Dolphins whip Jets 30-9 and make a statement

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- What a woodshed whipping this was.

The Dolphins, overtime losers to the Jets in the first meeting at Sun Life, flipped the script today by basically dominating the home team 30-9 and capturing second place in the AFC East.

So what does this mean beyond the standings?

It gives you a tangible measure of how much Miami is improving. Understand that on Sept. 23, the Jets could argue they were better than Miami. They went to Miami and, like it or not, came away with a win.

Now, a month later, the Dolphins have grown to the point that New York was blown out by halftime in their own house. And Miami did it with their backup QB, Matt Moore, who played three quarters for the injured Ryan Tannehill.

[Update: Tannehill said after the game he has a hyper-extended left knee and a deep left thigh bruise. He is scheduled for an MRI Monday.]

That says a lot, folks.

Tons.

I thought we played 2 very grueling back to back Overime games of our own before going to the then 3-1 Bengals getting our first of this 3 game streak. Your excuse is baseless TKO.

Fin4Life......

I read/heard on NFLN..that Colts are ranked 8th against the pass....27th against the run.....

I believe that Philbin develops game plane to beat them with the pass and the run....but the stats say their pass D is pretty tough.....maybe Bush and the Line get healthy for this game...

Ive asked some others but no one seems to have an answer so maybe someone here will know. Anyone know how Adam Shefter just reported that there "is no structural damage to Tannehills leg, he sustained a deep bone bruise to both knee and thigh and the coaches aren't sure if he will be able to play this Sunday" when the papers reporters keep telling us they don't release injury info to reporters until Wednesdays injury report comes out.

How did Shefter find out?

Mando can't help you, bud. He's in even worse shape than you are. There is no $ anymore at TMH and only charitable Souls are sustaining the Paper. This Country has been bankrupt for more than 4 yrs now and only a Great War with our Lenders(the Europeans) can bring us out of our misery.

Your excuse is baseless TKO.

That really is a head scratcher of a stat given I watch the 2 hour highlight show on NFLN. every Sunday at Midnight which is probably the one with the best coverage every week and the Colts were getting lit up on alot of those games even giving up an 80 yarder to Gabbert right down the middle of their D. They have played very inspired Football for their H.C. but outside of that am very surprised by the stat.

Oscar thinks the Euopeans are aour lenders....LOL.....

I thought you were suppose to be SOOOO educated....

POOF....

another facade exposed...and dis-proven.....

but keep showing us how much you DON'T KNOW.....

Fin4Life.....

Check out passing yards per game on the link below.....they are actually ranked 7 th in the NFL....i'm surprised as well....every time i see a highlight against them its a pass play....

Err, the Europeans have always been in charge of the U.S. Federal Reserve, our biggest Lender. Look it up, Kris.

Now, don't bother me anymore. I will Rest.

Lets come down to earth. The Jets were worn out after a grueling OT game against NE, and we had a bye. That was the difference, we had fresh legs, they didn't.

Maybe so but it wasn't your original point and sorry but it sounds like an excuse. By your logic we should have been killed in Cin. So now the point is we have beaten nobody??? Well the Jets gave Houston and N.E. all they could handle fanned the flames all week about how they were the better more physical team and proceeded to get the hammer dropped on them at home. There is the truth you should not fear.

I love what the Dolphins are doing and I agree that the furture looks bright. Once Tannehill develops and with Ireland's eye for talent we are sure to be contendenders for years to come.

However, I can't help but wonder what could have been if the Dolphins had signed Peyton Manning. With our defense, solid running game, and Philbin running the show we may have won it all this year. We are much better than Peyton or anyone thought.

Why is it before troll goes on a rampage!

He has to check if Dashi or Odin are "not" here?!

What are u afraid of little man?!

And u would expect for a 80+ year old meth zombie! With an allegedly high IQ! (Again that just means u study the test, and took it multiple times!)

That he would know a little politics! Like Dashi said yesterday! The Polls are Open! Screw talking the time for action is now! Ur not going to change any real people's mind! Unless ur the one undecided! But u should know before the first debate who u are voting for!

And agreed with everyone! This is a Disservice! When Dashi meant keep everything up for the world to see! Dashi didn't mean don't post another article! Don't know how the inner workings at the herald are right now! But this is silly! We have to sit here and listen to troll babel all day!

Like Dashi said, Barry Jackson is the man! The rest are just Leecher's!

You have a burr in your side or something. I offered no logic or opinion. We won 4 games this season. All of those teams have losing records at mid season. It was just an observation.

I believe Kris meant our gross Int. debt and it isn't in Europe. The Europeans did however buy up alot of U.S. Nat'l debt (Bank real estate bad debt) which nearly took them down the cosmic bunny hole with us 06-08.

Name calling is so 3rd grade.

The only one to mention how great we look was M.Irvin to the rest it was all about the team that went to 2 straight AFC Champ.

Posted by: fin4life | October 29, 2012 at 04:46 PM

I share the frustration and for whatever reasons, this anti-Miami Bias is very REAL and Obvious.

However, in all fairness, I have to point out Marriucci's vote of confidence along with Michael Irvin's. Marriucci pointed out that we have been playing very well and that if the season ended today, we would be the 5th seed in the AFC!

It use to piss me off pretty good. But now I'm starting to really enjoy spanking the favored teams!

PS: I had troubles trying to find critiques/areas for improvement last night. The ONLY negatives I found were SO MINIMAL, they were not even worth mentioning. Not after the Great Showing we had yesterday ;)

Europe holds a opaltry 495 BILLION in US debt.....sounds like a lot....but they actually come in 8th on the list....with the top 4 all holding over 1 TRILLION in US DEBT.....

just to put it into perspective.....

Well said and I thoroughly agree.
----------------------------------------------

WELL I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU PEOPLE.IT'S NOT THAT THE JETS STINK, MIAMI IS JUST IMPROOVING THAT MUCH & AREN'T GETTING THE CREDIT FOR IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

The jets have played some good to great teams VERY tough this year. Sure they have some injury concerns. But on the other side of THAT coin, we didn't just beat them either.

We WHIPPED that A ss!!!!

Perfect! That describes exactly what everyone thinks of you, even your monkey boy Kris...he just doesn't have the heart to say so :)

That was an UGLY, WOBBLY throw from Smith and Peterson had EXCELLENT coverage.

Crabtree just wanted it more!

Good Stuff! That simple little TD right there is why I'm such a BIG Football Homer!

(Funny, after yesterdays win, EVERYTHING seems Greener, Blue-er, white-er and Brighter-LOL!)

Oscar/TKO/Yogurt....

i'll speak for myself if that's OK with you...dumb @ss.....

Odin, notice how Kris didn't refute it. Do you remember how he refused to comment on whether he'd want his own daughter to date an Odin?

So, even the one friend you think you have here doesn't exactly hold you in high esteem.

Just sayin.

Mando must be hunkered down somewhere waiting out the storm.

However, in all fairness, I have to point out Marriucci's vote of confidence along with Michael Irvin's. Marriucci pointed out that we have been playing very well and that if the season ended today, we would be the 5th seed in the AFC!

odinseye | October 29, 2012 at 08:55 PM

Good point, Mooch did say that and also said this was a team that others didn't want to see down the stretch but if you remember after the highlights were they post their next topics to the left of the screen it was about the changes needed in N.Y. with Sanders saying they were who we thought they were.

I wonder what gives given Sanders is from Fort Myers about 100 miles down Tamiami trail and always dogs the Fins. Berman over on ESPN is the worst with life partner Jackson and if you watch Inside the NFL now on Showtime we barely get any play.

The week we beat the Rams we were next to last on the highlights were they showed 1 play, I kid you not and this last week they all picked N.Y. except for guest host J.Shockey whose still telling anybody that will listen that he wasn't the whistle blower in New Orleans were his hands were shaking when refuting what Sapp outed him for, seems there is little love from X-UM teammates who believe Sapp and a League black balling back lash.

Maybe some of you expect too much press for a team with no playoff wins in decades. It's a show me league. Win something, and you win press and fans.

Some of you obviously have no clue how the media works. These announcers are in show business. Their job is to promote the NFL and their show. There job is to promote excitement. The fluke season with no Brady and the Wildcat was not enough to erase a decade of trash football. If they can keep the roll going, they will gain more press.

Darryl D,

You know I like your posts and perspective. Not much going on right now, so I'm going to respond to some of your points(Very Good points that I mostly agree with, I might add-lol).
------------------------------------------------------

...I have to say that yesterdays team was as well prepared a Dolphin team as we have seen since the 2008 wildcat game v NE. The big reason I would mark this game as better then that game are for these reasons.
We did it without a gimickie gameplan. No wierd offense, no suprise scheme. We did it with the best special teams display this team may have ever had since the start of keeping stats in this category..Think about it. A blocked punt, a blocked kick, a recovered onside attempt. Solid kicking, and some very good returns when the chances presented themselves. Quite a turnaround for this unit.
---------------------

-I don't know how long they've kept stats and even if I think you could be stretching it a bit, I have to agree. The main thing in my opinion was **The Level of Preparedness**.

-This particular point is all on the Coaching Staff. Granted we had the off week and extra time to prepare. But it SHOWED big time. Philbin and Co. had these guys prepared for all contingencies moreso than I've seen in YEARS and YEARS of being a Fan!
-----------------------------------------------------

The backup qb came in and ran the offense well. A testemant to his professionalism, and perhaps a reason he is so respected by his teamates. He may not be the most talented guy, he has his flaws. But kudos to Moore for his performance yesterday.
-----------------

-This is like what I've been saying about Moore all off season. Especially when all the other QB considerations were being made. I kept saying: WORST CASE SCENARIO, we have Matt Moore. WORST CASE SCENARIO we have Matt Moore as one of the better Back Ups in this league. I was convinced after seeing him come off the bench last year, I was convinced all off season and I'm even MORE convinced TODAY-lol!

I doubt it happens, but personally, if I were in Ireland's shoes I would be trying to extend Moore's contract. He's proven he can be a team player, he's proven he can learn ANY offense(I think 5 in the past 6 years). Most of all, he's proven he can play at a high level and WIN!

-We should extend Moore(if possible)and continue to develop Devlin while were at it. Devlin I think is already better than alot of back ups right now. I think he'll soon be better than Moore and readt to challenge Tannehill if you want to know the truth. He's a Gamer and he knows how to win.

Ultimately, we extend Moore and we are in the best situation at QB in years!
--------------------------------------------------

Also. Jimmy Wilson played his best game as a Phin. He has always been a better player when he was allowed to be aggresive, and when he gets moved around to be in position to be attack minded intsead of having to be reactionary. I wonder if he will be allowed more freedom in the defense in the future..
-------------------------

I agree fully with you on Wilson. We've discussed him before. Remember how I kept posting that I thought he was too small for an NFL safety and that I thought he would excel as a nickle? Well, I believe it even moreso now.

I keep doubting Carroll and he keeps proving me wrong. But I'm going to doubt him one more time in saying that I think Wilson will soon be the better of the two at CORNERBACK! Either way, they've both made me very happy to eat my words-lol!
------------------------------------------------------

Finally. The coaches get a nod here as well. Philbin, and his staff are coming into their own. It makes me wonder a bit about the Peyton Manning sweepstakes this offseason. Manning is all time great. But I wonder if Philbin had more say in this then we realize. What I mean is that I'm starting to realize that the system here is more important then one player. That in the best case scenario, we can fill in roles without missing a beat because of the way the program is taught. With Manning it would have been his system, no ifs ands or buts. And perhaps it was in the clubs best interest to pass, even if it meant short term success. There is only one Peyton Manning. what happens when he goes down, or is done? Then what? We will see if this is the type of team that can eventually plug guys in and have success. I'm starting to believe this may be the case in the future.

Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | October 29, 2012 at 07:30 PM
----------------------------------------------------

-I agree fully on this last point as well. I think you're on the money here too. It's the SYSTEM. The plug and play ability. I think the biggest evidence of this is the way Philbin kept say that this offense isn't predicated on a true, prototypical No. 1 WR.

It's the system with it's various **MULTIPLE** weapons. It's designed to exploit your weaknesses, exploit the mismatches and to take FULL advantage of what the defense is giving up.

I like the comparisons to Walsh and I think thats exactly the type of offense Philbin has been installing! We've just begun to scratch the surface too. This WHOLE THING is going to continue getting better and APPARENTLY pretty quickly as well ;)
-------------------------------------------------

So......in conclusion.........to make a Long Story Short.........Blah, blah, blah...........lol....

ValHalla!!!!

Odin that post wasn't long enough to hide what came before it :)

TKO,

With all due respect, your post earlier is ridiculous.

As far as who we've beaten this year, we can only play whose on the schedule. For the record, in all reality, **ONLY THE TEXANS HAVE BEATEN US**. And even then, it can be argued that we beat ourself(obviously with Tannehill's rookie meltdown. The one that HASN'T been repeated).

We should be 6-1(we beat ourselves against the wets and cards) and very possibly 7-0 if you want to get right down to it. It's at least arguable. So for future reference, save the ridiculousness.

We opened 0-7 last year and fired the entire coaching staff. We installed an entirely new TEAM(offense/defense/players/starters).

We have a Rookie Head Coach, all new coordinators and rookies starting and contributing at and in all facets of the game.

I really don't see how anyone can find any fault with all things considered. If the season ends today we make the playoffs as the 5th seed-Hello. The only problems I can detect, is a POSSIBLE problem with your judgement and objectivity.

Sorry if I'm coming off harsh here, but it it is **HONESTLY** how I feel.

Bottom's Up!!!!

I made no excuse, just stated the facts. None of the teams we beat having winning records today. Don't fear the truth.

Posted by: TKO | October 29, 2012 at 08:26 PM

ROTFLMAO - Don't fear the truth? The trurh is, you were WRONG! We beat the Bengals when they had a winning record.

Again, your ridiculousness is hilarious! The crap you're tryihng to pull here is Tantamount to saying: We beat the Redskins in the 72 Super Bowl, but that doesn't REALLY count because they have a losing record today-Bhwaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaa!

HELLO! One of the reasons the Bengals have ANOTHER loss on their record is because WE BEAT THEM - HELLO.

ROTFLMAO!

anyone else notice the dashi and odin are never here at the same time and always show up at the same time?

Shoulda, coulda, woulda doesn't count. You are what your record says. If you want to say the team is exceeding expectations, ok. I'm glad to see the fins are showing us something. I just tried to put things in perspective. I only made an observation of fact. It seems to have ruffled some feathers. Whatever.

both have the same writing style and post an endless amount of worthless words that amount to nothing. both typically attempt to talk football but end up name calling their opponent by the end of the night because everyone hates them and bashes them for how stupid they really are

I made no excuse, just stated the facts. None of the teams we beat having winning records today. Don't fear the truth.
Posted by: TKO | October 29, 2012 at 08:26 PM
--------------------------------------------------

Come ON! You're reaching, thats not what you said.

You said we didn't beat anybody with a winning record. It's on the last page, don't make me copy/paste please.

The Bengals HAD a winning Record........UNTIL we Beat Them.

Nonetheless.........my post at 10:06 makes it a moot point.

However, don't be discouraged, you get "The Odinsider's":

**C'Mon Man** of the Day Award!!!!

anyone notice yesterdays gone hasnt been here in awhile, which name has he been using this whole time he never misses a blog and his average of 10 posts an hour, per name, is dipping....unless hes here under someone else too embarrassed to admit how stupid he sounded. typical bandwagon front-running freeloader flip-flop fan

At midseason, all the teams we beat have losing records. Twist it, distort it anyway that can make you happier.

I'm not one for fantasy land.

Most of you would be happy with a wildcard berth, or a playoff win. Not me. You win the show or you don't. Second place is a nano meter from last place in my book.

Fin 4,

Berman just said basically the same thing you did in regards to Tannehill.

Except he said his status for the Colts Game is uncertain.

Thats a No Brainer though in my opinion. What else can/could anyone say at this point?

All in all, it SOUNDS like a Very Good Prognosis!

Oscar thinks the Euopeans are aour lenders....LOL.....

I was going to give him a free pass on that one, so I'm glad you razzed him-lol.

The Europeons? ROTFLMAO!

And he calls himself Blotted Liver? It's more like Blotted Brain Cells - LOL!

anyone notice TKO has god awful logic and when hes proven wrong he twists it and backs away. miami had two ot games in a row and won the next 3, jets had 1 ot game and thats why they lost cause they were beat and we had a bye. what will he think of next

I offered no logic and no opinion. Just a fact, perspective. Odd some of you find that so difficult.

It's the system with it's various **MULTIPLE** weapons. It's designed to exploit your weaknesses, exploit the mismatches and to take FULL advantage of what the defense is giving up.

odinseye | October 29, 2012 at 09:45 PM

odin,

While still early you can see certain parallels between the way Philbin operates and the way B.Walsh did once.

Walsh was the ultimate perfectionist who believed in out scheming the competition. The 49ers of the early 80's were not the talented group the late 80's version were but they played really efficient machine like Football with little mistakes.

That 1980 group that won the 1st title running threw the NFL 13-3 had Dwight Clark & Freddie Solomon (we traded him there) at WR. If you remember they had this LB named Cooper (#49) who they shift to T.E./H-Back and an old Wendell Tyler to take the place of the older OJ Simpson and just played mistake free Football. In honesty the Bengals team they beat in that S.B. was a better team as were the Cowboys who were better by a mile and Walsh just carves them up in route to that title.

The 2nd title after Marino's record breaking run it was Walsh who schooled Sula in that S.B. with the 7 DB set when Shula went NO-HUDDLE and Walsh counters leaving them on the field. The number he did on our D gets lost as well with those quick traps between the Guards with R.Craig or Montana scrambling around RT were Bokamper and Brunzinski had no answer.

That team was a well oiled mistake free machine and was ready to play every week like when they ripped off 18 straight on the road. They were considered finess in the Bears, Giants 80's but to me they were anything but and it all started with superior preparation. I believe this is the way with our Coaching staff now led by Philbin whose attention to detail seems familiar to another old ball Coach who got his shot late.

Walsh was the ultimate perfectionist who believed in out scheming the competition.

Posted by: fin4life | October 29, 2012 at 10:37 PM

You guys are so silly. Tell me what coach doesn't believe in out-scheming the competition. LOL.

Gimme a break.

I offered no logic and no opinion. Just a fact, perspective. Odd some of you find that so difficult.

TKO | October 29, 2012 at 10:35 PM

You offered an opinion about the state of the Jets and how we caught them on an off day. I rebuffed it with an opinion of my own and you haven't stopped arguing your opinions and perspectives since. By the way we get little press because we haven't been relevant in a while, I'll give you that but then again the Herm Edwards and Mangini Jets were every bit as bad but got the press regardless as did the circa 2004 Giants with the then irrelevant Eli. This happens in large part because the NFL and it's mouth pieces wax poetic on the teams in the North East especially the Tri-State because of the #1 market status (more TV money) with no team in L.A.

I love how jet fans come to this blog and try to convince us that the Dolphins suck or it's just a fluke... BUT IN NO WAY CAN THEY PROVE THAT THE JETS ARE ANY GOOD AT ALL!! LOL... dont worry jet fans, you can now start talking about the draft, and which worthless QB the Jets will draft ..LOL.while next draft is loaded with WR's and DB's and LB's our area of need ..Good luck drafting a QB in a weak QB draft ..LOL BYE BYE ..((( blowin' kisses)))

TKO, you have to realize that Finfans are thrilled to be a .500 team. Many of them have very low standards.

Just realized My last comment , and realize that the Jets are weak in all positions ... But you know they have to draft QB first which is their biggest area of need. Looks like Rex is on the hot seat. Trading up to get Sancheese was a big mistake. only with most of the jets draft choices

It would seem that the school you were EDUCATED @ "jay" (OK).....had the low standards....

last I checked 4-3 did not = (that's ann equal sign) .500....

looks like Jay is pretty happy that his team is 3-5 ..soon to be 3-6 :)

You guys are so silly. Tell me what coach doesn't believe in out-scheming the competition. LOL.

Gimme a break.

TKO | October 29, 2012 at 10:44 PM

Some Coaches who won Super Bowls (Ditka, Parcells) believed in beating you by giving you the beating of a lifetime on the field, they wre unweilding in this line of thought and were not big on the other school of thought regarding it more a cerebral match. There are others who try to get you with scheme putting your weaknesses on display just like Walsh did to a great tactician himself in Shula in S.B.-19. We went onside before the half of that S.B. sending into the break 24-16 S.F. and Sula had no answer for Walsh in the 2nd half.

New York towers over Miami on all things. Of course they will get more press. Giants have been winning SB's over the top coach/qb duo of the generation. Jets, by luck, got to two AFC championships recently. All that is about 100 times more than what the fins have done in a very, very long time.

Respect is earned. We haven't earned it. Maybe we will.

"Yogurt Guzzler",

Your own response just proved that you're the Troll that doesn't have the courage of your convictions. In other words, you're simply a coward and I detest cowardice in all of it's forms.

Having said that, I'll try and spell it out for you one last time. Please dig deep and try to come up with a teensy tiny bity of intelligence so I'm not ALWAYS wasting my breath with you(snicker......but it's true ;)

--------------------------------------------------
Odin, notice how Kris didn't refute it. Do you remember how he refused to comment on whether he'd want his own daughter to date an Odin?
--------------

-Ah.....he DID refute it by saying he "Speaks For Himself". Again, you ignorance and lack of comprehension skills are no excuse. Seeing how your obviously too dumb to understand and carry on conversations CORRECTLY, maybe......JUST MAYBE.......you should find a new "Hobby-lol".
-------------------------------------------------

So, even the one friend you think you have here doesn't exactly hold you in high esteem.
Just sayin.

Posted by: Yogurt | October 29, 2012 at 09:15 PM
-------------------

-This is where your ignorance and your TRUE thoughts really shines through. Just how many real friends have you ever made on-line?

Let me rephrase that. I don't mean, how many Boyfriends have you found Trolling across the Internet.

I mean, this place is not my life(unlike your poor soul). I don't come on line to an anonymous blog Trolling for "Real (boy)Friends" like you apparently do.

You see, when you're too ignorant to realize, you really say alot more about yourself and your inner thoughts each and everytime you post these absurdities.

Get A Clue You Poor Little Coward-lol.
------------------------------------------------------

Nothing against Kris, I like his posts and even the rough edge to his wit, humor and sarcasm. Now pay SPECIAL ATTENTION, I will type real slow for you(Duh-lol). Kris is just an anonymous sign in name on a sports blog too me. He's NOT world, nor is this blog-ROTFLMAO!

He's a guy whose opinions and observations I have alot of respect for. Thats pretty much it, but THAT it why I like to exchange posts with him.
------------------------------------------------

On a serious note, your posts belie the truth. It creeps out more and more with each and every ignorant post you make. It's quite obvious, this blog, it's power and it's prestige(Bhwaaaaaa Haaaaaaa Haaaaaaaa)is not only your world, but it's what makes your ignorant, cowardice WORLD Spin Round!

And THAT ain't no Joke Home Skillet ;)

ROTFLMFAO - Whoop-WHOOOOOOOOP!!!!

I mean when you havent won a playoff game in 15 years and you have 3 consecutive losing seasons, .500 sounds great.

Jet fans , just like the players on their team are all full of all types of excuses... thats why they suck , and are at the bottom of the division. If they would just realize how bad they really are and quit making excuses maybe they could correct it .... but they never will...LOL

Well Jay you can keep looking back , cause thats all the Jets are gonna be doing. 500 will be a dream come true for Jets fans for years to come

Not a Jets fan Jeffrow Dumbo..
