Dolphins talking trade for Anthony Armstrong

Three years ago Anthony Armstrong was discarded by the Miami Dolphins because he wasn't good enough to make it on the team. Today they are working to trade for the wide receiver to upgrade their corps of pass-catchers.

The Dolphins are in talks to trade Steve Slaton to the Redskins in exchange for Armstrong, according to a league source and as reported by multiple credible media outlets.

But this is just talk at this moment, folks. Nothing is done yet.

The rumored trade of Matt Moore, meanwhile, is merely that at this moment. Matt Moore right now is a Miami Dolphins quarterback. As for David Garrard, his status is simple. If he's healthy, he stays. If he's not, he goes. That according to a team source.

And the decision doesn't have to be made until next week.

The Dolphins have made about a dozen moves so if you wish to check on those click on the link.

how is it Ireland's fault Armstrong didn't make the field w/ TS? !

What does that even matter? We need a #1 & #2 WR. Not ANOTHER acorn #3-6 type!

You guys are hilarious. You cry and moan and pizz and complain that we cut the clown Chad Johnson but we give up a guy that is on our fourth team for a guy with identical production over the last two years for a guy that is faster and several years younger with a lot less tread on the tires and you still moan and complain.

We are better team affter this move plain and simple and you still complain. Unbelievable. You guys suck ... period.

Why not trade for Brandon Marshall while we're at it?

The truth is,

Apparently you've got it all figured out. So why don't you impart your wisdom on us how we get a #WR at this stage of the game. We're listening.....

This ought to be fun....

Toronto, you suck. Getting your panties bunched over a trade that hasn't even been made yet.

The only ones that still defend Irescum are Jests fans.

Armstrong was cut for a reason...just like gates and wallace are gone now...in order for miami to move on, wouldnt that involve not trading for former players that didnt make this roster before and likely not even really considered to be good enough to stick around with the deadskins..with the exception of miles austin and wes welker, this isnt exactly addressing the BIG thing in upgrade....why not James Jones who has more potential than Anthony Armstrong who we already know about!!!

"Jesse Agler ‏@finsjesse

Tori Gurley reportedly being released by GB. One of those Packers WRs we've discussed for weeks. Name to know.
Retweeted by Armando Salguero"

Mando,

Now THIS would have been a WR to give up a late round pick for. This is of course assuming that Philbin liked what he saw from this kid last year. Now that he's been waived teams like the Rams, the Browns, & the Jaguars who also need WR's can claim him before we do.

superPHIN,

Who said James Jones was ever available? Have you heard GB say they would trade him?

You do realize it's Steve Slaton we are offering, right? Fourth on the depth chart. This guy is not a Pro Bowler. Little perspective here guys...

Its musical chairs for scrubs at the Miami Dolphin circus.

Tori Gurley??? WTF is Tori Gurley? Is this the one who was on 90210? Yeah OK....Tori Gurley is going to make or break our season. Gilyard from Philly? Who? You're the same guys who said all our problem would be solved by adding a burner like Gates....how did that work out?

Dwayne Harris Dallas (Trade??)

Jabbar Gaffney Free Agent

Cris Cooley Free Agent

James Jones (Trade??)

Donte Stallworth (Free Agent)

All better options than Anthony Armstrong coming to miami

Looking forward to Gate's return to the team in 2015.....after another team develops him.....

Very impatient young Fans here, aren't they?

Philbin and Sherman are being gracious toward Ireland but the fact is they inherited an extremely weak and dysfunctional roster and are scrambling just to be able to line up against other NFL teams. Ireland looks pretty incompetent across the board right now.

CraigM, a few things smart guy:

A. You're terrible at sarcasm
B. I established about 2 weeks ago that I think you're a baffoon.
C. Reading your posts is a trivial futile exercise.

On to Ireland. I wouldn't make a trade at all.

Besides, why are you asking me? I'm not the one who said "we have 4-6's, we need 1 & 2's". That's what your BOY IRELAND SAID.

Why don't you ask him why he's looking for another acorn 3-6 wr type instead of pursuing a #1 or 2 type?

Armstrong does not fill the need. What's the point of adding him & losing Slaton over it? I'd rather have an experienced RB backing up injury prone rb's Bush & Thomas than ANOTHER acorn WR.

Now, hopefully you learned something. Predictibally however, you'll get all pissy & start whining about the negaitivty, as per the usual.

Actually CRaig,

They have reported that they would be interested in parting ways with jones for maybe a 2nd or third round pick...The real question is miami even exploring the possiblity???

Some of you guys would be better off with 'I'm a Girlie' on the back of your shirts. Tori Gurley....LOL.

Clyde Gates is cut. Thanks Irescum.

Mark...

te trade hasn't happened yet...

abd BTW....

How many examples can you reel off when a player came back to a team...and had a memorable go @ it.....

I'll wait...I got a feeling you will be googling this for a while......

how did that work out?

L-O-S-E-R

KRIS,

WE SHOULD BE LIKE THE PATS,IF A DRAFT PICK DOESN'T SHOW PROMISE IN THE FIRST YEAR ,HE SHOULD BE SEND TO EXILE......

NOTICE , HOW MANY YOUNG LOUSY PLAYERS WE HAVE AND NEVER PROVED TO BE ANY GOOD AFTER 3-4 YEARS LIKE;;;;;;;;

FASANO
HARTLINE
BESS
GATES
D.THOMAS ..............THEY ALL SHOULD HAVE GONE TO EXILE 2 YEARS AGO....

Some people REALLY need to take their meds...

Irescum will give ANOTHER draft pick for Gates in a couple years.

superPHIN,

I've yet to hear that the Packers would consider trading Jones. What I've read is that they have no interest in trading their number 3 WR. Why would they? Would you do the trade if you were the Dolphins for a 2nd round pick? I wouldn't. Jones is OK but wouldn't you rather draft a kid in April 1st or 2nd round?

Clyde Gates jerseys on sale!

Also some Brandon Marshall and Chad Henne jerseys left over too. On sale now!

Also Mark....

The redskins spent heavily in FA to UPGRADE the position ABOVE the level That Anthony Armstrong brought to the field...

Now that they feel they have done that....Armstrong is expendable....

Chad Johnson played @ a high level in this league for the 1st 10 years of his career....

I doubt you knew or even remembered who Anthony Armstrong was until reading this article....

Yeah, I'm the one that sucks, Mr Anonymous. GO FUKK YOURSELF LOSER!

Marlon Moore is the exact same player as A. Armstrong.

Would make no sense to bring him in.

Either cough up the high pick & get another team to trade away a talented WR or just raid the scrap heep of cut players.

NO MORE SCRUBS!

CRAIG,,,,,,,, I WOULD NOT WANT TO DRAFT A KID IN APRIL OR 2nd ROUND ..........

AS LONG AS ,OUR GARAGE MANAGER IS IN CHARGE,WE R GOING TO LIVE IN THE CELLAR .........

God that Tori Spelling is heinous.

You'll have to send me the link superPHIN where the Packers have said they will trade Jones for a 2nd or a 3rd. I know Armando has speculated on this but that's a lot different than the Packers saying they would trade him. That's another Super Bowl contender and I just don't get why they would weaken themselves just to get a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I think Ireland is NUTS of he gives up a 2nd rounder for Jones. To me that's the same crap we pulled dealing for A J Feeley and Lamaar Gordon.

With the deadline to the 53 man roster quickly approaching, check out all the cuts and possible trades, and pick ups the Dolphins have been involved with at
http://phinsnews.com/will-the-dolphins-get-better-after-the-mandatory-roster-cuts/

Will someone please buy a ticket?

Aloco...Hartline..Bess are starters....Thomas...will get plenty of chances this season....

Craig

Well, Considering that we never spend high draft picks on WRs in the first place (In irelands and Parcells case) I would say yea..its worth the risk!!!(we have two 2nd rounders and two 3rd rounders next year..why not use one on perhaps a player with some impact this year....

Don't make a trade for any BIG NAME WR this year...just stock up for the draft...

Irescum didnt realize we need WR's.

Top 3 blog tools, DC, Mark in Toronto, and Craig M, really tooling it up today. Relax nerds...weekend coming soon.

I don't want no scrubs. I scrub is a guy who can't get no love from me.

superPHIN,

We'll disagree. Jones is a pretty average WR, who's numbers are inflated because of Arron Rodgers and the system that he plays in. You can trade the secodn rounder if you like but you're not going to see much of an improvement in the team's won/loss record. I'd rather draft a younger kid in April and have him develop.

Frankly, trading Jones would make things easy for the Packers, although they’d lose one of their deep threats. Since the team is intent on keeping Donald Driver this season, moving Jones would also make room for one of their practice squad guys — Tori Gurley or Diondre Borel. If the Packers keep six receivers, moving Jones would make room for both.

Hartline and Bess would not even make the roster on any other team.

My god all you Ireland hater's are funny, this is like a circus here..lol

all right little children pay attention please, there will be a test at the end of the story.

Parcells was in charge from 2008,2009 and 2010, he made ALL PERSONELL DECISIONS, Ireland was the GM in name only, he was Parcells assistant but didn't have final say on anything, he was getting his feet wet and learning the ropes to eventually take over.

now the reason Parcells made all the decisions is a simple one, you don't pay someone between 4 to 5 mil per year to sit around with a finger stuck up his butt, trust me on that, Prcells made all the decisions.

Parcells was supposed to built the team through the draft (which was his track record) but Chad Pennington fell into his lap and that combined with the Dolphins easy schedule produced a 11-5 season and the biggest turn around in NFL history but that created a false sense about the team and their expectations the following year, Parcells intead of continuing with rebuilding the team trough the draft got greedy and started to sign high priced free agents that never ever pan out, couple that with very questionable draft picks and you guys know the rest.

He bailed out on the team and left a mess for Ireland to deal with, now that brings me to another matter, why was Ireland kept?..Ross is no idiot, he did his homework and found out that Parcells was the ONLY one resposible for this mess, Ireland is trying and doing a heck of a job fixig the problem but he's only been in charge for two short years, the Dolphins have not been able to sign any high prize free agents because of their cap situation but that is going change next year since the team will have about 60 mil to spend.

Ireland and Philbin are on the same page, they want to build the team through the draft which is the correct way, it will take time but is the correct approach, you Iralnd hater's are clue-less.

WE got rid of our BEST CB (talent wise)...

Got rid of our BEST WR (twice)...

and just got rid of a serviceable LB....for nothing....

Looks like were bracing for a storm.....we could have done that last year and been in the running for a higher draft pick....

Lets not bring in a high profile WR...for what......

Now with great pleasure, i introduce you , the new and migthy Miami Frankensteins...
With love,
Ireland

KRIS.......HOW MANY YEARS HARTLINE AND BESS WITH THE DOLPHINS PLAYING?

HOW MANY TD BOTH HAD LAST 3 YEAR ?

I BELIEVE 2 TD FOR EACH ..

Hartline is a #10 receiver lol

I LOVE a good conspiracy theory.....probably WAY MORE than the next guy....but in the case of the FINS,,,,

I don't give a crap about this shifting blame game....and the 3rd shooter on the grassy knoll.....

You call yourself a GM.....you have the title of GM....YOUR the GM......you get credit for...or take blame for ALL that is right or wrong with the team that you GM for.....

Ireland would be looked @ much more favorable if he would just STEP-UP and put all this to bed......We are a forging people....for those who acknowledge their mistakes...

superPHIN,

Again we'll agree to disagree. I think this team is at least 2-3 years away. By the time they are good Jones will be pushing 30 or not even on the team any more. Tired of the 'bandaid' solution. I'm just saying Jones on this team right now doesn't put up the kind of numbers he's put up in GB. It's a short term fix and I'm not in favour of it.

What's really hilarious is anyone thinking we are going to get a top or even a true 2nd wideout at this point of the year. Uhm , hello. I can just see all the other NFL teams just dying to trade their best players just to be nice to Miami. A WR better than Davone Bess is just not available right now ... unless you want to seriously overpay.

Screw gaffney, he sucks too. Go back to the patsies!

XB....

I can repost as well....and really you said a WHOLE lot of nothing...

I ask you AGAIN....how have they gotten better...

WHAT DANSBY DID FOR THAT TEAM WITH HIS 47 MILLION CONTRACT ?

LONG SHOULD BE RELEASED , IF YOU MEAN REBUILD ,THEN FIRE THE GARAGE MANAGER,THEN PRY......

FZB.....

Craig,

Your putting alot of faith into ireland next year that this team will draft an impact player (especially when it comes to reciever) As far as Jones goes, he is a legit deep threat and one of rodgers go to guys last year, maybe he's not as flashy as all the stats show but he has huge upside in his ability to breakaway in coverages. Im just sayin if it would cost us a 3rd rounder or so to pick him up, I would like to see them do it.

FZB, you continually leave out the FACT that Ireland was the one advising Parcells on ALL players.

Ireland's analysis & scouting report was the info Parcells used to make his personel decisions.

He leaned on him in Dallas which is WHY he got Jones to let him go & come to Miami. Do you think Ireland wasn't involved at all or at least heavily influencical?

Don't sit here & pretend. Right now I envision you having DUNCE written all over your forehead.

Aloco...I don't disagree with you....but what else do we have....

even as much as I beat the drum for Tanne to start....I NEVER envisioned him not throwing to Chad Johnson...or an equivalent...

Armstrong, a former Arena Football League standout, only caught seven passes for 103 yards (scoring two touchdowns) last season. Washington numerous acquisitions at his position the past two seasons makes him expendable.
-Sun Sentinel

Seven passes for 103 yrds?

Well, hopefully by next year(Irescum's 6th!) we'll be an expansion team.
