Ireland: Dolphins 'probably not interested' in T.O.

The Miami Dolphins got rid of Brandon Marshall because he had off-field issues and was, in the team's eyes, a problem with teammates. They got rid of Chad Johnson because he didn't fit the culture that coach Joe Philbin wants to establish -- that from Philbin himself.

And today they got rid of Vontae Davis, who is still a very talented player but fits into the category of not fitting the culture based on behind-the-scenes issues we'll get into later.

Is there any doubt whether Terrell Owens has a future with the Miami Dolphins?

"Probably not," general manager Jeff Ireland said when I asked him if he will have any interest in the wide receiver who was cut today by the Seattle Seahawks.

Owens is 38 years old, coming off a knee injury that forced him to miss all of last season, and he's not as productive as he once was. He caught two passes for 41 yards in two preseason games with Seattle.

But it is the off-field issues, the drama so to speak, that keeps Owens from being a possible answer for the receiver-starved Dolphins.

Owens has issues with his various paternity obligations. He is struggling financially. He has been known to blow up teammates, such as Donovan McNabb. And he still has hopes of having a reality TV show.

Nope, not happening.

As to the Davis trade, it is clear the Dolphins are getting rid of players they have become uncomfortable with beyond their peformance and Davis fell into that mold. He is only 24 and can change but he lost favor when he had issues being in shape this year, got into a pushing match with Carolina's Steve Smith two weeks ago, lost his starting job and last year showed up to work with a hangover after a late night of drinking.

"We know a lot about our players," Ireland said. "Some of that includes things you don't know about them or isn't seen by the public ..."

By the way, Ireland says the Dolphins might still use the extra draft picks he picked up in the Davis trade on a wide receiver. He called it "ammunition to do things this year or any year."

And that's what leads to those players lately being released or traded.

Then spend some ammunition on Mike Wallace. Dont need Ocho TO and that circus.

Really?

Ireland considers Draft Picks ammunition?

To "Do Things" with?

I did NOT know that.

"By the way, Ireland says the Dolphins might still use the extra draft picks he picked up in the Davis trade on a wide receiver. He called it "ammunition to do things this year or any year."

It makes a lot more sense to me if we use that draft pick on a proven quality WR that Philbin & Sherman like as opposed leaving it up to Ireland & his scouting department to draft someone decent.

I also think it's imperative--especially with the injury to Hartline--to find a WR who can help Tannehill develop this year. Guys like Gates or Moore or Wallace would not do that since they're not developed themselves.

Coalition To Get Coalition Out Of The Closet,

It's time to do your duties now. Get on with them.

SMF = JackSparrow = jcb = Oscork Canosa = Etc, etc...

Just find someone who can catch the damn ball

The problem with most of these total dumb fkk posters is they don't realize how much GM's work TOGETHER with the coaches. It has to be that way to be successful, and you can bet our FO and coaches know that.

Stop your narrow foolishing thinking that Ireland drafts alone in a cave without considerable input from the coaches.

I agree "We Have RB's".

We should at least be able to afford James Jones and not even put a dent in the Kitty.

We have two 2nd's, two 3rd's and two 6ths(most likely).

If we can't upgrade a rather pourous receiver corps with this kind of ammo, then something is seriously wrong.

Trade for Jones or Wallace. Then scour the waiver wire for an Offensive Lineman and/or a Tight End.

I seriously don't think this Vontae trade sets us back much at, if ANY.......THIS YEAR. And it sure makes next year(with the cap space and picks)look encouraging.

PS: Jimmy Wilson ALONE should be able to make up for Davis' measley 2 or 3 picks.

ROTFLMAO @ 6:10 PM.

DWAYNE BOWE!!!

And Monkey Boy always blames "Others" for posting Rainbow Room Material.

The FACTS prove different.

Hey-Hey........you GO Bu-oy!

Right. Let's trade for the disgruntled player who is holding out because he wants more money even though we barely have enough cap room to sign an additional cheerleader. Good thinking.

...TO makes absolutley no sense if in fact the team is trying to clean house. It would make all these recent moves B.S. if they indeed did reach out for him.

As far as the idea that the team may explore a move to aquire a piece for the offense with the extra"ammunition" the team has stockpiled..What about the idea of trying to find a tight end? It isn't as glamorous as a reciever, and I have no clue who we could trade for. But IMO a tight end would help Tannehill more then a reciever would right now.

Before saying WTF..This is why. A tight end is a quarterbacks security blanket. Currently we do not have such a luxury that can consistantly hold onto the ball. Love him or hate him. Hartline will be back, he can get open. We know Bess is reliable. At that point it is up to one of the young guys to step up. This is what many of us has asked for is the opportunity to see if any of these picks can play.(I know that judging by the preseason they look incapapble)

Unless the trade(hypothetic scenario)involves a top guy. What would be the point? I see James jones name being thrown around. Is he worth a premium pick for his services? Could he be successful because of the corps of recievers around him in Green Bay? I'm sure James Jones isn't the guy coordinators game plan around come Packer week. IMO if we could get a tight end to compliment the other guys we have this would enable a bit more flexibility on the offense as far as sets and formations..As it goes now Fasano doesn't cut it..Just my thought.

Just find someone who can catch the damn ball

AMEN!

31 other teams out there, but it's us that can't find someone to catch a pass?

PLAY HOGAN! Contrary to what Troll Boy says, Garrard and Bush have BOTH been singing his praises. I'll go with Garrard and Bush over Troll Boy anyday.

Actually, I would go with anyones assessment over Troll Boy, even ALoco's-ROTFLMAO!

But seriously, Hogan's teammates all seem to believe in him and he can't possibly do any worse than what we witnessed last Friday Night.

Play Hogan! Trade For Wallace and/or James Jones!

Stop your narrow foolishing thinking that Ireland drafts alone in a cave without considerable input from the coaches.

Despite blind supporters like you the common denominator through years of failed drafts is Jeff Ireland. Its his job to build a competent scouting department and put together above average drafts. He has failed year after year at his job, which is putting a good team on the field for the coaches to coach.

According to your logic Sparano was calling the shots on previous drafts. The same Sparano who was barely on speaking terms with Ireland after his ill-fated Harbaugh courtship. And according to your logic Philbin and his "considerable input" is to blame for this latest draft which outside of the yet-unproven RT is looking to be mediocre at best.

The blame/credit for any draft rightfully goes to the GM and his scouting dept. Of course Philbin is giving input as to what kind of players he likes, who fits his system, etc. But to act like Philbin is making decisions or has the final say when there is internal disagreement (which is often) makes you the "total dumb fkk poster" to use your own words. Why aren't you embarrassed that your standards are so low that you would come on here and defend such a clear failure?

Can we finally fire Ireland now?

DD....OUR GARAGE MANAGER IS HOLDING ON HIS JOB FOR YEAR AND HIDING BEHIND THIS (( CLEAN HOUSE ))........

EVERY YEAR WE SUCK FOR 8 YEARS AND EVERY HE SAYS WE CLEAN HOUSE.........

ONLY DUMB PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT.........

Right. Let's trade for the disgruntled player who is holding out because he wants more money even though we barely have enough cap room to sign an additional cheerleader. Good thinking.

Have you even read any of the new CBA?

We are CURRENTLY under the cap. Whats more, Per the new CBA, we can "borrow" up to 10 million against next years cap.

Which of course, we wouldn't even need to do. But it's there for just such contingencies.

Please educated yourself, lest you expose your..............you know......yourself.

Thanks for participating. NEXT!

FOR YEARS ......................

Ross is dumping players salary and pocketing the money rather then improving the team.

tHANKS tUNA!

iF iRELAND CANNOT CONJURE UP A WR by start of season he should be fired summarily....no severance no nothing utter juvenile ball boy loser.

OUR GARAGE MANGER FAILED TO SIGN GOOD WR SINCE MARSHALL WHO CAME HERE B/C OF THE TUNA...SINCE THEN ,,,,,,,,FAILURE .....

FIRE THE GARAGE MANAGER ,,,,,,,,,

why is TO being wasted on an article on this blog...C-MON man....I would rather go 2-14 than see that waste of space anywhere near this facility...He is used up and needs to retire from the NFL...try arena football if you love the game still Terrell(Timed) Owens(Out)...

Darryl, I agree with the principle.

You feel Tight End is the bigger need, where others feel it's WR.

I think either is a legite argument. I come down on the side of receiver being the bigger need, in that I see Fasano playing much better than last Friday. I also see Clay as coming through(hoping anyways).

Not saying anyone is wrong or right, I'm just leaning towards WR first. Though I admit, another pass catching Tight End would'nt bother me in the least. On the contrary, I would welcome either wholeheartedly to be honest.

Also, in regards to James Jones, it wouldn't take a premium pick(or so it's been said). Rumor has it that GB would be willing to part ways with Jones for a Mid Round pick. I don't know exactly what that means, but I would GLADLY give a 4th. Make it conditional. If he breaks 100 catches and/or a 1000 yards, it could become our LATER 3rd.

Of course I would prefer the straight up 4th rounder. The point is, we have room, we have ammo and we have some BIG needs. I myself would try to make "SOMETHING" happen ;)

get back to work...

BOYCOTT THE FINS UNTIL IRELAND IS FIRED!!!! WE’RE TIRED OF THE LOSING AND ARENT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE! DONT EVEN WATCH THEM ON TV!! UNITE AND HELP TO FINALLY MAKE A CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

2012 DRAFT round one GM.

SuperPHIN,

Agreed, I won't even talk about TO. It's ridiculous.

Had Ireland responded to the TO question with some bull crap about Due Diligence and kicking tires, I would've done some due diligence upside his his goofy looking head.

Darryl,

Another point I agree with. Owens would make these others moves look ignorant. It would pretty much negate everything we've been told and everything the FO has been doing.

Leave the Johnson's and the TO's for guys like SpOrano and Fisher. In other words, the dumba sses.

Philbin obviously has a plan. Right now were feeling the pain a little, but were moving in the right direction. I like it.

I won't even talk about TO. It's ridiculous.

I won't even bring up TO. WHY? FORGET TO!

The natural guy to acquire for this team is Wallace. Sure we're tight against the cap but there are ways around that. There's always a way. He'd be a great addition for this offence. I'd do it for the Colts second in a heartbeat. Would the Steelers? Probably not. Btw, it has nothing to do with this guy being disgruntled. He wants to be paid what he's worth. Nothing wrong with that. A million guys around the league do it every year. Mike Wallace would be the idea guy for this offence. For that reason alone it's probably not happening.

TO?

You ain't got nuttin better dan dat! SLAM POW PUNK!

BYEEEE!

TO?

Go ahead BOYCOTT the Fins. I'm happy to get rid of retarded football players especially when we get more than they're worth.
Tomorrow when we are welcoming Mike Wallace brought in with these picks, you keep Boycotting the fins so I can get better seats at the games.

Wallace ain't jack without Ben. Nothing but straight ahead speed. Gates.

I have to agree with Kris too.

No offense ALoco, but you are posting like Mamie Eisenhower and Elenor Roosevelt.

I don't care if Coach delivers Corned Beef Pizza's on a Broun Donkey to Garage Managers Shop!

Get some NEW Material PLEASE!

look. fans are excited to see the philbin designed offense, or are they? ross wants fans in the stands, any football fan wants to see their team WIN the superbowl, after all, that is the ultimate goal. so maybe the philbin offense takes a back seat for this season for something more prooven and effective, and then maybe next season it can be molded into something more philbinesque. the patriot system that forces the ball to ONLY the most reliable targets saw them in another superbowl appearence this past february, i say use that prooven design and match our guys against theirs guys and see who is better, the advantage reggie has over woodhead, makes up for the advantage brady has over tannehill(so they cancel), welker vs. bess--EQUAL, hernendez vs. clay-advantage new england, so were at a small disadvantage heading into gruntkouski...lets say, develop egnew into his full potential vs. gruntkouski, could be a wash, maybe an advantage for miami, i guess it is a gamble since we don't know how reliable egnew can be... so lets take the gamble out of it...ready...gruntkouski vs. MIKE WALLACE-advantage-MIAMI.....oh, but budtki, the pats get seperation.. oh yeah, maybe guys like welker and bess just have great skills, and stake the priority of catching the ball as high as their livelyhood, just maybe little guys like welker and bess become a weopon to defend(no matter how small) that open the other targets up by their sheer dependability and the fact that if you don't defend them they will kill you, just as welker did when he ripped of that 80 yarder vs. miami last year. throw it ONLY to our guys that are dependable, and will fight for the ball, players we know that will come down with ball, players that we can force the ball to, this will only create positive yardage and give tannehill confidence. i would put all my coaching resouces into egnew, he has the skill set to be great, philbin, if their is one guy that can be your test, it will be egnew, he had good skills in college and could be your shinning star, he could be miami's savior... lets see.. welker, hernendez, woodhead, and gruntkouski--vs.--bess, clay, reggie, egnew, and MIKE WALLACE....sounds like a plan...a very GOOD and prooven plan, and then maybe next year philbin can build it into something more packer like, but as for now, i think fans would be thrilled to see some wins...don't let vontae's aquired 2nd round pick become another gamble on draft day 2nd round bust, go get a NO risk sure thing stud prooven stud wideout named MIKE WALLACE. it may help us forget about other 2nd rounders such as pat white.... go fins, go ross, go bess, reggie, clay egnew!!!! go tannehill

I won't even talk about TO. It's ridiculous. TO???

Move along now folks...

Craig

How many teams went after Wallace? ZEROOOOO

There is a reason for that. He ain't know Megatron, he is worth a 4th rd pick AT BEST!

Bad idea, pal.

Yes.

Just for the RECORD, Monkey Boy, as USUAL, was the FIRST to bring up the Rainbow Room Material and NOW, the FIRST to be impostoring others.

Both things he accuses others of doing. I think it very appropiate when you sign your posts Pot and Kettle, because that pretty much sums you up to a TEE!

You need to work on your Material as well.

PS: And for Gods sake don't bring up any little boys packages that you've been checking out lately.

You ask ppl to move on from the TO story yet, you just got done posting how many posts about him? At least 4? What a joke you are.

And you wonder why the mean trolls pick on you? BOO HOO! Stop giving them reason to you drunken lush! You're too easy!

Coalition,

Wallace has gone over 1,000 yards EACH of the last two years, with 10 and 8TDS. I never said he was Megatron....for my money there's only one Megatron. But if Wallace came to this team he'd be the best WR on the team in an instance. We paid TWO number two's for Marshall. Seems to me ONE number two is fair value for Wallace.

Just for the RECORD, Monkey Boy, as USUAL, was the FIRST to bring up the Rainbow Room Material and NOW, I bring it up every day :)

Shaaaazaaaaaaaammmmm!

SLAM POW FUNK.

I do remember the Grand Funk.

Hey Craig do you think the Steelers would go for Jerry and a 2nd for Wallace? Decastro is done for the year they could use the Oline depth.

Craig M

Are things so rotten in your life that you have stooped to engaging in dialog with odin?

Im gonna say GB WR James Jones and TE DJ Williams for a 3rd and 5th round pick. Still gives us both of our 2's and a third. WIlliams can help with the pass catching te and Jones takes the WR slot obviously

What's a "Garage Manager"?

i can tell what you DO for living ,IF YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU EAT FOR DINNER TONIGH ....

More importantly, think of all the little boy packages we could go after.

Hey - Hey........Meth goes GOOD with Little Boys!

Bam - Bam!

Speaking of which, that Bam-Bam was one hot little prehistoric boy. I'd like him to stick that big club right in my HEAD!

HoHO!

Here's a little story for you. One of my very best friends flipped out on drugs during the 60's. I used to go to his house to see him after that, and he would eat a bistec, prepared by his mother, without looking at me or talking at the table , then upon finishing his meal, he would retire to his room to listen to Grand Funk.

are the dolphins still considered an nfl franchise?

Darkoak,

I think the Steelers would go for that but could we do that? Sounds like Jerry is going to end up being the RG. I don't think we have enough depth on OL to make that trade. Just my opinion....
