Minutes before the start of what promises to be the most meaningless game of the season:
Ryan Tannehill is going to start. He's going to start running, too, if he's smart.
That's because the starting offensive line will be a backup unit except for rookie Jonathan Martin at right tackle. The unit consists of Ray Feinga at LT, Chandler Burden at left guard, Ryan Cook at center, John Jerry at right guard and Martin at right tackle.
Crazy, right?
Daniel Thomas starts for Reggie Bush, who is not expected to play.
The injured scratches tonight are: Jake Long (right knee), David Garrard (knee), Nate Garner (head), Tony McDaniel (leg), Lydon Murtha (foot), Brian Hartline (calf), and defensive end Derrick Shelby (shoulder).
Middle linebacker Karlos Dansby is dressed but not expected to play. Austin Spitler starts in his place. Kevin Burnett is dressed but not expected to play. Gary Guyton starts in his place.
There's a live blog happening in the comments section. I'll be there for the kickoff. See you there.

I wish I could write my name in pretty blue like Ohio and Indiana "fans" who live more than 1,000 miles from Miami.

funny tidbit... the cowboys QB S.McGee, is the ex Texas A&M QB who tossed RT's first completion as a WR..... and, of coarse the same QB who beat out RT in the QB competition...
Posted by: Redwintho | August 29, 2012 at 09:53 PM
Lane WOW!!
Posted by: Dashi | August 29, 2012 at 09:53 PM
Man with all these WR stoping balls. Let's give the cheer leaders a try. At least most of them don't drop balls!! Lol
Posted by: ray | August 29, 2012 at 09:53 PM
Lane a freaking bull!!!
Posted by: Fasucko | August 29, 2012 at 09:53 PM
Lane has spot on this team
Posted by: 72perfectstill | August 29, 2012 at 09:53 PM
Told you guys, Miller has no explosion to the line of scrimmage. If there is a hole open for a nano second, it will be closed by the time he gets there.
Posted by: Yesterday'sGone | August 29, 2012 at 09:54 PM
Lane 277. Keep him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Fasucko | August 29, 2012 at 09:54 PM

Please dont be the "Irescum" boy
Posted by: sagneul | August 29, 2012 at 09:54 PM
Fasucko - The starters were not even playing against defensive starters and could not get in the endzone...as for the 2's, dont you think the 2's are playing in the 2nd quarter? Don't you think Nolan Carrol is considered a 2nd on our defensive you got burnt last drive. Pull your head out of your A $ $ and realize this team has issues

WR dropping balls. Cheer leaders don't drop balls, only a s s!
Posted by: ray | August 29, 2012 at 09:55 PM
Plain to see the difference between their receivers and ours.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 29, 2012 at 09:55 PM
Gotta step away to write my column, folks. I'll be back later after deadline.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 29, 2012 at 09:57 PM
Fasucko - I respect your optimism and hope you're right, but I'm not sure that this team can be fixed just by a wr
Posted by: WIDolfan | August 29, 2012 at 09:57 PM
Oscar,
Plain to see the difference between our recievers and pop warner recievers. They catch more passes at the pop warner level than us.
Posted by: Yesterday'sGone | August 29, 2012 at 09:57 PM
What was clear was that Tanne was sharp and is the real deal.
That's the only relevant thing.
And Thomas. Also good.
Posted by: Fasucko | August 29, 2012 at 09:57 PM
The whole Team semms more active Today.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 29, 2012 at 09:58 PM
This game is meaninless right now... just to know who make the team at 3rd string.. but WE´RE GOING TO SUCK!!!... 1-15 WHO WANTS TO BET...COME ON WHO!!!???
Posted by: sagneul | August 29, 2012 at 09:58 PM
Indiana how did the colts do?
Yeah, talk about issues. Their home town fans won't even claim them.
Posted by: Coalition To Get Coalition Out Of The Closet | August 29, 2012 at 09:58 PM
sagneul - Thank you I am not the only one that thinks Fasucko is a complete idiot. He probably thinks we will finish 12-2 or better and win the division as well...
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | August 29, 2012 at 09:58 PM
Armando! Please talk about this years team and what your thoughts about wins and losses!
Posted by: ray | August 29, 2012 at 09:59 PM
ARMANDO,
ARE YOU WRITING A COLUMN ABOUT OUR GARAGE MANAGER TON OF MISTAKES OR YOU GOING TO TELL US YOU SPOKE WITH AND HE TOLD YOU HIS CRAP ?
Posted by: ALoco | August 29, 2012 at 09:59 PM
i am pleased that the Dolphins didn't do their patented rush for the table scraps and get TO or Stallworth.
Posted by: navydolfaninva | August 29, 2012 at 09:59 PM
Oh, I apologize. I neglected my duty. I forgot during the last several hours to remind you that...
ANTHONY FASANO IS PURE, UNMITIGATED GARBAGE.
I SHALL REMIND YOU OF SAME THRICE DAILY AND I SHALL BE HERE ALL YEAR.
Posted by: Fasucko | August 29, 2012 at 09:59 PM
Lane is looking like Okoye on SuperTechmo Bowl. You do not see what he is doing to would-be tacklers often in the NFL.
Posted by: Hep | August 29, 2012 at 10:00 PM
That center of ours is excellent. Where the heck did he come from?
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 29, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Now that Matt Moore lost the starting job looks like he doesn't give a damn
Posted by: 72perfectstill | August 29, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Dashi thought come the Regular Season Move Clay to FB.
But this Kid Lane is Looking like the Truth. He runs with that Weight. Some Big Guys can't do that.
Sporano would specially love him for his 3rd & 1 Special. FB Dive.
Lane is Space? WOW!!
Might as well call him Truck Lane.
Jerry and MArtin seem to be a tandem?
If they stick? Philbin has made more out of JErry than Sporano ever did.
Posted by: Dashi | August 29, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Matthews ran a beautiful route, nice studder step, burned the cb. Has size, some speed, keeper.
Posted by: Phins78 | August 29, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Hard to judge wrs when Moore can't hit them
Posted by: WIDolfan | August 29, 2012 at 10:01 PM
Nothing new with Matt Moore. Had a dcent 1st year with Carolina and sucked terribly his 2nd season. This is his 2nd season as a dolphin.
Posted by: Yesterday'sGone | August 29, 2012 at 10:01 PM
They shouldn't play Moore anymore. It's obvious that he wants outta here.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 29, 2012 at 10:02 PM
Must keep rishard matthews
Posted by: Catch22 | August 29, 2012 at 10:02 PM
The Giants & Patriots have 3rd string CB's who are better than Carroll.
Posted by: We Have RB's | August 29, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Why does Dallas 3rd string qb look so much better than our 1 and 2? Lord help me this season.
Posted by: roman005 | August 29, 2012 at 10:03 PM
The coaching staff and front office is purging the team of quality players for discipline's sake, making it quite obvious that this season is a concession to rebuilding. Players are told - for fear of the embarrassing truth coming out - to keep their opinions "in house" as HBO documents every second of the preseason. With all of these strong suggestions, the team has taken coaching and front office's lead and have thrown in the towel before the season has even started. Philbin and Ireland are embarrassments. I have never in 42 years entered a season where hopelessness was enforced rather than an unfortunate occurrence. Please try, at least. Even Cam Cameron tried.
Posted by: Garage | August 29, 2012 at 10:03 PM
You can see that #40 is a goner.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 29, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Looked like refs missed obvious holding call
Posted by: 72perfectstill | August 29, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Oscar,
Moore's playing like he wants out of not only Miami, but the entire nfl. What Gm would want him if they were watching tonight's game. Not even as a 3rd string backup at this point in his career.
Posted by: Yesterday'sGone | August 29, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Geez sagneul ill take those odds. All they have to do is win 2 games and I win? If only I could bet you for real, I would put everything on a bet like that!
Posted by: Phins78 | August 29, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Lane just took a guy out the Game and Possibly for a Couple Weeks with A Concussion.
Posted by: Dashi | August 29, 2012 at 10:05 PM

Posted by: WIDolfan | August 29, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Indiana...
Fasuko= Ireland´s bit**... plain simple... ´cause guys like that this morons still are in chrage of our team, they buy everything they said and tickets too....
This team has in rebuilding mode year after year for the last 15 years or so... please somebody tell them that you dont rebuilt giving up talent, but adding it!!!
Posted by: sagneul | August 29, 2012 at 10:07 PM
Why is that Everytime The Official calls a Penalty on The Dolphins he has a Smile on his F'n Face?
Posted by: Dashi | August 29, 2012 at 10:07 PM
We have to remember that anyone we get of the wire will have a week to learn the playbook, etc. This will really hamper an O-Line guy or wideout.
Another bad call against Carroll.
These refs are the worst I've seen in one of our games.
Posted by: IMAWriter | August 29, 2012 at 10:07 PM
Roman005,
because our starter is a rookie, Garrard is hurt, and Moore quits.
Posted by: navydolfaninva | August 29, 2012 at 10:07 PM
I know a couple of refs that will be getting cut Monday.
These guys are BAD..........Real Bad!
Posted by: Coalition To Get Coalition Out Of The Closet | August 29, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Cowboys look sloppy. Jason Garrett sukks.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 29, 2012 at 10:08 PM

Their 3rd string receivers look better than our 1st strings
Posted by: 72perfectstill | August 29, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Phin 78... Please mention 1 team less talented than ours??... just one please!!
Posted by: sagneul | August 29, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Dallas wr's knowing they wont make the team are auditioning for us. They know we need real wr's. LOL
Posted by: Yesterday'sGone | August 29, 2012 at 10:09 PM
THIS TEAM IS GOD AWFUL...no regular season will save them....trade moore while you still have time to get value in it.
Posted by: superPHIN | August 29, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Ireland must have some dirt on Ross
Why Ross hasn't fired him yet just blows my mind
Posted by: 72perfectstill | August 29, 2012 at 10:11 PM

IS THAT MEANS ,YOU R TRYING TO ALERT US,THERE'S A JOKE SOME WHERE IN THERE OR YOU JUST LAUGHING ?
Posted by: ALoco | August 29, 2012 at 10:11 PM
I know pre-season games don't mean anything but 0-4? You've got to be shitting me! There BETTER be a Major roster change by the start of the season.
Posted by: tiredfinfan | August 29, 2012 at 10:11 PM
Night folks.
In the best of all worlds,we've been hiding our true greatness for these 4 pre-season games, and against Houston we'll look like the '72 Fins.
Unfortunately, It appears optimism will be in short supply this year.
STILL A FAN.
Just not a believer.
Posted by: IMAWriter | August 29, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Dashi doesn't believe the Fins will go after a Linemen. The Rookie Center looks good and Hicks and Jerry can Play OTackle.
Now on the Wr's?
If we get James Jones, Dashi doesn't think he need to learn the Playbook that Much. It's the Same System.
Maybe they will look for players coming out of WCO System? Might make it Easier to learn the Playbook.
Can we get 1 of those Cowboys WR?
