The Dolphins needed this. A franchise that has taken more gut punches than Rocky needed to land a couple of shots of its own and today was the time.
The Dolphins knocked out the Raiders, 35-13.
It really wasn't that close.
Miami dominated in every phase in the second half. Yes, the home field advantage may have had something to do with it because Oakland players seemed a step slower, some even fatigued. Notice the three defensive backs chasing Reggie Bush on his 65-yard TD didn't gain any ground.
But the humidity was not the reason Miami won. They were just the better team today. They got a great performance from the running game, first with Bush shredding the Raiders and even rookie Lamar Miller doing damage, including his first career TD run.
Ryan Tannehill outplayed veteran Carson Palmer.
And the line of scrimmage belonged to the Dolphins -- particularly in the second half.
It was also a good job by the coaching staff that addressed the ills of last week's batted passes. There were none by the Raiders today.
It was a total butt-whipping, folks.
Enjoy.

Congratulations!

I wanna hear all the haters hate. I wanna hear all the creative (lackthereof) excuses and bs that spews out of their mouth.
Tonight we feast boys. Great win by Miami. Tannehill improved from his mistakes last week and Philbin's WCO paid off, Raiders were gassed. Hartline looking like a perfect WCO fit. Am I excited? You f*****g bet!

and yes - nice job with Pats choking on it - good day for the fins fans. Shut it naysayers
Posted by: Nino | September 16, 2012 at 04:26 PM
Bush, Fields and Starks are playing at All Pro level. Offensive line was just dominant (except for couple Sacks given up by Long). So damn nice to get a win! Hartline was real good. Clemons was only glaring weakness, especially on the screen pass. So happy for these guys!

thank god he came back like i knew he would and shut you up by playing a solid game and making no mistakes.

Good team win. Been a long time since we've seen something like this at home.
Now tell me again why Lamar Miller was inactive last week Mr. Ireland? And why in god's name is Nanee still on this football team?
Coach Philbin and his staff know what they're doing. Now they just need a personnel department to feed them talent........
Posted by: Old Warrior | September 16, 2012 at 04:30 PM
DOLPHINS WON THIS GAME WITH THEIR ONE STAR PLAYER (BUSH) WHO WILL BE GONE A YEAR FROM NOW, AND COACHING AGAINST A DREADFUL TEAM. LMAO @ PHINS FANS WHO THINK THIS IS A GREAT THING, IRELAND HAS TO GO...HIS TEAM IS TALENT DEFICIENT. FEEL GOOD ABOUT THE WIN IF YOU LIKE, TANNEHILL, PHILBIN THESE ARE POSITIVES. IRELAND HANDLING THE DRAFT IN APRIL BECAUSE THE PHINS WIN 5-6 GAMES AGAINST A SOFT SCHEDULE TEAMS = NEGATIVE.

FIRE IRELAND NOW.
I agree that the Fins are a bad team, but give it a rest for a day or so. They won today.
Relax, you sound pathetic.
Posted by: The Fins Suck | September 16, 2012 at 04:35 PM
When was the last time we scored 35 in a game? Good game good win!
Posted by: buckeyephinfan | September 16, 2012 at 04:35 PM
Great win boys!!!! Now if they cut the invisible man Nannee I'll be even happier...Add Chris Clemons to that list. He's horrible...
Posted by: turd ferguson | September 16, 2012 at 04:36 PM
..I have to come here and eat a little crow. I didn't think we would win this game this handily...Kudos to those who called this. I also thought the Raiders were better then us..Wrong again.
That was a sweet sweet game..The blueprint for victory right there..Run the ball, no turnovers, let Tanny get settled, and do not ask him to do too much.. It was nice to see him get comfortable in half 2..He looked great. A total team victory. The best part of the game for me, and something I haven't seen at a home game was the standing ovation for Reggie Bush in quarter 4..That was cool.
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | September 16, 2012 at 04:36 PM
Give it a F##cking rest Fire Ireland. We all get your point. Now STFU. DO YOU LIVE IN VEGAS? If so let's get together face to face and talk. If not come on down and let's talk. Let me enjoy a GOD DAMN WIN! STFU.
Posted by: The Biocentric | September 16, 2012 at 04:37 PM
Does this mean we might actually get a week off from all the 'Fire Ireland BS'....
Nah, probably too much from this fan base. They'll only say 'we should have won this game'...'the Raiders are nothing'....blah blah blah....
Whatever guys, how about we hear it for the guy Ireland traded for (Reggie Bush....BIG game!), the guy he drafted (Brian Hartline) and the other two guys he drafted (Tannehill and Miller).
Stick that up your a** haters!
Posted by: Craig M | September 16, 2012 at 04:38 PM
Fire Ireland Now, no need to shout all the time, we already know you are an idiot. Now go to bed it is way past your bedtime.
Posted by: verbalkint1 | September 16, 2012 at 04:38 PM
Yeah fire Ireland now I love it! Keep it coming. Keep spewing the hate you're only gonna make me orgasm if you keep it up. Drink that Haterade. Chug it buddy! Hehe this will be a good week...jests down 3-0 to start the game and Patsys choke....gonna be a good week
Posted by: MiamiD20 | September 16, 2012 at 04:38 PM
Nice to see the progress from week 1 for TanneHill. He will have his ups and downs but if he keeps moving forward and learning he will be good. Made some real nice throws today and looked off the receivers. Nice win

DD, kudos for your last pot. That's what real fans do.
Posted by: The Biocentric | September 16, 2012 at 04:40 PM
Trolls go away.
No, baring a miracle we won't win the AFC East, or a wildcard berth,
but this will be a treat watching Tanny. We can only hope Long cash do a better job on pass blocking, or Ryan's gonna get hurt.
More agressive defense earlier, please.
This was so much fun. lets hope there' more to come.
Those "winnable games' are not so winnable, IMO Mando.
Luck was LUCK today, and the Bengals and Cardinals, Bills?
Seems these days, NO game is a guarantee.

Weird season reason #412: eagles have 9 turnovers in two games, are 2-0 for first time since 2004

LOL WATCHIN NOW
Posted by: P.a yuengs-n-wings | September 16, 2012 at 04:45 PM
..There are always parts of a game to critique. We have all week to micro anaylize this game. For now we freekin won!!! If you can't dig this without examining the negatives I feel bad for you..Let it go. The team played it's butt off. Enjoy it for a day.
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | September 16, 2012 at 04:46 PM
Should of kept Vonte and got rid of Clemons. This kid sucks. He couldn not cover a bed with a blanket.

Tanne looked good. How bout the Chemistry with Hartline! Man, that was satisfying!

Rg3 td. He just makes people look stupid
Posted by: inimounts | September 16, 2012 at 04:48 PM
Seattle is up early against Dallas and jets still unexplainably looking good. Couple of tough weeks before cincy.
Posted by: inimounts | September 16, 2012 at 04:50 PM
There was an EVIL hit on special teams today. Enjoyed the game
Posted by: ChadPenn | September 16, 2012 at 04:51 PM
As I said before. That's the beauty of the NFL. Every year, every game, every team is unpredicable. Try handicapping the NFL. Over 50% is considered good. Last year we had a guy win a a local big casino NFL year long contest at over 60%. Big anomaly. As realted to the Fins, you never know. I'm not saying we're awesome but last year once again, out here in Vegas no even considered the Niners anything but an after thought bu looky whar happened. :)
Posted by: The Biocentric | September 16, 2012 at 04:51 PM
DD, at least the crow is tasting mighty sweet, bud!
I didn't see Hartline coming.
Remember, Tanny and Hartline have had only 2 weeks to get on the same page.
If Hartline can get some speed on the other side to keep coverage 1 on 1 on Brian, Hartline could have an 80 catch season.
Bess will be the loser in this, but he'll be no less a team guy.
If Armstrong can recover, and give us a deep threat, that will open it more for our WCO short game, and especially the run.
Posted by: IMAWriter | September 16, 2012 at 04:52 PM
Just look at Bush's stats for the day! Absolutely Awesome!I think his prediction will come true!
Posted by: Jake in Pa | September 16, 2012 at 04:52 PM
Big deal. We beat a west coast team after a cross country trip and a short week. Quite honestly doesn't mean a thing
Posted by: amsmith965 | September 16, 2012 at 04:52 PM
I'm glad we won but what's the difference between Tannehill and Henne right now?
Posted by: Clue | September 16, 2012 at 04:53 PM
I'll take the W as a fin fan BUT...My only issue is that those passes from Tanne to Hartline all day will most likely result in multiple pick 6 against good backs like the Jets or against a good HC like Belicheat who will adjust very early. So although we got a W especially at Home, we have a long way to go and that's an understatement.
Posted by: NY "G" | September 16, 2012 at 04:54 PM
Clue..seriously?
Troll.
Posted by: IMAWriter | September 16, 2012 at 04:55 PM
Hartline looked good today, seems to be their best receiver. But next game teams are gonna key in on him to shut him down!
Dolphins need receivers bad, Best and Hartline are no starting receivers. They are posession receivers.
Posted by: DadOfTheDay | September 16, 2012 at 04:55 PM
Dad, since when was a possession receiver not a "starter?"
Tell that to Welker, and fur tore HOF Hines Ward, Steve Largent, etc.
Will the less gifted intellectually please go away?

"Future"
Posted by: IMAWriter | September 16, 2012 at 04:57 PM
IMAWriter. I'm not trolling but Tannehill just played game manager today we need him to step up this season. Look what Luck did today we need some of that from Tanny
Posted by: Clue | September 16, 2012 at 04:58 PM
let them have fun, the casual fan always over reacts to a win. glad they showed improvement, thill didnt look good but was way better than last week. thats all i care about is developing the team. any wins this year will comeback to haunt us if we dont get first pick. but nice job coaching staff and players. carson palmer is horrible btw
