I confess that I don't know Joe Philbin well enough to vouch for exactly where he's coming from. I don't always know when he's kidding or serious. I don't know if he's a fiery motivator or professorial schemer. I can guess, but I cannot say I know 100 percent.
So today I asked coach if he's got a pregame or night-before speech ready to go for Saturday night or Sunday.
"I've got some ideas," Philbin said. "Sometimes I go on instinct but there's some thoughts I have, a couple of things I'm toying around with. They'll be different than some of my famous ones in Green Bay that I used to do the day before. I have to change up because I can't be quite the way I was when I was an assistant."
Um, ok, I'll bite: What was your most famous speech, coach?
"Probably the one where I dressed up like a pilgrim the day before a Thanksgiving Day game," Philbin said. "That's probably the most famous one."
Seriously?
"I'm totally serious," said the former Green Bay offensive coordinator. "I sent my wife out to the costume store. I had the buckles and the big hat and the whole bit. The point was we were playing the Lions and so it was Thanksgiving and they knew that over the years I'd done some spoofs on the Boston Marathon and the midnight ride of Paul Revere. I'd rubbed Massachusetts in their face. So the real point was we have to stick together like a family and play like a team. That was kind of the message."

The playoffs are unlikely this season...BUT do not underestimate this team.
I've yet to really see a full pass rush from our D-line this preseason...lot's of talent that needs to settle down and jell.
I've yet to see Bush & Thomas or even Miller show their true speed during the preseason.
Our LB corps is above average on paper...can that translate to INT's on the field?
Shake up in the secondary needs to be vetted before any judgement can be passed on this unit...we all know how many games we lost last year by this unit alone.
WR....nuff said
Special Teams - I am very impressed with this unit thus far in preseason and if we can get a few TD's from them it could be the difference in W's vs. L's.
Finally - Coaching....we all were happy to see Sparano & Co. leave Miami. There were high-profile names kicked around to replace him and in the end we wound up with a first time coach from a winning organization. It can go one of two ways:
1. Cam Cameron
2. Jim Harbaugh
I'll be rooting for the Fins from my couch in NH all season long, and while some posters call this team a JOKE, I continue to support my favorite team when the need it most.

Odin @ 3:56 Agreed, Great Post!!
Buddy is just about done. Maybe at first he thought he was winning at something? Even at the Other Paper.
But Mr. Jet Bully has been getting a Biscayne Whooping over and over. Oscar Aka Mr.1001! U have gone from blog Bully to Blog Bottom B!tch.
Dashi's Over/Under on his nonsense puts it at week 6. His schtick is on the ropes. He's done like Pacquiao, Get off the Juice buddy. GAME OVER, UR CORNY
-------------------------------------------------------
Philbin is passionate about his Football. He did say it was as an Assistant. Maybe as a HC he's more conservative. He'll let one of the Players dress up.
Now Philbin has recently stated what he looks for in a Football player and maybe it'll give ya some insight?
“A guy that comes in a little bit early, gets his lift in, gets a good meal in, comes to the meetings attentive, sits there and listens and takes notes, laughs a little bit, enjoys what he’s doing, is passionate about what he’s doing, practices hard and learns from the mistakes that he makes in practice. I’m looking for guys that are good, honest guys, good teammates and unselfish guys. I’m not looking for any super heroes or guys with capes on or anything like that but just guys that like the game, respect the game and come in and give us an honest day.”
Explains why alot of guys aren't here. No Attitude, Just Hard Workers that Love Football. Of Course Talent is Implied. Coach is just talking about the makeup.
Dashi Also likes that Philbin will be picking new Captains every week based on Performance and Leadership.
Again, the Season hasn't started so why not be a little Optimistic>
7-9, 11-5 if we can upset Houston. Armstrong and The Secret Weapon (Hartline) are a Upgrade over what we had on the Pre-Season.
Good Decision on not Picking Up any players over 30 off the Waiver Wire. We need to find out what we have at RG, TE, LB, and Safety this year. Not Patch it up for 1 or 2 Seasons.

We need Tannhill to dress up as Dan Marino. Maybe two receivers could dress up as Duper and Clayton. Then maybe we could live the impossible dream.
Go Dolphins!!Keep asking myself what if they win? Strange question to ask yourself of a team you have been rooting for even while in the womb. Dad caused all this.
My wife would not let me cancel my Direct TV said I would regret it. Hope she is right as usual. Pulling that band wagon in Ohio Boys. The horse is getting a little tired though.
Clicking my heals Their is no place like Key West. Their is no place like Key West.

How can anyone expect a coach, any coach be hired and expected to lead 53 morons. Anyone with half a brain can see that by watching Hard Knocks. If Chad Johnson and others are not considered morons, then I dont know what a moron is. Half cant speak the english language, or have a single thought without falling down. They, sports media, wants to know if the players "buy into" the coaches game plans and offense or defense? Dont the playes get paid to do whatever their coaches say? Isnt that the way of the world with boss's and such? These Miami 53 are truly morons.

If this team can only score 13 pts why Hire Philbin? Or Sherman as OC?
These are guys that ran Top 5 NFL Offenses at some Point in the last 5-10 Years.
Look at it this way. Philbin took the Job this year and he's already got his QB, might've fixed the O-line(IF not Dashi Believes Next Year the O-Line will be complete.), Traded Players for Picks, We started the Preseason with a Highly Questionable WR Core, Now we just are missing a True # 1, but we have all the Types. 2 Overall good Wr's(Bess & Hartline), 1 maybe 2 Speed Guys(Moore and Armstrong) and 1 tall WR that is the only real Question Mark of the group.

*The Tradition Continues*
Be apart of an award winning performance in Mediocrity
*This season is not yet rated*
PLEASE NOTE: Any Copyright or re-transmission of the use of anything related to the Miami Dolphins and the NFL will be met with circus clowns and possible deportation.

Sherman was fired from Texas A&M
Philbin is no more than a former practice coach in the NFL
While Philbin held the "title" of OC in GB for 5 yrs
Philbin was never even allowed to call one play on game day in his entire tenure with GB
So Philbin essentially has 0 experience as game day offensive coordinator and 0 experience as a HC
Keep It Real

25th ranked secondary
WRs
12 months of FA and the 2012 draft and all (3) areas
have extreme vulnerability

Polian is retired, we would have to hire his son. And that is not an upgrade.
Polian has been semi-retired for the last 4-5 years. He's not going to want to go to work.

Why Ed Bailey, are we cross?
Them guns don't scare me. Cause without them guns, you're nothin' but a SKINNY LUNGER!
Why Ed, what an ugly thing to say.
I abhor ugliness.
Does this mean we're not friends anymore?
You know, Ed, if I thought we weren't friends anymore, why, I just don't think I could *bear* it.

The Dolphins COULD win...
That would definitely be a statement to the rest of the league. It would shock the nation. It would finally get them some respect. They've done it before against teams that were supposed to be bound for the Super Bowl. It has happened when the other team takes Miami just a little too lightly. What happened to "Believe In Miami"? How is this team ever going to pull themselves up out of the cellar unless the fans start believing in them? Keep filling the stadium with negativity and all you're gonna get is a losing team. Remember the white handkerchiefs that used to wave at Dolphin games? How other teams hated playing the Fins because of the noise & the heat? Bring some of that back! Be a fan! Be fanatical! Support the team! Be a team player!
GO MIAMI!!!!!

Lets be optimistic about the season based on the schedule and how we did against the teams we have played over the last four years where we had no offense.
Houston played 3 times lost 3
Oakland Played 3 times won all 3
Jets won 4 of 8
Arizona Played once lost that one
Cincinnati Played the once and beat them
St. Louis Played them once and beat them
Indy Played once and lost
Tennesse Played them once and won
Buffallo won 6 of 8
Seattle Played once and won
N.E. Won 2 of last 8
San Fran Played them once and won
Jacksonville Played them once and won
Granted that some have new HC and have become a lot better but then again who is to say that we are not better. Lets judge the season after the season. Lets not write reviews on a movie without even watching it
There are 9 of the 13 teams we play against this year that we bave beaten the last four years.
Be a real fan or jump off the band wagon.

DCDolfan,
An owner has been forced to sell a team. By putting a bad product on the field, low sales and squadering money Frank McCourt (former owner of the L.A. Dodgers) filed for bankruptcy and was forced to sell the team.
