The reaction following 30-13 loss to Dallas

Some reactions from Wednesday night's press conferences and open locker room session following the fourth loss in four tries this preseason -- this time a 30-13 loss to Dallas ...

Joe Philbin was realistic about how bad his team looked in this game:

"That's unacceptable," he said. "Poorly coached game. We didn't play well. We had a lot of penatlties. We had 12 men on the field. We didn't tackle well. We didn't score touchdowns. You guys saw the same game I did, it was not a good football game, not a good performance by our team. I'm the head coach of the team and that's a poor job by me getting them ready. That's the facts."

Philbin is worried that the team he sees in practice does not show up for games -- any games so far this preseason.

"Am I concerned? Yeah," Philbin said. "The confidence I gain is when I watch guys practice and perform well. We've been a good team in practice  but we haven't transfered that to the game on a consistent basis and that's a concern, absolutely."

Some offensive line notes: Jonathan Martin started at right tackle and moved over to left tackle in the second half. John Jerry play practically the whole game. This was his chance to win or lose the starting right guard job.

The issues at receiver has put the spotlight on players that were supposed to step forward this preseason but didn't. Clyde Gates was one of those. Yet Gates is content with how he performed.

"The hamstring I had kept me out of camp a few days and I missed a game but other than that I'm very happy with the camp I had," he said.

Does Gates think he deserves a to be on the team?

"Yeah, I think I should be. I can't look at it no other way."

Understand that's one man's opinion. Gates has not been told he is on the team. "No I haven't been told I'm good. I'm just going with it, contoling what I can control. I've done everything they asked me to do. Whatever they asked me, I went out there and did it."

One of the most puzzling situations this training camp has been the play of Matt Moore. He completed only 4 of 12 passes this game. He completed only 20 of 51 passes this preseason. He threw two interceptions, including a pick six and didn't throw a TD or get the offense in the end zone.

I asked Moore why he has been unable to play this preseason anywhere close to as well as he did last year, understanding he played last year against starters and this preseason he's play primarily against backups.

"I don't know," Moore said. "I don't have an answer for you. I have to go back and look at the tape and continue to get better."

The regular season begins Sept. 9 at Houston. The Dolphins have 11 days to move heaven and earth and play well.

It's unfortunate that the Fins took so much faith in Johnson, Parcells, etc... They were all past their primes and the game evolved past what they knew and were good at. They won championships with big ass O-lines, running games, play action passes and sound defense. You have to win now with the quick passing game, zone running systems(athletic O-lines) and sound defense.Ireland learned from Bill and is set in his ways.We gotta find a new guy who is schooled on the times

..Phins 78..I don't believe anything about Ireland was unreasonable, or lacked objectivity. Addmitedly I think he needs to be replaced. I said in my post that you cannot blame Ireland for all of the reasons the Phins are in the situation we are in now. My point is that he hasn't done anything to improve the team. We have continually gotten worse under his short stint as the man in charge of personel. I can't see(not that my opinion is the gosphel..just how I feel) how if you look at this team now you can say Ireland has done well.

It is the big boy football. If the team had shon signs of an upward trend, perhaps Ireland would get the benifit of the doubt. Or people like me wouldn't be so vocal about my distrust of his decision making. I don't think this is unfair, or unwarranted. Have his picks had enough time to be evaluated on their true value? Probably not, have the big time free agents that were dropped in his lap by Parcells not worked out? Yup. Did trying to develop Henne stall the vision for this team..Of course. All of these factors can be argued on his behalf. I just think we can keep getting the football pulled out from our feet like Charlie Brown, and make excuses for where we find ourselves. Or choose to see it for what it is..How long do we stick with Ireland before enough is enough considering the state of our roster?

Truth.
I don't that same story. It was on Joe Rose show, but there some idiots here that think JI is great GM ever!!

For the record...The trade for Bush, the signing of Wake(which may have been Parcells) and the drafting of T Hill are the only good moves I can remember Ireland making in 4 years...If Clay develops like I think he will that may be an addition. He has failed in every other aspect

Most of Ireland's good moves are moves he didn't make. Just imagine if he caved and signed Flynn, or traded for Orton, or even drafted Dez "my momma supported me by having sex" Bryant

I'd love to have Dez Bryant on our team instead of Odick.

Well when you come in waving a big stick at the players and tryhing to make bold statements by cutting and releasing important veterans just because you want to 'let em know who's boss' this is what you get.....players not wanting to play for you.

Doesn't work like that ROOKIE COACH.

Fans stay away from the stadium. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS SAD PRODUCT ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR.

Philbin will be the 2nd Cam Cameron. Very similar feel.

But Philbin is the only guy that would work with Ireland.

This season is starting to resemble the 1-15 season. Just when you think things couldn't get worse it does. The pain of being a Dolphin fan.

Have Chelsea signed Schurrle yet? Now that's a real franchise.

Fins are a joke franchise. National laughingstock. Texans beatdown will not be for faint of heart. Texans are a real franchise just starting to taste success, and they will overwhelm Fins game one.

LMAO at Yesterdays Gone's post at 12;57am

Like Jeff Ireland or not, we all have to admit the man knows an acorn from a seed pod.

Jonathan Martin sure looked more comfortable at left tackle. Maybe Long can move over to the right. It wont be as tough on his oft-injured body. Pouncy should be moved to right guard, and Samadu started at center, but John Jerry did redeem himself a bit. The secondary can't cover and can't hit. Long season, for sure. Good luck Philbin..

Hi! I've been reading your website for some time now and finally got the courage to go ahead and give you a shout out from Houston Texas! Just wanted to tell you keep up the good job!
