Dansby playing with a torn biceps muscle

Karlos Dansby didn't quite hold on to that possible interception a couple of weeks ago and was perhaps half a step late and his arms weren't in proper position to get a possible pick against Buffalo on Thursday.

Maybe that torn biceps muscle that he's been playing with the past three games had something to do with that.

Dansby on Friday broke an unwritten team protocol and probably sent Joe Philbin into something of a panic for announcing on his weekly WQAM radio hit with Jorge Sedano that he's been playing with a torn biceps.

Dansby, who has been listed as probable with a biceps injury the past three weeks, says he suffered the injury against the Jets on October 28.

He's been wearing a brace that helps him play but also limits his range of motion ever since. Other than the missed interceptions opportunities, Dansby's tackles have not suffered significantly.

Dansby further said he plans on continuing his season although some other players have opted to have surgery as soon as they suffer the injury.

No word yet on whether Philbin will talk to Dansby about disclosing the injury. Philbin, in case you missed it, has a blind spot about injuries. He hates discussing them. He doesn't want his players discussing them. It's a thing with him.

So we'll see.

I have been on the road all week with business travel and just saw the rantings of different fans on the past few posts from Armando.

The Bills game made me sick, especially after the dud the team laid with the Titans. This team is HORRIBLE. So many holes its crazy.

While they flashed earlier in the year it is becoming clear just how little talent this team really has on it. That is on Ireland. Too many players with POTENTIAL but not enough players MAKING PLAYS.

I think we need a whole new linebacking core to tell the truth. Dansby has played alright in the middle. But in a 4-3 you need speed to cover the slot WR and to range sideline to sideline. Ability to Rush the passer fast. They need to draft 2 OLBs IMO.
2 guys I like outta college Arthur Brown K State and Jelani Jenkins Florida.

Despite his poor passer rating and the interceptions against the Bills and Titans I really do believe THILL will prove to be a very good QB in the NFL. I am HOPING he is like Manning. Poor rookie year, learns from it, develops in the off-season, the team improves quality of talent at WR and he breaks through in season two.

I watched the NFL rewind of the Bills game. THILL seems to throw pretty well on the run. I'd like to see him run a bit more when under pressure, which he is under too often. This line, despite the early progress this year, seems to be breaking down too much. Although the WR's are just average so nobody seems open, the time the line has to hold up may be too long because the WR's just can't get open.

What a mess!

Jimmy's Wilson is a special teams player Nolan carrol should be working at Burger King and Sean smith should be a hand model so there we have it

We have a lot of work to do we need like 15 new players

1st Justin Hunter WR Tenn
2nd Cordarrelle Patterson WR Tenn
2nd Arthur Brown OLB K State
3rd Bacari Rambo S Georgia
3rd Jonathin Franklin RB UCLA
4th Jelani Jenkins OLB Florida

take Xavier Rhodes cb FSU in 2nd if Cordarrelle goes in the 1st rd.

Wr s are to risky in the first round chance of busts are very high unless we trade back into the high teens or low 20 s I like motae toa from Norte dame at 5 -10 range that's where we will be picking

At the middle of 1st I love Keenan Allen or Robert woods

Or a cb in the middle of 1st would be a do as well

I would like to thank the Mexifin Aloco for his posts. Not for the content but the horrific spelling and grammar. Its fun getting my dick tracy decoder ring out to decipher his stupid posts.

Keenan Allen or Justin Hunter should be the 1st rd pick. Tannehill needs a WR badly. All young QBs need playmaking WRs. We have none. I'm now convinced we only have a 3 Bess and 4 Matthews WR. Hartline a decent #2 option if he is still around next year.

Sean Smith, most people's target on here played well last night. I was watching him, looking for soft coverage or missed assignments. He was spot on all night. One of our best defenders on the night (I realize that's not what some guys want to hear).

Posted by: Craig M | November 16, 2012 at 03:45 PM

Craig - you are delusional. Stop telling us that Smith is a good player and worth keeping. He is HORRIBLE. Stevie Johnson actually said "You're a B-t-h." You can see him taunting Smith after he made him look foolish in the first half.

To say he played better than most on Defense is moronic. This Defense didn't show up the past two weeks. The only players with a full motor on every play are Wake and Jones. Jones missed several tackles against Spiller so i can't even say he played great.

Smith is a PUSS! If he stays it just reinforces how poor this unit is.

What's up with javorskie lane he totally faded he can't execute even a simple block he's playing just like our linemen bad

And I see Oscar is dreaming about his hand again. That guy is in some serious need of medication. Like Aloco, he could use a 2nd grade grammar/spelling book as well.

Beer pin

Would you pick either of those Wr s with 5 overall it's to high for them

J Lane sucks... He is not better than Clay was at FB last year. They need to drop Lane move Clay back to FB and play Egnew atleast once to see if he deserves a roster spot

Are you a English teacher or a jerk

I'd trade back if we were 5th overall. Honestly I think they need to get two top WRs this draft. Cordarrelle Patterson is this year's Hakeem Nicks IMO he will probably go around 23-32. Allen top 15 Hunter 15-20

Yup some of these guys need to be shown the door , but that's what this season is about

Marc,

There are only 2 real serious threats to take Manti T'eo. The Rams and Ravens. Rams need 1 more dynamic lb and Ray Lewis is nearing his end.

As far as wr's, the 1st 2 rds are loaded with guys withe the wco skill set we need.

Steadman Bailey isnt a name a lot people are bouncing about, but the guy has leads the nation with 17 recieving tds. He's projected 1st-2nd rd.

I checked Walter Camp 2013 prospects and the 1st 2 rds are loaded with guys with double-digit tds. Double-digit tds are the stats Im looking at most because not only do we need a deepthreat, we need a deepthreat that actually consistently scores.

We have a lot of work to do we need like 15 new players

Posted by: Marc | November 17, 2012 at 10:25 AM

Marc - you are absolutely right. Just too many holes to fill. Can't see it getting done in one offseason. This will take time. I just hope Ross gets rid of Ireland and keeps Philbin and the rest of the coaching staff. I like the direction of the coaches. But i just don't see Ireland bringing in the talent needed. He has been too hit or miss as GM and there are just too many needs on this team.

Keepers (Players I think are getting it done and I am confident in): Wake, Solai, Pouncey, THILL, Bess, Fields, Martin, Starks, Vernon

Got to go: (Players who just need to leave ASAP - they just are horrible or they are taking up a roster spot that someone much more talented should have): Smith, Wilson, Carroll, Clemons, Burnett, Misi, Fasano, Carpenter

Prove it or Move it (players who are just too inconsistent and need to prove they can be quality all the time or they have to move on at the end of the year): Long, Hartline, Dansby, Incognito, Jerry, Jones, Bush, Thomas, Clay, Odrick

Yup I would trade back as well pick up a 2 and a 4 and start rebuilding

jpao, Craig M is so delusional its best to just ignore him. He thinks every player and coach on the Fins is great but cant explain why we're not undefeated. LOL
He also predicted an 11-5 playoff season.

problem with Te'o is he plays in a 3-4 system. I don't like picking guys that play in a different scheme and expect them to have same results learning a new position.

But the problem is we to far into the scouting process this year to get rid of Jeffrey it would be counter productive at this point we need Sherman and coach joe to really be involved

jpao,

i had this argument with people yesterday, I guess I'll have it again with you. I'm not a defender of Smith's. I'm actually torn whether I want him back next year or not. Only reason I might say bring him back is because we have other more pressing needs.

I KNOW what I saw. I was right there. I don't have to defend it to you or anybody else. Smith played a good game. He blanketed Johnson for most of the night. 79 yards to the other teams top receiver is a good night. I didn't say Smith is a good player. What I said is he played well. Again, I don't care what you or others think. I KNOW what I saw.

Height,

You dumb f8ck! If you knew anything, you know I predicted the team would be 4-12 this year. Ask anyone. So take you head out of your a** and stick to things you know about like crocheting and chick movies....MORON!

Beerphin,

Scouting report on T'eo:

"Te'o has nice blitzing ability and closing speed as a pass-rusher. It is clear that he has the instincts for the position. Plus, Te'o is versatile for the next level; he has the bulk to be an inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense and the speed to play middle linebacker in a 4-3. As long as Te'o stays healthy, he should produce another quality season to be a safe first-rounder in the 2013 NFL Draft".

So yes, he does have the skill and talent to play either 3-4 or 4-3 defense.

jpao,

Good luck filling all those needs! Love to know how you'd do it. I guess if a guy's not a Pro Bowler he doesn't deserve to be on the team. Hilarious!

YG,

I guess this is where we disagree. I don't get how if your biggest need on defence is pass rush, why you draft a middle linebacker. I'm not saying Dansby is the be-all-and-end all. I'm not saying Te'o won't be a great player. I'm just wondering about the logic of drafting a middle linebacker in the first. Doesn't sit right with me. I don't want Dansby playing OLB.

If we dont take T'eo, its pretty safe to say next year, he'll be a Ram.

If the Rams dont take him, he'll be Ray Lewis' heir apparent, and next star mlb.

I know he is capable. I'm just not as high on him as I was Kuechly last year... Te'o will go in the top 10 in draft IMO

Teo reminds me of Zachary Thomas but bigger that's where you start your rebuild the middle of your defense from that point on you pick needs wr cb te RB ect ect ect

I think Kris predicted 11-5... For the record I was 10-6... still possible lol

I am really sold on that MLB the kid is a winner and a leader teo would look great in aqua and orange it would make our defense legit then add a cb and a pass rusher and away we go the offense is a different story all together wow where do you start

DC,

Those were all great points!

Except!!!!!

U Are forgetting!!! 1 MAJOR THING!!!

IF A PLAYER IS REALLY INJURED!!!!! PHILBIN WILL SIT U!!!!!!

HE DOESN'T PLAY "REAL" INJURED PLAYERS!!!!

DANSBY WOULD BE THE FIRST GUY!!!

AGAIN!! THE REASON REAL COACHES!! DON'T TALK ABOUT INJURIES!! IS SO THE OTHER TEAM DOESN'T KNOW WHO IS HURT!!!!!

THAT DOESN'T MEAN U DON'T PROTECT UR PLAYERS!!!!!!

IF DANSBY WAS REALLY HURT!!! HE WOULD NOT BE ON THE FIELD!!!!

DANSBY!!! IS A DIVA!!! THE FIRST MLB DIVA!! DASHI HAS EVER SEEN!!! HE SAID THE SAME THING LAST YEAR!!!!

IF HE REALLY HAD A TORN BICEP!!! HE WOULDN'T EVEN BE RUNNING!!! U CAN'T BEND UR ARM WITH A TORN. BICEP!!!! TRY RUNNING WITHOUT SWINGING ONE ARM!!!

JUST CAUSE HE'S PLAYING BAD!!! DOESN'T MEAN HE'S PLAYING HURT!!!!

Dansby just Sucks!!

The Phins will be 5-11 or 4-12

Craig M is from CANADA! What does he know about the MIAMI Dolphins? Nothing!

DC...

You are one of the most respected poster's on this site (imo)....and I have ZERO issues being called out by yourself or any other FIN FAN on anything that I post...and others may have issue with.....I enjoy intelligent banter....

Having said that.....

If you know me (even on the blog)....I look at E EVERYTHING with a critical eye....Dansby's comments (@ this point) don't pass the common sense test.....I kinda tried to say that with the RAY LEWIS mention....

DC...let me ask you this....

how in the HE!! can Philbin keep a torn bicep of of the injury list......is that even LEGAL.....

Has Dansby's play been so stellar that he isn't replaceable...I don't think so...Dansby has near invisible in all the games....except for maybe the 1st 2....

I have been scouring the since reading your comments....other than Dansby's word...I haven't seen even ONE independent report to verify this injury....Is it a torn BICEP...or a Dansby boo-boo....what else have YOU seen to tell you otherwise.....

Is Dansby's CREDIBILITY beyond reproach...not in MY opinion....not with the way he has conducted himself in interviews....deliberately going against the GRAIN @ EVERY opportunity....with THIS ONE BEING JUST THE LATEST EXAMPLE of our MOUTHY LB...

How do we know that Dansby isn't just trying to throw Philbin OVERBOARD...because Philbin doesn't give the BABY his way....

Basicaslly what I am saying is that the whole STINKS...and if I have to pick a SIDE....i'm riding with PHILBIN....

CraigM,

First of all, Olivier Vernon could have a breakout year next season. Had he stayed in school, he's probably one of those 1st rd DE's you say we should draft next year.

Secondly, Craig man Ive checked, all of those DE's youre talking about are good, but I see nothing off the charts about them. I see nothing in any of them that definitively says they will dominate right away in the nfl.

Looks like we'll be drafting top 10 in 2013. All of the top available pass rush DE's Im looking at seem like reaches at top 10. They look like 5-8 sack guys thier 1st season on the nfl level.

Remember, these guys are playing against ncaa level olinemen, and arent putting up "off the chart" numbers. Good, but not off the charts. This suggests to me, when they come to the nfl, they wont immediately put any off the chart numbers either.

This time around they'll be facing nfl calibre, not collegiate calibre, olinemen. I dont know what you see, but I dont see any putting up off the chart numbers.

Just because you have a need, doesnt mean you go reaching. I wouldnt touch a single pass rusher in 2013's draft earlier 20th at best.

It's more than one guy not just dansby what about jake long or richie cogs those guys are vets and you know what they SUCK ok it's on the film fellas winds are blowing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7UxpYMNd5w

a good Te'o highlight reel

See what everyone did was put us in the playoffs already and talk about how good everything was. It was 2008 all over again. The reality is that everything just fell into place in 2008. It was actually a bad thing going forward because we still had a lot of holes. The fact we're not jumping steps here is a good thing. We need at least one more good draft and maybe even a FA or two, so that we are ready to compete. Tannehill needs to grow and improve. Coaches need to do a better job.

YG, I'll keep an open mind on your kid Te'o. Not saying I hate the idea, just saying it needs to be thought through better....that's all.

FSU's DE would be a great pick for pass rusher IMO but I agree with YG and Dashi. We need linebackers. IMO we need two 4-3 OLBs with speed and pass rushing.

YG,

Like I said, I'll keep an open mind on the idea. I like the kid a lot. You need to convince me what they are going to do with Dansby. I think the reality is if they follow your plan they move on from Dansby and Starks next year. To me that's two big veteran holes to fill. If you have a full plan on how to replace them then I'm interested. I'm cautiously optimistic on Vernon but i'm not ready to annoint him as a starter yet. He's shown PROMISE but that's been it so far.

Craig the reason u GO MLB IN THE FIRST! And Not OLB!!!

Is LOOK AT HISTORY!!

P.Willis
R.Lewis
B.Urlacher

Name 1 OLB THAT MEANS MORE TO A DEFENSE!!! NAME 1 OTHER DEFENSIVE POSITION PLAYER THAT HAS THAT MUCH IMPORTANCE TO HIS TEAM!!

YG,

the Rams have Laurinaitis! He's pretty good! UR right Though! Fisher knows the importance of LB's!! In a 4-3!! And Te'o!! would put them right up with the 49ers and Seahawks!! With Great Defense!

Would hate to see him go to the Ravens!! It Would be like Luck!! Going to the Colts!!! EXTREMELY UNFAIR!!!

beerphin,

We need TWO LBers? Who are you getting rid of? So I guess we're blowing the whole thing up? Didn't you just say above that you had predicted 10-6 this year? So you obviously thought this team was close. But now you're saying we're not close and you're blowing it all up? Bit of an overaction/knee jerk thing, no?

You guys hit it right on the head it starts with your MLB he's the backbone of your defense

Bjoern Werner DE FSU

Alright guys, I'm not prepared to make a decision on this 10 games into the season. There's still a long way to go and a lot of things to happen between now and April. It's ONE idea...that's all I'm prepared to understand to this point. Still LOTS of ways to go about this. A lot will depend on who comes back in FA and who they add. Long way to go....

No you put teo in the middle flanked by dansby and Burnett that's a pretty good group

Buys there's NO guarantee Te'o will even be there. If he's that good a lot of teams will want him. So there needs to be contingency plans.....back-up plans. Lots to figure out. We don't even have a clue where we're drafting yet. There may even be teams that want to trade up for this kid. A lot can happen.

Craig how many games do you think we will rally win have you checked our remaining games the jags might be the only win and maybe the bills as far as keeping these guys hartline is the only keeper Starks is replaceable smith maybe jake long who cares so ther you go

Kris,

Great Point!

When Did Dansby get Hurt??

Dashi remembers him spraining his ankle!! And PHILBIN BENCHING HIM TILL THE REGULAR SEASON!!!

WHEN GUYS ARE HURT THEY DON'T PRACTICE DURING THE WEEK!!!

HOW MANY TIMES U HEAR DANSBY IS PRACTICING? EVERYDAY!

If we don't get Te'o! Dashi will still be happy with A.Brown from KSU!!

Even though it would be surreal for Arthur! He left UM a Few years back! To play closer to home! And he would be back in Miami! As a Pro! The Kid can Play!

Sorry about my spelling I missed keys

Yup if we miss him we miss him but if he's there grab him

DC....

IF Dansby has a TORN BICEP....the FINS will be investigated,,,,

"you can take THAT...to the bank"

-Hard to Kill

Dashi,

Rams play 3-4 and would play T'eo as a ilb.

I think they need to get 4-3 players... Misi and Burnett are not fast nough to play in the 4-3. I would dump Burnett and keep Misi for depth.

« 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ... 12 13 »
