Several Dolphins among HOF nominees

The Pro Football Hall of Fame today announced a list of 127 nominees from which the class of 2013 will be selected and several of those nominees have Dolphins ties.

Former Dolphins wide receiver Mark Clayton is among the list, joining 11 other wide receivers on the list.

Former Dolphins cornerback Troy Vincent, who started his career in Miami before playing most of his years for the Philadelphia Eagles and other teams, is on the list.

Former Dolphins and Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson is on the coaches list, joining former Dolphins defensive coordinator Bill Arnsparger, the architect of the no-name defense, and kicking coach Doug Blevins.

Bill Parcells, who was the Dolphins football czar from 2008-2010 and helped build the team that won the AFC East title in 2008, is on the coaches list as well -- obviously for the work he did with the New York Giants, New York Jets, New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys.

The complete list of candidates for the Class of 2013 consists of 127 nominees. From that list the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee will choose 25 candidates who will advance as semifinalist nominees. The list of 25 semifinalist nominees will be announced in late November. That semifinalist list will be further reduced by a mail ballot to 15 modern-era finalists and announced in early January.

The Class of 2013 will be selected from the list of the 15 modern-era finalists plus the two senior nominees (former Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Oilers nose tackle Curley Culp and former Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins linebacker Dave Robinson) who were selected last month by the Hall of Fame’s Senior Selection Committee.

The actual voting for the Class of 2013 will be conducted at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee’s annual meeting, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 the day before Super Bowl XLVII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. The election results will be announced at a live announcement show immediately following the meeting.

While there is no set number for any class of enshrinees, the selection process by-laws provide that between four and seven new members will be selected.

Clayton, by the way, seems to be the most deserving of the Miami players. He made five Pro Bowls, he had an 18-TD season in 1984, he holds the team record with 82 career touchdowns, he holds the team record with 550 career receptions, he had 92 consecutive games with at least one catch, and he finished with 8,643 receiving yards with the Dolphins.

Despite those big numbers, the group of receivers is probably one that offers the stiffest competition. The list includes Tim Brown, Cris Carter, and Andre Reed.

What the F went on last night?

If there ever was a time for a new post, this would be it.

Mando, quit your cruising and do something. It's 10 am, about the same time you usually get up every day.

Mark, go root for the Argonauts

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1345099-which-2012-nfl-draft-picks-are-looking-like-early-franchise-cornerstones#/articles/1345099-which-2012-nfl-draft-picks-are-looking-like-early-franchise-cornerstones
---------------------------------------------

Tanne didn't make the list....

yeah so what happened at practice yesterday mando?

Why should he Kris, he's the worst rated starting QB in the NFL?

@Mark, the Argonauts are as good as the Dullfins. HAHA

Kris, you realize looking at bleacher report for an expert opinion is like asking me my advice on international economy. Your average Joe writes that stuff, it's a blog with no credentials. I could find an argument for that article but I'd be wasting my time.

LOL @ Clue....

I predicted before the 1st game of the season that we would see an infinite amout of post invoking the name's of...

TROY AIKMAN
PEYTON MANNING
and
DREW BREES

to name a few...

and lo and behold....@ least one of the said names have made an apperance on this blog almost daily....in defense of Tanne....

Do I have a crystal ball??? nope....

I just know that we use extremes in ALL situations to try and prove our point....

Clayton is about 8,000 yards short of the HOF. He got 50% there.

Vincent? Joke.

So some peoples opinion of Tannehill is that hes horrible and you want to start Matt Moore bc of the QBR? Do you look at anything else besides the QBR like how many dropped passes he has? Tied with Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, and theyre only second to Drew Brees. Is he a rookie that is making mistakes? yes does he improve week to week? yes. If he had someone catching his passes and i know not all are on point but he'd be alot better. Also, you want Matt Moore starting when he couldnt beat out a rookie in camp? His MO was that he didnt practice well but when the lights came on he performed and then in the preseason games he couldnt even compete with back ups on the other team? good call.. i wish you were the head coach.. Draft a WR next year in the first as the talent level should be high. Face it this year is a rebuilding year and we could easily be 2-1 right now.

MiamiD...there is NO ARGUMENT to be made....

Its an opinion piece....

LIKE THIS BLOG IS....

I respect your opinion....and I don't just dicount OTHERS opinions because YOU didn't write it....

Instead of attacking the source MiamiD....

why not make a case as to why Tanne IS FRANCHISE MATERIAL....

I could find an argument for that article but I'd be wasting my time.

Why would you want to find an argument?

Lots of excuses for Tannehill...

No excuses just facts Jay. He's a rookie making rookie mistakes and has alot of dropped passes. That is all. The organization set it self up for this with shotty personel desicions in the past etc. Its a rebuilding year that is all. There wasnt enough cap space to sign anyone with meaning.

It's his 3rd game you people are either jet fans or really stupid... It's still not too late to join us in reality. Good luck n godspeed

They should target w first 5 picks
J Hunter WR Tenn
TJ McDonald FS USC
Margus Hunt DE SMU
John Simon DE Ohio state
Tavon Austin WR WVU

Richmond Webb?

I'd love to see Mark Clayton get in. He seemed virtually unstoppable in his heyday alongside Duper and Marino. Seems like an infinity ago does it not? Back when the offense actually scored.

I would be so happy if mark gets in the hof someday. And samething for Super Duper.

Jimmy Johnson is NOT a Hall-of-Famer. If the Vikings don't give the Cowboys 12 players (6 current players and 6 draft picks), he doesn't win a thing. Look what happened when Barry Switzer came in. They still won. Look how bad Johnson was with the Dolphins. Big deal, they made the playoffs 3 times in his 4 years. Their average record was 9-7 over that time. Overrated.

Bob Kuechenberg was passed over by HOF three times despite having a better career and more PB appearances than several players who have been inducted.
The 'Honor' is meaningless... burn the place down.

What about Jake Scott and Bob Kuechenberg? They should be in along with Clayton. I also think Parcells is the most overrated coach in NFL history. Without LT, he never would have won anything.
