Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Today is about big parades. And eating. And certainly about watching football. There are three games on the schedule, including an AFC East meeting between the Patriots and the Jets.
But there's more to this national holiday than the national sport. This is, as you should know, a time to give God thanks for the many blessings he's bestowed on us the past year.
I thank Him for my wife and family.
I thank Him for health and wholeness.
I thank Him for a life full of goodness.
I thank Him for tests -- because they will lead to testimonies.
My family will celebrate with a meal today. I'm frying a turkey. That's right, frying. Locks in the juices. Highly recommend it if you haven't tried it.
But we all must be aware not everyone is enjoying the kind of prosperous personal situation most of us are. Some are less fortunate. Some are not of good health or perhaps aren't working or maybe have been detoured by a string of bad luck.
On Wednesday afternoon the Dolphins did their share to make sure some of those less fortunate would still be able to enjoy this day and be thankful for a good day, at least. The club in conjunction with Publix gave away 750 turkey meals that included all the fixins'.
I shot some videos of the folks picking up those meals.
Here they are:
And here's part deux:

Fin 1984 Im glad he did because the only difference maker at QB in this years preseason free-agency period was P Manning and yes he passed on us,do you blame him he didnt wanna get his hands dirty working for the gas station manager.
Posted by: KingShula | November 22, 2012 at 12:14 PM
Aloco I can picture Henne and Marshall in Gas station attire like gomer pyle wore.
Posted by: KingShula | November 22, 2012 at 12:16 PM
Kappe played Nevada-Reno which is not even Div I so you can't compare his stats to Tebow or Henne who both had extraordinary college careers against ranked teams every single week on Nat'l TV.
When was Nevada-Reno ever on TV?
Posted by: CadillacDeVille | November 22, 2012 at 12:17 PM
My bad I meant GUUBER PYLE,Gomer only worked there before he went into the marines
Posted by: KingShula | November 22, 2012 at 12:17 PM
And another thing:
Anybody can win games at QB for the 49ers.
Neither Smith nor Kappe would do any better here than Tanne with the crap talent on this team.
And we have 20 pending FAs and only 10 draft picks so it's not like we are getting more talented.
Posted by: CadillacDeVille | November 22, 2012 at 12:19 PM
I think it is spelled 'Goober' not 'Guuber'.
Posted by: CadillacDeVille | November 22, 2012 at 12:21 PM
You are correct CDVille I just googled it I got a pic if anyone remembers the hat he wore at the gas station,I can picture Henne wearing it and Marshall also but he would wear gloves(I hope their not white)
Posted by: KingShula | November 22, 2012 at 12:27 PM
Would guys still be talking about Kaepernick if he'd fallen on his face the other night. SERIOUSLY? Where were these comments over the last year and a half? All of a sudden he's the savious and 'we blew it'. Come on!
For the record, I liked Dalton and Kaepernick before they came out. These are the guys I was hoping we would draft. But that was THEN, this is NOW. Happy to have Tannehill on board.
Posted by: Craig M | November 22, 2012 at 12:27 PM
DO YOU GUYS THINK HENNE WILL CEMENT HIS STARTING JOB WITH JAX NEXT YEAR UNDER THIS COACH WHO'S NOT LIKE OUR EX PIZZA MAN MICROMANAGEMENT STYLE ?
Posted by: ALoco | November 22, 2012 at 12:34 PM
THE 49S COACH HAVE SAID,HE WILL USE HIS 2 QB PLAYERS ,IN EVERY GAME ,EVEN PLAYING BOTH TO WIN.............
THIS IS THE NEW THINKING IN FOOTBALL,NOT THE STARTER,THE BACK UP AND THE CRAP......
Posted by: ALoco | November 22, 2012 at 12:38 PM
So we can do all those things you just want to keep between us right?
Posted by: CadillacDeVille | November 22, 2012 at 12:42 PM
Will there be 20,000 fans at the next home game?
Posted by: Our Draft Picks Are Useless | November 22, 2012 at 12:43 PM
The dulphins have had two busts of their own. Henne and now tannehill. Together you get hennehill!

In pro football they dont replace the QB even if it is obvious to all that he is having a bad throwing game. They should replace those QBs having those games at halftime unless their team is ahead.Anyone can have a bad throwing game even Cy Young himself, thats why in baseball they bring in the reliever if its obvious hes not throwing well.In football it seems to be another idiosyncracy from the unwritten OLD COACH manual of coaching.Ive seen Bellicheat bring in his backup for one series and pull him out for the next,it happened against the Dolphins in fact. These old ways might have worked then but if it dosent work fix-it if it does dont do anything.Common sense folks.

So there's the Detroit Lions.
Having probably the most disappointing season in the NFL in a year where they were expected to win.
A franchise that has never played in a single Super Bowl.
A franchise that last won a title when Eisenhower was president.
Yet they are playing in a full house in front of loud, enthusiastic fans cheering them on.
Those people DESERVE a winner. You guys? Not really.

Maybe that will be special case in SF but you really don't want to get a Peyton Manning or a Johnny U of their calling plays rythm.

Posted by: Embarrassed By Our Crybaby Fanbase | November 22, 2012 at 01:07 PM
Would you trade Tannehill to get Henne back?
Posted by: Kiper | November 22, 2012 at 01:08 PM
Of course, if most Players were smarter than their Coaches there would be no need for the latter, would it?
Posted by: Holidays | November 22, 2012 at 01:11 PM
Terrible team = Terrible fans
Posted by: LincolnContinental | November 22, 2012 at 01:13 PM
Henne is only playing because of injury to Gabbert.

Posted by: Mark in Toronto | November 22, 2012 at 02:47 PM
BTW, someone asked who we drafted instead of Kapernick .. it was Mike Pouncey.
I too also wanted a QB instead of Pouncey but Mike has held up his end of the bargain and now we also have a QB that had a higher draft grade than Mallett, Kapernick or Dalton.
So carry on ...
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | November 22, 2012 at 02:48 PM
6- THE RICE BILAF IS IN THE OVEN...
Posted by: ALoco | November 22, 2012 at 02:49 PM
Ryan Leaf had a higher draft grade then Mallet, Kapernick, or Dalton also. Thats meaningless.
Posted by: Our Draft Picks Are Useless | November 22, 2012 at 02:55 PM
Detroit just got robbed.
Posted by: Sammo | November 22, 2012 at 02:59 PM
..Mark in Toronto..I remember on draft day that there was a report from Jason Lacanforna(I think that is his name) that we were seriously considering Kaepernick. I think there was even a thread from Armando confirming this report. Of course there are smoke screens on draft day, and it is hard to believe all the jibber jabber that goes on until the pick is made. I just wonder how close we were to taking him.
In hindsight after the year we had in 2010..Center was a big issue, and I could certainly understand why we passed on a quarterback. 1 Sparano was on the hot seat. It is rare that teams draft quarterbacks early in the draft when coaches jobs are on the line. It happens(see Denver) but if you go back and look at the draft. These examples are rare. I think teams don't want to be forced into a situation where they have to handcuff a new regime with a project not their own. Sparano was tied to Henne and he was going to lie or die on his shoulders.
2 as I mentioned. Center was the gkaring issue on the line. A lot of people question selecting a center so high. This is totaly a valid argument. But Pouncey filled an immediete need, and he started and has been pretty good so far. He certainly has his ups and downs, but is IMO been the most consistant player on the line so far this year.
Posted by: DarrylDunphy | November 22, 2012 at 03:02 PM
Sorry but he will never make that. Dulphns fans seek big eared big nosed owner who is a multi millionaire to spend his own money on some elite football players especially at qb to show fans that ylthey really want to WIN!

Miami players gave away turkeys. That's a good job for them. I guess it takes one to know one.
