Miami Dolphins tied for AFC East lead

Are you ready for this? The Dolphins are tied for first place in the AFC East.

And it's mid-October!

With the Patriots losing to Seattle on Sunday, the Jets beating Indianapolis, and the Bills beating Arizona in overtime, those teams join Miami with a 3-3 record. All are tied atop the AFC East. So the first six weeks of the season has resolved nothing in the division.

It's irrelevant. What matters is that Miami finds itself mattering at this time of year. Still.

My opinion?

As I wrote in my column in The Miami Herald for Monday, the Dolphins have greatly improved since the season began. There are tangible signs that players and units are getting better. I also write the new coaching staff is also improving and there were signs of that Sunday.

Bottom line is the team is headed in the right direction so far.

I believe only one team is going to come out of the AFC East and make the playoffs this year. But at this stage, the Dolphins have as good a chance as any of the others.

I thought Tannehill did an audible. Not sure but I think he read that inside blitz and the corner was playing that slant route. Really great awareness to burn the rookie Jenkins. Either way very impressive. Great touch and perfect location taking the hit as well.

Dashi....

What's this "ALLEDGEDLY" crap that you posted last night....

You have been reading my stuff....and I read your's....I said 11-5 BEFORE the season started...and have STUCK with it during pre-season and even after 1-3..and being taunted MANY times by ALOCO and other trolls...don't give me this "ALLEGED" crap...step to the plate and give a man his due...much like DD did in an earlier post....

The ONLY thing in your post was your NOW 12-4 hopes....never read that before....but...whatever...

B33RCA53,

On the Tanne'thrill td pass to Moore, it was great to see a db bust a coverage not wearing a Fins uniform. LOL

Must have yogurt boat for Jamaica Plan 27.

Tanne has put the "thrill" back into the qb position in Miami!

2 watt--

Meet me at Arnold's Royal Castle in North Miami for a Swiss Delight!

I have skiied with Ernest Borgnine.

Egnew still has a chance! Heard Philbin say he's developing! Maybe a red shirt year? Get him bigger and stronger! Help his blocking! He was the 3rd best TE in the 2012 draft! He has the height! Just needs to bulk up! And it helps ur run blocking going against such a strong D! That's a Big D-Line the fins have! Even the LB's are Big Boys!

He can be that Impact/Dynamic TE next year!

Can Moore be our #3? Can Gaffney learn the plays enough that he can see the field in 2 weeks? Is Armstrong's spot safe? U know how Ireland is! The man is working like his job is on the line! He's just waiting for the call from Philbin to bring someone else in!

We all know Matthews is developing and will be a gem if not by the end of this year at least next year!

We went from 1 wr in preseason! To 2 at the beginning of the season! Yesterday we might've found our 3rd/4th WR. Hopefully, Gaffney learns the plays and gives us 4 real options at Wr!

That's probably what philbin's mindset is! Why have 1 Good Wr get a 100+ catches? When I can have 3-4 Guys catch over 50! That's harder to prepare for! Things u learn running a #1 offense!

The best part about yesterday was...and I need you FISHER-ites to listen good...

The best part was the Rams played like the FINS...and the FINS played like a team who game plans in this era of football...

what do I mean???

How many games have we OUT PLAYED a superior opponent ONLY to lose after total domination....

Steeler
Colts
Saints

Come to my mind just name a few in recent years...we DOMINATED those teams...only to lose because we coudn't make the big play....

Men...We MADE the big play when it counted Sunday...even after being DOMINATED for most of the game....we won the game....WE MADE BIG PLAY......

No more talking about being "more physical"....or "they know they were in a game"....NOPE....we are talking about a win....a WIN playing 2012 football....screens, slants...and draws...being SMARTER the oppisitions voaching staff....being BETTER @ the QB position....being OPERTUNISTIC on defence....

Let Fisher tell his guys that they "roughed us up"....

let him tell his men...."they know they were in a fight"....

we'll continue to talk about the WIN....

anyone watch the Texas Oklahoma game? Damien Williams looks like a beast for OU. Very impressed by that dude.

It was ugly, but a win is a win

Let Fisher continue to build tthe Rams in the 1990-2000 Titans model...

He looks @ Steven Jackson...and thinks Eddie George...

Philbin looks @ Tanne...and thinks Aaron Rodgers....

which team had more succes....

Kris that was sarcasm. My bad if u took it the wrong way didn't mean it like that.

U have been "Consistently" saying 11-5! Even when we were 1-3! (No Sarcasm)

Dashi put it in "" for the troll not U. I was actually given u credit! But could see where u might take it wrong. Dashi is going as high as 12-4! Pre-preSeason prediction based off strength of schedule. When u went even as high as 13-3! But we both came down from our homerism and gave real predictions! U Kris "said 11-5"! Dashi "said 9-7"! People laughed! The trolls trolled!! But Dashi has to say U might be right Kris!

This season has gone from a Evaluation season to a Developmental season!

If things go well we might be playoff caliber this year(11-5) and Superbowl bound (13-3) next year!

Still in the cellar. YAWN.

OU has a guy that was a FB and now is a RB that's nasty too. Trey Millard. Very intriguing. He hurdled a guy and broke a run for like 60 saturday also.

--------------------------------------

I saw the game but have decided that I will not comment on any aspect of it.

I trust that you will respect my decision. Thank you.

Dashi...

My bad....

i read it wrong (embarrasing)....

I'm fired up over the win over Fisher....I hated the idea of him comming to Miami...and feel EXTRA good that he left with his tail between his legs...

DOES JEFF FISHERS REALLY HAVE TAIL? BECAUSE I HAVE HEAR SOME PEOPLES REALLY HAVE TAILS LIKE THEY ARE DEVILS OR DOG AMINALS!!

Does anyone think the colts regret not taking RGIII?

hoo haw. is that place still open,?
i'm not dark enuff 2 go into that hood.
lol

Only 2 teams in the afc have better records! And the ravens are done! Hate to see greatness go down! But the ravens are in for a rude awakening the day ray walks away!

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MLB IS ATROCIOUSLY UNDERRATED TO A DEFENSE!!!(at least to fans)

Picture San Fran without P.Willis! They would be the Bills Defense! Ur MLB is the Heart of ur Defense!!! The Brains of the Operation! The QB of the Defense!!(They are the only player other than qb to have a headset in their helmet!!)

Why is Notre Dame #5 in the country?!

LSU and Alabama Might have a more talented Team Defense! ND has the best MLB! Nothing else! Yet they have the best D in college football!

Darryl--that was a lot of words to basically say nothing.

I think you guys just enjoy seeing your name posted.

Here's one for the trolls ...

Tannehill > Luck

If only this team would take a division game seriously we'd be in first place ALONE by beating the junk jets to begin with!!!

Heres one for the homers..

Henne > Tannehill

2 watt agreed!

Golden needs one more year to get more of his players in! And the fins should start reaping the rewards in 2-3 years when guys like duke and T.Howard are available!

Dashi is a Die Hard UM fan! But also wouldn't mind see the fins get players from FSU and UF. Even from the other Florida schools!

Never understood the philosophy of not drafting players from the area! Even as a Marketing strategy! If 2 players of equal value are up on the board? AND ONE OF THEM HAS SFLA TIES! Why not pick the Florida player over the other player if all things are equal? U already get a local following!

The heat have done this for years with scrubs! Makes the fans feel connected to the team! We have one of our own! The marlins should give this some thought!

Yes, we all like r.bush! But best believe the fan base would rather see L.Miller do better than any other RB on the team! Hidden reason most people could careless about D.Thomas! Even though he's a Florida kid!

Who here is old enough to remember me??

It's quite obvious, RGIII was the best player in the draft & the skins will be reawrded with a decade of excellence.

Man, some of you people have serious Stockholm Syndrome issues. Falling in love with those who held you captive and reaped misery on you every Sunday.

Henne? Anyone here clamoring for Cam Cameron, Cleo Lemon, or Ray Lucas??

Philbin is going to be on espn at 4

It's quite obvious, RGIII was the best player in the draft & the skins will be reawrded with a decade of excellence.

Truth,

That's right. The Redksins are 2-3 so let's just bypass the rest of the season & send RG3 directly to the HOF.

Mark my words--history will prove that the Rams ABSOLUTELY fleeced Washington in that trade. Who would ever give up three first round choices & a high second-round choice in 2012 to get ONE player??? Only the moronic franchises like Raiders, the Cowboys, or the Redskins.

RG3 will NOT be able to stay healthy & will be the next Michael Vick. Great athlete with lots of sizzle but lacks the physical size to take a pounding in the pocket.

BTW--If you love RG3 so much go root for the damn Redskins then.

If it was up to (genius) Dolphins fans, our starting quarterback right now would be Brady Quinn or Kyle Orton.

I am so glad you clueless nitwits can't get any closer to the team than your TV sets!

Is Craig M. having a day or mourning due to the Rams/Fisher loss...wth????

Philbin is going to be on espn at 4

B33,

Don't know if you watched last night's game but Al Michaels & Collinsworth were talking about how Aaron Rodgers told them that GB's offense missed Philbin for game day preparation & was still adjusting to losing him.

wow,some air x.

Does anyone think the colts regret not taking RGIII?

B33,

No way. RG3 may be this this year's top 'fantasy football' QB but Both Luck & Tannehill will have better pro careers than RG3. I've seen this movie before. Hype, hype, hype, & then more hype but no SB's.

If you can't take the big hits in the pocket you are not going to stay on the field. RG3 is not big enough to take the pounding of the NFL but both Luck & Tannehill are.

bob 3 is 1 hit away from staring out of windows.

Truth is a ravens fan, that lost all hope when ray went down!

What happened to Flacco? He's not the answer?

"Man, some of you people have serious Stockholm Syndrome issues. Falling in love with those who held you captive and reaped misery on you every Sunday.

Mark,

Don't forget John Beck...LOL!!!

"Truth is a ravens fan, that lost all hope when ray went down!

Dashi,

They lost their best CB too. Ladarius Webb tore his ACL.

Anybody gonna type that...

WILSON in Seattle is about to be benched (Craig M./MiamiD20).....lol....

Thank GOD for that feisty dude....

THE AFC EAST is WIDE OPEN...

RGIII is explosive. I had some doubts about his arm but I'm a believer. They need to improve their OLine but what he can do running is just deadly.

I MISS OUR EX PIZZA MAN COACH 'S RANT AFTER A WIN .........

Tannehill is fast too. I'm just waiting til he breaks one. He is very capable of doing similar things as RGIII.

KRIS IS POSTING LIKE WE WON THE SUPER BOWL ALREADY ..........

11-5 ................

Heres one for the homers..

Henne > Tannehill

Posted by: TK42 | October 15, 2012 at 11:46 AM

LOL, that was just to get a rise out of you Mark. Everyone knows that's false on it's face (Henne can't even start on the worst team in football). Let them believe all they want. Who cares?

Tannehill = Tied for 1st place in the AFC East.

That's all that matters!

Aloco...

would you rather be 0-6...like last year....

On second thought Aloco...I am quite sure YOU would rather we be 0-6....

Sooooo....

No need to answer that...

I too have no doubts about RG3. he will be great. But my doubts teeter on whether Washington will be able to draft enough support for him after that trade. Washington was drafting well too with their limited resources over the last five years. We shall see.

However, at this point I feel great about our position. Doing some financial forecasting right now on whether I will be able to become a season ticket holder for 2013 ....

B33,

Vick's running did not translate into championships & either will RG3's running. History has proven that if you want to be a SB winning QB you MUST be able to be effective in the pocket & absorb the big hits. RG3 does not have the body type to do that.

His arm is not the problem. The kid has a gun. It's the style of offense that Shanhan is running that will be him injured. He can't be John Elway b/c he doesn't possess John Elway's size

ya'll c bush flip 4 the 1st.
gamer.
the refs f'n blow, they hosed da phinz yday...

They're 2-3 & Griffin has played extremely well. What does that tell you??? It tells me that the Redskins were more than a QB away from being a good team. And then to not have a first round pick in 2013 & 2014??? It sounds like a recipe for disaster.

WHRBs...
there 3-3....

RG3's SPEED opens up the entire field for this guy on EVERY SNAP....

The LBs have to freeze....and that allows the route runners to get deep into their pattern's....

His running threat...has made is reciever's wide OPEN down feild....farely does he have to squeeze a tight window....

So even tho RG3 may be reluctant to use his feet....the threat of his feet alone....help his accuracy and completion percentage....

KRIS.......

I MISS OUR EX PIZZA MAN COACH AND HIS USE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE...YES,I RATHER BE 0-6 TO HEAR HIM SPEAKS .............

11-5

TANNEHILL'S RATING.............. 62 ................

P.MANNING............................. 80.....................

I'm glad we have the Jets coming out of the bye. Hopefully that means less chance for them coming out flat. We have to get Reggie and Hartline back on track.

Um......... #WINNING?

CHAD HENNE WILL START NEXT WEEK ........

This was a game that would have been lost a few weeks ago. The main difference is T's patience in the pocket, and not throwing it away. And like the Coach said, he is progressing faster than expected. He played a good controlled game with a flare of talent. 112 QB rating says it all.

Defensive secondary has improved immensely. Sean Smith is having a break-out season.

I can't help but think that while it is the players who are making the plays, the real credit goes to coaching. This staff is calling it right on the spot, and it is evident by the team's overall focus and discipline play.

I think the Rams were a more talented team, but were sloppy. We took them because we were more careful with the ball, and executed when we had to.

Coach Philben's first year as head coach will be 10-6 or better.
