Jake Long leaves practice with injury

Long down
Dolphins left tackle Jake Long left practice moments ago after suffering an undisclosed right leg injury during practice.

Long was protecting on a quick pass when he suddenly fell to the ground in a heap of other players. The others got up. Long stayed on the turf inside the Dolphins practice bubble for at least two minutes. Two, long, painfully uncertain minutes.

After trainers and coach Joe Philbin came over to assess the problem, Long eventually was helped to his feet and walked to a cart parked along the sideline. Trainers unfastened his right knee brace, pulled it down to his ankle and began to work the area between the knee and ankle even as Long shook his head in disgust.

Long, it must be said, was seen pointing to his knee initially and later was rubbing it. After spending a couple of minutes on the cart, Long and head athletic trainer Kevin O'Neill left the bubble to go into the facility. Long walked out under his own power.

I will not speculate if this thing is serious or not. The Dolphins themselves don't even know at this moment.

It may be that we don't know how serious this is for a while as Philbin has a policy in which he refuses to discuss injuries to any degree.

Long, entering his fifth NFL season, has been to the Pro Bowl four times. He played most of the past two years with injuries to his knees and shoulder. He said earlier this training camp that this was the healthiest he felt since his rookie year.

I truly don't know how much longer I can bear with this Team.

This actually makes sense. More catastrophe. I believe even God wants Ireland fired

For me, it would be easy. I would go back to my football genesis. Listening to the Dolphins games on the radio and watching the good Teams on TV. For you young'uns, I dont know.

Me, I'm obsessed with hemmoroids, cause that's what I lick.

This is unbelievable. Nobody had any idea what happens to long. Our crack insider said he walked off the field under his own, sat in cart, then walked into the training room without help or limping..and everyone on here acts like the report was he was gone for the year. Then again it is Armando giving us this info..so he is probably gone for the year..lol.

Ireland just needs to stop outsmarting himself in drafts, lowballing fa's we really need, and quit acorn hunting.

Acorns for for churning the bottom of your roster only. When bringing in an acorn he needs to be definitively better than the acorn he replaces. Acorns should be no more than 24yrs old. Because acorns are players that need to be developed anyway.

Also make sure you have a staff in place fully capable of developing these acorns. If not its only a failed exercise in futility.

It will take at least 2 weel executed drafts and at least 2 high impact fa's(1 on each side of the ball) for Miami to get back to being sb calibre.

LOL @ 7:23 and 7:26...."there you have it"....your a certified pusy....

I call you a pusy under my name...but ALL OF A SUDDEN feel the need to make up a name to call you a pusy.....

yeah...makes sense.....

pusy.....

It's almost like all of you guys ENJOY hating on the Dolphins and relish all the Doom & Gloom! Seriously, how can you be a fan? Being fanatical about something means you support it no matter what. And, I'm just not seeing that from this fan base.

I've rooted for the Dolphins since it was an expansion team; through all of the good and the bad...the Super Bowls and the high draft picks...the changes in coaches & QB's...and, still I hope to see this team rise back to the top. I'll never give up being a fan of the Dolphins! Yes, I can give criticism where criticism is due. But, I don't hate on the team no matter how disappointed I may be in them.

But, then again...I don't have the maturity, emotional, and mental problems that seem to afflict some of you...

it looks like our friend Jakes NFL carrer is nearing its end... his body just cant keep him in the game. hes been fighting injuries for 3 yrs now. time to make a move!!!

Kris, you dont need to respond to Pussiee Boy. This troll in the basement will get his one day. Once a pussieee always a pussieee

This team is cursed!! LMFAO

In Irescum's 5th year the Dolphins are the equivalent of a terrible expansion team.....without the draft choices.

Will someone please buy a ticket?

Thanks.....do you even UNDERSTAND THIS GAME YET???????

LOL....

pusy.....

you guys get the pattern. Vets getting shown the door, rest will find an injury. Bush and Dansby will be next to fall.

This is what happens when you loose a lockeroom. Say you dont care they are the vets that could only win six games. But as a Dolphin fan this is Cameron Part II.

Sad, Sad, and very Sad. Hope Long is alright. The trainer better get ready, IR will fill up quick.

This really bites. Never have I ever thought about cancelling my NFL Sunday ticket but this is really stink to the highest.

This is out of control to the highest.

BobbyD12....

you have given me so much power with just one word.....

hope you don't mind me using it.....

Now the pusy has resorted to deleting my post....

I guess I can type pusy at will....but type the truth....DELETE THAT.....

How can Ross, in good conscience, charge regular prices for a skeleton team? Does he think the fans are that stupid?

side busting funny @ 8:09....

Hi Kris. Nice to see you again!

LMAO!!!!!!!!!

Yes, MJ. And I have said this before. I would prefer they move the Team somewhere else to continue watching mediocrity which I, for one, am not. btw, the logo and banner stay here, Ross, ya hear. We know why you go to California for.

I feel sorry for anyone that already bought tickets to this farce.

I think if I keep this up.....

I may get every pusy name this pusy has in his arsenal....

bring it on pusy....NEXT....

AND....back to my name....

you recycling already pusy?????

I will hold judgment until after the Houston game and no later.

Could Armando be right when he said that J. Martin was drafted mainly to replace J. Long at left tackle? Armando knows things, hmm...

Jake Long & Brian Hartline are injury prone. I understand keeping Long, when healthy, he is productive. But why is Brian Hartline still on this team? He was drafted in the fourth round and his numbers have been dismal since he's been here. He doesn't run by anyone.

I once enjoyed coming to read this blog. Time to clean out some idiots Mando. i like opinions on the Dolphins, not a bunch of middle school ramblings and name calling

When have you enjoyed reading this blog "jake"....pussieees like yourself have been ruining this place for years.....

Only now I have the proper noun with witch to address you...

Let's see, which 6 receivers are going to keep? Bess and probably Naanee are locks. I like Marlon Moore because he is Tannehill's favorite young receiver now and Jeff Fuller because of the same past connections. Perhaps a good waiver pick-up. And another 2 that are very good STs players also, you pick'em. That's it for me.

C'mon, grab your friends,

It's Adventure Time!

Hey, Armando, are you listening to Philbin?

I told you last year that Long is broken down and finished, at least as a premier player at his position. He'll be in fast decline from here on out. Injury prone. He's simply too big combined with being lazy his entire life (relying on freakish size as opposed to working out, which is obvious by looking at his "average joe six pack" skinny arms). I told you to jettison him last year and not give him big money.

If you don't get it, read this very slowly: yes, his arms are "skinny," relative to his body and professional occupation (NFL offensive lineman). I'm 5'11" and 165 and my arms are "bigger" in comparison to my body size, because I've lifted weights since I was 15. If Long had lifted as much as me in my life, he'd be a freakin' monster (like I'm like a 1/2 size model of him, I admit, but I'm talking relatively speaking).

The dude is huge (tall too) but with skinny legs and he's breaking down. Knees are probably shot.

He'll be moving like Marino moved at the end (with all that mechanical crap trying to protect his knees) soon.

To anyone who thinks that Long has been a "stud" at at time in the past 2 years, try actually watching the game and having a brain instead of going by what you hear in the rumor mill or irrelevant pro bowl selections.

Long has been average for 2 years and now his body is really breaking down.

Great draft pick, that was (sarcasm).

OL are interchangeable, as I told you last year.

I like Tanne (that's what we needed this year). But we should have take Ryan when we took Long, OBVIOUSLY.

This point is not even debatable.

you people insulting each other, talking about the p word and the like. Don't you get it? We are doomed. Cursed. Finished, Kaput, stick a fork in us. Our team has been irrelevant since 1985 when a Samoan named Mosey Tatupu ran all over us in the AFC championship. Only made it back once since then in 1992 and Bobby Humphrey made sure we snorted our way to a loss (no pun intended). Since then what? nada. We now have an entire generation of fans, over 20 years, that have grown up watching the Dolphins stink up the place. Just think of this. The last, best coach we had was Dave Wannestedt. I have nothing more to say.

Should've draftrd Matt Ryan.....

The fact is Long hasn't even been the best LT in the game. That title belongs to Joe Thomas.

Miami fans should be objective. Long was & might still be a great player but, he's a f-ing LT. He doesn't win games or score TD's.

Most of you can't even name the starting LT for the best teams in the NFL. If a team offers up a 1st rounder for him at the trade dealine, do it!

We need alot of top end talent & you have to use your chips to get em. Long is on the downside. He's injury prone. Use him to your advantage before you lose him potentially to FA anyway.

Time for this franchise to start making the right moves.

Short version for you idiots: Long is done as a premier player. His knees are shot because he's too freakishly big and has relied on that as opposed to good conditioning. Thus he has weak arms and legs and his shoulder and knees are now shot.

Long needs to be taken out to pasture. Jake Long = Tony Bosseli

Tannehill without WR's and without Jake Long? YIKES!!

Put Irescum in at LT.

Kris
With all due respect, you are an epic douche.

Argggh!!! Greg Oden's Eye (not odinseye) sees a 2-14 record in Miami's future, with a sweep of the Jets. Blimey me matey's!!!, Jake Long's ACL is as week as a lilly livered land lubber. Argggh!!
