Guard Artis Hicks is out with a neck injury. John Jerry starts at right guard, as I reported yesterday. Kevin Burnett (back) is not playing so Gary Guyton starts for him. And as I previously read on this blog, Karlos Dansby (knee) also isn't playing while Austin Spitler takes his spot.
The rest of the Dolphins scratches tonight:
David Garrard (knee), Kelcie McCray (foot), Kevyn Scott (leg), Jonas Gray (knee), Burnett (back), Dansby (knee), Lydon Murtha (foot), Tony McDaniel (leg) and Brian Hartline (leg).
The Murtha injury is interesting in that he missed much of last season with a foot injury. It is unknown if it's the same foot but this is not good.
Vontae Davis is scheduled to play so you can now totally discoun the idea he's going to be traded in the next day or so.
And finally, we have a live blog going this evening. I'll meet you in the comments section at kickoff.

Dolphins are friggin awful. 3 pts?

Posted by: bill connors | August 24, 2012 at 09:00 PM
Go for it!!!!
Posted by: redsky | August 24, 2012 at 09:00 PM
Something is wrong with Jake Long, he CAN NOT block tonight.
Posted by: Phins78 | August 24, 2012 at 09:00 PM
Fasano sucks. I bet if tannehill threw him a calzone he would catch it! What a bum.
Posted by: Dolphin 77 | August 24, 2012 at 09:00 PM
russel wilson on fire,td pass now seattle 16-0
Posted by: bill connors | August 24, 2012 at 09:01 PM
Just a question. Did they change the rules on me? I keep hearing incomplete. Does that mean a catch now? I can only hear, can't see.
Posted by: JackSparrow | August 24, 2012 at 09:01 PM
YG, that throw to Bess was behind him. Great concentration by Bess.
Plax Burress is available.
Posted by: IMAWriter | August 24, 2012 at 09:02 PM
John Abraham has ALWAYs given Jake trouble.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:02 PM
Dolphins are pitiful. No offense at all.
Posted by: Jay | August 24, 2012 at 09:03 PM
When a lineman holds, he is getting his butt kicked.
Posted by: JackSparrow | August 24, 2012 at 09:03 PM
Right on que. Jake Long can not block tonight so now he's holding. Great, wtf? The one guy I thought we could count on.
Posted by: Phins78 | August 24, 2012 at 09:03 PM
Orlando, Ross should of fired Ireland...He should of hired Eric DeCosta...Another bad season and I'm not sure this franchise will ever recover...Things aren't looking good...
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | August 24, 2012 at 09:03 PM
Again, Bess will catch over 80+ passes.
Bess is T-Hill best wr
Posted by: Dashi | August 24, 2012 at 09:04 PM
On Long? WTF! Sssaaackk! Wake has 2! Nice way to end half!
Posted by: redsky | August 24, 2012 at 09:04 PM
That's true Oscar, he has had trouble with him in the past.
Posted by: Phins78 | August 24, 2012 at 09:04 PM
The Animal is out! lol
Posted by: ithaca phin fan | August 24, 2012 at 09:04 PM
Tanne is the 1 guy we can count on.
No matter what he acts like a man.
Posted by: CadillacDeville | August 24, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Really, Dashi?
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Tannehill is friggin horrendous. How is he starting? LOL
Posted by: 732 | August 24, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Might as well start the kid in the 3rd. Can't get any worse than this. These players know not to break a rookie during pre-season. They will take it easy on him.
Posted by: JackSparrow | August 24, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Time to refill my drink.
Posted by: redsky | August 24, 2012 at 09:05 PM
Our whole WR unit is expendable besides bess...thats the hard truth...
Posted by: superPHIN | August 24, 2012 at 09:06 PM
On specifics, RT delivers a heavy ball as we have said. Receivers NEED to catch it.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:07 PM
Put Moore in the 3rd and Devlin in the 4th. Cut Garrard.
Posted by: redsky | August 24, 2012 at 09:08 PM
"Another bad season and I'm not sure this franchise will ever recover."
Come on Montreal really? That's a little much! :) As soon as they win you will see a full recovery, just like every where else in sports. Bad seasons piled on top of one another do hurt, but only when they're losing. It's not like if they're winning in a year or two fans are going to be like "Oh f**k that I'm not going to a game because they used to be so bad"! All of the band wagoners will be buying merchandise and tickets again.
Posted by: Phins78 | August 24, 2012 at 09:08 PM
Keep it in perspective. The Falcons are a very established team, coaches and players. It's all new on our side.
Posted by: TC | August 24, 2012 at 09:08 PM
I've seen enough. This team is a joke.
Posted by: Fin 77 | August 24, 2012 at 09:08 PM
Jack, don't count on the Falcons taking it easy. Mike Smith is a dirty coach.
I'm shocked we haven't had a serious injury as yet.
BTW, our pass rush looks a lot better. Thank Gd for that.
Posted by: IMAWriter | August 24, 2012 at 09:08 PM
LS of the OL is average at best what makes that group overall...Richie is ok not great Long hasn't played like his first two years, mike the jury is still out. No RG no RT
Your thoughts please..
Posted by: ray | August 24, 2012 at 09:09 PM
Overall, much better effort than last week was, specially on D. Atl's QB and receivers are no piece of cake.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:09 PM
Henne was better.
Posted by: Fin 77 | August 24, 2012 at 09:09 PM
Armando, wtf is going on with Brian Hartline??? Is he a paraplegic or something?
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | August 24, 2012 at 09:10 PM
What you drinking, redsky?
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:10 PM
exactly oscar. Fumblesano looks like he's never ready for it.
Posted by: ithaca phin fan | August 24, 2012 at 09:10 PM
Two weeks a go Armando and co. were screAming for Tannenhill as a starter, crushing Moore and exalting tannen´s 100+ qb rating...
I posted then that rating was against 2nd stringers...
I ask now... what is Tannen´s qb raiting AGAINST OPP STATERS so far??.. or last week rating??...
It´s not the same 2nd stringers than starters... Moore is a much better option RIGHT NOW, but you all need to sell tickets and papers, dont ya?? Why to risk Tannen this year with NO Wrs and such a poor Off line??
THE KID HAS TALENT BUT HE´S NOT READY... PERIOD... DONT KILL HIS CONFIDENCE!!
Posted by: sagneul | August 24, 2012 at 09:12 PM
I guess the OL is not a major concern. Good luck Tannehill you will need it with that crappy OL.
Posted by: ray | August 24, 2012 at 09:12 PM
At the end of the day, I cannot say the defense has played well. But they've played well enough. Thoughts?
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 24, 2012 at 09:14 PM
Fasano is, at best, a 3rd-string TE and has been for the last few years. The fact that he's still starting is an indictment of Ireland.
Posted by: Wheezy | August 24, 2012 at 09:14 PM
Tannehill has a QB rating of 40 at the half.
I've never seen a QB rating of 40 before.
Oh, I long for the good old days, when Miami was still an American city and the Dolphins organization was FEARED.
Now, we're living in the Banana Republic, where no one speaks English...soccer draws more fans than American football, and one can drive up and down the Palmetto and read signs on both sides of the expressway, IN SPANISH ONLY!
Ahhhh, I long for the good old days when Miami was a nice city...when the Dolphin fans were the loudest and the best in the NFL...now, we have a bunch of wetbacks from GOF**KYOURSELF EGYPT who have come to Miami and turned this once beautiful city into a crappola hole! AND, the Dolphins s*ck as much as Miami does these days...I can't wait (6 months at most) to leave here and move back to THE GOOD OLD USA!! (Broward County...LOL)
Posted by: UMcanes | August 24, 2012 at 09:14 PM
This year could be Ireland's worst draft class ever---pathetic
Posted by: 72perfectstill | August 24, 2012 at 09:14 PM
All a work in progress. Tanne looks like Henne out there. Where are the touch passes?
Posted by: Clue | August 24, 2012 at 09:14 PM
Strange that they have started what I would call 2nd team WR's(Moore, Gates, etc). But of course, the Coaches know better.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:15 PM
Phins78, "as soon as they win"...I've been hearing that since 1999...Lots of empty seats...Management forced to buy tickets to have games on local tv...We're in a salary cap mess and we have no playmakers...It doesn't look good...
Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | August 24, 2012 at 09:15 PM
Yardage wise we're neck and neck with Atlanta. Had stone hands Fasano not dropped the td pass the score would be neck and neck too(9-7).
Posted by: Yesterday's Gone | August 24, 2012 at 09:15 PM
sagneul I agree. After the announcement of Tannehill starting it took me exactly one minute to post those same thoughts. They have no wr's and are throwing our inexperienced rookie to the wolves.
And for what, experience? What experience is he getting when he has no help?!!!!!
Posted by: Phins78 | August 24, 2012 at 09:15 PM
pats getting rolled tonight
Posted by: bill connors | August 24, 2012 at 09:15 PM
UMcanes,
you're a drunk if you can't see that T-hill's receivers are dropping balls and killing drives left and right.
Posted by: Wheezy | August 24, 2012 at 09:16 PM
Not so good.
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:17 PM
Defense definitely didn't look terrible, could be better but I'll take FGs over TDs all season.
Posted by: ithaca phin fan | August 24, 2012 at 09:17 PM
yeah sad but true, u know its bad when ur asking for hartline
Posted by: bill connors | August 24, 2012 at 09:17 PM
I'll take the improvement in D any day of the week Mando!!
Posted by: robbyhernz | August 24, 2012 at 09:18 PM
Henne couldn't carry Tannehill's jock. Tannehill's the real deal.
Posted by: Seminole Sam | August 24, 2012 at 09:18 PM
Dolphins Defense is loking good !!!
Posted by: tony in miami | August 24, 2012 at 09:19 PM
At this point, I'd be happy with a V Davis and a mid-rd pick for a WR (Hilton maybe?) AND a 1st rounder
Posted by: ithaca phin fan | August 24, 2012 at 09:19 PM
78,
The speed of the game, decision making, and knowing defenses becomes more and more "memory muscle" the more Tannehill plaays. He cant get that sitting on the bench.
Posted by: Yesterday's Gone | August 24, 2012 at 09:19 PM
Another stop on D. Hmm..
Posted by: oscar canosa | August 24, 2012 at 09:19 PM
Montreal actually the Dolphins are in cap trouble this year but a lot is coming off the books next year and they are going to be set up to do well in free agency. I read that we should be in the top 10 for teams under the cap next season. At least there's that. And I know we are sick of hearing "
when they win" but you seriously don't expect them to be bad for the rest of our lives do you? That would be some feat.
Posted by: Phins78 | August 24, 2012 at 09:19 PM
Why not give the third stringers WR a chance? Can't do any worst that the first stringers. Except Bess!
Posted by: ray | August 24, 2012 at 09:19 PM
Defense definitely playing better
