initial reports were wrong, it turns out he was murdered? Forget it, the mildly retarded wouldn't even get the question.

Just out of curiosity, how many Childrens lives have you touched in a fraction of the POSITIVE way Seau did?

Off topic for a moment, but I've been watching a terrific NBC special about the killing of Bin Laden a year ago today.

Thank you, Mr. President and our amazing military for finally ridding the world of this demon after so many years of futile efforts. You rock!

ODIN....... WHAT MAKES A GUY WHO KILLS HIMSELF A HERO ?

Apparently Iguanna isn't "Brain Food".

So, in your eyes Seau is just a guy that killed himself?

Jaymesh, that's why you lost the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812!

Posted by: redsky | May 02, 2012 at 08:33 PM

======================

Someone needs to brush up on their history.

Contrary to what many seem to believe, the U.S. did NOT win the War of 1812. It ended in a ceasefire with the Treaty of Ghent, and the Americans were forced to make significant territorial concessions as part of the agreement.

You're hardly alone in having this common misperception of events, but I'm just trying to correct you--not make you look bad.

BUFF............ IN 1812 THE US TRICKED THE ENEMY ,THE US GAVE FEW CONCESSIONS TO BECOME THE ONLY SUPER POWER IN THE WORLD TODAY ............

I think Seau can still beat out Misi for the LB position.

ODIN.......... ANY PERSON WHO KILLS HIMSELF ,CONSIDERED AS A KILLER OF ANOTHER HUMAN .............

"Tricked the enemy?" Was that before or after the British burned Washington to the ground and our entire government had to flee in panic?

Again, it's ancient history and clearly the U.S. did alright in the ensuing years (with Britain as a staunch ally) but anyone who thinks we Americans won the War of 1812 simply doesn't know history.

BUFF.... WE LOST THE BATTLE BUT WE WON THE WAR.....................

THE TRICKING CAME AFTER WE LOST THAT BATTLE ......

If Joey Porter killed himself Armando would take 4 days to write 1 blog. Let alone 4 blogs in one day.

ALoco Im with you, suicide is a cowardly act, nothing hroic about it.

juniorseau.org/
(Google it)

Enuff Said(In my opinion).

The Junior Seau Foundation

To educate and empower young people through the support of child abuse prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, recreational opportunities, anti-juvenile delinquency efforts and complimentary educational programs.

This is just one of the charities he supports/founded.

There are many more.

What is more important than our children?

Seau had some psychological problems that got away from him. In my opinion, this HARDLY negates all the great things he accomplished in his short time with us.

If you really want to know what makes him a Hero, just ask some of the THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of Children that have benefitted from his various programs, foundations and charities.

-If there is a special place in Hell for those that commit sins against the Children

Then surely there is a special place in Heaven for people like Junior Seau-

YG.......WE LIVE IN A CLTURE WHERE WE CALL A GUY WHO KILLS HIMSELF A HERO AS ZACK THOMAS CALLS HIM ...............

WE LIVE IN A CLTURE WHERE THE MEDIA GIVE A VOICE FOR ALL THE SPORT PEOPLE AND CALL THEM ALL KIND ON NICE NAME AND TITLES LIKE HERO AR CHAMP........

DID ZACK THOMAS WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL ?

Money doesnt buy happiness, but, you sure can be buried in grand style. Seau will at least have a $50,000 funeral.

ODIN........ ALL THESE FAMOUS PEOPLE HAVE FOUNDATION ONLY FOR TAXES REASONS .........

Suicide is neither heroic OR cowardly. It is simply a result of utter desperation, helplessness, and a feeling it will never end.

Unless you have experienced severe depression (I haven't) or have had loved ones who suffered with it (I have) I don't see how you could possibly comment on something so very personal with even an ounce of knowledge about it. You may as well be posting about nuclear physics or brain surgery.

AT LEAST HE GOT A RING WHEN PATS WON THE SB WITH HIM ON THE TEAM ,...

ALoco,

This is actually the 2nd time Seau tried to kill himself. This time he succeeded.

2010, Seau drove off of a highway embankment after a domestic dispute with his wife. He ended up suffering only minor injuries. After today I believe he was trying to take his life then, only failing.

A LEADER OF MEN ,MY AZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ//.........

I DON'T WANT MY LEADER TO KILL NO BODY EVEN HIMSELF .......

Killing yourself so your children have no father is cowardly. Junior Seau may be a hero to many. He was a great football player and a great human being. But to the people it matters most to his family and especially his children he has failed.

Suicide is never the answer.

He was a hero to a lot of people and greats such as Thomas and Taylor. I think the whole brain damage situation in the nfl is what killed him. He was a great dolphin.

Junior seau
1969-2012

Louie actually he sucked as a Dolphin but was a nice guy

ALoco Im with you, suicide is a cowardly act, nothing hroic about it.

Sorry YG, but again, you post some of the DUMMIEST stuff known to Mankind.

You say you're with ALoco(of all people-lol), but the point is(the point you dolts always seem to miss is this)NOBODY, outside of you and ALoco have even mentioned suicide and hero in the same sentence.

Bhwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

You freaking dumbass Homer, besides you and ALoco, who else has a controvery over suicide being heroic?

Sometimes you're just too freaking stupid too even talk too.

PS: BTW, another point you're too stoopid to get, ALoco is making fun of you, yet you think he's agreeing with you about something.

******************************************************
*****BREAKING NEWS - THIS JUST IN - BREAKING NEWS*****
******************************************************

Thanks to the sheer genius of Flipper Breed and ALoco the Iguanna Eater, inside sources are reporting that they BOTH have figured out the fact that suicide is NOT Heroic!

Who Woulda Thunk It?

Bhwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Fake Odin at 10:24.

A MAN DIED TRAGIC DEATH...... MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT FOOTBALL CRAP IS HE LEAVING HIS KIDS WITHOUT A DAD ..... I HOPE HE HAS BIG LIFE INSURANCE ,,,,,,,

F-ck Zack, F-ck JT. Seau isnt any damn hero. How many f-cking wars did he fight in?

Saying Seau is a hero is as silly as Joey Porter dressing up in military fatigues saying football is war.

Didnt Armando absolutey grill Joey Porter for that?

YG....... WE KNOW ARMANDO DINES IN JT'S HOUSE ONCE A MONTH ......

(( LEADER OF MEN )) ............MY FOOT ,...

Hey yesterday's gone everyone has there own opinions

ODIN........ ALL THESE FAMOUS PEOPLE HAVE FOUNDATION ONLY FOR TAXES REASONS .........

Posted by: ALoco | May 02, 2012 at 10:12 PM

Stephen Ross owns the Dolphins "ONLY FOR TAXES REASONS".

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooouch - LOL!

How many of these "FAMOUS PEOPLES" have foundations that benefit our Children?

I'd say the "HEROIC" ones.

I could be wrong though, ask Jim Kelley, Bernie Kosar and Dan Marino their thoughts on this.

Only one man I'll ever call my hero. That's Jesus Christ.

LOUIEZACH.................. MOST BLOGGERS HERE ARE UNDER EDUCATED AND DIDN'T FINISH HIGH SCHOOL .......

If Ricky Williams shot himself Mandy wouldn't utter a word. His bible teaching don't allow him to accept someone who has smoked marijuana as a human being.

Ok well seau was a hero to a lot of people though

Odin,

Hey dumass, all rich peopleeither donate or have a charitable foundation. Its called a "TAX SHELTER" stupid. LOL

AND LOLT OF PEOPLE WATCH HSN ...........

Listen I'm just saying and I don't want to start an argument over a very tragic topic but seau was a great man who didn't deserve to die

2010, Seau drove off of a highway embankment after a domestic dispute with his wife. He ended up suffering only minor injuries. After today I believe he was trying to take his life then, only failing.

Heroes don't beat women.

Well what do you think of junior seau

LOUI.............. I DIDN'T THINK OF JUNIOR SEAU ....I HAVE A LIFE .......

YES, STICK WITH ARMANDO. HE KNOWS WHAT REAL WAR IS ALL ABOUT. I WOULD TAKE ARMANDO'S WORD OVER GEN. GEORGE S. PATTON.

Don't be a jerk about im just asking of how you thought of him as a player

F-ck Zack, F-ck JT. Seau isnt any damn hero. How many f-cking wars did he fight in?

THIS SOME KIND OF WORLD RECORD FOR MISSING POINT.

THERE IS FATHERLESS CHILDREN TONIGHT CRYING FOR THE LOSS OF THEIR LOVED ONE.

FLIPPER BREED TALKING JOEY PORTER GETTING REEMED BY ARMANDO.

HOW HE MISS MOST ALL SINGLE POINTS ALL TIME?

LOUI......... I WATCHED HIM WHEN THE PATS SIGNED HIM AND HE WAS A HIT WITH THE FANS HERE IN BOSTN ..THEY LOVED HIM ..................

Do you know how bad it is to know somebody that has killed themselves my big brother had a friend that killed himself

The pats loved him

i wonder if dinosaurs smelled each other's butts the way dogs do?

i have heard that mamie eisenhower used to smell the butts of every guest at the white house.

That is so random

Odinseye, just read your comment at the top. I don't remember exactly what happened and I really don't feel like reading back. I know I came at someone posting under your name and I know that the person I had the problem with was being a complete d**che. I have never had a problem with you either which is why I was so surprised at some of the things you were saying. The posts were waaayyyy over the top,,,and I know it because otherwise I wouldn't have said a thing.

I remember a bunch of us talking, a pick would come in, we would rationally discuss our likes and dislikes about the pick, and then someone posting under your name in the middle of that screamin and yelling and ranting about how it was the worst pick in the world and how we are doomed. No objectivity, just ranting,,,EVERY PICK.

I wasn't the only one who was getting annoyed and others said things too. None as colorful as me I grant you but there it is. I don't know if someone was impersonating you, if they were I'm sorry I didn't realize it but you know how that goes. If that was you I'm not apologizing for being annoyed but I apologize if I said anything offensive or hurtful.

One of my favourite players of all time, of any era. Really saddened by this news today. Took a while for it to sink on with me.

So, I have no evidence of anything, obviously. But what makes a 43 year old male, with all that money in the bank, who supposedly loves his family, do something like that. I have only two possibilities. One would be steroids and the other would be too many hits to the head. I obviously have no evidence of this, it just makes you stop and wonder. They've seen some of the same stuff happen in hockey in the last couple of years. Is it one or both or neither? Don't actually, know....just saying the leagues need to take a long, hard look at what's going on in their sports. The world lost a great player today and from all accounts a great player....sad day!

Junior seau was one of the best players to ever play the gane

To play the game
