Dolphins trim roster to 78, three more moves coming

The Dolphins cut nine players this morning and placed another on the physically unable to perform list trim the roster to 78. The club needs three more roster moves by 4 p.m. on Monday to get to the 75-man limit.

The moves today:

Cut: TE Les Brown (as ushge), DT Chas Alecxih, CB Marcus Brown, safety Tyrell Johnson (a free agency bust), CB Trent Hughes, LB Josh Linam, RB Jerome Messam, DE Jacquies Smith, and CB Jonathan Wade (who got burned for two TDs Friday night).

The club also placed running back Jonas Gray on the PUP.

During his press conference today, coach Joe Philbin made the point his team needs work. They will practice today, Sunday and Monday before playing Dallas on Wednesday in the preseason-finale. Usually starters don't get very much action in that game.

But the Dolphins need work so Philbin left the door open for playing starters a bit longer than usual.

"I wouldn't rule anything out," he said.

By the way, just as Wade had a terrible game, Richard Marshall was not necessarily good last night. He had a chance to slam the door closed on the starting job at cornerback and he played poorly. He simply watched as Julio Jones caught a 49-yard pass that was more like a punt and his tackling was suspect.

Vontae Davis had a pass interference that nullified his own interception.

So no one is exactly stepping forward. It's wide open between Davis and Marshall.

"We're not ready to name a starter," Philbin said, "but Vontae is certainly in the mix."

The last time I was as pathetic at football as Fasucko, I was in third grade. Starting in 4th grade I caught the football 800X better than Fasucko. Not even kidding.

Fasano must have an god darned IQ of 80. How can a guy that athletic with big hands be such a pdkdlussy and not be able to catch a fdlkducking football, EVER?

I swear to dlkd that if I were his size I'd be in the NFL and not dropping 4 out of every 5 passes that hit my hands.

Conducive, steamer, not condusive....

Odin, Fasano, or Tannehill or anyone on this team looks good....because everyone else is soooo bad. The common denominator is, Ireland!!!! Think about it! Please!

Huh? Fasano looked good to you?

Coalition to get coalition out of the closet get out of the barn.

Compared to egnew, Odin, he looked stellar! Compared to the basketball player turned TE, NO picked up from the Unviversity of of Miami, no, Fasano can't find his own balls with both hands! It's a matter of perspective...

OR OMAR

ALoco
They received enough to learn how to remove capslock. What's your excuse?

ALOCO, ALL THE EDUCATION IN THE WORLD IS WORTHLESS, UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT, YOU TELL ME!

ALoco,
I beg to differ with you on your "POTENT" thesis regarding Ali. Ali was extremely "POTENT" as a boxer. Just in a different way than George Foreman.
Foreman knocked you out with one punch. Ali had an array of "POTENT" punches. Ask George Foreman, he'll tell you what it feels like to fall "like a tree after being hit with a barrage of "POTENT" punches by Muhammad Ali.
You dont get to be a champio without some type of "POTENCY". Only the application of that "POTENCY" may differ.

Knowing how to use such is second to its intent.

REDSKY....AGREE BUT IN THE ARMANDO CASE,I FEEL HE DIDN'T FINISH HIGH SCHOOL AT BEST ,B/C THE HERALED LIKES TO HIRES VERY LOW ESTEEMED PEOPLE ,THEN PAY THEM A DIME .....

YG...YOU SURPRISE ME WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND YOUR CHOICE OF WORDS .....,,,,,,,GOOD POST @ 11;22 PM .....

I'm not going to panic. The "Closet Homers" are the ones over-reacting to how the team looks.

I expect improvement on 6-10. Hoping for a best case scenario of 9-7 with the schedule.

Our Defense looks improved. Judging from where we were at last year, the defense doesn't look like a particular problem(Koa Misi aside of course).

We got to see our "New Look" secondary with Davis at nickle. All you saw was Matt Ryan getting pressure and coverage sacks. They shut down a pretty(forgive me ALoco)potent offense in the Falcons. The defense will continue to improve and hopefully but us some time for the offense to get their heads out of their a sses.

The Offense always has to play catch up to the defense. It's the nature of the game. More complicated, more timing, etc, etc. Especially with Rookie Coaches, Quarterbacks and new offensive installs.

Even with Jerry suddenly losing a whooping whooper sized 5 pounds, I still see us bringing in one more Lineman off waivers. With the injury of Hicks and the inconsistent play of Martin, I'd say it's absolutely necassary.

Point being, the line will be fine. It'll probably take at least another player and a week or two of regular season games. But it's starting to shape up.

All things considered, the QB situation is good. At least in my opinion. Tannehill NEVER had that deer in the headlight look. Not even for second. The kids a gamer. Moore is solid off the bench and Devlin probably makes Garrard expendable.

The Running back situation is even better. Despite the emphasis on passing, the backs have looked great. Bush never looked stronger or healthier. Thomas is running tough and catching passes. Miller even had a couple good runs Friday.

The receivers are pathetic. I'm still holding out hope that a couple step up, but I ain't holding my breath. The fact is though, even as far back as the draft, we knew we were defiscient. Ireland goofed it of course. But we couldn't address every need with just one draft.

The ONLY people really whinning and crying right now are the "Closet Homers" that were secretly expecting a deep playoff run this year.

Take a deep breath and be content with watching Tannehill develop. This season is a practice run for perfecting the O and developing out heir apparent.

One more off season and draft and were BACK!

OK, just kidding above.....but wouldn't that be really cool if I could really say all that!

AwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwRiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight MIAMI!!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Miami, Fla. The Miami Dolphins have officially submitted an application for transfer to the Arena League where they think they might be competitive.

FIRE ...MIKE SHERMAN

FIRE THE DC .......

FIRE THE 32 YEARS OLD DC ..........

Compared to egnew, Odin, he looked stellar! Compared to the basketball player turned TE, NO picked up from the Unviversity of of Miami, no, Fasano can't find his own balls with both hands! It's a matter of perspective...

Gotcha and Agreed!

Philbin and Ireland will both be fired before seasons end.

Kris,

Fast forward 17 years. Would you be pleased if your daughter brought home an odin, or deeply, deeply disappointed in her?

Be honest.

July 20th, 1969, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil Armstrong, 1st Astronaut to set foot on the moon has died at 82." God bless and a good flight to heaven Neil, Godspeed!

Fasano has never had a QB. Unfair to judge him with Henne, Moore, and Tannehill.

YG..THESE ARE THE BEST 2 POSTS YOU EVER WROTE....YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH................@ 11.42 AND 11;44 PM

RICK..FASANO IS MAKING CLOSE TO 2 MILLION A YEAR AND STILL THE WORST TE IN DOLPHIN'S HISTORY ,,,,,,,

It's obvious YG = ALoco way to fool all of us into thinking they were 2 different guys.

ALoco,

2 mill is peanuts for the NFL. Your not going to get a star TE for that. Look at what Gronkowsji got.

YG,ALOCO, who cares about the quality of the sports writers???? Really, you should be self informed, stop waiting for someone to spoonfeed you! Do your own research! Sorry, I don't trust reporters, they never let the facts get in the way of a good story! Now, some of you may not understand that, but if you read it 10-20 times you'll get it! Regular long time posters are excluded!

Oscar Canosa is a self proclaimed doctor! Although I appreciate his comments, he is extremely fallible. If he holds a doctorate, then so do I, I will match him, point for point, in rating people as well as general knowledge and football knowledge. Now, this challenge may require several face to face meetings in SoFla at a local bar. Is he up to the challenge, I doubt it! Loser buys the drinks!!!! C'mon Oscar, nut up!

Dolphin fans are way behind the times. Most think its outrageous to pay a good player 10 or 12 mill a year when every other team in the league is doing it. And sometimes much more. If we want to compete cheap Ross will have to start spending some money. Or we'll continue to stink.

Miami has the worst fans in professional sports.

It's not even close...

So in 1 of his 1001 Personalities there is a Doctor in there??

Let me guess Oscar is also a Coach? A Trainer? A Secretary? A Scientist? A Astronaut(RIP)? A Cabaret Dancer? A Chemist(MEth)? A Sword Swallower? A Director of Underage Snuff Films?

And 1001 other things the Sausage Eater can Come up with

Rick, Matthew, Dashi, let's go to new blog, Dashi and I are already there! I'm gone here boys!

I would attribute the penalty on Davis (isn't this twice now he got interference penalty during an interception?) on the replacement referees. How many interference calls were there over three games?

As for Tannehill and the receiver unit, once they decide who stays and who goes, things may gel.

My biggest concern is the secondary. Miami is such a good run defence partially because teams know they can pass with ease.

This experiment will be over in 3yrs, There will be a new Owner, a new GM, and then a new head coach, I hope and pray that tannehill will remain our Franchise QB, but unfortunately we will have to endure several more 3yr rebuilding plans.sorry RB.

I understand why you people are not coaching. If your stupid blogs are the best you can do to correct a problem, you would not qualify for a garbage truck. I have supported and will always support the Phins. Any true fan would.
