Another week without Richard Marshall starts now

The Dolphins return to practice in preparation for the Tennessee Titans game on Sunday. They'll be on the practice field inside of 30 minutes.

Don't expect Richard Marshall to be there -- today, tomorrow or this week.

A source close to Marshall tells me the Dolphins cornerback who has been battling back issues is still not ready to practice. He has missed four games and has not played since Sept. 30.

The Dolphins are not surprised by this as Tuesday they signed former Cowboys, Ravens, and Raiders cornerback Bryan McCann.

McCann beat out a couple of other players who tried out, including former Dolphins cornerback Jonathan Wade.

By the way, you can bet that Marshall will miss the next two games. Becasue he's not practicing this week, he obviously is not playing against the Titans. And he's not playing against the Bills because that game is on a Thursday -- after a short week or preparation -- and that won't give Marshall enough time to gear up for the game even if he is fully healthy again, which also is uncertain.

So the earliest Marshall is back in the lineup would be Nov. 25 against Seattle.

[Update: The Dolphins overall are a relatively healthy team. Marshall and LB Koa Misi are the only players not at practice today.]

This is too bad. And by the amount of space Marshall takes up in Mando's blog, you'd think we were talking about a pro bowler here. Are you just lazy Mando and receycle the same freaking blog week in and week out??

why is this guy on the roster. He wasn't that great when he played.

Mark,

Geez, you've really got it in for Armando right now. I think the lack of hockey is getting to you...LOL.

Put him on ir and be done with him.

We miss Brandon Marshall A LOT MORE then Richard Marshall.

What is even the deal with Marshall? What's "battling back issues?" What issues? Is it a slipped disk, is it a strain, is it his spine? I'm not blaming you Mando, I know Philbin is tight-lipped about medical issues, but c'mon, they gotta give us something!

Mark, I'd probably feel better with Marshall (not that he's a huge upgrade, but he's a better option than what they're using as fill-ins).

Anybody know much about this guy McCann? bill's right, Rooute from KC would have been a good upgrade for this team. Would he hurt to much against the cap? anybody know?

Craig, Mando's work speaks for itself. It's D- at best. maybe he's battling some personal issues or something, I don't know. But I'm not impressed.

DC, yes I'd feel better if marshall was in there too but does it really merit a weekly Richard marshall watch? Mando mails it in once a week with this blog entry.

wouldnt hurt us against cap, would make league min for rest of year with kc paying other money

aib.

dow drops 300+. lmao. just the beginin' folks.
civil race war comin' up.
lmao

armando. keep 'm comin. u'r the main phins cover guy, the haters can go cheer on the jets and giants and read that used toilet paper up there.
lol

bill,

I like the KC guy. Surprised nobody else has picked him up yet. Does he have to be out there for a certain amount of time before he becomes a FA? Doesn't he have to pass through waivers first and doesn't that take a few days.

Talented guy and this goes back to my point about a lack of pass rush. All these corners look awful with no pass rush.

Just release marshall already,Im tired of him getting paid sitting on his a s s. Release him!

Too bad Sean "Tampon" Smith is able to play.

You're in KC, bill. You must have a pretty good idea what this guy can and can't do.

Btw, any chance at all the Chiefs keep the score under 12.5 points against the Steelers this week? I know they are AWFUL but I'm wondering if they can keep it single digits. Thoughts?

yeah not sure how long waivers is

Guys cut Armando some slack...this is the same columnist who once staked out the Dolphin's gift shop looking for NY Jets gear on sale.

Actually updating us on the health of one of the Dolphins contributing starters is positively pullitzer-prize winning by comparison.

yes quinn will most likely start and kc wont get over 10. stanford didnt play well in kc but hes a big strong corner who would still be an upgrade

Well, it's obvious to everyone that we need a deep threat receiver if we hope to make a serious run for the playoffs. I suggest that we sign either Plaxaco Burress or T.O. for a one year deal. Even if they do not catch a pass, at least we will have someone on the offense who the defense will respect on deep routes. Then Hartline and Bush will resume business as usually.
I knew when Vontae Davis was traded, that it would prove to be a huge mistake; he was our best freaking corner!!!!!!!!!! Now look at what we are dealing with. We need to use Miller paired with Bush more. This will free up Hartline more. If Philbin won't consider signing T.O. or Burress, then they should activate Fuller and Matthews to try them as a deep threat now. I believe both of them could be a viable deep threat.

misread craig, no chance in hell kc covers that 12.5 pitt wins that game easily

Just for fun I'd like to see guys put together a list of the top ten corners in the league. I think guys would really struggle to come up with ten....
Posted by: Craig M |

Just for Fun....I am sure Craig will have some negative position on this list in an effort to continue to cover for this shitty secondary. But here is a short list...not hard to put together.

Revis - Wets
Woodson - GB
Asomugha - Philly
Joseph- Houston
Bailey - Denver
Haden - Browns
Webb - Ravens
Rodgers - 49er's
Browner - Seattle
Grimes - Atlanta
Flowers - Chiefs
Finnegan - Rams

Sean "Tampon" Smith - not so much!

burress and owens are done, awqful

flowers cant hold carrs jock on dallas. asomugha was good 2 years ago, on and on

2 watt, hate to sound like a know it all, but I got out of the market at 13,600. I've been buying on the way down, bought some today, still have plenty of ammunition left too. Buy low sell high my friend.

mark just pile that silver up in your basement my friend

Marsha 2.0 is done! A back Issue! Any Issue! is Concerning! U can't Move without using ur back!

And before U clowns go on we should've kept Vontae Tirade! Put the Crack Down! He's hurt more than Marsha!

Our best bet is Carroll and J.Wilson Keep Improving Every Week! Carroll is More likely the Starter for the Rest of the Year!

We all knew this was a EVALUATION SEASON!

-------------------------------------------------------

BARRY JACKSON FOR DOLPHIN BLOG!

Agreed! This is Weak! Troll Boy and Grandpa Troll talk to Ur Boy!

armando, they need bryant mckinney from the ravens.
not bryan mccann.
lol

What is your peoples problem with mando? Why bash everyone of his blogs? Its gettin old fast! People don't have anything better to do then bash this guy everytime he writes something? How bout talkin dolphins instead of bashing all the time

jpao,

That's not a bad list. Not familiar with the guy in Seattle. I'm like bill, I would have had Carr over Flowers, but Flowers is OK. Not sure about Asmomugha any more. I've seen him get beat quite a few times this season. Carlos Rogers? Never really been a fan.

So you did it. You came up with ten. You said it wasn't hard. Could you come up with 5 more?

u mean b.mckinnie

Kc's pass defense is actually pretty good, Bill is it possible Routt was just outplayed and had a big contract so they cut him or was he just awful?

The key to being a good cornerback is knowing when to forget about where the receiver is: when do good corners forget about the whereabouts of a wide receiver? When the ball is in the air! The good cornerbacks will forget the receiver's whereabouts at this point and go and get the ball. You see, when the football is thrown, it is up for grabs. GO AND GET IT DUDES!!!!!!!!!!

Hey you moron I`m not typing this for shits and giggles, print what I type , its first amendment rights , or I `ll call your editor, I want to know which quarterback the players would prefer to play with, Its obvious to me Long would rather play with Moore , you don t consistantly let your QB take shots like that unless its on purpose , you hold if you have to , but you don t let guy ruun free at your QB`s blindside and Long has done this every game tanny plays

I just think it's funny to read some of the comments this week on here. Dolphins came into the game Sunday with I believe the number one defence on third down. They have a bad game against Luck and the Colts and the fans want everyone shipped out of town. Anyone see anything wrong with that logic?

dow drops 300+. lmao. just the beginin' folks.
civil race war comin' up.
lmao

2 watt,

That's funny to you???? It's hard to believe that there are really people on this planet that are as dumb & as backwards as you are.

"2 watt, hate to sound like a know it all, but I got out of the market at 13,600. I've been buying on the way down, bought some today, still have plenty of ammunition left too. Buy low sell high my friend."

Mark,

Clearly 2watt is a very savvy investor. Only the Warren Buffet's of the world know to factor in the next civil war into the price of the market.

no mark, he got into fight with coaches i n lockeroom

I must admit it people, if Matt Moore had played against Indy, we would have won that game easily. Our offense would greatly increase with Pat Devlin too. Tannehill is more of a manager. He is Chad Henne without all of the crucial interceptions. I do not expect this to change down the road. Devlin or Moore would give us a more offensive bust immediately!

I just think it's funny to read some of the comments this week on here. Dolphins came into the game Sunday with I believe the number one defence on third down. They have a bad game against Luck and the Colts and the fans want everyone shipped out of town. Anyone see anything wrong with that logic?

Craig,

No. It's completely stupid but that's what I've come to expect on here. Might as well bench Tannehill & start Moore too.

Craig, i wouldn't be too sure to take the Steelers in that game. Haivng seen Pitt's offense up close, it sucks. It's not the talent, it's Haley. he runs such a conservative offense. Steelers won two super bowl with Arians including beating haley once. Not sure why they made that change. Arians is one of the best in the game. Then again KC is awful at holding onto the ball, they might hand the Steelers 14 points on offense.

That being said, I'm an awful gambler, haha.

Bill, the market is a game. Never listen to the talking heads. Buy when everyone else is selling and sell when everyone else is buying and you'll be fine. Patience and a iron cast stomach go a long way in that game.

bond david i refuse to think u are that dumb so ill just chalk u up to trying to stir the pot

Craig, Add to that Most Teams Use 2 Cb's Minimum!

10 CB's Isn't A lot! More than 10 Cb's Make the ProBowl! In any Given Season!

How Many of those CB's Are Above 6'2"? That is a Special Trait! Big CB's Are a Premium!

Not Justifying S.Smith. Just Saying he isn't the Problem! Vontae Was Suppose to be the Better CB! The Better Athlete!

So With that Said! The Fins Still Need To Address the Defense Over the Offense! This Draft and OffSeason!

1 Blue Chip CB! is all we need For the CB Crew right Now! We don't need 2 CB's! Just 1 Good One!

So 1 of the First 3 Picks has to be a CB! Maybe Even the 1st one if we can't Get Te'o Or another Impact LB!

We Really Need! 2 LB's!!! 1 CB! and 1 FS!!!!!!

If we Walk Away the Next Draft with These 4 Holes filled and 1 Good WR!

We can start Talking Playoff's! On a Consistent Basis!

Til then Let's have fun Watching this Season! And Enjoy T-Sizzle Grow as a QB!

Sorry folks, I meant that Devlin and Moore would yield a huge boost to our offense. We are going to need it too going forward. Five touchdowns or more will be needed to win the majority of our remaining games!

See was that hard , why didn t you just print the first one I wrote , that was more in depth , was it because you wanted me to look like the a-hole for calling you out , well then just print what I write the first time, do your job , stop writing about this lazy corner that don t want to play anymore, find out whjat the team consensus is on which QB they`d rather play for, see that would be IN Debth, not this tired old story about Marshall , its pretty clear to me they played their hearts out for Moore against the Jets , and didn t play worth a damn against the Colts who were beaten by the Jets .......why?????

bond david i refuse to think u are that dumb so ill just chalk u up to trying to stir the pot

Bill,

You might want to reconsider. I think he might be that dumb.

mark i dont need the market i just keep piling up silver in a very large safe

ok yup he really is retarded. 5 tds or more, lol

BTW JPAO, Woodson is no longer a corner and two of those guys are down for the year. Rogers had a good year last year but has come back to earth. Asamoughidahughu is done.

Frankly maybe two or three of thsoe guys you mentioned are better than Sean Smith. One being Browner - he's fantastic.

Bill, I would get upset if I had to play for Romeo Crennel too. If he's not a bad apple, let's go!!

I`m not saying we shouldn t be playing Tannehill , I just want to know who the players would rather have in there , Moore gained their trust and friendship last season , Long keeps letting Tanny get killed , is it because he`d rather have Moore in there , thats all I want Mando to find out no subject is taboo so find out

I now agree with many writers stating that it is time to free up a spot and put Marshall on the DL.

Back problems are really tedious and tricky. Reality is, even when Marshall does return, it could be 2 games max and he's out again.

Not to mention football is a high contact, violent collision sport anyway, db maybe the most difficult of all positions to play with back issues. The twisting, the turning, the leaping, the backpedaling in coverage. Not to mention the violent contact and collisions.

So even when he does return, there's high chance he reaggravates the sensitive injury again. Also, if at the earliest Marshall wont play until game 11, may as well IR him until next season. Chances are he comes back and be out again(back) in a couple games anyway.

Then for sure you have to IR him for the remainder of the season.

jason, we pile on Mando because he's a one trick pony. All he does is pile on certain negative aspects of the Dolphins then wait for the trolls to come out to boost his hits. I come here to talk Dolphins with fellow fans, Mando actually just gets in the way. last week the Dolphins trash teh Jets and we don't hear anything for four days.

Craig,

Here's another five very good CB's w/o too much thought;

1) Charles Tillman (Has 7 FF's!!! Will definitely be up for Defensive Player of the Year against Watt)
2) Tim Jennings
3) Janoris Jenkins (rookie)
4) Corey Webster
5) Antonio Cromartie

silver in a very large safe, eh?

Bill, I would like to write you a letter, please forward your mailing address, your Canadian friend, Mark

CraiGM,

You have a very good point. Even the very good defenses have 1-2 games a season where they're completely shredded. Tom Coughlin called his defense out this week for the very poor game they had against the Steelers.

The defense has been pretty solid as of late(unril Sunday). So maybe we should all see if Sunday's poor performance becomes a "trend" getting our panties in a bunch based on Sunday's poor performance. You were absolutely correct.

I said it before I have crushed disks in neck and herniated disks in lower back , if I hurt my bak you will see me go down in pain , you don t just walk off the field one game perfectly fine then disappear for a month if its really your back , he`s either milking it or something else is going on they ain t talking about

Xtreme,

You're actually serious??? Yes I'm sure Long played badly b/c he wants our starting QB who was the 8th overall pick to get hurt. Does that actually makes sense to you???
