« Miami Dolphins needing cornerback help | Main | Every throw Ryan Tannehill made against Arizona »

Welcome to South Florida Jabar Gaffney

Jabar Gaffney stayed in New England the past few weeks even after the Patriots cut him and he was without a team. Fact is, Gaffney hoped he'd be back with the Pats and as you'll see below, he saw other teams like the Dolphins as the "enemy."

But he's with Miami now.

And that means learning on the fly.

Gaffney and quarterback Ryan Tannehill worked on hand signals today, something that is important just prior to a road game (Miami plays at Cincinnati Sunday).

The portions of practice I saw didn't suggest to me the Dolphins are leaning heavily on Gaffney in the game plan. That obviously can change in the next couple of days.

Anyway, I present to you No. 10 of the Miami Dolphins -- Jabar Gaffney:

Wow, IRELAND IS IMPROVING HIS DECISION MAKING...it only took 4 WEEKS for his BRAIN CELLS TO FIRE UP this time.
Draft a QB but don't give him any receivers, what a freakin genius

#19 Ginn, Marshall, Naanee

YG, that's always been his number. Even in college.

Obama and the Fins! A winning combination!

vaustn,

Gaffney hasnt even been able to play up until now. Then add in the factor he was waiting for a call from the Pats that never materialized.

Gaffney really had ZERO plans of becoming a Dolphin. Im sure the performance Sunday, added in with the Pats never called, may have been the deciding factor in Gaffney agreeing to become a Dolphin.

He now see the potential in both our young qb, plus Hartline and Bess.

B33RCA53,

Phew! I was getting a little scared there. As long as Gaffney isnt switching to #10, we maybe fairly safe.

Marshall switched to #19, so did Naanee, I think.

No one else wanted Gaffney oe he would've gone ANYWHERE else. YG, get a clue.

Gaffney was behind OchoCinco on the Pats depth chart.

We got a very solid wr(Gaffney) for the vet minimum and ZERO draft picks. What a wr coup only four games into the season. Gotta give Ireland kudos on this deal.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWRIGHGT!!!

I hit a nerve with Troll Bu-oy today and knocked him **The Fvck** of his Bizzaro Rocker! ROTFLMAO!

You can tell I totally Dogged Him Out by the way he made 59 posts straight about.......**Yours Truly**.

Bhwaaaaaa Haaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaa!!!!

He posted more about me than the Dolphins or Gaffney-lol!

Oh wait, that Troll Bait Punk ALWAYS does that. If he ever posted about Football, I personally would be **AMAZED**!

YEP! Monkey Bu-oy got his A ss handed to him in **Royal Fashion** today-ROTFLMFAO!

Clue,

If we didnt need a 3rd wr so badly, we wouldnt have gone after Gaffney neither. Guess you loved the way Naanee coughs the ball up without being hit.

Guess you love the stat dept Naanee leads in called self-forced fumbles.

If ya cant make the Pats roster ya can always be a starter for the lowly Fins! LOL

douche - I have you beat - I have a Cleo Lemon jersey. Cleo was the man!

I don't care truth, honestly. I rarely post & this dolt is throwing my name under the bus accusing me of being a troll.
He grasps at straws because he's clueless about the identity of the ppl that despise him.
The minute it took me to type that is more than enough wasted on trash like him.
Done for today.

If there really IS someone Hi-jacking your name, then how do you know it wasn't DC Dullfin?

If it wasn't you and it was an impostor, you couldn't possibly know who it was. So......(AHEM)......the question begs........WHY ON EARTH WOULD **YOU** BE DEFENDING **HIM**?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........me thinks another dumbass just BUSTED HIMSELF..........AGAIN-LOL!

Now just STFU with the dumb stuff Dufus, you're out of your league........For Real!

Buh Bye Now ;)

odinseye - 1, troll boy - 0

I thought we should have kicked the tires on Plaxico Burress. He is 6'5" and he could have helped in the redzone. Gaffney has some expieriance but adding another Redzone threat would have been nice.

YG, I guess you love castoffs. This team is full of em cause they're better then Irescum's draft picks.

YG,

Everyone on this blog finds fault with everything. Naanee was a mistake and Ireland was waiting on Gaffney to be healthy.

Now he is a Dolphin. Good for us!

The Glass half empty gang!

John - I agree. I don't know much about Gaffney but Plax at least deserves a look. He'd be a nice outlet for Tannehill since our TEs suk.

imposter at 5:52

If the Jets won't bring Plax back after Holmes went down for the year speaks volumes to me.

The Jets will sign anyone!!

Forget him!

Gaffney was also one of Brady's favorite targets. I doubt if he was healthy they would have let him go. and the Pats are deep at WR

I thought Fasano had a pretty decent game last week. Still for Charles Clay. He showed a lot of promise towards the end of last season. They need to activate Rishard Matthews. He had a hell of a preseason. He certainly knows the offense better than Gaffney does at this point, and he deserves a shot. Jeff Ireland may have finally found a 7th round diamond, but if he never gets on the field how in the hell are we gonna find out what we have.

I have a Henne jersey.

Posted by: Odindouche | October 03, 2012 at 05:35 PM

I do have a Henne Jersey. I have a Tannehill Jersey on the way. I have Two Marino Jerseys and All Three of my Sons have one too.

I have Zach and JT too. So?

Matter of fact, one of my Prized possessions, I still have an Old(and slightly faded)Mercury Morris Jersey.

To be totally honest, I have an Old San Diego Chargers No. 22 as well. If you don't know why....forget about it. I've only wore it once or twice and I just can't bring myself to throw it out!

I have been THINKING about a Shelby, because I have that much confidence in him developing into a Gamer. But still, I'm going to wait on that one to make SURE the Coaches feel the same way-LOL.

I'm not finding fault right now. I'm liking what I am seeing on the field. Of course we aren't even close to perfect but the future is bright and I feel optimistic for the first time in yrs. I was on the blame Ireland bandwagon until they had a great draft and watched them on tough knocks. I really believe Sparano was THE problem and Ireland not so much.

douche - I have you beat - I have a Cleo Lemon jersey. Cleo was the man!

The DouscheBag is an impostoring Troll. That's the best he can come up with. I never did get a Lemon-lol, but I was almost going to get a Ray Lucas!

I thought Ray-Ray was going to go All-Pro!

(Glad I didn't. Jerseys are like major investments anymore-sheesh!)

John - I agree. I don't know much about Gaffney but Plax at least deserves a look. He'd be a nice outlet for Tannehill since our TEs suk.

Posted by: Pittsburgh Jim | October 03, 2012 at 05:55 PM

I agree on Burress. But I had a feeling meither Ireland nor Philbin/Sherman would give him a shot.

Check it out. I envisioned going two TE"s. Hartline wide Left, Bess wide right. Fasano strongside TE with Burress at left TE.

You could motion him around, slants and drags would be his forte. And then the Big Red Zone presence!

(Big Sigh........)

If you own a Cleo Lemon Jersey post that pic to Armando!!

I won't believe it till I see it!!! Hahahhaha

LOL..just silliness on here. Why is it teams won't look at Plex for any price and the guy is unemployed? Answer...We don't need crazy WR's screwing with team chemistry and being troublemakers is why.

MarkAllen, EXACTLY!!!!

YG someone trolling my names I didn't make thoughts comments

Real Clue,

Gotcha!

Ive been ragging hell out Nolan Carroll. I wasnt aware he's playing with Achilles tendon issues. Even worse, Marshall's playing with back issues. Once palying with back issues in a sports as physical as football. That's an issue that never seems to go away.

We need the newfound pass rush last Sunday, more than ever to consistently step up now. Or the fense will never get off the field on 3rd downs.

The passing offense will have to rack up more than just yardage now. We need to also begin to rack up passing tds.

Gaffney's a good addition. He also has a knack for getting open in the endzone once in the redzone.

yg, good point. Now in hindsight trading Davis this year really hurt our depth at that position. I still support the move but I hope that one those 2 unknown guys will step up. Philbin likes RJ Stanford atleast. Gives me some relief.

No respect from none of the major networks except the local networks, no mention on the defense 8 sacks. Tannehill performance
Only about ARZ this ARZ that.. Bit Sunday the PHINS going to come out and show that can't beat a playoff team! I got PHINS 28
Cincy 17. Yeah. BOYEE!!! Let's go PHINS.
Kick some as s!!! N

That they can beat a playoff team!! My bad.
Only the local networks in Miami sports recognize that Sunday we out played the Cards.. But stupid field goals killed us!

Good move. Let's also re-sign Ochocinco now that his legal problems are behind him and ramp up our passing game.

We did outplay the Cards in all categories except the one that matters most. The scoreboard!

It was still a confiedence boost and a momentum builder. The defense came alive with 8 sacks and 2 int's. And NOBODY......I repeat......NOBODY has run on us at all! They now know they can do it and their learning that they have to step up on critical downs and critical situations!

The offense has been sporadic and shaky at best. But they hit some streaks where they were dominating. They also know they can do it now. Confidence is Big Time and these guys have bumped it up. We minimize the mistakes and the penalties and we can play with ANYBODY!

Cinci is for real and their used to playing tough games in their tough division. But I get the feeling were going to come out swinging and shock the shyt out of the entire NFL.

They already got a few hints here and there. But by this Sunday Night, everybody will be forced to sit up take notice. We're going to RAM all the Biases right down the throats of all the doubters!

PS: WELCOME to Miami JG!!!!

The NIGHT shift posted all day....

and now the NIGHT shift is to sleepy to give us the night time banter....

:(

Good luck with a crap qb that has already cost us at least half our games. Tannehill sucks!

Well said Odin!!! It's what I've been arguing on the other blogs!!!

Great comment sling2, you can't argue with stupid!

Only 2 posters here besides myself as always, but tonight they seem too morose to talk about the Miami Dolphins.

Umm, reality check, this guy has been injured, he is a garbage player on a garbage team, can't believe all of you are getting worked up over this guy. If he were still good he would have been on another team by now, probably the patsys or the jets

odin or 1000 names shut up, it wasn't me, why don't you get the hint that someone else is posting under my name. They have a completely different writing style too. Get lost troll. At least add something to the football conversation

"Through four weeks, Smith is the league’s 23rd-rated corner, and by far the most effective cover man on the team, according to Pro Football Focus. Quarterbacks have targeted him 36 times — tied for the most in the league — but with little success. They have completed just 42 percent of their passes thrown in his coverage area, with a quarterback rating of 52.7."

Our best CB is the 23rd rated CB in the NFL???? What's wrong with this picture???

Someone said it already, We SHOULD be 3-1 but we, unfortunately, are not. We are learning how to win and that process is critical for our young QB. DO NOT be surprised if the Fins win 5 straight. Seriously.

Ray @ 7:31....

Something I noticed as well.....on NFLN all I saw was the FINS getting torched.....so not the whole story.....

The FINS competed EVER STEP OF THE WAY.....

even to the point of having the lead with under 4 mins...to play....

BUT.....

Just like the week prior (against the jets)....

and EVERY WEEK I can remember since MID-2004.....the DEFENSE couldn't get a stop when it counted most......

BECAUSE.....just like in years past...they were TIRED......or as Michael Irvin says...."TI-RED".....

Croyle has this D playing WAY BETTER than Nolan EVER could muster.....we got this level of D out of Nolan Once....the Vikings game....and then we found out those Vikings sucked......

Sherman has to do a better job of protecting his defense.....

This week we win in OT! Then 4 more after that. 6-3 by middle of November.

Nannee catches EVERYTHING on Madden 2013.....

I'm gonna miss him when I hook the PS3 up to the internet and get the updated roster......

:(

Bush kind of garbage on Madden 2012.....glad he's good in real life.....

2013.....

Kris I was reading some of the posts and didn't think I was going to comment tonight until I read yours at 8:35. You can update your Madden rosters via internet now? Do you know when they added that feature? I used to buy it every year but it's been a while. So the last thing I remember is having to make your own trades and create some players to update your roster. lol The new way seems a lot easier.

I wish I had something to say about the Phins but there's really not much new to talk about. I would just be repeating myself :)

Phins78....

Yeah....

The PS3...you just hook it up to the internet...and and you get the latest roster moves.....pretty cool...

I think they added that about 5 maddens ago....not sure tho......

I usually blow 60 bucks a year on that game...not cause I play that much...but because I enjoy controlling the FINS.....I like keeping the roster the way it currently is....and seeing if I can do anything with the hot garbage the GM shoves down my throat....no block-buster trades...no splash FA signings....

after playing a few games....I have a new found respect for Coach Joe.....

This would make sense were it not for the fact Hartline is leading the league in yardage and Bess is in the top 10.

All Gaffney has to do is be better than Naanee you dolt! How hard can that be? Duuuuuuuuuuuuh!

The only one that seems worked up is you. What is it Honey? Is your Girl or boyfriend doing your brother again? Is it because the jets keep getting worse and we keep getting better?

Come on sweet cheeks, you can tell Uncle Odin ;)

but NO respect for Sporano....NONE....

Hope he enjoyed that 24-ZIP @SS WHOOPING that HARBAUGH put on that @SS.....

Any should have answered any questions that Sporano may have had as to why Ross Chased Harbaugh while he was still the coach...
