Dolphins beat Bengals 17-13

CINCINNATI -- The Dolphins had blown fourth-quarter leads in each of the past two weeks. Not this time!

Miami held on despite giving up a touchdown in the final stanza. The fact Cincinnati missed a 40-yard field goal and then Reshad Jones ended the Bengals final grasp at victory with an interception balanced this one in Miami's favor.

The Dolphins needed this one.

It is a lesson how to win on the road, or at least it can be used that way.

Ryan Tannehill did a good job keeping away from the turnover today. He completed 17 of 26 passes for 223 yards with neither a TD nor INT.

The Dolphins are 2-3 and go home next week against the Rams.

Odin,
Whoever is the 'number 1' receiver gets the most targets and therefore the most catches, yds and TDs.

The previous 3 years Marshall had the biggest contract and was the 'number 1' and so he got the most of everything. However if Hartline had gotten the most targets last season he would have finished first in every category.
Same for Bess. Same for Wallace. Same for Gates. Same for Welker. etc.

Tanny is the key to the turn around. The team believes in him . You could tell in that video going along to footloose how much the team likes the kid.He wants to get better. What impresses me most is his ability to audible at the line and set protections. Coyle did a great job with the defense but he was going against his former team and that knowledge obviously made a big difference and not a wash as philbin put it earlier in the week.

Tannehill has improved his overall QBR to 70.4 on the season!

He's overcome alot in just a little time. It seems he allowed us to skip right over making excuses for how long it's taking him to adjust to the speed of the pro game.

It's still early and I don't want to sound over confident, but Tannehill is starting to take care of business. He does alot of things ALREADY like a seasoned vet.

As a couple of people have pointed out, and I've noticed and agree fully, when a play breaks down and he starts to create on the run, he's been awesome.

He had the one sick looking, ROOKIE pick 6, but he's mkoved on. He's improved on scrambling out, knowing when(and how)to just throw it away. And most importantly, when these plays break down, he scrambles out, but he keeps the play alive and keeps HIS EYES DOWNFIELD!

The Kids making a believer out of me in short order-LOL!

Awesome Win. although I love this team under philbin, led by Tanny, and with playmakers like reggie, I am definitely not going to get too excited about the prospects for the rest of the season. The secondary is still too weak and it'd be nice to have someone else to throw to beside Bess & hartline. Anyway, GO DOLPHINS!!!

Odin,
Not 62 point something, try 92.8. Tannehill's qbr was 92.8 today baby!

Posted by: Yesterday's Gone | October 08, 2012 at 12:53 AM

62? What was thinking-LOL. I stand corrected. It was a typo, I was trying to do a thousand things all at once and asccomplishing nothing.

I'mm just mixing another drink, screw it-LOL!

Sammo,
I disagree a little bit, politely.

I think each unit of the team believes in itself, first of all: The O-line believes in the O-line. The DBs believe in the DBs etc. The RBs believe in the RBs. Th LBs believe in the LBs.
The WRs beleive in the WRs.

I'm sure they are all happy for Tanne and see this as a possible long-term winning situation.

I just thought of something funny:
Imagine the Phins go 9-7 and make it as a Wildcard.
They do like the Giants last year and end up winning the SB.
Tanne would immediately vault over Big-Dan-13 as the 2nd best Phins QB of all time.

Odin,
First of all let's stop putting down players no longer here. I can say over and over again how Big-Dan-13 jerked off the fans of this franchise for 18 years but that gets us nowhere.
Agreed?

Posted by: CadillacDeVille | October 08, 2012 at 01:07 AM

OK, but honestly, I didn't think I was putting him......tonight.

Check my posts, I was complimenting Ireland and by extension, Marshall, Smith, Carroll and Wilson.

I even complimented RJ Stanford earlier. The kid got a professional football field for the first time in his LIFE!

For his first and ONLY(so far)play in the big leagues, he stepped up and made the tackle for a minimal gain!

Thats what I'm talking about!

Please add this to the end of my last post:
Ha Ha Ha Ha

Odin,
For the first time in 5 years we are not screaming at each other.
We are not accusing each other of homosexuality.
We are not accusing each other of bonesmokery.
For the first time in 5 years we can relax and hold hands.

Trying to catch up:

However if Hartline had gotten the most targets last season he would have finished first in every category.
Same for Bess. Same for Wallace. Same for Gates. Same for Welker. etc.

I think this is a pretty valid statement.

Now having said that, I think one of the most intriquing statements I've heard Philbin make(and he's said it OVER and OVER again), is that this offense doesn't have a typical number 1 receiver.

Or more accurately, he keeps saying it's not **predicated** on having a true no 1.

At first I wasn't buying this. I wrote it off as some kind of rigimorale about lacking a no. 1 and having let Marshall go(and then Johnson).

But, after having witnessed Hartline excel in the offense, I'm starting to believe in this as well.

Bess is a different story. From what I knew of the WCO(very little)and Bess' skillset out of the slot, I suspect.....I even predicted he would have his best year ever. The thing is, like Philbin hinted around at, Bess is kicking A ss and it doesn't matter if he's lined up inside or out.

And Hartline is just further proof that htere is something to what Philbin has been preaching. Looking at the big picture, Hartline came out of nowhere! Especially after having NO CAMP? Are you kidding me?

Give me the name of one person that wasn't totally surprised by Hartlines production thus far? Granted he's improved, but that much?

Nope! I suspect it has more to do with these cryptic statements Philbin keeps making in regards to predictions, and applications and West Coast something er others.......

Caddy man, if everyone believes in themselves that strongly based on their own merits than how do you explain the losing records of the last three years or the blown leads in how many games? This team is playing with effort. They are trying to win. And whenever a player has been asked about the reason for this turn around of attitude they all answer the samething: we finally have a qb.

Tanne would immediately vault over Big-Dan-13 as the 2nd best Phins QB of all time.

Posted by: CadillacDeVille | October 08, 2012 at 01:33 AM

Wouldn't THAT be a nice argument to have.

Even after having won a Super Bowl, I don't know that Tanny could unseat the Great Marino.

I, as well as EVERYONE else would have to give him props, but come on. I was THERE! I REMEMBER!

We would start the 4th quarter down by 21 and **KNOW** we were still in the game! How many QB's can you say that about?

For me, even winning one Super Bowl(this year)Tanny would still have a ways to go to unseat the Great Dan Marino in my mind! The things that Gumpy Dude could do on a football.......MAN!

Now Tanny wins back to Back Super Bowls and he immeadiately passes Griese and closes the gap on Marino.

OK Caddilac, YOU got me(even thinking about this-LOL)! You got me! We could sit back and drink heavily having this conversation.

Anywhoo......a MAN has to have his DREAMS!

PS: I'm going to nake a toast too, and say a Prayer for: Mad Dog Mandich!

This WIN was for YOU! Next week, at the "Honor Roll Game", were going to win another one for YOU!

AwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwRiiiiiiiiiiiiight MIAMI!!!!

Sammo, The way I explain it is: They have grown into thier jobs and become experts.
They are very young, strong, skilled, prepped mf's.
It just so happens that they are young and VERY athletic!

Odin,

Yeah!

You think so?

I was starting to think if we put all the bullshyt aside(that started when you doubted me, my honesty and my musical career), I was thinking we could have a drink and some really good - **Old School** Miami Dolphins conversations(among other things).

Then I read that last line. Why would we Hold Hands?

Maybe if we smoked some Ganjah and I played the accoustic around my Fire Pit with some Hotties. You know, we all hold hands and sing a Hippie Version "We Are The World".

But somehow, I get the feeling thats not what you had in mind.
---------------------------------------------------

Gresham? AJ Green? The Red Hot and Haired Andy Dalton?

We put a Smack Down on them didn't we!

You better believe one thing Buddy! We're getting the next 5 and taking it to 7-3. Odin has Spoken!

Odin,
If a first or second year Phin is having an excellent year than how much of the time before he got here does he have to answer for? The answer should be: None. Why are we blaming a player that wasn't here for what happened here, if his name is Henne I understand why we need to blame him but for anyone else I don't see it.

Odin,
Ha Ha Ha Ha

You said we, '...put ther smack down on them ...'.

Ha Ha Ha Ha

Odin,
What I had in mind isw we lay next to each other and hold hands. Maybe move next to each other so that we feel warm from our bodies touching. From that close position if we both tried to find each other's weiners that would be aight.

Sammo,

On your QB comment......Kuddos! There has to be SOMETHING too that.

I think were obviously improving all over the roster. But like you said, the one thing that I think is making the biggest difference is the QB play.

We haven't seen anything like it since Marino, save for a brief Pennington appearence. And even then, you could tell, Pennington was just about toast.

But the parcells so called turn around(which only lasted as long as Pennington was healthy), that, in my opinion is evidence of the point you're now making with Tannehill.

Sure, were getting better all over. But the biggest difference, the main difference.........QB play.

Tanny imploded and the Texans put one on us.

Tanny played well, but faltered with a pick six. The wet bags stole one from us.

The Raiders? Tanny played well(Bush helped to of course, but that, in turn helped Tanny play well)and we blow them out!

The Cards? Tanny played well or were not even in that game. He played well and we should have one it.

Today? Tanny wasd almost perfect. He MANEGED the game like an old pro, WE WIN!

was starting to think if we put all the bullshyt aside(that started when you doubted me, my honesty and my musical career), I was thinking we could have a drink and some really good

Odin Stank, Guitar-Hero is not a musical career.
How about go out and get a JOB you worthless Hippie

But hey look at the bright side, in a few years you'll pass away and then they'll be a use for your carcas as a Cadavar at a university to show what alcohol does to your body.
Till then I guess you can collect your welfare/Foodstamps ETC.ETC.

Caddilac,

I don't even know why you started hating or acting jealous of me? Just because I played Bass Guitar in a Famous(at the time)band?

I don't think you even realize man(I'm drunk and letting my guard down, so I'll probably regret it).

Quick, tell me who was the Bass player for Nirvanna? How about Guns and Roses? No?

Name the bass pklayer for the Greatful Dead or even Ozzy?

I was a nobody that got lucky. I was a run away dunb a ss ROADIE, that got lucky enough to fill in when the real Bass Player killed himself by living the life I was AFTER.

All the partying and the Groupies were great. I can't lie about that. But believe me, it wasn't all it was built up to be.

I got lucky-PERIOD! When it was over, it was over! It was BAD. They Ripped me off as a "retirement" gift. They THOUGHT they did anyways. Then I got lucky there too. But I had to wait about 15 years.

I was ANYTHING BUT a Rock Star! I did get to jam with a few Stars and that was cool. But seriously, if you knew what I was talking about, you wouldn't be jealous in the least.

"Aging Muscisina" cna be Miami Dolphin Fans Too!!!!

Odin, I predicted Hartline and Bess to step up n have a 1000 yrd seasons People laughed and thought I was crazy. If u don't believe me I bet u can find it mid preseasons posts somewhere.

To a CERTAIN degree, the same argument could be made for Ireland. To a **CERTAIN DEGREE**.

Could it not?

I'll take your word.

I predicted as much on Bess. But Hartline was a complete surprise to me. And I don't mind admitting it either. A pleasant surprise. And something most might not be realizing just yet, how much Hartline is assisting in Tannehill's development!

Those two are going to best friends for life.

(I'll bet Liver Spots is wondering what a "Best Friend" is-lol........SERIOUSLY!)

What do you think about Carroll and Wilson after today? I think Carroll ma be better than Marshall on the outside. Marshall may be better at nickel.... Not sure yet but IMO so far I see more potential from Carroll starting.

Still think FS is the weakest link on both sides. Then RG.

Neil Young: PowderFinger

...shelter me from the powder and the finger.... cover me with the thought that pulls the trigger... just think of me as one that never figured...you fade away so young...so much left undone...mention me to my love I know I'll miss her...

Ha! Thats a little better. He only posted this one 400 times.

This tart is so fat, lazy and stoopid he just posts the same old thing over and over and over.

Thinking hurt him head and typing make him fat little fingers swell up.

I know you got picked up in that prostitution sweep. I know NOBODY paid your bail either.

Thank God they give worthless trash piles PR bonds huh?

This fat tard was ghoping they would give him 90 days so he'd have a place to sober up and sleep.

Sucking Corks for meth money is tough work for the fat, bald and stoopid. Big problem, he's getting so old and toothless he can only get 10 dollars a job! YIKES!

Go back to Cuba and suck Fidels cork, maybe he'll give you a handout too-ROTFLMAO!

Carroll and Wilson both played respectably today.

Carroll is scary, probably because of seeing him last year. But who knows.

Marshall was brought in originally to play the nickel.

Maybe Carroll has improved that much. Keep a safety over the top though. I would keep a safety with him at all times until he shows he can do it on a consistant basis.

It worked a bunch of times today!

Hw come liver spot never talk football?

it always odin dis odin dat

he so stupid why he no talk football?

he retardid?

True now if we can just get a FS that can make plays. Imagine if Clemons were playing at reshad jones' level....
The defense would be scary.
BTW jones and misi are turning out to be impact players on D

The real test will be the patriots offense IMO

Yes, Phuc Yu, he is retarded.

He is bitter because he's a let down artist.

He let down his GrandMa and GrandPa. Then his Mother and Father never forgave him and he let them down too.

Then he let down his wife, his kids, his first boyfriend(when he was "Curious"and then his next two boyfriends(after he decided he "Liked Curious"-LOL).

And now, he's such a Let Down artist he barely gets 10 dollars a job.

He's an Artist alright. A choke artist. He chokes for 10 dollar a shot, he claims it's a living. What Cha Gomma Do?

Nice convo's tonight, until.......the Choke Artist arrived!

Peace!!!!

I was nervous as hell after the previous two weeks but we finally won a close one and overall we deserved to win. The same could be said about those 2 overtime losses. However, we can win everyone game except the 3 games which look the most difficult to win will be the 2 Vs. Patriots and the trip to San Fran.
If we play well from here in who knows where we can be come end of season.

I think we have a bright future, Tannehill is going to be the real deal with more weapons he will be even better.

Go Fins!!!1

Make Fisher pay? We ought to thank him! Philben will prove to be a better choice!
