« Dolphins dismantle Raiders 35-13 to even record | Main | Without getting too crazy, things are looking up »

AFC East one big happy knot

The Dolphins beat the Raiders and evened their record at 1-1.

The Jets lost to Pittsburgh so they are 1-1.

The Bills beat Kansas City in their home-opener. They are 1-1.

And the Patriots missed a potential game-winning field goal in the final seconds to lose to the Arizona Cardinals, 20-18 in Foxborough, Mass. Amazingly, the Patriots are 1-1.

Everyone is tied after two weeks!

How about that ...

Feeling good about the fins...the 2013 or 2014 fins...today was just a stepping stone in the long climb back to relevancy

Odin, Does "Fin78" Know about you and Dashi?

Phin78
Sorry to inform you but your man is now courting Dushi, or is it Dashi, Not sure but.............
Oh Well.who really cares.

Agreed.

This team has maybe 4-5 question marks left

1 Wr
1 TE
1 Safety
1 LB

And over 10 picks next year. Another DE will be nice, but let's see how Vernon and Shelby develop.

This team is only really a season away from competing for a long time again.

Again look at tom Brady this year without a LT! Garbage!

Manning only lasted one season in Indy after his LT retired.

And Marino's career really went south once Webb wasn't protecting his blind side.

Who is Cutler's LT? Yea, they got great Wr's but if u don't have time to throw? Does it even matter who is the Wr.

Give Jake his money. It will not be a big difference in salary cap figure. Jake is already getting paid 10+!!! It's not like he is getting an increase to his salary, just an extension.

Allegedly the fins will be paying Jake less if they franchise tag him next year. He will go from $15 mil cap figure to like $12 mil. So common sense says Jake isn't going anywhere.

Guy's get a grip, It was Oakland,Pat each other on the bottom side when they beat a good team on there own field.
Other then that....... Continue to dream.

That's funny because the other night when you were "just passin by" you said everyone was delusional if they thought Miami would win this week.

Now it's what, you knew they were going to win because it was obvious? Please just stop. Just come back when they lose again and tell everyone how stupid we are. Get the f**k out with that BS.

1 week up. 1 and 1. Best record after 2 games than we have had for years. After last week... I figured we were done. But this is looking up.

Hate cops. Damn pigs. If he's gonna run em over than he's a winner in my book. A franchise tag on Long would be brutal towards our cap. 15 million against 40 someodd million we'll have would be devastating. Again, I don't know who's going to be a FA from other teams next season but sign us someone ANYONE for our secondary who's worth top dollar and draft us a WR, CB, MLB with our 3 1-2nd round picks next season OR trade back into the 1st or up in the 1st for a stud WR or CB. But don't gamble an screw up like the lions did with drafting 3 WR in 3 years in the top 5 and only hitting on one (Johnson)

ray,

Have anothe drink man. Only a fool would take a day like today to continue harping on about Ireland. But keep it up...it's entertaing!

But I give your props for at least showing up. Most of the Ireland haters are afraid to even show their faces after a day like today. I don't think any of us are surprised.

"MD20. I think he deserves a top LT contract. I guess that's Joe Thomas' contract. You got to pay somebody and it should be your QB, WR, TE, DE, CB, T, and S. Long fits the bill as well as anyone. Pay the man he's got five great years left in him."

Mark,

Five great years??? Not sure how you can say that after the way he has played the last two weeks. JJ Watt & Shaughnessy were both dominating him. Maybe his knee is still bothering him but he does not look like the All-Pro LT he has been in the past.

Guy's get a grip, It was Oakland,Pat each other on the bottom side when they beat a good team on there own field.
Other then that....... Continue to dream.

Troll Boy, if we had just won by a TD, your post might make a little sense. But, as usual, you don't have a lick of it.

Oakland couldn't even score a TD on us and we ran up the score. Should've been in the 40's easily!

So, yeah, irt was Oakland. And it was US the Miami Dolphins that absolutely trounced them, Rookies and All!

Give it up Troll, you don't stand a chance trying to drum up blog hits that way.

(Dooh, he just got me ;)

Dolphins are pure garbage. Dont be fooled by beating the crap Raiders in the heat with their 38 yr old coach.

We have RB's.... his pla has been subpar?? By who's standards? Come on man, he's the ONLY player in the NFl that has been a four time pro bowler drafted in the last five years.

No one said they were going to the super bowl, no one is "patting each others bottoms". You are reading posts from fans who are happy their team won. You are obviously not a fan if you're not happy about a win. Why even pass by? Just pass right on through and keep it shut, no one cares. Let people be happy about a dominating win you douc&e.

Just passing by I love the hate. Keep it coming. Love it! We didn't beat a bad team, we destroyed a bad team, which is what we should do. Doesn't make us a playoff contender but it shows we aren't a bottom-of-the-barrel top 5 draft pick team. It's progress buddy. Enjoy the win, don't let your negative pride get in the way. If you're a true phin phan you should be enjoying this week. Otherwise go pout somewhere else

Posted by: MiamiD20 | September 16, 2012 at 08:58 PM

Dude, I love it, There in first place, I would love a win over the jets though.

Who cares? I guess just you.

We need a shut down corner really bad. A better safety might help also. Think cutting ties with Vonte was probably a mistake. A good passing team is going to eat us up.

Think we should really think about throwing some money at Gaffney or another vet receiver. Really think Johnson goofed our plan up for this year. A better speed receiver who could get up the field would really help open Bess and Hartline up.

Maybe we need to tell Nanee or however you spell his name to change that number 19 to something else. That number is cursed and should never be worn again.

Go Dolphins!! Seems the players are starting to buy into Philbin a little. Hope they throw some money at Bush he is a class act and hard worker and you can never have to many of those on a Team.

Shula71,

Great post but I disagree with you on Vontae. Yes we need a lock down corner but Vonte was too inconsistent. I have no problems with getting a future 2nd round pick for him.

We have RBs: every team has holes somewhere, its just a matter of which holes you can survive with and which holes will make you sink.

Miami only really needs a stud CB and a stud WR. We can survive with our TE hole as the ones we have are very serviceable at the least. We have a hole at safety but if Jones can come together and we get that second CB we can survive with an OK safety. We only need major upgrades at WR and somewhere in the secondary, CB specifically. If we can sure up those two spots I can live with all those other holes.

Phins78,

It's funny, all this time I thought this blog for for fans of the Miami Dolphins to come and talk football. By I see it's not that at all. It's a bunch of guys who come here and cut up the Dolphins and criticize managment and berate the players and complain about life and then when the team has a great day they disappear.

So either it's a blog for NON-Dolphin fans/'Phin haters (read Jet/Pat fans) or it's one guy who likes to post under a great many names, who doesn't come out after a victory.

What do you think? Would it be crickets in here if this team ever won a Super Bowl? I think for the most part it would be.

BOYCOTT THE FINS UNTIL IRELAND IS FIRED! WE'RE TIRED OF THE LOSING! HELP MAKE A CHANGE!

JPB, there is no better feeling than beating the Jests. And now that Tony is on their sideline it would only make that feeling that much sweeter. If we beat the Jests we can get rid of all of that negativity that our team is complete garbage. If it's a close game that we lose than it proves we're more a 6-10 team than average, but if we get blown out we'll need to start worrying all over again.

Phin78

See what I mean?

Just because he and his "Friends" down at the Rainbow Room operate this way, he thinks everyone does. For him, the Man on Man stuff is just business as usual.

Don't forget to Brush Little Queenie ;)

Any person that posts on a blog that isn't their favorite teams blog needs to get a life (ie: a jest fan posting on this site needs a life)

Phin 78, Dont kill the messenger, Not my fault about Duochi or Dashi And Odin,
Who cares, WhaT his name is?

THE BOYCOTT IS WORKING!! 30,000 EMPTY SEATS FOR THE OPENER DESPITE ALL THE PROMOTIONS! ROSS IS GETTING THE MESSAGE!

Craig M
I have much respect for your comments very knowledgeable about the game, but you see that JI is nothing but a loser, clueless
Just my opinion and about 100,000 other people! Just ask some of the successful GM in the league.

Again

JAKE LONG IS THE ONLY #1 PICK SINCE PEYTON TO GO TO MORE THAN 4 PROBOWLS.

NOT VICK
NOT MARIO
NOT ELI
NOT CARSON
NOT MARIO
NOT RUSSELL

No FORMER #1 SINCE PEYTON HAS BEEN TO MORE THAN 3 PROBOWLS

UNTIL JAKE LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So stop insulting the SAFEST PICK IN NFL HISTORY!!!!

Give credit to Martin what happened to the bust talk?

Philbin played the rookie out of him in the preseason!

Any day that the Pasties and the Wets get beat is always a good day; now add in a Dolphin victory to this and it makes it a great day. I know its only Week 2, but doesn't it feel good to be tied for 1st after 0-7 to start last year? All the 0-16ers out there please proceed to another site. This one is for 1st place patrons. I don't know how long its going to last, but for at least one week, I'm darn proud to be a Dolphin Fan. WETS GOING DOWN NEXT WEEK!! GO FINS!!!

Dashi and Odin and Coalition are all the same person.

Um.......#winning.

Clay is a bust, however.

"We have RB's.... his pla has been subpar?? By who's standards? Come on man, he's the ONLY player in the NFl that has been a four time pro bowler drafted in the last five years."

Mark,

His play has been sub-par THIS year. Did you watch the pressure that has been coming from Tannehill's blind side in the last two games??? First it was J.J. Watt & today it was from Shaughnessy.

Did you see the hits Tannehill took today??? He almost got killed on one of them. Jake has to do a better job to make sure that Tannehill can make it through this season b/c if he doesn't that will really hurt his development & ultimately this team's development.

The Long pick is indefensible. Period. Pro bowls are irrelevant.

I don't buy this notion that we should dismiss this win against a "lowly" team. Traveling AZ beat the Pats and Seattle crushed the Cowboys. All wins are tough and are earned the hard way. So congrats to the Dolphins on this fine win!

Remember, this team has had a pattern of shooting itself in the foot by making costly mistakes and being inconsistent. There weren't many mistakes to be seen today and the units gelled. Put it all together for 4 solid quarters and you got yourself a win.

And the best thing about this win is that I saw a lot of confidence on offense - something I never saw under the Sparano/Henne era. We can thank Bush, Tanny, and Hartline for getting this team going. Tanny did quite well after last week. I haven't seen that level of confidence and leadership at QB since Marino. Now let's keep the momentum going.

Wisconsin,

Cheers to you, buddy! You're dead right, it's been a while since we could celebrate a victory. Somehow finishing 6-3 at the end of last year felt hollow. It's was the cherry on top of shyte. Meant nothing! 1-1 at least let's us breath for a couple of days. The reality is we're going nowhere this year but it's nice to win a game in this kind of style.

Cheapo Ross wont resign Jake Long.

Direland,

Excellent post @9:21pm

Long got us to 6-10. Matty "Ice" Ryan is 45-19. NUFF SAID.

Craig M, I raise by beverage to you. Go Fins!!!

Hold up clown!!!!

What is it Dashi and Odin are the same person? Dashi and Odin are close?

Or is it Dashi and Odin got ur number? (Dashi picks this one)

I guess since we won, let me resort to personal insult's.

Just cause we exposed ur relationship with the guy above. Shame

Weren't u going out? Damn it must suck to be u!

Ur amigo had to do someone else.

I noticed on ESPN no one gave any love to the Dolphins. In fact, only a passing mention was made of the final score. I guess I shouldn't be at all surprised. Most Power Rankings had us at 32 after last week's showing against the Texans. And, everyone knows that the Raiders aren't that good. But, a win is a win! And, they'll have to give us some love if we go on a winning streak; which is very do-able with our schedule. Beating the Jets WILL make a statement to the NFL and to our old coach, Sparano!

Bask in the glory of a win at home....then get ready for Sanchez and his clown circus!

GO FINS!!!

"We have RBs: every team has holes somewhere, its just a matter of which holes you can survive with and which holes will make you sink.

MiamiD20,

Are you watching the Niners??? Some teams have more holes(& larger ones) than others.

I thought Jones actually played very well today but I'm not sure on Clemons. As for TE we need a pass catching threat in the worst way. I was hoping that guy would be Clay but so far it's been all Fasano. Can you imagine if Tannehill had a veteran TE like a Heath Miller or a rookie TE like Coby Fleener??? I'm telling you he'd look better than he looked today & considering it's only his 2nd game in the NFL the kid played pretty damn well.

Craig I think it's a fan or a couple fans of another team just trying to have fun.

Now going on an opposing teams website and posting 24/7 with negative and belittling comments may not seem like something a person who is sane would find fun, but to each his own.

And some of these guys think maybe the people who say these things are trying to get us fired up so we post more. I'm not sure if I believe that and I would like to see some evidence before I buy into the theory.

But I have to say, in defense of the people who think that, some of the posts are just utterly ridiculous. I can see why they would believe it's a ploy.

Either way, if everyone would just ignore the really obviously bad posts this wouldn't be a problem. I'm guilty some times but have been much better lately. I just don't care what they think.

I love to debate people who have different views, it's not that. It's the people who you can tell are saying stupid crap just to get a rise out of someone that need to be ignored. They don't use any facts, there is no debate, all just shock posting. "I'm going to say something REALLY dumb and see who I can get to fight with me". Just pathetic oxygen thieves.

No turn overs. Good effort throughout but great execution in the 2nd half. We sustain that execution from the beginning we are going to win the Games we are supposed to win, and might surprise a few very good Teams.

WHRBS, I don't agree with you re: Long but cheers to you. We all are entitled to our opinions and you support your opinions. I think Watt did most of his damage against Martin and Jerry last week and I thought Miller was the chief culprit on one of the plays Long got guff for btu whatever ... to each their own.

U clowns are serious?

Let's discredit the individual with the teams performance.

Is matt Ryan a top 10 qb? No

Is Long the best LT in the game? Yes. Plain and simple. U would have to be retarded to think otherwise. Common f'n sense. Grow up people, open ur eyes and stop being so f'n bias.

Who stacks up to him award for award. Not even guys that are 5-7 years older than him.

Long and J.Thomas are the W.Jones and O.Pace of this time. The 2 best LT's in the game by a long shot.

Matt Ryan won't even be better than T-Hill come next season. Give T-Hill the same weapons. Or just Atlanta's Wr and Te's.

I am watching the San Francisco/Detroit game and NBC had a closeup of the 49ers punter where you could VERY clearly see the outline of his penis and testicles (he doesn't appear to be very well-endowed, by the way).
Usually, players wear athletic cups that hide their genitalia but I guess punters just let it 'all hang out' as they say.

Just Passing By, C'Mon Man! You do this all the time and think you have a right to say anything about anybody?

Just get your knee pads and go get that Meth money. Just pass right on by, you won't be missed.

C'Mon Mando, is he REALLY that good? Are you going to say that when he gets you busted?

"I am watching the San Francisco/Detroit game and NBC had a closeup of the 49ers punter where you could VERY clearly see the outline of his penis and testicles (he doesn't appear to be very well-endowed, by the way)."

See what I mean? I'm out, I'm already having trouble breathing from the lack of oxygen in here. Freakin thieves! ;)

Whether Long was the right pick v Ryan is not the issue facing the Dolphins now. That's gone. Jake's next contract is the issue now and LT is still a prime position and we have one of the best so why not keep him??

"I don't buy this notion that we should dismiss this win against a "lowly" team. Traveling AZ beat the Pats and Seattle crushed the Cowboys. All wins are tough and are earned the hard way. So congrats to the Dolphins on this fine win!

Direland,

Excellent points. Wins are tough to come by & we've been terrible at home the last couple of years. Philbin is clearly the anti-Sparano & it appears that Tannehill is the anti-Henne. I can't even remember the last time Henne didn't throw an INT.

I have ripped Ireland on this blog MANY times for his draft picks but I really think this may turn out to be a great traft. I also like Philbin as HC & I also believe Tannehill is going to be a very good QB.

BTW--How about Lamar Miller & Kheeston Randall (a 7th round pick) playing pretty damn well...

I grew up with the running Game and even if the shoulder-pads clash might not be there anymore, I love a running lane being formed with a good back going thru it, and beyond.

Still in the cellar.....

Man, Willis hits with intention. Serious intention.

What do Frogs know about football?

Dashi, I'm saying this as a Dolfan, you said Tom Brady was garbage! After that statement how could I possibly believing ANYTHING you say???

It's funny, I've looked through all these pages and I haven't read anyone saying 'Tannehill's a reach', 'Isn't ready for the NFL', 'Should be benched'. All the usual crap. Where did all that stuff go? Dried up like an old witches, p*ssy. Interesting...

Mark, you must have had a big smile on your face like me when you saw that effort put in by Marshall Thursday night. The guy's the best at coming up 'small' when it's needed most. Good riddance!

Here comes the Lions!

These fools can make a big statement tonight.

They were in the same boat as us not to long ago. They made the playoffs last year and a win against the niners would really make a statement.

They're down by 8 right now and I'm going to tell you right now, The lIONS WILL WIN THIS GAME.

i'M NO lIONS FAN, BUT THEY DID LAY DOWN A GOOD BLUE-PRINT ON HOW TO RE-bUILD a team.

(Damn Cap Locks)

Dashi aka Odindouche aka Coalition has zero credibility.

Whether Long was the right pick v Ryan is not the issue facing the Dolphins now. That's gone. Jake's next contract is the issue now and LT is still a prime position and we have one of the best so why not keep him??

Mark,

Agreed that Long vs. Ryan is a non-issue. The issue is whether Long can stay healthy & justify us giving him an extremely large contract.

Craig,

I was loving that HUGE drop from Marshall & I'm glad he's Chicago's & Cutler's problem. I have no problems with trading away Marshall & Vontae. Marshall has a LONG history of beating up women (as well as being an overall jerkoff) & Vontae might have scored a three on his Wonderlic test at the combine.

btw, that was a great job by the Coaches of really nailing the coffing on the opponent

Craig, what we saw from the piece of garbage marshall is the same thing I remember from his two years here. When things start to go bad, he turtles and drops TD passes.

I wrote the same things when he was here.

People were blaming Cutler but and saying Marshall was double covered. Well, heck all the other top wideouts get double covered too and still find a way to do something. how Marshall keeps getting excused by the analysts when he's done this three years running at least is beyond me.

yeah, he can show up against a young Indy team but against men like GB, he sucks the big rod. F*** HIM!
